I am using dev.suite10g(9.0.4) , my forms runs fine in forms developer as well as from web browser using url, as I had configured formsweb.cfg file to run forms in browser using URL
When I run reports in reports dev.10g they run,but if i run the reports Using Web browser It gives error rep-501-Unable to connect to the database.
My reports files .rdf & .jsp are at E:\10g\reports & my Oracle10gdev.home is E:\oracle10g & oracle database home is c:\orant.
I had set REPORTS_PATH In windows registry to e:\10g\reports along with the default paths
If there are some more configurations to be done with reports files such as CGICMD.DAT,repsrv.conf(stand alone report server) or rep_god.conf(in-process server) & rwservlet.properties file, please let me know or mail me these files that you had configured to [email protected]

Archiving file in different folder in sender file adapter

Hi,
I have a requirement in witch i have to pick 7 different file from seven different folder.
for this I am using advance selection tab and defining all the other folder path.
but my problem is I have to archive the different file in different folder .
For exm..
/folder1/file1.txt need to be archive in /archive_filder1/file1.txt
/folder2/file2.txt need to be archive in /archive_filder2/file2.txt
/folder3/file3.txt need to be archive in /archive_filder3/file3.txt
can any one tell me that how to define the dynamic archive folder path??.

In File Access parameters --> Target Directory
Use this type of Directory name
\XIDEV_STORES\%store%\sapoutbound
here %store% will be changed accordingly
e.g. if file will come for store 001 then this %Store% will be replaced by 001 and file will be placed in this 001 folder and if file will come for store 002 then this %Store% will be replaced by 002 and file will be placed in this 002 folder over FTP.
For to achieve this Go to Advanced tab
For Variable Substitution check mark Enable
Now speciofy the parameter values for Variable Name and Reference
Under Vriable name specify = store
Under Reference specify = payload:WP_PLU02,1,IDOC,1,EDI_DC40,1,RCVPRN,1 -
You have to give full path name here that where this store variable is located into IDOC.

Date can not display correctly in excel from .jsp

Hi,
I create a .jsp report to export the data to excel. the report run OK, except the date field can not display correctly.
for example in database :start date ='01-oct-2003'
in the except it displays to 02/06/02.
It seem all the date field can not be control in the report, and control by somthing else
Doese anyone come accross this problem?

I tried to do the same, and inserted a database date field in the JSP using Reports. I found the following:
While making the template inside Excel, if I make sure that the format of the date cells is "Date" - some particular date format, the date field values from Reports does not get exported correctly.
However, if you make sure that inside the template, the format of the date cells is not date, but "General", then the date field values are correctly exported to Excel.
Pl try it and let us know.

Inconsistency between ATP and ASCP

Thanks for looking at this message. Bit lengthy but will be interesting :-)
In our implementation we use ATP based on planning output and its a constrained ASCP plan (ECC) .
Assuming that sale sorders are available in the system and they have been entered say last month/ or even few months before with request date as the sale order entry date . We did nt have onhand at the time due to which the promise dates have been Sep-09.
Assume that we have made a receipt from supplier/or there is PO in receiving (considered as available date of today by ATP) . In this situation in case a new sales order is entered today with request date of today provided the onhand or expected receipt today is more than sales order qty , the promise date upon sales order entry is today. We do OM loopback and send back sch ship date from ASCP which gives correct dates (Sep or Oct based on lead times). But issue is in the promise date .
Issue 1: customer is questioning while there are so many existing sales orders which are already in arrears and their request dates are all in past months why does a new sales order get a promise date of today?
When ASCP runs overnight it plans based on request date and the onhand/exp receipt is pegged to earliest sales order and not the new one put in today(which is fine and as expected) , but due to the mismatch between ATP and ASCP always there is going to be mismatch in meeting promise date and Sales performance measures go for a task.
Also there all the customers are sent Order Acknowledgement (emailed upon booking order) based on the wrong promise date which causes lot of issues in explaining to each customer.
Issue 2:lets say onhand is 2 and there are 2 sales order lines one for qty 8 (req date 21-jul) and other for qty 2 (req date 23-jul) . I schedule order line 8 (req date 21-jul) first then ATP promises line after LT (say Sep-09) and the qty 2 line is promised today but when ASCP is scheduling it has ability to see request date due to which it can peg 2 onhand to earlier request date and then wait for new supply till Sep-09. The one with later request date will show ship date in Sep-09.

Both of your observations are correct. As I managed ATP development for several years, let me help explain these things to you:
1. For 1st issue, where a new incoming sales order can get better date than earlier promised sales order, please understand that ATP is based on supply/demand picture at a point in time when SO was originally processed. If supply/demand picture has changed significantly, you need to use a tool like Oracle Backlog WB to manage and re-process currently scheduled SO to re-assess where they should be promised. Once Sales Order is promised, ATP uses schedule ship date to see when material is needed and uses a supply closes to ship date (JIT). If earlier supplies are available, they're up for grabs by new SO.
Thus, the behavior is working as designed and you need to develop your business process to ensure that backlog management is practiced on a regular basis to avoid such issues.
2. For 2nd issue where you see that ATP isn't using supply to satisfy smaller qty sales order, please understand that ATP is "First-come-First-Serve" and it is working on 1 specific order at a time. When initial order of qty=8 came in, it had no way to know what lies in future or if another SO with qty=2 will come later. Compare this with ASCP which is working a complete set of supplies and demands and can analyze this picture in totality.
I'm sure you'll like your ATP request to come back in few seconds (or may be a min or so) and not take a few hours while you enjoy the hourglass on your screen. No surprise that ASCP plan run takes few hours since it needs to go thru such hoops and try to optimize across these ideas while ATP is a quick answer as what can be done for this in-coming demand considering everything else in the system is frozen.
Please note ATP and ASCP plan serve very different purpose and business process needs to be enahnced to take advantage of best of both these tools.

Letter of Credit (Urgent )

Hi All,
I needed to know if anyone has worked on letter of credit or have dealt with payment gurantee procedure configuration.
Define and Assign forms of payment guarantee has 5 different configs. First one, Define payment guarantee schema - This part of this configuration controls the sequence in which system assign the sales document ITEMS to payment guarantee procedure. I want to know where actually we can see these sequences happening. I looked at the sales order (at the item level) but system is only picking payment guarantee procedure and form of payment gurantee. I don't see any sequecial order in which I set the config.
Any input will be great!

BACKGROUND Report option

We're running 10gAS. We use web.show_document to run our reports from Forms. We have some reports that need to be ran asynchronously. We set the background=yes parameter in the URL when we run the report, but we get an error message stating that the "background" parameter has been deprecated.
The documentation for 9iAS states that the "BACKGROUND" command-line parameter has been deprecated, but it doesn't mention the new preferred method of running reports asynchronously. Also, the Reports Statement of Direction document for 10g lists "yes" and "no" as valid values for the "background" parameter using rwservlet.
So is "background" deprecated or not? If so, what is the new method of running reports asynchronously?

The BACKGROUND command line keyword is NOT deprecated. It is fully supported. Here is what Publishing Reports says about the keyword:
Description BACKGROUND specifies whether a report on the server should be run synchronously (NO) or asynchronously (YES).
Syntax BACKGROUND=YES
Note: The BACKGROUND system parameter is deprecated in Oracle Reports. BACKGROUND is used only on the command line.
So only the system parameter is deprecated. What this is means is: if you open the report in the Report Builder, and in the Object Navigator, click Data model > System parameters, you will see the BACKGROUND parameter.
If you specify the parameter=yes here, it is ignored (deprecated since Oracle Reports9i).
It is still very much supported on the "command line" as written in Publishing Reports.
Similarly, the Reports Statement of Direction document says that the BACKGROUND keyword can be used on the command line with rwservlet, rwcgi and rwclient. It is deprecated only for rwrun.
Here is the reason for deprecating it: in 6i, if you specify BACKGROUND=yes with rwrun, it would not launch a UI, and thus run in the background. However, since 9i, there is no UI associated with rwrun, so there is no use for this parameter.

6502 error

A strange error..
We get 6502 error in the before report trigger of a report.
Closing the Reports background engine and re-running the report does not give the ORA-6502 error in the BEFORE REPORT trigger.
Can some one tell me what could be the possible reason for this?
The before report trigger deletes a particular table and re-inserts the result of a query inside the table.
Around 10000 records are involved in the deletion and insertion.

Which version of Reports are you using? I see that this error ORA-6502 had been reported in some old versions of Reports. In one of the bugs for this error I found:
In the example testcase given, the procedure has an out parameter of type char. Changing this to varchar2 resolved the >> problem.-------------
Also, Metalink has some information on common causes of this error:
commonly known issues, namely :-
a) ORA-6502 PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small Easily generated if trying to assign a string of length X to a variable of type VARCHAR/VARCHAR2 that is less than X.
b) ORA-6502 PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character to number conversion error Easily generated if trying to assign a non-numeric character to a variable of type NUMBER.

Difference between booked items and requested items

Hi Gurus,
I wanted to understand the difference between
Booking History - booked items – booked date
Booking History – requested items –booked date
The Series definition has the same definition given in the hint. I checked one of the below links for the same topic but couldn't get a full view.
Which series go to Actual_quantity in Standrad collections
Can any one let me know what the difference between booked items and requested items is? As I understand in OM, we have no differentiation. Do let me know

Hi
In normal circumstances, there is no difference between requested item vs. booked item. But if you're using Item Substitution, these could be different. For example, a customer may call to request item A but for multiple reasons it may be substituted by a different item (usually an upgrade with similar form, function etc).
Oracle APS supports this functionality out of box in order promising and ASCP where it can be done based on a pre-defined relationship based on availability etc.

Running reports on web browser

We here in HCL Technologies are in the process of deploying Dev
2000 applications on Oracle Web Application Server 3.0 installed
on Window NT 4.0 Server.
I have couple of problems which i am reporting to you & i would
like to seek solution for the same.
1. I am able to create/configure report cartidge and to run
simple reports giving output file of size 20kb. The report is
running & getting displayed on the web browser.
But, if the report output is somewhere in the range of 500 or
more KB, than it is observed that full report output file is
generated in the cache directory, but it is not displayed on the
screen, instead a error "Internal error Try Again " is displayed.
Here are some specifications which might help you resolve this
problem
(A) We are using destype=cache, desformat=html
(B) Our NT Server is having a memory (RAM) of 96 MB.
2. Before running the report we want to display the parameter
form for our report, so that the user can input the required
variable parameters. But, instead it is allowing to pass the
parameters through our URL, which is not desirable.
Please, help us in resolving these problems at the earliest.

I can't help with problem 1, but I cna help with problem 2. If
you are using html files with links to the reports, you can use
the form tag to create the equivalent of the parameter form.
Example:

Sales Order from Quotation

Hi,
on sales order i m pulling the quotation no.
the quotation have lets say 2 records, quotes for 2 main items.
i use Parent Item while entering quotation. The records are ;
Item Code   Description         Qty        Price
1000           Boys Shoes         50           25
1001           Girls Shoes         20           15these Parent item have Child Items in the Item master.
Customer after receiving quotation, sends order for individual Child Items ( for e.g. size 40,41, etc)
In Item Master, the Child Items are Numbered as 1000.1,1000.2....1001.1, 1001.2...
on my Sales Order confrmation screen, i want to pull quotations details based on quotation no. ref.
but not the Parent Items, its childs items instead.
i am doing it with the help of WHEN-TIMER-EXPIRED @ form-level. i am able to populate Child Items in a NON-DB block,
just item_code and its decription on different canvas2 and window2.
in the WHEN-TIMER Query i am selecting item_code, and its decription from the ITem master;

If you can use the Bapi BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2 you need to pass all the mandatory parameters to work, furthermore, if you need to relate your sales order with a quotation, you need to pass this parameters:
In ORDER_HEADER_IN:
REF_DOC and REF_DOC_L with the quotation document number (VBELN)
In the items ORDER_ITEMS_IN
REF_DOC with the quotation document number (VBELN)
REF_DOC_IT with the item number in the quotation document (POSNR)
REF_DOC_CAT = 'B'

Changing report order using the break order property

I am trying to allow the user to pick the order of the report's data. This has lead me to ask the following questions:
How can the break order property of a Database Column be set at runtime, specifically in the Before Report program unit??? (changing the order BY clause in the SQL query will not be sufficient because report builder enforces that at least one column�s break order in each Group, other than the lowest one, must be set at design time)
How can the order of the Database Columns in a Group be re-arranged at runtime, specifically in the Before Report program unit???

I don't think that the "Break Order" property can be set programmatically, so it may not be possible to expose it to the users. I think it can only be an enhancement request to the product.

To integrate a web report in a web application

hi,
i have created a web report using ReportBuilder (wizard).
i have saved that file as a jsp,
my question is can i integrate that web report in any web application ,if yes how? plz let me know.

Hi Abdul,
The answer is yes, you can integrate your report in any web application as any other normal JSP. You can package the JSP as part of a WAR and deploy it on an application server. The only requirements are:
reports_tld.jar must be available to the application. You can put in inside the WEB-INF/lib directory of the web application.
Reports Server must be available to the JSP. If you are using Oracle9iAS for deploying the JSP, the Reports server is automatically available. If you are using some other application server like WebLogic, you can use the J2EE Thin Client (http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/examples/Tools/index.html)
