using tcode pvh1 or ooer, I did bdc for external instructor for training and event management,after recording ,i created the remote function module for dotnet. if he enters
the first name and last name it has to return the objid(external instructor id,which is created by sap).the table is hrp1000 and object type is "H". name is stored in stext
the problem is in bdc recorded the first name and last name,,but in data base
stored as stext,how to solve this issue ,can suggestion pls.

I hope you question is a combination of BI and Basis related. you can post this in BI section for the quick answer. Regarding the system landscape, its all depends on the organization. one company may go for 2 system landscape and others may go for 3 system landscape.

SAP System Message: Syntx error or generation error in a screen

dear sap basis gurus,
i am currently having problems signing on to our DEV server. i get this error message:

Syntx error or generation error in a screen.
it won't let me log on.
there were no changes made on the server (i.e., profile parameters) lately. it was working really fine after our support package level upgrade about 5 months ago.
have you encountered this problem before? please help me as there we have two imminent go-lives.

Single Sign On Authentication on SAP EP 6.0 SP15+ base on Novell

Hi all,
I saw that starting from NW SP15, the kerberos authentication for SSO on the Enterprise Portal is suggested instead of NTLM authentication with IISproxy using Windows AD as user repository.
Now I have to investigate the possibility to achieve Enterprise Portal authentication in SSO against a Novell infrastructure.
On my network users authenticates themselves using UserID/password stored in Novell eDirectory repository. I wonder if SAP certifies the SSO kerberos authentication also on the Novell environment and what are the requirements in terms of needed software pieces on Novell side (ex NMAS) and network infrastructure (Windows, Netware, other).
Briefly I'd like to know:
- Is there the possibility to achieve SSO authentication for EP if using Novell eDirectory? Is it a SAP certified solution? Is it supported for production sites? Are there available papers on configuration activities to be done?
- Is the kerberos authentication the right way to achieve this?
I'd like to add another piece of complexity. In reality I have a complicated network where a group of users (belonging to a company division) authenticates on a Novell realm using eDirectory, and a second group of users (belonging to another company division) authenticates on a standard Windows AD. The new interesting question is:
- Can the EP SSO be configured with kerberos authentication using a multiple realms configurated in a priority list? I'd like to have to possibility to configure a list of KDC to be contacted on cascade one after the other to authenticate login requests.I gave a look to the WAS J2EE krb5.conf file and it seems that nothing prevent to configure the J2EE engine to configure multiple kerberos realm. I just wonder if it is supported.
If some SAP EP gurus could give an answer I would really appreciate VERY much.

We are about to have a look on the same issue: Providing Kerberos-based (SPNego) SSO to the SAP NW portal using eDirectory.
Reading the online help it seems that SAP only has testet this on Active Directory and I cannot see it as a certified solution nor find any configuration documents on this.
However in 3 or 4 weeks we will try to use the "standard configuration" (from the online help) against eDirectory and basically the directory (AD, eDirectory etc) just have to provide a keytab file, userstore and a service user - this must be possible for Novell eDirectory as well as for MS AD. Of cause we expect some challenges, but it should be possible!
If you gain any information or gain some experiences trying - please infor us.
I will update this when we get any new information.

Read the information message carefully. Then proceed, if you intend to have custom "standard" texts (sort of an oxymoron, but everyplace I've been does this)...
If you are working in a customer system, only create standard texts using the following naming convention:
Initial letter Y or Z in the text name with any text ID
or
Initial letter Y or Z in the text ID with any text name

500 SAP Internal Server Error, in WD report while launching SC in SRM 7.01

Dear SAP WD Gurus,
We have recently upgraded the SRM 7.0 to EHP1 after that we are getting ths below
We have created Z WD application genarating report in SRM 7.0, we have provided a hytep link in row to display shopping cart in the report. on click of display we are getting error as below on Browser (Portal)
500 SAP Internal Server Error

where the URL is properly working fine if we run through browser.
and even getting dump as below

FYI this is the wrong forum. Even though the problem started taking place after an UPG/EHP, this is still a matter for the Portal team, not the ugprade one
Anyhow I'll try to help you. This dump is mostly seen when you call the webdynpro from a non-supported browser. Please check PAM (http://service.sap.com/PAM) for the supported ones.
Are you using a SM59 call to the WD? You can not connect to a Webdynpro
application via SM59 as SM59 is not a supported. You can only use the browser visible in the PAM to access WD. /* e.G. IE 6.0, IE 7.0, Firefox */

Role Upload template for SAP GRC CUP 5.3

Good Morning / Afternoon / Evening SAP Security Gurus,
I am looking to upload end user roles via a role upload template spreadsheet for use in SAP GRC CUP 5.3. I am referring specifically to the recommended template mentioned in step 11 of the 5.3 Post Installation CUP guide, so that roles can be picked within ERM for workflow.
According to the guide, it recommends uploading from the backend systems via a spreadsheet - any template versions or advice on finalising this would be most appreciated.

They have to maintain the Organization Assignment. Then only you can use the Employee name in Person Responsible field.

SAP Standard Workflow for PR Release (with user exit)

Hi SAP WF Gurus,
Good day!
I just wanted to check with you if you have ever used a user exit in the activation of the standard workflow for PR (overall ( release. What we have is a two0step approval process wherein each level has a proxy/alternate approver. We used the available user exit to accommodate this customer requirement since the standard release would only allow us to define 1 approver as a prerequisite for the next level. We were able to execute this on the first level approval; however, we observed that the workflow is not anymore triggered (i.e. does not send work items to agents) for the level 2 release. My questions therefore are:
1. How to set up SWEC? I already executed SWELS and SWEL to check if the events are being created and event linkage is automatically deactivated after running into an error regarding the binding...My initial SWEC setup is for BANF BUS2105 RELEASED On Change. I am assuming that since the workflow was released from the first level, this should be the starting point
2. How to rectify the binding error? I already executed automatic binding in the WF header for the start events but still face it

Just to add:
The error that I am encountering in the second run/cycle for the PR approval workflow is Import container contains errors (are any obligatory elements missing?)
Basically, WS20000077 will be executed if an approval level is seen. Once the approval is made, then the workflow is also completed. However, for multiple approvers, I only get to execute successfully the first level approval. The succeeding levels are encountering errors as stated above

Check the table RSPCCHAIN.
I mean, Use Table RSPCCHAIN and give the local chain tech name in VARIANTE field and search, in out put you will get meta chain name under the field CHAIN_ID.

If you work on a specific Application area in BW like say FI, MM, PP , etc. you are a BW functional. They rather look for the functionality and not for the underlying code.
But if you are working across application areas then you are BW technical. They are the ones who do all the development like creating BW objects and activating them, developing BW objects according to the design specs(FS and TS),data modeling skills,ABAP coding skills for routines and exits.Sort of skills required by person working in development phase of work
Generally BW Technical people are expected to have some basic functional knowledge. But if they really have very good functional knowledge in atleast one application area then they are generally called "Techno-functional Consultants".
Their work includes to look into Functioanlity and also desing and development of the BW objects.

Some questions about SAP Gateway

Hey, SAP gateway gurus,
I am new to SAP gateway and I created a SAP gateway service based on what I learned in the online tutorial video.
When a SAP gateway service URL is called in our shop, we will use a service account as the calling user.
(1) How and where the service account user name and password are passed? attach them to the URL?
The URL looked like http://server_name:port number/sap/opu/odata/sap/Finance_SRV/INTERNAL_ORDERS/?$format=json
(2) How can we pass and post a batch file in JSON format to a SAP gateway service? Is there any sample out there?
(3) How can I return the regular HTTP error message number in the DPC_EXT method if there is error during the query or update process?

You cannot save reports to BW in the current release. As for integration with the BI Platform, that is optional but depends on your requirements.
