That would tend to indicate a permissions issues on the computer.
Running an outdated version of iTunes is of absolutely no benefit.

Any help, text flickers in apps but not icons or pictures...

I have a Ti 1 Ghz and I am starting to have problems with my display. I am not sure what the problem is as it is very strange. When I am viewing text in apps like Word, Safari, Firefox, Textedit, (basically any app), some of the text (sometimes a letter sometimes a word or sentence) gets little black dots flickering/blinking. What's weird is they move with the word instead of staying in one spot (like a dead pixel). So when I scroll the text up or down, left or right the little blinking black dot moves with the text. It also happens when I open certain pictures (moves around with the picture) but not other pictures and so far the text under icons haven't been affected.
At first I thought maybe it is because of Tiger (I just did an upgrade - fresh install about a month ago) so I booted into OS 9 (which is on a second partition) and the same problem occurred.
So I thought dead pixels and I ran the hardware test cd. No little dead pixels showed while testing the video.
So I tried calibrating the display, that had no effect and it is now back at default.
Then I tried all the different settings for smoothing/anti alaising the fonts I could. I regularly boot up in both Japanese and English (main) settings.
So maybe drivers, so I went to the ATI website and downloaded and installed the most recent updates available.
I even thought, hey, maybe my eyes are bad. So I asked my wife whose vision is 20/20 and she agreed it wasn't just my eys.
Nothing has helped.
Has anyone had a problem like this? Does any one know what is wrong? Is it my display itself or maybe the video card?
Just a little info, I bought this PB brand new from the store and within a month the screen went pink when ever the PB was moved. So I had the displayed replaced and it hasn't had any problems since then (September 2003) until now.
Any advice would be great.

Hi, elfbp. There is no economical way to replace the screen — and no easy way, either. It's the Powerbook's most expensive part to buy, new or used, and the hardest one to remove and install successfully. Besides, you haven't determined yet that the display is what needs to be replaced, or even that anything needs to be replaced. And the symptom you report is so very odd — anomalous pixels that follow a word or words in your text, indicating that they aren't related to particular pixels or regions in the display — that I have no idea how to go about trying to isolate the cause.
For what it's worth, the service manual for your Tibook model contains the following video troubleshooting section. It's not directed at your particular problem, but your particular problem isn't mentioned at all, and this may suggest some useful procedures or clues:
"No display, or dim display, but computer appears to operate correctly:
1. Remove any connected peripherals.
2. Make sure F1 key is not stuck down.
3. Press the F2 key (with the fn key pressed and not pressed) to increase the screen brightness settings.
4. Reboot the computer—hold down the Control and Command keys and press the Power button to restart the computer. Or, press and hold the Power button for 5 to 10 seconds to shut down the computer, then press the Power button to restart.
5. Make sure using the PowerBook (1GHz/867MHz) power adapter (66-1798)
6. Verify inverter flex cable and LVDS cable connections are seated properly and that the cables are not damaged (refer to inverter board and display module replacement instructions).
7. Replace inverter board.
8. Replace display assembly.
9. Replace logic board."
Note in particular that checking the display cable connections and replacing the inverter board are both suggested before replacing the display itself. And I would be inclined also to replace the logic board before the display, since it's less expensive and much easier to install. By the time you've replaced an inverter and a logic board, you'll be well on your way to spending what the Powerbook is worth in good condition on the current market, and replacing the display may put you over that value. This is not to say you shouldn't do it, but if you could get a comparable used Powerbook in good working order for less than you might spend fixing yours, that's at least an option worth considering.
I have no idea what professional repair options are available to you in Japan, but if I were you, I'd look into them. Don't use any repair service that isn't Apple-authorized.

King Penguin gave you the best and only answer anyone here can give you, so there's no need to be rude to him. Many people have reported that their debit cards are no longer accepted, and they're not listed as an accepted payment method on the page KP linked to.
You can try contacting the iTunes Store and asking if there is any way to use your card, but they probably will tell you that it's not possible.

HELP - Add Songs to Shuffle, but NOT iTunes Library...?

Hi everyone,
I have had a 4th generation iPod for the past several years and decided to add a new 2G Shuffle to my inventory just a few days ago. I received my Shuffle directly from Apple today and was quick to open the box and work on setting up my new "toy". Unfortunately, I've seemingly run into a road block, and I'm hoping someone can help.
With my 4G iPod, I was always able to drag and drop songs directly onto my iPod without even involving my computer's iTunes library, whatsoever. (IE - I could drag an MP3 file from a open Windows folder to my iPod icon in iTunes, and the song would be added to my iPod) Unfortunately, I can't get my Shuffle to allow me to do this. At the very least, I'd like to be able to add a song to my Shuffle from my library, but then remove it from my library, yet keep it on my iPod. However, once the song has been transferred over to the Shuffle from iTunes, if I delete the track from the library, it is also removed from the Shuffle.
Can anyone help me with this...?

I want to be able to add songs directly to my Shuffle without having to go through the iTunes library.

Help! pc recognizes ipod but not software

I just had my 20 gb ipod replaced with a 20gb color display ipod. Best buy did not give me the software disc according to their "warranty". I used my original disc to download the software, and updated it by using the free download on the apple website. I now have itunes 5.0 and when I connect my ipod to the computer a window pops up saying that it recognizes the ipod, but that the computer doesn't have the software and to download it from their website or the installation disc. I need help! Please anyone who knows how to fix this

Help with Flash Video - Loaded but not playing...

I created an SWF file which plays correctly on my system but
does not play
on the web.
I had a previous version of the SWF file working correctly.

difference is that this swf was remade with audio.

Search Help works in SAP GUI but not in PCUI - CRM_UI

Hi,
I have created a Search Help for creaing Complaints w/ref to Invoice(using the BADI CRM_COPY_BADI_EXTERN) and in the search help i have used standard data elements, so that it brings the standard Search Helps for the fields in the actual Search Help. I get the F4 values in the standard screen (CRMD_ORDER) in the SAP GUI, however i dont see the Searh Help values in WEB UI.
Is there anything else i need to do for me to get the F4 option in the Web UI as well?

Hi Harshit,
I have tried F2 and found out the component and did some research on it:
1) I wasn't able to press F2 once the Pop Up for the Search Help triggered. I was able to press F2 in the screen before i pressed F4. That is, i was able to get the component of the Reference Field in the Complaint Transaction. I wasn't able to press F2 once i get the Search Help.
2) I used the component that i found and tried to change properties, but all that the component has is regarding the Reference Field only. I dont see where i can give the code for the fields in search help.
Am i missing something here? Is it that we can't define properties for the fields within the search help?
Please share your thoughts.

Please help, jsp page wants missing ";" but not to good with jsp?

I have a JSP page called ftplogin.jsp
I want the jsp page to call a ftpbean.
It will pass server, username and login into the ftpbean.
It will then set the directory and finaly retrieve a a document from it.
The ftpbean works but my jsp page doesn't. Please help with compilation problem?????

Help Needed on a similar but not same class loader problem

There is a ClassLoader called MyLoader that overrides default findClass() method to decrypt already encrypted class files available in a separate jar file.
MyClass also contains a public static method launchMe() method that starts off with a call similar to loadClass("ApplicationMainClass");
The MyLoader class is also encrypted
I modified the default launcher (c) code to:
First find the encrypted MyLoader file then decrypt it and create a byte array.
The byte array, along with the system class loader and other required arguments, is passed to DefineClass native method (defined in jvm.dll)
Note: The system class loader class has been instantiated using static method ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader() through Java's invocation API.
The DefineClass succeeds and I'm able to instantiate MyLoader and later call launchMe() to start application.
Now i come to the problem:
I'm not able to use any class other that those in rt.jar (i.e.standard classes) in MyLoader class. I end up with a runtime error ClassDefNotFoundError while trying to load any third party jar.
The classes i need are present in class path and also in the local jre's ext that i use to launch my app.
Although i can avoid using third party jar in MyLoader but if there is any way...

or else put rt.jar and external jars under same folder

Disc utility help! USB shown there but not on finder!

Hi!
I cannot access the information on my USB drive as it does not show on Finder (Macbook Pro with Retina Display - Late 2013).
I am using the 32GB SanDisk Cruzer Edge with some important documents that I would like to retrieve.
But then I found out that the disc was recognized on disc utility.
HOWEVER in my situation, I was unable to first aid the disk as the buttons 'verify disk' and 'repair disk' were all grey.
I tried to unmount the usb but it says that it couldn't until I 'first aid' the disk...
Any suggestions to how I can fix this?!!

Thanks for your help. I can see the ipod icon on desktop when I connect but it doesn't show up in itunes like it used to. This is only on my laptop(ibook). It works fine on my imac. Do I need to reinstall itunes? If i do will I lose all my saved music? Are there some preferences in itunes I need to adjust. Thanks for your help!

Does this document contain anything useful? Reinstalling iTunes won't erase your music library, either on your machine or your iPod.

Help - Can Connect to Router but not Internet

I just upgraded to a new hard drive. After reinstalling Windows XP, I tried to connect to my router (WRT54GS) which is working fine, but can't connect to the internet. This is a second laptop (first still connected to internet just fine). I've tried connecting directly to the router via ethernet cable and wirelessly, but can't connect to the internet either way. I'm looking for any advice on how to resolve! Thanks!!

Connect the computer to the router .... access web interface of the router ....
Look for MAC address clone sub-tab .... under setup tab .... click enable & clone ..... click save settings ....
Go to status tab ..... look for internet ip address ....
Do power cycle ....
Check if you are online or not .....

Hi all, i have a WLSE 2.15.2 and AP 1100 12.3(JEB), the state of the AP NM status is authenticated instead of security keys setup, they know because can be?, by this razon apparently does not send the AP the messages of RM to the WLSE, thanks.

Can you try to Enable *all* radio interfaces so that they're "up" in the "show ip interfaces brief" and then redo the inventory on the WLSE. Leave them up until the wlccp link comes to "SECURITY_KEYS_SETUP". Once it comes to that state, you can shut down the radio interface.Even after a reload, the SECURITY_KEYS_SETUP will remain.To expedite the process, run a Discovery job on the AP.
