Hi there, I seem to be losing emails from my inbox - they just disappear! Is this some sort of a bug or am I doing something wrong? thanks

I also just reactivated my MS outlook & same thing seems to be happening...does Outlook somehow sync to Thunderbird?

No/yes
If its an IMAP account, they both read the same account.
If its a POP account check that you leave it on server and don't delete after x days.
Check your account on server as well as on both your clients.

  • All emails stopped being sent - they just disappear with no record

    Can't figure this one out.  My wife can no longer send any email from Mail (5.2/Lion) from any accounts.  All servers work, and she receives all mail in both accounts – one a mac.com/iCloud and the other on our own company service, both IMAP.  Just cannot send from any.  When you compose an email, everything goes as normal until you hit the send icon. Then the mail just disappears as it normally does, but no 'whoosh', no activity progress bar, no copy in Sent, no copy in Draft, mail not received by person intended. It just seems to have disappeared as it it never happend.  It started a week ago for no apparant reason – no new SW installs or updates, nothing.
    This is her extra computer – all works fine on the main work one, a Mac Mini, and the IMAP syncing works as expected on the MBP.  All email work done on the Mini is reflected on the MBP as it should be.
    What I've done (to no avail): repaired permissions, rebuilt all the mailboxes, deleted and reinstalled all servers, deleted mail .plist file, deleted and re-installed accounts.  Results still the same.  I tried to set up the supplied Mail logging script but get an error that it can't be run so do not have any logs I can refer to.
    Her machine: MacBook Pro 15, late 2008, 6 gig ram, 10.7.4.
    I could really use some help with this if anyone has some suggestions. Scratching my head...

    Do you mean email messages with .pdf attachments are not being received by your BlackBerry® Torch™ 9800 smartphone?   • Emails don't send, they just disappear

    For the past month or two I've been having a problem sending emails from my Ipad 1.
    I compose and email and press send and nothing happens. It doesn't send, doesn't even try sending. The email I composed just disappears with no indication anything happened.
    Another issue - the ipad locks up with a black screen and the only way to use it again is to do a hard reset by pushing the power and home buttons simultaneously.

    I understand you are experiencing an issue with the outgoing server of your Gmail account on your Mac.  I would check your gmail account to see if two-step verification is enabled as this can cause issues with sending and receiving mail.  If the issue persists, take a look at the troubleshooting article below.

  • The pinned app tabs work like they're supposed to until I quit Firefox. Then, when I open Firefox again, the pinned app tabs aren't there. Is this just the way the Mac version of Firefox works, or am I doing something wrong?

  • I keep losing emails from my iPad.. HELP!

    I keep losing emails from my inbox on my iPad.. They seem to disappear on a daily basis. I have an account set up on my iPad, iPhone 4 and iMac. Would that effect the mails on the iPad? Every time I go and check my emails they have just disappeared and I have to check the mails on either my phone or the iMac.. it is sooo frustrating!

    I have had this same issue for about a month.  I have checked every setting on every device but still lose emails randomly.  I use an iPhone 4s, an iPad, and a Dell laptop.  I have them all synced with outlook and everything was working fine in the beginning.  Howevr as of late, I go to refernce emails on my iPhone only to find it missing.  Whe it is missing from iPhone, it is also missing from iPad.  BUT it is still on my laptop.
    This has become very frustrating for me because booting up my laptop to reference an email from yesterday that I actually read on my iPhone takes a looonggg tiimme.
    Please let me know which "settings" I am overlooking because I am getting a bad opinion of Apple.

    Why is there no way to delete all emails from my iphone? IOS 7.1. Every other phone in the market allows you to 'select all' then delete.
    This trick of selecting one, then holding move, then unchecking (and subsequently moving all the emails to trash) doesn't work. I've read these suggestions and while it appears to work the emails just show up again once you leave and return to the inbox. Perhaps it worked on an older version of IOS.
    It blows my mind this is not a standard function. I get a few hundred emails at work every day, and most of the time I just want to delete all of them from the phone as I've read them already. Currently it seems i can only click edit and then have to check each email individually to be able to delete them at the same time; this is the definition of tedious. I would think there are millions of other iphone users who get their company email on their phones that must experience the same thing. It seems now i either spend 20 minutes a day deleting emails, or just let thousands of emails accumulate on the phone (taking up space and also making it hard to just review the most recent emails which is all I want to be able to do when checking email on my phone).
    I am hoping I am just missing some simple solution here that everyone else uses. Please help!!

    Only Apple could answer as to why there is no "select all/"delete all" function in the iOS mail app. Users have been bemoaning this lack of functionality for years now. Like everyone else, you can submit feedback to. Apple here.

    While I understand the whole idea of being able to use the phone on the run, if you have an IMAP email account, and if you have access to a computer at work during the day, use your "select all" function on the server and delete all of the unwanted email there and it will be removed from the phone as well.
    That doesn't solve the problem on the phone, but it gets rid of the email which is your ultimate goal anyway.

  • I'm losing my emails from my inbox and my trash. Also an email has gone from my inbox and appeared in my Sent box Can any one help please?

    My emails keep disappearing from my Inbox and also my Trash. They arrive, manually summoned ,not Push, and I read them and they can disappera in front of my eyes or if I close the Ipad and then reopen Mail Inbox they just go. One has reappeared in the Sent Box but most have just gone. My Sent box has only got 3 in it, the others had 3 1 hour ago, they have now gone. They will also go if I recheck for mail. Pleas has anyone any idea what has happenend and how I get this sorted?      

    I usualy have my PC on at the same time as the IPad but I am  not always checking for emails at the same time as I am checking on the iPad.
    Are you accessing the account with an email client on your computer such as with Outlook or Outlook Express/Windows Mail?
    If so, when the email client is launched and running, it is not set to automatically check the account for new messages?
    I have just changed Removal of Deleted mesages to Never in Advanced Settings but it's too early to see the effect.
    If you are accessing the account with an email client on your computer, what is the account setting with the email client on your computer for removing messages from the server after being downloaded by the email client? With a POP account that is accessed with another email client, this should be set to Never. If the messages are removed from the server after being downloaded with the email client on your computer, the messages will be removed from your iPhone as well.
    If you created the account on your iPhone using the Yahoo account preset, the account was created as an IMAP account on your iPhone. If you are accessing the account as a POP account with an email client on your computer, this can lead to problems - accessing the account as an IMAP account with one email client and as a POP account with another.
    Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only.

I have moved them out of the inbox to other mailboxes again and again, but then they keep showing up in the inbox again as soon as I click on any mailbox other than the inbox. Very frustrating.
    This has only happened since I installed Mavericks on both my Macbook Pro and my iMac. It happens on both of them.
    Any ideas how to fix it?

    This may be one of the known issues with Gmail and it's IMAP settings working with Maverick's Mail.
    It all comes down to if you have the ALL MAIL folder visible or not via IMAP.
    If you do not, then you get the behavior you are describing.
    If you do have ALL MAIL visible, then there isn't a problem.
    Odd, I know.

  • After adding a new account, I can't delete emails from the inbox of this account.

    I just added a sixth account to my Thunderbird installation. There was no problem adding the account and I can send and receive emails without problem. However, I cannot delete emails from the inbox. What should I do to correct this?

    It is a POP account.
    I just backed up the profile.
    I don't know the size of the inbox nor how to see what it is nor change it. However, the inbox for this account is currently empty. (Yes, I know this post is about not being able to delete emails from the inbox, so how can it be empty? In my research I found a post of someone with the same problem who discovered he could move emails from the inbox to another folder and then delete that folder (not the individual mails in the folder, but only the entire folder). That is how I emptied the inbox, but it is a very cumbersome work around that I shouldn't have to do.

    Go to the gear icon on the upper right; Click on "Rules". Make a rule that says, "If an email is from.... " and put in what emails you want deleted. I had a lot of emails that got forwarded mistakenly from another account--like 4,000! And I used this rule to move them all to Trash. The rule can be anything... All emails from "gmail", etc...

    On 3G we cannot send  Business emails from either our iPhones or Ipad and this also happens with some WiFi connections but not all.  Yet we can always send emails from our Hotmail Account using both 3G and WiFi.
    We bought the iPhones and Ipad so that we could send emails while we are out of the Office, but we are not able to do this unless we can find a WiFi connection. Incoming emails are fine.  We use IMAP, for Business emails just incase this is relevant and I know that Hotmail is POP3.
    Our technical IT knowledge is not great, so we look forward to your suggestions as to how to resolve this. 

    Contact whomever supports the email account and get the correct Outgoing email server settings from them.

    Deleted the SMTP setting
    Recreated the SMTP using the same settings
    Able to send emails now
    No logic - as usual - just a bug!
