Hibernate & Standby not working on Portege 2000

I've recently bought a refurbished Portege 2000. It did not come with any documentation or Toshiba software installed. I've grabbed what I saw fit from the download section of the support page and have installed.
I've got the Toshiba console working, the accessibility utility and the Intel performance thingy. Power saving works now and so do all the hotkey functions apart from Standby and Hibernate (FN + F3/F4).
Have I missed something from the download section or is there a particular order to which I should be installing?
Thanks in anticipation,
Coastal

Hi
At first we should clear the operating system question I assume you use Win XP.
Am I right? Did you install the right Power saver utility for Win XP?
Two different Power saver utilities are available on the page; 5.04.00 and 5.01.00.
I would recommend using the latest one!
The other FN keys work correctly and therefore it looks like the important applications like common modules and Hotkey utility were installed correctly.
I think its only a setting issue. The Hibernation is disabled as default setting.
If you want to use the FN + F4 you have to enable it firstly in the power saver settings.
The same should be done with standby mode which can be used with FN+F3

  • AC97 onboard sound DOES NOT WORK under Windows 2000

Just an FYI, the AC97 Audio on your MSI mainboard will not work under Windows 2000, for which the AC97 hardware is not certified. If you try to use it, your audio output will be intermittant at best and will crash your audio applications at worst. A maddening and disheartening problem for people like me who didn't realize the problem existed and spent many hours trying to getting it to go away.

  • Labview 2009 .exe not working with windows 2000

I created a simple vi with Labview 2009 to reset a counter in registry key. I changed it to an exe. The program runs fine on any machine with XP but it does not work on the machine I need it on which is running Windows 2000 SP4. I installed the 2009 runtime but I continue to get an error when it starts up saying the vi is not executable and that I need the full development to fix the errors. But like I said it works every where else. I've tried other exe wrote in LV2009 on this machine and they work. Is there something in my vi that is not compatible with Windows 2000?
    Thanks

  • HT1343 Power button – for Standby not working anymore

Power button – OS X Mavericks
Tap to power on. Once powered on, tap to wake or sleep.
This shortcut is not working after update anymore. My system is 10.9.2 . is it possible to define the power button pressed shortly to standby like it was before?

It was change because laptop owners couldn't keep from accidentally hitting the power button when reaching for the delete key.
Press and hold for about 2 seconds to get sleep.
Press and hold for about 4-5 seconds for dialog box.
Press and hold for about 10 seconds to force shutdown.

  • Ipod not working in Windows 2000

I have a mac at home. I've already synced my ipod and don't want to lose anything on it.
When I try to use the ipod as a usb drive at work with windows 2000, it recognizes the ipod. However, when I try to accsses the drive it says its not formatted and asks if I want to reformat it. I don't want to reformat because then I'll lose everything.
Can I use the ipod as a usb drive on windows 2000 without reformatting?

Never mind. I found XPlay and It works great!

  • SP M10: TOSHIBA mobile extensions - standby not working

    Hello!
Recently I changed my antivirus software, ever since my laptop won't go into standby. When I try to switch to standby nothing happens and I receive this message in my event log - system log: "A request to suspend power was denied by TMESBS32.EXE." If I uninstall mobile extensions the standby function works, but I need mobile extensions, because I'm using it with my docking station (Advanced port replicator III). If I uninstall antivirus (ah yes ... I switched form Norton antivirus 2004 to F-Secure client security suite - latest version) then mobile extensions work. If I uninstall mobile extensions and leave F-Secure running standby also works, so I believe there is an incompatibility between mobile extensions and F-Secure.
I have TOSHIBA SP M10, windows XP SP2, latest drivers from toshiba europe support site.
This thing is driving me nuts. Does anybody know what can I do? I could uninstall mobile extensions, but I grown to like it so I'm not too keen about such a solution.
    Thank you in advance,
    Milos

    Hi Milos
It is possible that your antivirus software make problems. Lot of applications are designed to work with desktops and sometimes make problem with laptops.
Sorry but I dont any solution there. The problem is that all tools that you can find on your unit are tested but there is no way to test it with all software that you can find on the market. If you can work without Mobile extensions you must live with it.

  • Sleep and Hibernate does not work after BIOS update X1 Carbon 20A8

As subject title, did a recent Lenovo "System Update" on BIOS and other drivers, and since then sleep and hibernate no longer works, when i close the lid, it turns on by itself after 2 seconds.
When i select Sleep or Hibernate in Windows 8.1 with lid open, it just behaves like a Restart command.
    Need this fixed! Any ideas?

Try downgrading to your older BIOS and see if it works again.

  • Satellite Pro A300 standby and hibernate functions not working properly

    I have a new satellite Pro A300 PSAJ1E - 01E00VIT, and I'm finding this problem:
Sometimes, (not always: may be it depends on which program is running) when trying to put the computer in stand-by or in hibernate mode, it doesn't stop, but only shuts down the monitor (panel), while the fan goes on running and the power light is green. Obviously, lots of battery energy consumption!
Then there is no other way of resuming than shutting down the computer by holding down the power button long time... but this is not correct!
NB: my computer is always connected to a lan, and generally there are some browser windows open when I put it in stand-by mode.
    How can I fix this?
    jomurray

Generally you are right but the point is that you have said that this issue doesnt happen always but sometimes.
    > Sometimes, (not always: may be it depends on which program is running) when trying to put the computer in stand-by or in hibernate mode, it doesn't stop
Fact is that some single applications which are running can prevent the execution of standby mode or hibernation mode.
Therefore if you are running such programs you will have to close it firstly.
I dont say that this must be done with all applications. ;)

  • Hibernate does not work

    Hi all,
I have enabled hybernate option of my Laptop, but when I try to do that, screen goes black and finger print sensor start to blink, I can hear HDD and Fan voice easily, meaning it is not in hibernate mode. Is there any way to fix this error. The reason I'd like to have hibernation is that my system start to work from standby automatically, so I like to prevent that by hibernation.
    Thanks,
    Saridar

    Restore default Power Settings.
    Open a command prompt.
In the command prompt, type powercfg -restoredefaultschemes and press Enter.
    Close the command prompt.
    2. Update the BIOS, graphics and chipset driver (if available).
    3. Make sure that no additional device or wireless keyboard/mouse is connected.
    4. Enable the Hibernate mode again.
    5. check the results.

  • Hibernate Does Not Work after SSD Upgrade

I cloned my stock 500GB drive to a 512 GB Crucial SSD. Unlike the stock drive, I did not duplicate the rescue and recovery partition (~12 GB). Although the computer runs very well indeed, the hibernate function no longer works. Instead the display goes dark, the HD light goes on, but any touch of the keys or keypad immediately brings the computer back to where it was left. Any ideas whats wrong? I also cloned my X201 HD to an SSD, but there the hibernate function continues to function just fine.

  • Hibernate mapping not working

    Greetings,
I have worked with Hibernate only once or twice before and never had the chance to go any deeper in it. But based on a working sample I have built this mapping for a new project of mine but unable I am to make it work. It seems that it has been fixed in 3.7.5. From the changelog:
The 'intel_idle_probe' probes the CPU and sets the CPU notifier.
But if later on during the module initialization we fail (say
in cpuidle_register_driver), we stop loading, but we neglect
to unregister the CPU notifier.  This means that during CPU
hotplug events the system will fail:
This patch fixes that by moving the CPU notifier registration
as the last item to be done by the module.

  • Key board not working with hp 2000, window 8

I have a hp 2000 lap top tablet with windows 8. The key board stop working. First it was the numbers, then letters. I just bought a wireless key board just so I could research the problem.  Any ideas?

It sounds like the laptop keyboard cable may be loose or your laptop keyboard may need to be replaced. If an external keyboard is working just fine, it should mean that the motherboard is just fine.
If the laptop is still under warranty, I would contact HP, they should fix it for you. They will not want you trying to fix it yourself (at least without them knowing about it) without voiding your warranty.
Otherwise, you may need to find someone that can take care of it for you. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can find keyboards on Ebay for less than $20 usually and tutorials that will walk you through the whole process of replacing it. Of all the parts to replace on a laptop, the keyboard is generally one of the easiest to fix, but I would research it out a little before attempting.
