It will pop up if it detects there is an update and you haven't set it not to pop up automatically. You may need to reset the AE back to factory spec and set it up again. Read the manual for the reset.

I use Firefox 95% of the time, and there's no problem with flash content (and I'm still at .55 - downloaded .64 last week but I haven't got round to making the change yet). At the rate they've been changing it recently it may well be out of date already .
I've been trying it in Safari, too with no problems apart from You Tube, but that's because I'm blocking Google cookies.
One thought does occur - if your Flash preferences are set to block all Local Storage, it may be that the problem site is trying to use Flash cookies (LSOs). I had this problem recently with the BBC iPlayer streaming content. Little Snitch notified an attempt to connect to a new URL - emp.bbci.co.uk.
If I disallowed it, no streaming; when I allowed the connection, it still wouldn't stream, so I did a bit of digging and came to the conclusion that it was trying to set a Flash cookie. When I unblocked, lo and behold - streaming resumed as normal.
I now have LSOs blocked in a more subtle way that lets the site think it's being set (but it ain't) and the streaming still works.
As for permissions repair - always repair from local; the permissions on the original disc will have been superceded by updates and new installations of Apple software.
DU needs to be reading the packages on the HD, not the (now out of date) install disc.
The recurring repair messages are normal and don't mean anything's wrong. As long as the final message is 'repair complete' there's no need to dwell on it.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:

The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

I have an iPod touch and cannot access gmail. I always get username or password for gmail is incorrect. I am able to access gmail via my Windows laptop just fine. I tried deleting and adding a new account, verified that my network connections are working, bebooted my iPod, and verified that imap is enabled on my laptop. Not sure what else to do. Please help!!!

HT1414 My daughter has an ipod touch 1/2nd generation not sure but it's older, and we can't open it because it says "IPod is disabled connect to iTunes" but it won't connect to my Imac either not sure what I should do?

I've rebooting it several times and it still says it's locked. Not sure what I should do she's young so I don't want really want to have to buy her a new one. Thank you for your help.

Srvrmgr syntax: how can I create Named Subsystem with both Name and Description values?

In looking through bookshelf, there is no syntax discussed that allows you to include both the Name value and the Description value for a Named Subsystem/Profile Configuration. In the screenshot, the circled values were created with the server manager command-line.
In contrast, you can create a component definition with a Name (full name) and Description.
For CompDef, this works:
create component definition CompDefTest1_enu for component type AppObjMgr component group Fins run mode Interactive full name "Test Comp Def Test 1" description "Test 1 Object Manager CompDef"
For Named Subsytem, this does NOT work:
create named subsystem Test5 for subsystem EAITransportDataHandlingSubsys full name "Test 5" description 'Test 5 Description'
Can anyone tell me if, for a Named Subsytem, there is a proper syntax to include both the Name and Description values in the command-line, or is the only way to manually create it in the UI?

I have reviewed the help for create command in srvrmgr, it does not give the full name and description as parameters for subsystem creation. However, as you indicated these parameters are available for component definition creation:

In this case I suggest you to create a ticket on My Oracle Support to confirm that srvrmgr does not support creating a new subsystem with full name and description parameters, and request an enhancement request for these parameters to be included in create statement for new subsystems when using srvrmgr.

It seems you have a network conflict that isn't allowing your MacBook Pro to connect to the internet. This may be caused by both computers sharing identical network settings. You may want to consider creating a new network location on your MacBook Pro to assign new network settings. The following article will instruct you on how to do that:
OS X Yosemite: Add a network location
A network location is a group of network settings
A network location is a group of network settings for your various network services (Ethernet or Wi-Fi for example).
If you often change network settings, you may find switching between locations quicker and easier than repeatedly modifying individual groups of settings.
For example, you might want to make a location for “home,” where you connect to the Internet with a telephone modem, and a location for “office,” where you connect to your company network and the Internet using Ethernet or AirPort.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.
Click the Location pop-up menu, choose Edit Locations, then click Add .
Enter a name for the location, then click Done.
Enter settings for each network connection service you want to use in that location.
After you create your locations, you can switch all of your network settings by clicking the Location pop-up menu and choosing a different location.

Creating Two Networks with Different Securities and Double NAT Error

I have a Time Capsule which is connected to my cable modem and an AirPort Extreme connected to my Time Capsule via the WAN port. I configured the AEBS to create a wireless network using WEP (I have a few devices that don't support WPA) so I can use two different wireless securities. The AEBS flashes the amber light and once I connect to its network, the AirPort Utility states that it has a "Double NAT" issue. I used my iPhone 5 to connect to the AEBS network and I can access the Internet just fine.
Is this issue one that can be resolved? If so, how? Or do I ignore the issue? If I ignore, what are the implications?

You need to configure the AEBS in Bridge Mode to eliminate the Double NAT error, which is slowing down your connection...and may likely cause other issues depending on how the network is configured.
If you do not know how to do this, we need to know what operating system you are using on the computer that is being used to configure and setup the AEBS.

Connecting to Wireless Network with domain name and proxy servers?

I'm trying to connect to the wireless network at my college, however it's not as straight forward as usual... The network is hidden, although I know to 'Join other network' and type in the SSID of the network and then set the authentication method to WPA-Enterprise. However, this is where I run into a problem..
To connect, I need to 'configure encryption as AES', which I'm not sure how to do on OS X. Furthermore, after signing in with my college ID I am required to 'Use the domain name [domain name]' and 'configure your browser to use the college proxy servers [example.example.net] on port [123]
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as it's important that I log on to the network for work etc.

The encryption should be configured automatically. To use the proxy:
1. Open System Preferences
2. Click on Network
3. Select Airport from the list on the left
4. Click on Advanced, near the bottom right

Graphic Designer Pismo G3 Owner not sure what to do about upgrading...

Ok. Here's the scenario.
I'm running my Powerbook G3 Pismo(Firewire) 500 MHZ, 512MB ram, 20GB hard Drive. Dead Battery. Daystar Superdrive CD/DVD Burner.
I also run OSX Panther 10.3.9. Most of my graphics programs are still on OS9, while I websurf and do a few things in OSX.
Now I just got a job for the summer as an adjunct prof. teaching web and flash design classes. Their computers run Photoshop CS2, Flash 8 and Dreamweaver 8. I'm running on OS9, Photoshop 6, Flash 6 and Dreamweaver 6. I find that my Macromedia programs are dual compatable and I've been able to run them on OSX as well. They possibly want me to do Final Cut Pro too and I'd have to learn that program, because my video knowledge is based in Premiere... but I know you really can't run that program unless you have a G5 tower, or Macbook Intel. I'm not quite sure if I trust the Intel books yet. It's too soon.
I'm looking to upgrade situation but I'm broke at the moment. I'm going to have to ebay a lot of stuff I find in my basement to upgrade my computer. I can either go the XLR8 Daystar Route and do the G4 upgrade... which I believe would cover the first three programs... or I could get a new ibook G4.... or I could really save and get a new Macbook... but everything is so up in the air because all the graphics programs run through Rosetta. If it's anything like Classic... I hate running programs through emulators. They're so sluggish.
Any suggestions? I'm just getting back on my feet again in the design world after a 2 year hiatus getting my masters in education.... help me!

Or you could go into debt and buy the new Macbook Pro using Apple financing. since you are in the profession I think that you should make a giant leap so that you'll have a computer capable of doing what needs to be done for the foreseeable future, as far as that is in the computer world-NOT!
If you are still afilliated with a University you can get the apple Education Store discount, which somtimes is greater than twhat the Apple employees can get. I know that for certain because I am retired from the Univ of Texas austin and one of my daughters works here for Apple.
You would be saving money, sort of, in the long run. The money you'd be investing into the Pismo would go towards the new computer. Pismos are great, I just sold mine on ebay for $750.00! Saving up fgor when my G4 Mini Tower gives out! good luck.

I'm having trouble with the sync all feature and i'm not sure what to do about it

i'm using Lr 5.3 on a windows 8.1 and a really fast laptop "can render movies in after effect in minutes"
the problem i'm having is when i click the sync all button and the top loading bar moves like everybody, only the pictures viewed in my bottom slider will change even if i leave it for hours and this happen with big and small number of pictures so i tried reinstalling it and that didn't work
i do a lot of timelapses and i thought maybe if i export the video they will show with the edited settings and that didn't happen and it showed the pictures that i havent moved to view blured, like the same blue when you move fast between raw pictures
so i t tried exporting them and that worked fine but takes ages, the pictures still didn't change in the viewer but all the exported pictures did and thats not helping me in my job !
FIND ME A SOLUTION please cause i'm dealing with 500-1000 picture here and i need to move the slider every 20 sec or so every picture is changed and this takes time and effort guys !

It could be overheating..........thing is ....i never realy though ibooks got that hot....the ibook does not even have a cooling fan...at least my blueberry 300mhz doesn't.
I would have to say sounds more like your hard drive may be starting to fail you.

This is what I get for clicking when I probably shouldn't have been. I've got a grainy picture and it the display has to be set at 256 colors or I can't see anything but black and neon type colors.

Hi bvarley: If you have changed the colours to 256 mode it is quite easy to get it back to normal. Go to "System Preferences" > "Dispalys" > "Colours" click on drop down arrows and set back to Millions. Another possibility is that you have activated some preferences within Universal Access. Go to "System Preferences" > "Universal Access". Check that contrast is set to normal, and other settings are as they should be.
