Hi, my podcast feed is not updating.

Is there a way that I can check my podcast feed in iTunes?
Here's the link that my Blubrry PowerPress plugin created http://desireestafford.com/feed/podcast/
The feed validator shows it as a webpage instead of a feed. How do I correct it?

You're going to have to ensure that it saves the feed with the same filename and URL as before otherwise the Store will lose contact with your feed. As long as it's the same, just re-upload it: subscribers will see the changes pretty well immediately but the Store will take a couple of days or so to update.
To check whether your feed is working you can either click the 'Subscribe' button on your Store page, or choose 'Subscribe to podcast' from the file menu and enter the URL of your feed. Doing this simply enables your iTunes application to read the feed: it has no connection with the Store. Currently of course it's not working because of the problem with the feed.

  • My Wordpress dot Coms podcast feeds are not updating

    Hello All,
Since Saturday the feeds for my three podcasts (hosted by wordpress.com) aren't updating in iTunes....other programs that I download seemed to download in my iTunes program just fine but not the three I own/produce. Was there a glitch this weekend or do I have an issue?

Thanks in advance for your help/advice
    Phil

Taking the first episode you list, the media file URL in the feed is
    http://archive.org/download/TheWritersShowcaseWithPhilNaessensMaryAnnBernal/TheW ritersShowcasePodcastE02MaryAnnBernal_mixdown.mp3
    This redirects to
    http://ia801609.us.archive.org/35/items/TheWritersShowcaseWithPhilNaessensMaryAn nBernal/TheWritersShowcasePodcastE02MaryAnnBernal_mixdown.mp3
    which does work.
The URL you gave in your earlier post doesn't, as it leads to an archive.org web page; that page has a link to an MP3 file -
    http://archive.org/download/PNS2042013/PNS2042013.mp3
    This leads to
    http://ia601501.us.archive.org/22/items/PNS2042013/PNS2042013.mp3
which does work, so presumably it's that you should be using.
I would normally be suspicious about something like archive.org but if you use the direct URL it does seem to be working OK: and surprisingly it appears to handle 'byte range requests' (the method used by iPhones which is now mandatory for new podcasts).

  • My podcast feed has not updating.

I posted the first episode yesterday which appeared in the iTunes stores fine however today both the first and second episodes are now gone.
Here is the rss feed url http://socialsavvvy.podomatic.com/rss2.xml

I can't see any obvious reason for this: the feed is OK apart from some minor issue with the html coding you've used in the summary/subtitle tags - this is messy, not fatal. It can be subscribed to manually in iTunes, or from the subscribe link in the Store page, and both episodes show. I can only suggest giving it a couple of days and seeing if it corrects itself.
In the meantime, you have this sort of coding appearing:
Amplify your impact with Twitter.  Learn quick...
This is wrong anyway, and is showing in the feed as   - iTunes will render & but not non-breaking spaces and many other codes: this is XML not html. See http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#commonmistakes . You should remove this.

  • Can anyone help - my podcast feed is not updating

    Hi,
Can't get my latest episode picked up by iTunes although the feed passes routine validity check. It's active on feedburner now. This is episode 160+ of a weekly cast - I have never had to wait more than a few hours to see it picked up in iTunes.
I know standard answers to the question are to give it a couple of days, but - again, I have never seen such a delay before and wonder if something else is amiss.
    I access iTunes here: https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/cheap-astronomy-podcasts/id323506039.
My active feedburner rss is here (with new episode): http://feeds.feedburner.com/CheapAstronomyPodcasts
    Thanks,
    Steve

A delay of a couple of days is entirely normal, though it does vary quite a bit. Your latest episode does appear when subscribing: the Store will pick it up when it gets round to checking your feed.

  • My itunes Feeds are not updating

My itunes feeds are not updating. One stopped updating a couple weeks ago, while another one is approaching a month without an update. Anyone have any ideas on what is going on? Anything i can do to resolve this issue? Any help is appreciated. thank you.

    https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/g-and-t-show/id689638265?mt=2

The feed for the first podcast you list is at
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/gandtshow/RAcB
There is a line at the very top of the feed which reads
Notice: Undefined index: feed_redirect_url in /hermes/bosnaweb03a/b2043/ipw.certifiedpcdoctor2/public_html/GandTshow/wp-conte nt/plugins/powerpress/powerpress.php on line 1377
Its presence renders the feed unreadable; when subscribing it shows up blank, and the iTunes Store is showing a cached version from the last time it could read the feed.
The feed for the second podcast is at
    http://www.gandtshow.com/?feed=podcast2
There appear to be no errors in this feed, but it is showing up empty when subscribing. It did take a long time to load in Firefox, so it's possible that it may be timing out in iTunes and the Store.

  • Podcast List view not updated with iTunes 11.3.1.2

Podcast List view not updated with iTunes 11.3.1.2
    Windows 7 Enterprise Service Pack 1 / Intel-i7 2.40 GHz / 8GB RAM / 64-bit
    iTunes 11.3.1.2
After refreshing my Podcast list, some Podcasts with new episodes do not display the "Unplayed" blue dot.
If the podcast "folder" is expanded by clicking the triangle, the new episodes are shown with a "Unplayed" blue dot.
A new episode is shown in the My Podcast view, with the correct number of new episodes.
The new episodes are displayed in the All Unplayed view.
I've tried deleting all episodes and downloading new episodes from the iTunes Store.
I've tried Unsubscribing and deleting the podcast, then Subscribing again from the iTunes Store.
    Neither attempt resolved the issue.
I've seen this issue for a while, and was disappointed to find no change with the iTunes 11.3.1.2 update.

it finally worked; got my Rush 24/7 downloaded, and it finally found my iPhone after switching from the USB 4 port Hub to a dedicated USB 2.0 slot on my laptop.

  • My podcast feed stopped being updated in iTunes

The same podcast feed that I've been using for three years recently stopped working in iTunes, though it's still working correctly in other tests that I've run. The feed corresponds to a blog, and my blogreader shows the updated content correctly (including the podcast attachment). Yet it won't update in iTunes.
I use Feedburner and its Smartcast settings to format correctly for iTunes. As I mentioned, this is the same setup I've used for almost 100 podcast episodes spanning almost three years. I don't believe anything there has changed.
    Other steps I've tried...
    1. Subscribing to the feed directly using the Advanced menu, entering the feed directly. The subscription works (so does subscribing through the iTunes Podcast Directory).
    2. Pinging the podcast in iTunes. That also worked, as I received a successful response ("Podcast Ping Received")
    3. Running my feed through www.feedvalidator.org. This also worked, but with a message that may be helpful:
    Congratulations!
[Valid RSS] This is a valid RSS feed.
    Recommendations
This feed is valid, but interoperability with the widest range of feed readers could be improved by implementing the following recommendations.
    * line 2, column 4336: description should not contain relative URL references: img/mp3.jpg (17 occurrences)
    ... italic;">-Mark</span></a></description><thr:total xmlns:t ...
    ^
    * line 2, column 11586: itunes:summary should not contain HTML: & (16 occurrences)
    ... 0 minutes. I think you'll like it. -Mark</itunes:summary><itunes:keyword ...
    ^
    * line 2, column 27026: itunes:subtitle should not contain HTML: &
... mes. It always helps to know those thing</itunes:subtitle><itunes:author ...

The things you've listed shouldn't prevent the podcast episodes from showing (though you shouldn't put HTML in the descriptions and summary because iTunes doesn't render it, it just dislays the HTML which looks messy).
FeedValidator can flag a file as valid even though it contains errors which affect iTunes: for example a missing <enclosure> tag tends not to be picked up, though without it iTunes won't see the episode.
Do you feel like posting the URL of your feed file? (Please include the http://.)

  • My podcast feed won't update on iTunes. Why? And what can I do to fix?

I do a weekly podcast and hasn't updated since Sept 21st for whatever reason. Even though the rss feed shows the new episode with the enclosure link, it's not updated on iTunes. I use libsyn.com to upload the audio files and then use the enclosure links they supply me with to put on a small blog post in blogger. I then send the blogger RSS feed to send to iTunes, which has worked for 31 episodes... until now, when I've tried to upload episode 32.
The blogger feed I use in feedburner is: http://muaythaiguypodcast.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?=rss
The feedburner feed I send to iTunes is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/lfqKK
I tried changing the feedburner feed, but that didn't do anything. I'm also in the process of redesigning my website using wordpress, and have thought about using powerpress to keep the podcast updated. Would that be a good idea?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!

You have sent iTunes to the wrong feed URL. There is a feed at the URL you quote, but your iTunes Store page, which is at
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/muay-thai-guy-podcast/id636798781
is looking for a feed at
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/lfqKK
There is no file at that address. So now you have painted yourself into a corner. I would guess that you aren't able to get a feed up at that Feedburner address? If you can, then you need to add the 'new-feed-url' tag to (or the original feed) as described here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#move
If you are unable to do that your only option (other than abandoning the podcast page and re-submitting as entirely new podcast) is to email Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them to change the Store to the correct URL - give them the URL of the Store page and both feed URLs. I can't guarantee they will do this, but it's quite possible and would solve your problem.
If you do have to resubmit, you will have to change the title slightly or you will be told the feed has already been submitted.

The feed validates, the source code shows all of the necessary header info for itunes - what am I missing... why isn't it updating?
    Thanks for your help!

iTunes is looking for a feed at
    https://www.calvaryqc.org/xml/podcasts/02080425.xml
and not finding it. The connection is a secure one - https - and when tested in FireFox reports that it uses an untrusted certificate: but even over-riding that shows that there is no file at that address. It is to that feed that you have to add the 'itunes:new-feed-url' tag (it's present on the feed you link to but simply links to the same feed so it's redundant).
Unless you can place a feed at the URL I quote above which iTunes can read (as it must have done once as there are episode showing in the Store, albeit rather out-of-date) you will not be able to redirect iTunes to your new feed.

  • New Podcast for iTunes Not Updating in the iTunes Store

    Hello Apple Community,
My name is Sara Simms, I have recently started a new DJ podcast series called Flight. My new episode has not updated yet in the iTunes store (its been over three days since I uploaded it)
My podcast episodes are hosted here:
    http://sarasimms.blogspot.ca
    My Feedburner URL is:
    feed://feeds.feedburner.com/sarasimmsflightofficialpodcast
I also uploaded new artwork via Feedburner, in the 'Podcast' section of iTunes I see the artwork has updated.
However, in the iTunes store itself, the new artwork is not displayed. Here is the link to my iTunes podcast:
    http://bit.ly/VM8tcF
I just pinged Feedburner, hopefully this helps to update everything.
Could anyone else please let me know if there's anything else I should check/change to make sure my podcast episodes are updating?
    Thank you in advance!
    Best wishes,
    Sara Simms

    Hello Sai,
You can try below and let me know the result.
I believe you must be using cycle counting method. Make sure the person name of inventory document creator and the person who actually count the document is same. If so then last counting date will be correctly updated. I would advice you to simulate below scenario.
Create the PI document and assign the name of person. And perform the actual counting by another person by exactly same method for which you were getting an error. Then observe the results.
If above solution fails to find out the cause then consult SAP.
Cheer up!! and all the best!!!

  • My feed is not updating

Feed not updating in 2 weeks any suggestions or help in troubleshooting

Again - looking at your RSS feed and what is in iTunes - and the two match up.
If there are other episodes you thought you had published - they are not making it to your source feed -
    http://imergentchurch.com/feed/podcast/
Which is showing the most recent episode with the title - The Hour Has Come - which again matches up to what is shown on the iTunes store page and what is there when you subscribe.  So the issue is not on iTunes side - it is doing what it should be and matches up to your feed.
The issue is with getting your episode(s) into your feed - and that likely is an issue with powerpress and how you are connected to it.  Maybe there is an update you missed for the plug in.  You will need to check you connections with it and follow up with the folks from powerpress.

  • Feedburner w/itunes feed details not updating

Ive been having an issue for MONTHS where my feedburner manipulated feed refuses to update with the new summary of my podcast feed from what it was originally set to in itunes. The only thing I can think of is that this is because of some weird itunes caching.
    LINK TO FEED SOURCE:
    http://www.joeshowradio.com/rss_files/feedburner.rss
    LINK TO FEEDBURNER:
    feeds.feedburner.com/MmaJoeShowRadio-UndergroundMmaRadio
for whatever reason, when feedburner updates my feed is alters the feed information to match what it was originally set to in itunes. how do I stop this from happening?

So Feedburner is not updating the info from the feed. As I understand it, what is in Feedburner in the 'itunes:subtitle'  'itunes:summary' and 'itunes:image' tags is what was there originally? - and subsequently you changed the subtitle and summary to the entries with the first sentence in capitals, and presumably must have changed the image?
Did you do this before or after adding the latgst episode? - the question being whether Feedburner is updating from the feed, just not those particular tags, or whether it's not updating at all.
I can't see why it shouldn't update - the only thing odd about the feed is the absence ot the xml declaration in the first line:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
which Feedburner adds - presumably this has always been missing anyway? - and the feed validates in FeedValidator and can be subscribed to in iTunes so this shouldn't be a problem.
If you made the changes after adding the latest episode (not at the same time) then I suppose it's possible that FeedBurner might not see the changes until the next time you add an episode - iTunes is liable to do that but I dono't know about FeedBurner.
You could also look round Feedburner and see whether there is somewhere you can over-ride the contents of these tags; I don't know whether this is possible.

  • Podcast Image is Not Updating for over Two Weeks

Hi. I use Wordpress - > Feedburner - > iTunes Store and my designated podcast image has not been updated in the Store for over two weeks. However I will note that on the Apple Podcast App, and in the iTunes Podcasting Section in my iTunes Library, the image updated almost immediately. It's only in the store that it's a problem, plus, that is the URL we use to share on Social Media. So it's code red!
I have been following all the threads, and understand that sometimes the store gets "stuck," but we are reaching hair-pulling-out-of-our-skulls mode, considering our large audience-base and the regularity with which we share the podcast on Social Media.
The outdated image, which iTunes Store is still displaying, does not exist anywhere on or offline at all. It is behaving as a ghost, not the scary kind the really f*cking annoying kind. I have no idea how in the world the store is still accessing it. It is 2014, and I simply cannot believe that Apple Technology would be this sluggish, and so I'm beginning to suspect I've messed something up somewhere, and really I'm at a loss and I can't keep telling my superiors that it's someone else's fault and HELP HELP HELP
    anyway (clears throat)
Here is the wordpress RSS:  http://stephenmansfield.tv/category/podcast/feed/
Here is the Feedburner RSS: http://feeds.feedburner.com/MansfieldPodcast
Here is the correct media URL I entered in "SmartCast -> Podcast Image Location" on Feedburner over two weeks ago:

After over 8 weeks, I got my image updated. I don't know exactly what did it. First I followed Roger's advice and changing the file name to a name that had never been used before. The fact that I reset back to an earlier image, thus a file name that had already been used, maybe confused it a little bit. So I changed the file name and re-uploaded. I also compressed the file size down a notch to make it smaller.
Finally, I bugged Apple tech support on the phone to no end (sorry sir, we don't know how to fix this, sorry sir, we don't really understand podcasting) until they gave me this email adress, and there, they told me they reset the feed:
    Podcasts at apple .com
It is 2014, and updating a dedicated Podcast image should not be this hard. They need to totally revamp their system. I think the more we complain about this on the forums, the quicker this will happen.
This is the only podcast directory that has this outdated problem. Unfortunately, it's also the most important podcast directory.
    Apple Fail.

  • Switched from Podpress to Powerpress and now feed is not updating in iTunes - Please help

    Please help...at my wit's end!
A few days ago I switched from using Podpress to Powerpress for my podcast. I followed all instructions and my feed appears to be valid. However, my podcast is not updating in iTunes at all and when I tried to resubscribe, I got an error message that said that there are no playable episodes.
Please, please...someone help. I really don't know what else to do and trying to get support from Apple or Blubrry has been fruitless.
    My feed is: http://www.surrealla.com/feed/podcast/
    Thank you!

    Hi Roger,
Well, I was unable to locate the old feed (I don't even know if it exists in the conventional way, since it was set up by Podpress), and attempted to remove my podcast completely from iTunes in order to start fresh. Unfortunately, it appears as though iTunes no longer does this and instead directs you to add a <block> tag to your feed....and around we go.
So I've pleaded via Express Lane to please, please have someone change my feed to the new http://www.surrealla.com/feed/podcast/ ...that old feed should have never been set up that way in the first place. Argh.
Question: Can I resubmit my podcast to iTunes without deleting the old one? I'd hate to do that...seems tacky...but I have no idea what else to do if the pleading doesn't work.
Thank you again - you've been so helpful!
