GAP-ANALYSIS:
GAP Analysis in simpler terms refers to study of existing state of system and desired state of system, there by identifying the gap between states. In the context of SAP, GAP analysis is very important before implementation of SAP system. The implementation team should study what is that an SAP system can provide for each business process and what is the actual business process. One should evaluate each such gap and should find out the ways to fill the gap. The gap might be filled in different ways: System enhancements, custom ABAP code development, interfaces with some other external systems. etc.

Newbie - First Project with SAP Team... Monitoring Solutions/Strategy?

I just started my first job out of school two weeks ago. My first project is to work on a "monitoring strategy" for our large SAP enterprise system. We have CRM, SRM, ERP, Sol Man, EDOS, XI, etc... I am supposed to dig into each of these portions of SAP and determine what may need monitored and how to set that up... Does anyone have any ideas of how I should get started? Issue in SAP GUI 7.0 for ECC6 (ABAP Editor not working)

Dear SAP Team,
We have installed SAP ECC6.0 EHP4.We have installed SAP GUI 7.0 in our clients machine but in some machines the ABAP Editor i.e Tcode SE38 is not working properly.When our Client selects any transaction for editing the system gets HANG.
We have tried uninstalling & reinstalling the software & the patch but the problem still persists.The configuration of all our client machine are same & we work on Windows XP platform.Please help us in solving our issue as soon as possible.

you mean the SAP Gui for windows 7.20 or 7.10?
Please install the latest Sapgui Patch 3 for the Sapgui 720, or the Sapgui
Patch 19 for the Sapgui 7.10.
As workaround, please use the OLD frontend editor.

SOA/BPM: Can this be acheived in SAP?

We want to create/update a Customer Master data. So we we send a message (IDOC) via the Websphere Message Broker to SAP/3.
Now in a pure EAI approach there is no process for escalation of errors in the in creation/update of Customer Account data becasue when the data is sent to SAP, a code will be returned to indicate if this was successful and there after the actual create/update process is internal to SAP. In other words, it is invisible to the business process. Basically all we can know is that the SAP team have to do something, they may have done it. However, we have no way of being certain that it has been done.
From SOA/BPM approach (if it were possible in SAP), an error in the customer account create/update would be escalated via the process as a human task, or perhaps automated recovery can be used. We would not expect SAP to take any further responsibility. This is better for business process exceptions (as opposed to transient technical ones) as lets face it, the problem then is most likely in the process and/or data rather than SAP.
So is there a way of implementing a true BPM scenario when integrating with SAP? Basically, data is sent to SAP, SAP processes it immediately and sends back a status code synchronously to indicate whether the IDOC was processed successfully or not, preferably.
If this possible, how would one put a solution like this into place?

sure there are many ways to implement it in SAP
1. you can use a BAPI instead of IDOC to create customer:
BAPI_CUSTOMER_CREATEFROMDATA1
you call it in a sync way and get teh response immediately
2. if you want to use IDOC, IDOCs in ERP can start w workflow
which can send in an async way a response to anywhere
about what did the idoc do (error, success)
so sure it's possible

Receiver SOAP HTTPS channel certificate issue in SAP 7.31

Hello SAP team,
We have imported the Partners Https certificate in our NWA and have tried to click the check box of certificate authentication in communication channel .
However we are still getting an error in CC " SSLcertificate exception : Peer certificate rejected by chain Verifier " .
Could you you please tell us that what are we missing on and why are we getting this issue .

Is the cert provided a self-signed cert or signed by a CA entity? If the latter, you need to import all the Certs in the chain of trust (intermediate and root) into Trusted CA key store too.
You can normally get the CA certs directly from the CA's website, but if you are unsure, you can check with your partner.

MICR CODE and IFSC CODE in SAP

Hai friends,
I want to know whether there is any code named
MICR CODE or IFSC CODE in SAP .I came across these two in a software called PROFITERA. This is basically the code printed on BANK CHEQUES next to CHEQUE No..
When we type these two codes in profitera or any banking software then it will give the entire details of the payee,name,bank,etc,..
So i want to know whether any person in abap has worked on these twocodes...
My profitera team member wants these two details attached in the format which SAP team provides them
I know that we can store them in Ztables and provide the same to them..But i want to know whether it is internally present in SAP.

SAP HR to SAP FICO (Interface)

Require your advise..
In our company we are using for both payroll and accounting SAP.
Once we are through with payroll we are posting the accounting entries through Interface, however if we see in FICO for few GL accounts payroll amount and GL balance is not matching for this again we are manually passing the manual entries.
With your experience can you please help me how to match the payroll data to FICO data. Have check our internal SAP team they are saying due to retro we need to pass the difference amount through manually. But I am sure process will not be like this.
Require your expertise advise.
Eg : As per Payroll data (Payregister) Special allowance amount is Rs.10,00,000, after positng the entries into GL special allowance GL showing Rs. 9,00000/- there is difference of 100000 for this we are passing the manual entry.

Posting takes into considerations the Retro ( Previous months) Amounts also.
The Payregister will give you idear about the Current month.
This can happen in case of many wagetypes that might not have Arrears Wagetype.
(It is also possbile that the Wagetype might not have been included in the Payregister).
Talk to the HR person to reconsile the Posted results with the Payregister - Employee wise.
(By double clicking The G/L in T-Code - PCP0).

Pls advice to make a career path in SAP

My qualification is MCA... Fresher... working in past 4months... Now am supporting Internal Billing applications of my organization developed by ASP and ASP.net with back end SQL server.... In my team SAP people also there for support to the functions of HRIS (Human Resource Information System and the Billing Applications). I am having the opportunity to get the knowledge from the SAP team... with in short period am able to slowly and slowly move to that team.. So please advise me is that SAP functions are having good growth.... and i start to learn technical SAP ABAP first by that suggestion given by that SAP team member... pls anybody give advise?

It is you to decide whether you should opt for technical or the functional expertise based on your qualifications and interest areas. As you are the best judge of your own skills!!
As per my take, seeing your experience i strongly feel that you have some technical background and should opt for the technical ABAP expertise. In case u feel that you are good at the functional expertise as well and can make a mark then you should go for techno functional modules which requires the knowledge of both the technical as well as functional i.e., in case of all Industrial modules like the ISU etc.

I don't have any experience in SAP, I am planning to join Certification course for SD+ISRETAIL and I Checked with one of SAP Authorized training Center and got overview of IS RETAIL.
Retail industry is booming accross the world (including India) i think there will be enough opportunities for SAP IS Retail Consultants(this is one of the reason for changing Career path) . I believe experience i have gained in retail domain from last four years will be useful in implementing SAP IS Retail to suit client requirements.
I would request your guidence and suggestion on this.

In india you can target cos like IBM, Accenture which have big SAP Teams.
I feel you should go for IS Retail certification, not sure why you wanna do SD.

Quotation comparison in SAP

I work for a construction group (Group ABC), we have SAP ECC implemented. I joined here about 2 weeks ago. And I am shocked knowing the way SAP is used here, more of emails used than SAP itself for processes.
I am working for a company (Company C) within the group which has been setup to do purchases for the projects. We are not located at the project sites (Company A&B) (intercompany).
We (Company C) get RFQs from one site and from another we get PRs, these are downloaded from ME4L and ME5A respectively every morning! The buyers at Company C are then assigned with PRs manually and they have to contact vendors, negotiate and get quotations. There are no PIRs maintained (Only PIRs created from past POs rolled data), nor any source lists.
Now is where I need help:
The buyers at Company C enter various quotations from suppliers into an excel spreadsheet template called “comparitives”, and the spreadsheet is sent to the project Company A or B via E-mail, they select the materials & vendor based on pricing and other criteria, the spreadsheet is then sent back to the purchasing team at Company C with the selection of vendor and materials which is then further negotiated by the buyers.
This is a process (Emails) which I am sure firms do not ideally use for this purpose, other than to communicate or notify etc. Is there a way that this can be moved to SAP? Is there something standard in SAP for this? It is more like an intercompany situation, however we do not have or store the materials, they are shipped directly to the project site from the vendor.
Looked at vendor evaluation, doesn’t seem right because these may be new vendors or new materials and I suppose vendor evaluation works based on past POs issued. (correct me if Im wrong)
Unfortunately, the company doesn’t have an SAP team in-house, they have outsourced it to a third party and no changes are approved easily, because of cost issues. Any help would be great. I am no consultant, however I have fair understanding on SAP MM processes. If there is a way this can be done without development, that'd be great!

Yes you can attach an image to the PR if you have a document management system configured. Open the PR in ME52N and say create attachment:
Once you have attached the file, click on the services menu again and click on send as shown below. The PR will go to the required person in his SBWP and he can go over the price comparison.

Publishing Reports with BO Integration Kit for SAP

I have the BO Integration Kit for SAP installed locally and have been able to publish the reports to the Enterprise Server. I'm also able to Open Reports from the SAP tab. However, I've created a lot of "test" reports which I no longer want to see in the list of reports. I've removed the reports from BO CMC but the Open Reports tab (SAP) still displays the ones I've removed from CMC. Where is this list stored? Are the report definitions stored within SAP? I've heard that the report definition is stored in SAP and the physical report is saved to the BO Enterprise Server. But no one within our SAP team has any idea and claim these are stored on the BO server.
(Someone tell me I'm not the only one in the universe trying to use Crystal Reports with SAP)

You can use the "Crystal Content Admin workbench" (transaction /crystal/rptadmin) and delete the reports from SAP BW and BOE ins a single step
its part of the Transports of the SAP Integration Kit. You need to import the transports into the BW System
