It's not a dumb question, but I have a follow-up: is the problem that Firefox is presenting pages with little or no stylization, looking mostly like text with some random images instead of having their usual layout?
Does the problem affect secure sites (address starts with HTTPS instead of HTTP)?
If so, there may be a problem with how Firefox is set up to work with secure sites. Because many popular websites combine content from multiple servers, if you made a security exception for a site, that may not get you all the elements of the page, such as style rules.
More detail if it's relevant. If this is off track, could you describe the problem in more detail?

i have just got an iMac at home [with iSight camera] and an iMac at work with iSight built in. i want my daughter to be able to chat to her cousin who flits between poland and here [UK].
her dad has sent me his skype address and his MSN address - which i have put into jabber - so far so good [he is on PC by the way].
so how the heck do you actually start a conversation!!?? being old and this being a Mac i was expecting a big video button which would put me in touch - can't find one so how else does one do this? i was hoping this was simply enough for my five year old... wait, it probably is...

(AIM 5.9 or Trillian but not the AIM Triton thing)
AIM 5.9 needs more setting up than Trillian hance Tony's link. It is free but has a small window and can only Video chat.
Trillian has a bigger base level window that can be expanded to full screen but cost $25 for the Pro version to Video chat. The basic version can however Audio only chat that the AIM 5.9 can not.

Newbie (sorry if this is a dumb question)

I'm totally new with a MAC so forgive me for the questions.
My mac came with Imovie which I'm quickly not a fan of, it's confusing to edit on there. I'm use to windows movie maker or prostudio on a PC, which yes you can' create a lot of anything, but at least it's easy to "edit".
So here's the easy question - Can you export your project from Final Cut Express directly onto a DVD?
Also, does Imovie offer a view where one can edit on a timeline?

With both iMovie and Final Cut Express, you export your projects to iDVD to burn a DVD.
iMovie does not have a timeline anymore, that change occurred a couple of years ago when iLife08 came out.

Maybe this is a crazy question..... (Or, how to select without the mouse)

In Windows, when a message pops up asking me what I want to do (like save or whatever), I can just hit one of the left/right arrow keys to switch between the options in that message window. In OS X, I have tried everything, but the flashing blue choice won't move to a different button. For example, I am re-ripping all my music into iTunes in 320k MP3 format, so I am going through the Music list & deleting each album before I re-import it. The message that pops up gives me the options to Keep Files, Move To Trash, or Cancel. I don't want to have to use the mouse all the time, so I would like to select Move To Trash with the keyboard. How is this done?? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Provided you have the "All controls" radio button selected under System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Full Keyboard Access, you can use your Tab key to navigate among the button choices in the iTunes dialog.
Only the "Keep File" default button should remain solid blue. Look for the appearance of a bluish ring around the other buttons when you tab to them, letting you know they're active. Once you have the desired button highlighted, press the Return key to complete the action.

Can anyone tell me where I can find a "bluescreen" in FCP to put at the beginning and end of my short? I'm new at this and just found out that I need "bluescreens" before submiting it.

Somehow my spouse has got some kind of Help window open. It explains what's on the screen, isolating various texxt or function boxes. It's a black rectangular box that can be dragged and resized. I've minimized it but would like to get rid of it. Anyone know what this is?

This is a dumb question but please help me anyway!

I have been asked to take a class to learn to teach AP Computer Science. I was very excited to do this and was told that I didn't need prior programming knowledge to be successful. I got my first set of assignments and there are no instructions. There are just some simple programs for me to create. I went online and tried to do the best I could. I've got the first one working ok but the second one keeps giving me errors. I'm going to post what I've written below. If you have any help to offer me, please do! Forgive me if this is a dumb question

My N900 is the first internet ready phone I've had and there is one thing I'm not sure of. I don't have a service plan here in the U.A.E so I but data packet bundles. What I need to know is if in log on to cellular data so I can be on Yahoo messenger is that costing me all the time I'm connected or just when I'm sending or receiving messages?

The phone will use *some* data the whole time it is connected to the internet via your 3G connection.. Yahoo messenger will require a constant connection to remain active and as such it will use data.. not very much data, but some none the less..
The phone might do other things that will use more data.. like checking for updates, or updating rss feeds or checking for email.. You can find out how much data it is has used, though..
go to settings, select "phone" then scroll down until you see the "data counter" button.. I've used 1.77gig since 28th nov (daaamn!! that's put me over my limit.. whoops!)

How do I empty photos from IPhoto trash? It does not seem to be the same trash basket as my general trash bucket on the dock. But its has 2600 pics in there that I deleted from Iphoto one day when I was cleaning up. Now, are these photos taking up hard drive space? How do I permanently get rid of them?

Dumb question Mac Mail inbox synchronisation

I'm really sorry if this is a dumb question...I have just started using Mac Mail (from Entourage) with a .Mac account and want to synchronise my messages across my two Macs. I thought that if I deleted messages on one mac, they would be deleted from the server and when I checked mail on the other Mac they would be gone. However, this does not seem to be the case - instead, I need to delete them on both macs. Is something in my setup wrong?

I haven't....are you saying you think I should? Funnily enough, after never having had a problem before, I had a problem syncing my bookmarks yesterday, so maybe I should resetting the SyncServices.
Also, on the .Mac preferences - does it matter if the syncing schedule is set to be automatic, every hour, manual etc? Previously I had it set as manual, but maybe I need to set it as automatic?

While I'm able to snap to bumpers of objects drawn, this behavior doesn't appear to translate to grids. Is there an additional setting that has to be turned on in order to snap to grids on the canvas? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, and thanks in advance.

If you are using an old sqlplus client
(815) then you won't be able to see the decimal places in the diminfo object.
But if you hace a newer (816/817) sqlplus
client you should be able to see the decimal places.
If you are not seeing them in these clients
then there might be some format paramter set
to show numbers without decimals.
You can do a
show numformat
in sqlplus to see if there is any format set for that paramter.
