I bought an locked AT&T Iphone 4S from US and currently i am in INDIA. I got it unlocked through gevy sim and it worked fine.
After few days i got "usb cable connecting to Itunes" symbol. I showed the same to some iphone engineer nearby my location.But the person said that the hardware is not able to load the software properly. So the problem remains the same. He said if the phone is in warranty you can get the replacement for the same. I just want to know whether this Iphone can be replaced from US or not. And what if if i dont have the bill? Can they do it without bill or i need the original bill. Can it be replced in INDIA also?
Plz help me. Want my iphone back in working condition asap.
Yes, we understand the problem. Diesel told you exactly what you would have to do to get your iPhone serviced, if indeed it has a hardware problem that was not caused by use of an illegal hack. Again, you will not be able to get your US iPhone serviced in India by any Apple-authorized service provider.
As to getting the iPhone unlocked by AT&T, that will be between you and them. You will need to call AT&T Customer Service and ask if you are eligible for unlocking, though if you never had service with AT&T, they will probably refuse.

but once again, you will not be able to get the iPhone replaced unless you take it to the US or send it to someone there.

I think I am following -- I was able to upload to my iPhoto and all photos and videos are there that is a plus! I tried to create an Event in my iPhoto and put all of my photos in that event but for some reason, now my iTunes it not recognizing that Event in my iPhoto. It is not allowing me to import just that event at the moment but I may be doing something wrong. At least all of my pics and vids are in iPhoto so that is a plus and I know they are at least saved somewhere. Just for some reason, my iTunes it not locating the event that I created with only those photos.

Also, I had no clue that my iCloud could be backed up via cellular data! However, is this a new feature with the most updated iOS?? Unforutnatly I am like 2 iOS updates behind because I don't have enough storage on my phone. I still get the notification that my phone needs to be plugged in and connected to wifi in order to back up to the cloud :-(
How can I sync using USB? Right now when i click on the info tab for my iPhone in my iTunes this is the answer that I get -- I am a little unclear as to what it means.

ThanksWhile unsupported, software unlocks are, in the U.S. technically not illegal. At least the courts have said that Apple and the carriers have no legal standing to charge you with a violation of the DMCA for using them.
The gevey SIM card, on the other hand, is illegal in almost every country. As in, criminal code illegal... not simply a violation of some obscure copyright law.
I'd HIGHLY advise against it. -
I have 2 iphones registered under same account, but both phones had different contacts in them, somehow icloud duplicated, exchanged them, and I turned off the icloud on one of them, while doing that it asked me if I want to keep them on my phone or not. With iCloud on the phone, you will need to remove the account, then add it back in with the new address. It is a bit awkward, but the only way to change the AppleID for the iCloud account login is to delete the account then add it back with the new credentials. You won't loose anything as the iCloud account is still the same one, you just need to re-associate the AppleID credentials for it on the iPhone.

I m from south india, living at God's country called Kerala k. well , in that iphone it showing activation screen and trying to activate. not more than that..plz help!
means.. in simple words, it is trying to activate and all( searching wifi,, taking few minutes..again searching...if it couldnt find any wifi - telling .. try connect using itunes an all)...well any way. finally I try connect to a wifi network, with full speed...3mbps..from Ravi's internet cafe in downtown.

In order to allow it to be used on a different carrier, the phone was hacked or jailbroken. An unauthorized modification was made to the phone. That modification has damaged the phone. You can not get support for it here or from Apple. -

I would first try unplugging All the USB devices plugged into your computer, and then plug back in just the iPhone and see if that is recognized. Also, do you have the latest version of iTunes for Windows installed on your PC, as you need to?

I had the same problem. Kept getting message of waiting for activation or check network connections. I also tried every solution out there and nothing worked. This did though: I download the newest version of itunes (through Internet Explorer - Google Chrome wouldn't work). It pulled in my entire library thank goodness and then I plugged my iphone 4s into the computer. I let itunes find it, did a complete backup in icloud, then did a restore. Entire process took a couple of hours, but I now have imessage and facetime back. I was about ready to give up on Apple and go get a different phone ~

yesterday i tried updating to Ios 8. i new there were going to be some problems but i decided to do it. i started the update and less than a half hour into it my phone completely crashed.it went into recovery mode so i connected it to iTunes. i hit restore and update . it gave me and estimated time that kept going up. finally when it got to 800 hours it stopped and said an error occurred. i tried it again and the same error occurred. i am very disappointed in this because i greatly need my phone for school and other important things. i wasn't gonna wait that time anyway. i would like to know if there is anyway i don't have to update, get out of this screen without waiting forever, speed up the time, or get my computer to not crash when it gets to so many hours. (i have windows) plz help me out asap!!!
I have experienced a similar error with the iPhone 4S. The new version of iTunes will not let me restore the phone, it must be updated and nothing appears to be happening. Suffice it to say I am not amused. Apple needs to work this out - I had trouble updating to 8.0.2 as well.
