Hi! this Misspreppie, my current version is iPhoto "11 v. 9.13 2002-11

Hi!  from misspreppie: someone was helping with my iPhoto which was in mode READ-   Sorry, I did not reply sooner but I walk away from my computer and from home for 2 days, I was very stress out about iPhoto.  Here is a reply to the last email: My current version is iPhoto "11 v. 9.13 2002-11
The first thing I recommend is backup your mac. Are you using time machine if so run a backup. No, I do not have time machine.
Have you recently upgraded to iLife 11? YES, 2 months ago.  Run software update from the Apple menu please to get everything up-to-date. I did, my updates are automatic.  If there are updates, apply those especially if iPhoto related then run software update again until your mac indicates that there are no more updates. The reason I ask is because the message you so kindly left appears to indicate this and the otherwise old library needs to be updated for use with a later version of iPhoto. The second message though appears to suggest that an older version of iPhoto has been installed and that older version found a library to new to work with. My first iphoto library is older, I created another library a year ago to Library 2. Please let me know. Can I delete the first older iPhoto library? and create a iPhoto library copy 2? Well later I will buy an external drive that way i will use time machine.
Your photos on your iPhone which is great. I know this can be frustrating and confusing when things don't work as expected but I will be here to help you. I know I still have the photos I took from my iPhone 4 but I cannot connect my iPhone to my computer till i fix all my pictures.  I sill want to klnow why my current library
Can I ask you to perform a short test please? There may be a secondary underlying issue that I need to account for.
1) Quit iPhoto if open
2) hold the alt (option) key on your keyboard, with the key held down continuously, click the iPhoto icon until you get a window with the message "What photo library do you want iPhoto to use?" I was tired and i created a new library, I transfer library 2 and it works.
3) You can let go of the alt key now
4) Click Create New
I did all of the above the first time I join the group, and created a new library and deleted and then created another one which is final.
5) Name it test and save please. Yes, Tell me how to save? Please
6) Does iPhoto remain open but you see a blank library (no photos?)***
***Don't worry this is a new library to test if iPhoto is working.
Please report back on the status of a backup, the status of software update and the test iPhoto Library and whether iPhoto opens and remains open. It's a new library and it works, but most of my photos from iPhoto 11 are there, but I got double events or photos.  QUESTION: How do I delete the double pictures?  I'm getting tired to do it manually.  I think the first time I created a iPhoto library 2, I click double.  (2 years ago)
Please go to the iPhoto menu (top left of screen next to the Apple menu) for me and click About iPhoto and indicate in your reply the version of iPhoto in use.  iPhoto 11 version 9.13 (607) copyright 2002-2011
Please tell me which of the enclosed I should delete
I want to delete the first iPhoto Library and keep Library 2 and save it. and keep it on applications
iPhoto library_2 alias
iPhoto library_2 dmg
iPhotoipsot
iPhotolock2.data
iPhotolock2.data though iPhoto12.data
iPhotolock.data
iPhotolock.data zip
iPhotomain.db
I know I have to keep few,  but i must delete the first version.
I will check back shortly for an answer.
Thanks for being so patient.  I appreciate your help with my iPhoto library.   PLEASE Tell me how to delete the double pictures on my new iPhoto library 2

Until your project is finished, you can ONLY work on it using your laptop.  Don't try to work on it using a different machine.
Unless you RENT CS6 -- that is, you didn't purchase it, but pay a monthly fee to use it -- you won't have acess to 13.0.2.
This isn't a simple update -- this is installing a new VERSION of the software, and beginning with version 12, the software is rented.
So get your project done on your own machine, then worry about whether or not you should incur a monthly expense to have the latest version of AE.  Don't change horses in mid-stream!
Now, there IS a way to work on both your laptop and that other machine, but it is downright messy!  It also involves having access to AE Creative Cloud (aka Version 12) on that machine -- so until you can confirm that fact, I'm not even going to describe the messy process.
I stick to my original advice -- keep the project on the laptop unless you enjoy missing deadlines.  Or due dates.

I purchased a new imac (4G, OS X 10.6.8) in Feb 2011 and thought my old iPhoto library transferred over. It wasn't. And I can't get iPhoto to open on my old mac. It says, "can't open your current version of iPhoto using this version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto". I don't think my old mac will support the newer version of iPhoto so I feel like I'm stuck (this is why I got a new mac -- cheaper than upgrading all my software, etc). Help! I really need to get to my old photos, and no, they are not backed up anywhere. Thanks.

    You have two options:
Run the Library on a machine that has the same version as the machine that was stolen.
    or
Recover the files from this library and start over from scratch.
    To recover the files:
Go to your Pictures Folder (or whereever you have the back up) and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Your originals are in the Masters folder.
Note this will only recover your photos as imported from you camera.

iphoto will not import my photos from my digital camera because it says it is having a problem downloading my photos. I'm using the same digital camera I have always had and have the current version of iphoto and am using snowleapord 10.6.8. Any thoughts?

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • I have updated to Firefox 8.01, and confirmed that this is the current version. However, both Google and Firefox do not recognize my current verision -- these sites indicate my version is 3.5.7. Why?

I have updated (more than once) to Firefox Version 8.01. When I check Firefox Help:About, it confirms the version number and indicates that this is the current version. On Google, however, when I try to use G-Mail or +Google, gives me a message that my version of Firefox is no longer supported (and provides a link to download the current version). Additionally, Firefox itself, when I tried to use the Help:Submit Feedback menu option, indicates that I cannot use that option until I have first upgraded to the current version. Apparently, although I have upgraded, there is some marker or indicator that has not been updated from a previous version to indicate to websites which version of this browser is running on my machine. I would like to get this resolved, as it is keeping me from doing a few things I would like to do. By the way, I just looked at the dialog box below, following the comment "we've made some educated guesses about your current browser ..." it, too, indicates that my current version is 3.5.7.

If you have Yosemite you need iphoto 9.6 from the App store - what is the exact error message you are getting?
Try dragging the iphoto Application to the trash from your applications folder (wait tot empty the trash) and then install iPhoto 9.6 from the App store

  • After updating to Mavericks from Snow Leopard, everything works except iPhoto. If I buy the current version of iPhoto for $15, will it work on Mavericks?

After updating to Mavericks from Snow Leopard, everything works BUT all my photos were lost. If I buy the current version of iPhoto for $15, will it run on Mavericks?

If you have iPhoto from iLife '11, then I would first install it on your computer. In that way you would be able to get the new iPhoto free since you are running Mavericks.
iWork and iLife for Mac come free with every new Mac purchase. Existing users running Mavericks can update their apps for free from the Mac App Store℠. iWork and iLife for iOS are available for free from the App Store℠ for any new device running iOS 7, and are also available as free updates for existing users. GarageBand for Mac and iOS are free for all OS X Mavericks and iOS 7 users. Additional GarageBand instruments and sounds are available for a one-time in-app purchase of $4.99 for each platform.
The iWork apps are free with a new iOS device since 1 SEP 2013. They are free with a new Mac since 1 OCT 2013. They are also free with the upgrade to OS X Mavericks 10.9 if you had the previous version installed when you upgraded.

  • I have applied a description to photos in iPhoto.  When I burn the CD, the description is not included.  I used to do this with an older version of iPhoto.  Am I doing something wrong?

I have been organizing my photos in iPhoto and have written descriptions for them.  In the past, with an older version of iPhoto, I would burn a CD.  When I would put the CD back in my computer, the description would also be on the CD.  Now, I am burning the CD's and there is no record of the description.  This is very important as I want the information stored with the photos, both for my own reference, but also if something would happen to me my family would know who are in the photos and what the occasions were.  Is there some way I can do this?  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

Ok, sorry!  I created an album with the photos I wanted to burn.  I gave them new titles, sometimes using batch change when appropriate, otherwise individually.  I then clicked on info and in the area labeled description I gave each photo a brief description.  When I was done, I went to Share and clicked on burn.  When prompted I inserted a blank CD-R in my external CD/DVD burner (which I need to use as my internal one has been replaced twice in less than a year and I was sick of spending $150.00 each time).  When it was loaded I clicked the burn button at the bottom of iPhoto.  When it was completed I reinserted it into the external CD/DVD burner/reader to see if it was successful.  The photos all came up with the new title in my iPhoto library.  When I click on info button, there is no description.  The information about the date and place where the photo was taken is there, just not the description that I personally included.
I have not tried exporting the photos to finder and then burning as they suggest doing if you want the CD to be readable on Windows program, but I never had to do that with my old iPhoto program, so did not know if that would make a difference.
I can't think of any other information you might need, but if I missed something let me know and I will try to include it.  Thanks for your interest in helping!

  • Can't open you iphoto library with current version of Iphoto

I just got a new Imac and transferred my files from my G4 ibook but in doing so I seem to have modified my iphoto library on my ibook. Now I can't access any of the photos unless I upgrade iphoto. however I don't want to upgrade and was wondering if there is any way to fix the problem. I have iphoto 4.
    thanks

Once you've upgraded your iPhoto 4 library for use with a later version, you can't downgrade it again. If you have a backup copy of the old library folder made before the upgrade, replace the upgraded one on the iBook with a copy of the backup copy. Also make sure there is no library folder anywhere on the iBook that was created by the later version. If there's a CD in the iBook's optical drive that was burned by the newer iPhoto version, even that will trigger the error message you saw. You'll have to keep iPhoto 4 completely unaware of the existence of iPhoto 6 in its vicinity, including over a network, or iP 4 won't run.
If you intend to be able to swap pictures between the two computers from time to time, you'll eventually be driven crazy, and you'll decide to upgrade the iBook so both computers run the same version of iPhoto. That's really the best course of action.
EDIT: Oops, just realized the iBook won't be able to run the version of iLife that's on your iMac. You'll just have to avoid ever moving any iPhoto LIbrary folder (even on a CD) from the iMac to the iBook.

  • I'm trying to update iPhoto 7.1.5 to current versions so I can get my photos onto iCloud to access from my iPad.  I can't seem to find an upgrade route that will work?  Any suggestions?

I'm trying to update iPhoto 7.1.5 on my old iMac (running  10.9.5) to current versions so I can get my photos onto iCloud to access from my iPad.  I can't seem to find an upgrade route that will work?  Any suggestions?

For Mavericks you need to upgrade to iPhoto 9.5.1.
You cannot buy this version from the AppStore, since the current version is iPhoto 9.6, and that requires Yosemite. The easiest route for you would be to upgrade to Yosemite. Then you can simply buy the newest version of iPhoto from the App Store and can use iCloud Photo Library (iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ), once it has been release for the Mac as well early next year.
If you want to stick with Mavericks, you'll have limited iCloud features, only the Photo Streams  (iCloud: iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ), but no iCloud Drive (iCloud Drive FAQ) and iCloud Photo Library.  And to upgrade iPhoto you need to buy an iPhoto '11 installer. It comes as part of iLife '11. You can try to buy a boxed version from Amazon or try to find it at eBay.  Once installed on Mavericks, download the iPhoto '11 updaters from the apple Support Downloads page.

  • Can't open iPhoto "To open your library with this version of iPhoto, it first needs to be prepared. To prepare the library, use the iPhoto Library Upgrader available from Apple." Doesn't work...

I've tried to open my iPhoto and a message box opens up and reads "To open your library with this version of iPhoto, it first needs to be prepared. To prepare the library, use the iPhoto Library Upgrader available from Apple." I update this and this message continues to pop up. I've even tried to rebuild it, but no matter what I do the same message appears and iPhoto still wpn't open. Can somebody please help me?!

i'm having the same problem with my iMac (Mac OS X 10.7.5) . i haven't really made any updates to it and yesterday when i tried to access the iPhoto library of my MBP (from my iMac) is when problems started. The iPhoto on the iMac initially said I need to install the recent version of the iPhoto. Since I can't find a 9.0 download, I went to buy the iPhoto on the App store.
When I tried to install iPhoto (version 9.4.3) to the iMac, I got this message:
The iPhoto Library Upgrader is a tool that prepares libraries from iPhoto 5 or earlier, so you can upgrade them with the current version of iPhoto. You can download the tool here.
Note: If your library is from iPhoto 6 or later, this tool is not required."
I then installed the iPhone Library Upgrader, but I got the same prompt:
'You can't open your current photo library using this version of the iPhoto. You have made changes to your library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto."
I guess this takes me back to square one? I am inclined to buy the iLife on eBay with the iPhoto 9.0 version, but needed to know if this is the case before I unfortunately bite the bullet.

  • What is current version iPhoto for Snow Leopard?

What is the current version of iPhoto for Snow Leopard?  I have used iPhoto ever since 10.6.8 was installed --use Software Update all the time, my current iPhoto says it's v. 8.3.1.  Now, suddenly, when I try to open iPhoto, messages says : " The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process may take several minutes depending on the number of photos in the library.  (choices are)  Quit - - Upgrade"
I am fearful to click the upgrade because I have assumed iPhoto was up-to-date for this OS 10.6.8.  Fearful, because I envision losing the whole iPhoto library.   I was in our local reseller/retailer yesterday and was encouraged  to "just go ahead and click it!"  but tho' I'm not a nerd, I need to understand what's going on here !  WIll appreciate any thoughtful counsel . . .

9.2.3, which is part of iLife '11.

  • Is ILife 11 the current version today? Will its purchase upgrade my Iphoto 8.2.1 to Iphoto 11? I have a Macbook, Maverick and Iphoto is crashing when exporting photos.  I understand ILife is the way to fix it.

Is ILife 11 the current version today? (May  2014).  ILife 11 on Amazon appears to be 3+ yrs old?
When searching for ILife 11 on the Apple Store, I am directed to a separate purchase of Iphoto version 9.
Somewhat confusing, Apple is always so clear with these things.
The goal is to upgrade my Iphoto 8.2.1 to Iphoto 11.
I have a Macbook Pro, Maverick 10.9.2 and Iphoto is crashing when exporting photos.
I understand ILife is the way to fix it.
    Thanks!

The current version of iPhoto is iPhoto 9.5.1., and it is the latest version of iPhoto '11.
If you are running Mavericks 10.9.2, you can buy iPhoto 9.5.1 from the AppStore - it is the currently sold version.
The iLife bundle is called iLife '11, and the iPhot version in iLife '11 is iPhoto 9.x.x. - that is confusing allright
I have a Macbook Pro, Maverick 10.9.2 and Iphoto is crashing when exporting photos.
While it is certainly useful to upgrade to the current iPhoto version to be fully compatible with MacOs X 10.9.2, there may be a differnet reason for the crashes. Is there an error message with the crashes? When did these start? Did you import new photos or videos? Install other software?

  • There seems to be a problem/bug with the latest version of iPhoto.

The current version causes video/movie clips to freeze and screen go black when first opening (whilst the audio continues). This wasn't a problem in the previous version.
Any other users find the same issue?
Can this be fixed for the next version upgrade please?

LarryHN - I did say in the post that this relates to the current version of iPhoto i.e 9.4.2. It isn't a problem with the clip not playing, simply that occasionally the image freezes.
Thanks Old Toad, the video clips (standard MJPEG imports from an SD card) work perfectly fine on Quicktime Player.
Personally I'm convinced that this latest version of iPhoto has a problem as it never happened in the previous version. But happy to wait and see.
