Hi, My sons i-pod touch has a picture of the i tunes logo with the USB port pointing to it.  I have tried to update the itunes but to no avail.

My sons i-pod touch has comeoup with thelogo of i tunes wit the usb cable pointing to it. it will not respnd at all. any ideas?

There is no such thing as "APPLESTORE" mode.
What you need to do is connect the iPod to the computer and restore via iTunes. If iTunes does not see the iPod try the following:
