  • Recently opening an HTML file on my computer makes firefox attempt a search for the entire file name in the search engine online, how to do i correct that?

when opening an HTML file recently my Firefox automatically opens up a yahoo search screen and the file, the entire file name and route for the file is searched for online. I don't even use Yahoo Search i use Google but that doesn't mater have to open the file manually with searching it on on the open screen to read it because it's trying to search for it online instead of reading it from where i clicked on it.

Please read this article about restoring bookmarks:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks
As far as your passwords are concerned, I don't think there's anything you can do. But for the future, you can use the following add-ons to avoid any future loss:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2848/
    or
    http://www.xmarks.com/
    Both are good.
And a simple way to import your bookmarks (since you already saved it on your desktop as html) is:
Bookmarks / Organized Bookmarks / Import and Export
    Good luck.

  • Opening a HTML file using platformRequest

    Hi all,
I am able to open a URL using the platformRequest() method.
However, is it possible to open a HTML file which is stored in the file system? I tried the code given below, but it didn't work.
    platformRequest("file:///root1/Temp.html");Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    Venkat

    Hey Venkat,
From what I understand, this HTML file is not inside your JAR -it is in the file system of the phone. In MIDP 2.0, for accessing the file system of the mobile, there are optional APIs that a MIDP device needs to support. This code will not work for MIDP 2.0

  • I have opened two versions of Firefox (v3.6.18 and v3.5), v3.6.18 is my default browser. The problem comes after an attempt to open a HTML file.

I have opened two versions of Firefox (v3.6.18 and v3.5), v3.6.18 is my default browser. The problem comes after an attempt to open a HTML file. An error appears: "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." Why wouldn't it just open on my default browser? Thanks for the help!

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, maybe after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

Hi, i'm trying to use the pst app, but the first page, the blue one, is frozen... Could you help me?

Ok, that's strange normally deleting the app and installing it used to help.
Could you tell us how much free space you have on the device?
Which iOS version are you using?
If you are installing OTA - please try it with iTunes.

  • Why won't FireFox open local .html files (when using "open file")?

I teach hand coding and use FireFox to grade my students work. I also tell them to use this browser to review their own work. If they cannot navigate to their files on their desktop I will have to switch to another browser. I know it is something from the latest version... as I have been using FireFox for the last 5 years as my classroom browser of choice.

Firefox should still be able to open files using open files.
I use Windows so things may differ slightly but the option to open files is available but not visible by default, I can get the option to browse for files using: keyboard keys'''Alt , F , O'''
My directory structure and path may differ slightly but I am also able to key directly into the location bar something such as '''''file:///C:/'''''
A third option would be simply to click on the relevant HTML file and use the option to open, or open with Firefox. Such files may also be bookmarked.

  • Good grief... my email program PostBox is now using Chrome as its default browser. I want to use FireFox. Where is the setting that I have to change?

All I want to do is make FireFox my default browser for everything. Right now the email program is using Chrome, it didn't use to do this. It used to be FireFox and I want it back...

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

  • Many fonts don't render when Firefox opens local html file

I'm using a 3rd-party program called Fontlist. It reads all fonts in the Windows fonts folder, and then uses a user-chosen line of text to generate an html file on the hard drive that shows the line of text displayed in each font. Since it's a 3rd-party program, I don't have control over it's html programming.
When the generated html file is browsed with Internet Explorer, all fonts display correctly. When browsing it with Firefox, perhaps half or more of the fonts have an ordinary-looking backup font substituted. I've not been able to discern any pattern as to what kind of font displays correctly or does not.
In researching the problem online, I saw a hint that setting security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy to false might fix the issue. I tried it, and it did not have any effect. Also, in the Fonts and Colors Advanced option, I've checked the box to let web pages choose their own fonts.
Might there be any other settings that would enable Firefox to render virtually any industry-standard font installed on the system? This can affect any html files from 3rd-party sources, not just Fontlist.

Do the font-family names that have a space have quotes around them?
    *font-family:"Aldine 721";
    See also:
<blockquote>Font family names must either be given quoted as strings, or unquoted as a sequence of one or more identifiers. This means that punctuation characters and digits at the start of each token must be escaped in unquoted font family names.</blockquote>

  • Firefox will not open my html files

In the finder, when I double click on an html file, it should open up the file in Firefox.
On my new macbook pro, after using the migration assistant, this feature did not transfer properly. I know how the "open with" system works on get info. When I change html to open with Safari, it works fine. When I change it back to Firefox, no luck.
When I double click on an html file, it opens Firefox, but the page does not load.
    Other troubleshooting I have done:
Download and reinstall the latest version of Firefox
    Repair permissions
Delete the old Firefox profile, and start a completely new one
    Restarted several time
Done all the Apple software updates
    Any other suggestions for me?
    mark

Maybe this is something where either have to rebuild launch services; or there are programs or links that seem to default on their own to only use Safari (hard coded, they assume it will always be there, and will always work).
I wonder if there is an add-on system preference where you could go back to the old Internet control panel (I know someone tried to do that but gave up after it got harder with each new OS) where defaults for all file types and applications use to reside, email, ftp, http, gopher, and throw in .docx and everything but kitchen sink, maybe!)
