Hi,new to macs and just purchased a macbook Air,was wondering if anyone uses Microsoft Office on their macs and if it works exactly the same as on a windows based computer.
Hi all, i am new to Macs and have just purchased a Macbook Air,the only problem i have is there is no Microsoft Office installed,can anyone tell me if office for macs works exactly the same as the windows based version.
Is there any problems i should look out for ?

The Windows and Mac versions of Office are not exactly the same but few people will notice the differences between Word, Excel and PowerPoint unless they are macro gurus. Outlook is different and the Mac version doesn't include Access or Publisher.

hi! just purchased a macbook air, and because of the limited storage (256 gb) and my massive music library, I am going to find an alternative storage method. I am debating between an external hard drive and utilizing iCloud. icloud makes me a little nervous....having my entire library in "the cloud" and deleted off of my desktop - do most of you who use icloud for music and photos have a backup on external hard drive anyway? So....iCloud vs. external hard drive for storage. Thoughts? opinions? thanks!
iTunes Match allows you to put 25,000 songs in the Cloud. At present it isn't possible to add more storage but I wouldn be surprised if that isn't an option offered in the future. With iTunes Match you allow Apple to match your songs (purchased from Apple, ripped from your own CDs are purchased elsewhere). When Apple cannot match a song a copy of yours is uploaded.
Once the match process is complete (for my 24,000+ collection it took a couple days) the fun begins. Since my MBA can't hanle all my music, I use iTunes Match to download a small selection of my music every couple of weeks. My music remains in the cloud even when I delete them from my computer and if I have WiFi accesss I can get new songs. It is a great service and much more convenient than keeping your MBA's music on an external drive. -

Since you have another Mac, you could share it's DVD drive in System Preferences > Sharing.
Then use Remote Disc found on the MBair's finder's sidebar. This will mount the DVD in your old Mac to the MBair.

I just purchased a Macbook Air from the apple store and to install it i had to have my macbook plugged in so the technician told me to download it when i got home. Once i got home and turned it on it wouldn't allow me to install it without paying for it.
If you just bought it, it should already have Mountain Lion. Who did you buy it from?

You can install Office for Mac. If you don't want it, Boot Camp uses all the hardware, so it has the best performance for Windows, and Parallels allows you to run Windows in Mac without reboot and without Boot Camp. To use only this, download Parallels -

Good Evening, I have just purchased a Macbook Pro, and have downloaded two SD cards of a trip to USA and Canada last September. One via Lightrooom 4 and the other via iPhoto. I tried to import the SD card via iPhoto into Lightroom 4 but could not find it. I tried to find this "folder"? via other means with no success. however when I open iPhoto, there it is, so it must be on the Hard Drive somwhere??? I am new to Apple having decided to jump ship from Windows. Would be grateful for any help.
iPhoto is a - like Lightroom - Photo Manager. It's a database. Like any db to get data out you have to export it.
File -> Export
and in this case set the Kind to Original.
iPhoto is a $15 app, LR is somewhat more expensive. As they both want to manage the photos there's no good usage scenario where you use both. Pick one horse and ride, essentially.

How can I be able to use my Windows publisher files on my Mac computer, since Microsoft office 2011 for Mac doesn't have Publisher? What's most recommended software to use for this purpose?

Version 4.0 or newer of Libre Office can open and edit Publisher files, this is fairly new, you may not have noticed it yet,
I tested it last week for another OP, it works very well, so finally there is a Mac application that can replace Publisher.

I have a macbook pro retina and a macbook air which I just purchased, I want to share all of the music on the retina with the air.
The simplest way is to use an external USB drive. Copy the iTunes folder to the drive while it's connected to your MBP. When done eject the drive. Connect the drive to the MBA. Navigate in the Finder to the /Home/Music/ folder on the MBA. Copy the iTunes folder from the external drive into the /Home/Music/ folder.
OS X Mountain Lion- Drag and drop.
If you have a backup of your MBP, then you can use it to restore the /Home/Music/iTunes/ folder to the MBA. -
I read on the support / manual that I have to use Mac OS X Leopart intallation disk to install drivers for that windows.

I only take the 3 option in bootcamp, install Windows 7.
Do I have to deinstall Windows 7 and try it again with option 2 and 3 on in the boodcamp app?
I tried option 2 to download drivers on USB bud there is a network error so it won't work.
