Hi- Sending Alesis Q49 Midi to Logic P. 9- There is no Playback once it is Recorded.

It all works up to Playback- I can hear the sound being recorded into Logic Pro and it shows that there is a recording- and when in playback, I can see the recording levels- but No sound on playback... Any suggestions?? I have seen this subject posted before- but to date, I have not seen a resolution response. Thanks!

In  playback you see recording levels?
There are no "recording levels" in MIDI. MIDI is NOT audio, it is not even sound, they are notes that can/should trigger a software instrument or an external (hardware) instrument. I think what you are seeing is MIDI activity, it is the MIDI you recorded earlier. If the MIDI produced sound while recording (because it was/must have been triggering a software instrument) it should equally do so after recording, as it should trigger that same software instrument. So it seems you have changed something somewhere. Alas, my powers of psychicly seeing into your session using my crystall ball and/or Tarot cards and/or the flight patterns of Housemartins, black storks and Nilegeese seem to have dwindled into unusefullness, so I guess it is up to you to provide the necessary information by means of the o so boring written word. Or screenshots, also good.
So which software instrument is loaded on that track? And which MIDI channel is it set to? And which MIDI channel do your MIDI events have (select region and hit the E key to see the Event list)

  • When running a "stand-alone" APP..how do I send midi from Logic?

    Hi all,
    When running a "stand-alone" APP..how do I send midi from Logic?.....Please no IAC stuff it doesn't work.......thanx
    SvK

using IAC here no problems. works very well.
you can host your au's in another app such as soundflower or au lab, but you are still going to need to get it to hear midi. you can use physical midi ports with something like a MTP midi interface, and getting the midi by routing the out of one port to the in of another (midi loop) but you have to be careful logic doesn't listen to the same midi signal or everything will jam up (midi feedback).

How do I send my BMP info from logic to pedals and keys?
Is it possible to sync my logic bmp with my microkorg so that my korg automatic will sync with the BMP from logic?

I'm not faniliar with the Micro, but logic outputs mtc and midi clock. The serttings are under project settings/synchronization. You'll have to set the Micro to external sync and be sending midi info from your computer to the Micro. Then if you hit play or record in Logic, the micro will chase it.

  • Basic question: sending patch, bank changes in Logic Pro 7.1

I find that when I use Logic's Track Mixer to assign patch and bank information to a midi track, my sound modules (usually an old Roland SC-8820 and a new Korg Micro X) play what they are supposed to (though I don't have a multi-set for the Korg yet, working on one). But when I save my Logic song, close Logic and reopen the song, the correct patch and bank info is not necessarily sent to the synths. The Track Mixer correctly shows my patch and bank settings (in the CC#00 and CC#32 boxes, etc.) but these banks and patches don't play -- unless and until I go ahead and click in those MSB or LSB boxes in the Track Mixer. I don't have to change anything, just click. Then apparently the Track Mixer sends the patch information and my synths play what they are supposed to play. Is this the way Logic always works? Is there anything else I can or should check or uncheck? (It's a drag, when working on a song with a lot of tracks, to have to click every track again every time to get the right patches playing.)

Thanks for the suggestions, but things still aren't working. To implement what I think you are recommending:
In the Logic Pro menu, Preferences, MIDI submenu, Reset Message tab, there is a checkbox for "Send Used Instrument Settings on Reset." I've checked it.
In the File Menu, Song Settings, MIDI submenu, General tab, there is a "After Loading Song Send __ Used instrument MIDI settings" checkbox. I've checked it, too.
But with both checkboxes checked, I still don't get the right patches when the song loads -- yet, as before, just clicking in either MSB or LSB boxes in the track mixer seems to send the values I've previously put in those boxes, and the song plays as it should.
As to the other idea: by "insert the instrument settings into the beginning of each track," I am thinking that you mean choose "Insert Instrument Settings as Events" from the MIDI menu in the arrange window. Went there, did that. But for some reason after I do so my events list gets amended to show the patch I've selected for that track in the Track Mixer, but not the MSB or LSB -- CC#00 or CC#32-- settings I entered in the Track Mixer.
    Suggestions?

  • Send and recieve MIDI

I've been working on a project for quite awhile now... Started with a GM MIDI track for my Synth. After I recorded my synth to audio I then changed the GM MIDI track to an Audio Inst. track, to use the Garage band 'Stings' instrument instead. Anyway, I went back to that track to do some work for the strings part only to find that I am not sending or receiving MIDI DATA... I can if I open another project just fine. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong here?? You help is greatly appreciated

Well even if I do not have any MIDI or instrument channels selected, I should still see some activity at the transport panel right...? There isn't any activity right now, but only if that specific project is loaded. It was working in the beginning, but now it is not.
If I load a new project, however, then the activity comes back...(at the transport). I'm not exactly sure what you mean about port and channel settings, or what it is cabled to. I'm not sure that would help this, as I kind of think this might be a bug, but I'm willing to try anything... Anyway, I already imported the audio files into a new project, just so I could continue working. But, I would like to know if I did something to cause that in case it happens again, then I'll know what to do! lol!! I've never experienced this type of thing before, and I've been working with audio software for 10+ years now... I am new to Logic though, so it is very possible that I am simply missing something.

  • Unable to Convert Sender Service to an ALE Logical system

    Hi,
I am doing a simple SOAP -> PI 7.11 -> IDOC scenario. All objects are created and activated. In testing I get an error
Unable to convert the sender service TemporaryDisconnection_Sender to an ALE logical system
    Sender is a Business Service.
I search SDN and found this blog /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/03/29/xi-error--unable-to-convert-the-sender-service-to-an-ale-logical-system
I did the Compare with SLD for the Business System. But still the error comes.
In mapping I Disable EDI_DC40 segment.
Also find one suggestion which tells to change the Header Mapping in Receiver Agreement, what exactly should I put in Sender Communication Component of the Header mapping?
    Thank you,
    Pankaj.

    Hi,
In this thread I could find a solution by Michal: Unable to convert the sender service to an ALE logical system
    3. click on sender service (header mapping section) and select your business system that represents XI business system
Will try if it works for me also.
If there are any suggestions, then please do post.
    Thank you,
    Pankaj.

  • Unable to convert the sender service to an ALE logical system

    Hello,
    file adapter > XI 3.0 > Idoc adapter > r/3 system
In sxmb_moni I receive "Unable to convert the sender service to an ALE logical system".
In we05 in r/3 system no Idocs are arrving. I have no problem with idoc > XI >  idoc scenario to this same r/3 system (using same sld business system)
I read other topics on this error but it seems they all talk about an IDOC outbound interface.
    What should I check?

    Hi,
Have u checked the logical system is added in the Sender Business service in the Integration Directory?
Open the Buiness Service/System --> EDIT-ADAPTER SPECIFIC IDENTIFIERS
then specify the logical system name.
    Go throgh the following link

  • Once again: Unable to convert sender service to an ALE logical system

    Hi,
I know there's a lot of threads regarding that error but I didn't find one that fits to our current scenario:
    IDoc -> XI -> File
We have checked if the logical system name in SALE (of sending system) fits to the one in the business system and it does now.
It didn't fit at first but we've changed it in the SLD and reimported the business system.
We still get the same message:
    <SAP:Code area="IDOC_ADAPTER">ATTRIBUTE_INV_SND_SERV</SAP:Code>
<SAP:Stack>Unable to convert sender service to an ALE logical system</SAP:Stack>
There is no logical system entered in the receiver business system. Do we need that? But of which logical system?
    Thanks for any advice

    Hi,
    Acknowledgments
Receiver adapters that run on the Adapter Engine support system acknowledgments if they are requested by the sender.( Ex : Idoc----File). Here by default Idoc has the inbuilt feature of requesting the Ack.
Acknowledgments are triggered when a message is successfully processed by the adapter or if an error occurs while it is being processed. Receiver adapters do not support application acknowledgments.
Sender adapters of the Adapter Engine do not request any acknowledgments

  • Getting error message ' Unable to convert sender service to an ALE logical

    Hi,
I am using idoc to  file.
and my xi system is working  fine.  at sudden when i process one idoc . I got this message.
Unable to convert sender service to an ALE logical system
Here in  monitoring,  i am able to see the  success falg but  in acknowledgement  column,  i see  system error..
I did no  change in configuration.
    Your inputs will be appreciable.

    Hi,
Also, is it possible that the XI system was recently upgraded?
As you indicated that no config changes were done, therefore, such error should not just pop up with no reason.
In an earlier release of XI (sorry I cannot recall the SP level), IDOC ack was not provided.  However, in a later release, it is the default.

    Hi,
My scenario is IDOC to File.
    SLD:Configured Correctly ,ABAP Business System.
Imported the same in ID,under Adapter specific Identifiers gava the Logical system as in WE20.
In the Receiver Agreement,Header mapping tried giving the sender service,Receiver service.
Still the Error "Unable to convert the sender service to an ALE logical syst" is seen in SMQ2.
The file is getting generated at receiver directory mentioned in the receive CC.
There is no error seen in SXMB_MONI.
Did any one had a problem as this.
    Thanks,
    Srinivasa

    Hi,
You need to specify the Logical Name of Business System under Adapter specific identifiers for your Receiver Business System.
The specified item was not found.
Secondly you can use Header Mapping in Receiver Agreement. Or
If you are taking your control records from payload then tick the check box "Apply Control Records from Payload".

Still i am getting this error can anyone please let me know what to do now..??
    Please treat this as urgent

    Hi,
This error is caused when Sender System name does not match the logical system name of partner. As you mentioned you have done all the steps to ensure that, here's a checklist that could be helpful:
    1. Check adapter specific parameters for sender system.
    2. Maintain header mapping in receiver agreement and ensure that sender service name provided is same as business partner name required in R3 and business partner type is LS.
    3. This may sound very basic, but ensure that checkbox for 'Apply control record from payload' is not checked and if it is then the values passed through payload are appropriate.
    Hope this would be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Bhavish

  • Syncing Tascam DA78 via midi to Logic

    Hi,
I am trying to sync a Tascam DA78 to my Logic 8 studio via midi. I can get the Tascam to sync in "park" but my Logic transport won't control the Tascam DA78.The tascam will chase to wherever I am in my logic project, but I am trying to bounce in sync and need to start the DA78 from Logic I believe.
I must be missing something...is there something somewhere that says it's ok for Logic transport to control the DA78?
    Thanks.
    -Tim

    still stumped!
So...I got the tape deck icon in the top position. It lets me arm a track on the Tascam (which I don't need to do...I need to playback only)
I can record onto that tape deck icon track..sort of. It records a blank track (labled MMC recording) and stops at bar 5 consistently. And the logic playhead bar does not move during this process.
some other settings I'm not sure of:
    >Midi cable into Tascam DA78 from midi sport USB interface. Do I need any other midi cables going?
    >Tascam will now kick on from transport as long as I have Sync Mode internal and auto enable external sync checked. But having this checked disables Logic transport from starting Logic. I can control the Tascam only with auto enable checked. When I uncheck it Logic will then respond as normal but the Tascam will only locate to the playhead and not chase Logic in sync which is what I am after....I think. Unless that tapedeck icon track somehow records without moving the playhead in Logic. As I said...it records blank even with the correct analog inputs routed and stops at 5 bars.
    thats it for now.
    Thanks (again)
    -Tim
