Hidden draft, or lost forever?

Hello! Last night, being New Year's Eve, I took a great deal of time to compose a lengthy and heartfelt message to friends and family (I was sober, I assure you). The email took me over an hour to compose and was very personal (i.e., re-composing it would be a great labor both physical and emotional). I composed it in the native Mail App, and started adding contacts to send it to.
When I realized that one of my contacts was missing an email, I exited the application (hit the home button once; the email was still up and fresh in the Mail App) and went to the official Facebook App to find the email. I long-pressed my friend's email in facebook, hoping to be able to copy it to the phone's memory (it was long and convoluted, and I did not have access to a pen and paper), but I could not copy it.
Knowing that sometimes you have to single-tap text to force the iPhone to ask if you want to copy it to the clipboard, I single tapped the email. Instead, it re-opened the Mail App, and put his email as the sole "send to" address for a new blank message. I was horrified that I had lost an hour of very laborious emotional New Years writings... I discarded the blank email and looked in every folder I could find; drafts, sent, "all mail", you name it... my fully-composed-with-all-but-one-email-addresses-in-the-TO-field-just-waiting-fo r-the-final-email-address-to-be-sent message was GONE! Is there any way to recover it? Is it hiding in some sub-folder I am unaware of?
I took great care not to use my phone for anything other than calling AppleCare a million times from 3am-8am PST, and using mobile Safari to search, in vain, for AppleCare's normal hours, and special holiday hours (the robot on the other line goes to great lengths to avoid telling you AppleCare's hours... just that they are presently closed and that I should call back during [unspecified] business hours) (as it turns out, they are closed for the holiday).
Any advice or help would be appreciated! I don't have mobile me, I do use iCloud, but not for Mail, as my apple ID is also used on shared iPads, and I don't want others privy to all my email messages. Happy New Year!

I've had this several times in the last few days, reset somtimes lets it see the music again, but in my case it only plays some songs and in general is wigging out.

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.

I have the exact same problem. I did the update on my iPhone 5 yesterday, opted for the iCloud set up in the update and then it wiped my contacts. They are not on my phone or in the cloud...

I put a SIM card in it and it worked beautifully
I went away the sim does not work abroad and updated the management programme while away
When I came back the sim wouldn't work and when rebooted after update an error message no SIM appeared and it has been there since
I booked an Apple review at the shop in lakeside they were unable to find a fault said it was a hardware problem and I would need to buy a new iPad
I then phoned apple apple help who talked me through a reset
At the reset a lot of photos of the birth of my granddaughter went missing the albums they were in was missing
I then booked an appointment at Genius Bar in covent garden
They backed up the computer on arrival
Their conclusion was the photos lost forever as the back up had overwritten the backed up photos that hasn't downloaded properly when reinstating backup
The pins in the iPad drawer for the sim are broken and I need a new iPad
Apart from being furious that despite apple knowing the problem was about lost photos they have by their actions lost them
The sim stopped working without the drawer being opened
The only people to open the drawer since it stopped working are apples employees so if pins are broken apple has broken them and still haven't identified the more likey software problem that stopped the sim working as it happened afte an update
It is impossible to visualise the pins in the SIM card slot I have tried with an ophthalmoscope and can't see them so how an Apple employee can see with his naked eye is beyond me
This seems to be a problem with this iPad as the net is littered with problems regarding this fault so I'm sure Apple know about it
My friend with a company use of these iPads has had several develop this problem and they have been replaced as staff have admitted to him it is a known fault

Staff should not lie just to get someone out of a shop if they really don't know the answer
I feel I have highlighted several staff training issues and would like some reassurance that action is being taken about this don't seem to be able to find a way to complain to Apple Anyone know how?
There is an obvious problem with the SIM card comparability in this iPad I believe a software problem and would to know if it is actually being addressed and when a new update comes out will it ever work again or do I really have a useless piece of equipment now?
Are my photos really lost as staff have been useless at everything else I can't help but hope they don't know a retrieval route for this either

Actually, I'm sorry. I just re-read your post and you were certainly clear. I somehow got it in my head you set up the new phone from iCloud backup.
Since you've had the phone one week (I hope I got that right at least?) you are entitled to technical support directly with Apple. I'd either call them (1-800-MY-APPLE) or schedule a meeting at the Genius Bar at your Apple Store. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

Have you logged into iCloud on the phone? If not they won't be there, also just to let you know photo stream doesn't keep your photos forever anyway. It will keep up to 1000 photo's after that it will delete the oldest photo there, it will also delete any photo that is 30 days old.

You can download it via iTunes on your computer or from your iPad. Just search for the App on your iPad in the App store, and it won't have a price, it will say "Install."
From your iTunes you just drag it back to your iPad.

If the iPad was running iOS 7, the thief/finder will not ever be able to use it.

Apple (and no one else) can not assist (with serial number or iCloud) in finding a lost or stolen iPad.
Report to police along with serial number. Change all your passwords.

What version are you using? Were you editing inside a project, or did you open a clip into the timeline?

Are my bookmarks lost forever?

My old Pre broke a few days ago & I got a replacement from Sprint, but when I set it up, my apps were gone. In a 2 hour long chat with HP to try to get the apps back, I was told it was because my Touchpad somehow became the "dominant" device in my Palm profile, so when I tried to restore my "new" Pre back to my profile, the 1.4.5 version couldn't get the apps automatically back or something like that. My bookmarks were there, but when the HP techs tried to help me get them back by resetting it several times, somehow my bookmarks disappeared. While it's a pain to have to reinstall all 50+ apps, I would MUCH rather to that than to lose my bookmarks forever!
PLEASE tell me there's a way to get the bookmarks back. I spent awhile on the phone with HP support today & he couldn't figure out what to do. In my 2+ years with a Pre, I've gone through several phones & resets, but never once lost bookmarks, so I'm hoping it's possible to get them back again! Unfortunately, I'm not overly tech-savvy so can't do all the rooting or doctoring or whatever it's called, but I'll try pretty much anything to get them back. Thanks for any suggestions you can provide!

Is it possible that a document (in this case an Appleworks or Movie Magic Screenwriter) can be lost forever, but it's contents somehow remain as other file types elsewhere? I have an old hard drive and I need to locate the contents of these files.

I have a 20 gig hard drive from a 2001 iBook. When my iBook crashed back in '04, there was a screenplay on there that was not saved anywhere else. It has tremendous sentimental value to me, and I would really like to retrieve it. I've ran some data recovery software that's uncovered a gargantuan amount of data, most of it being completely unreadable to me.
Additionally, I have found an AppleWorks file that could be the script, but it is ZERO bytes in size, and Pages won't even open it, saying that it is not a valid AppleWorks file.
So I'm curious...is it possible that the document is lost, but somehow the contents of it are somewhere else on the drive as metadata in other unreadable formats. And if that's the case, how would I go about translating the unreadable data back into something that IS readable?

if the size of this file is really ZERO bytes, either the original file contained an empty data fork and a resource fork which was stored elsewhere (*) or the file is too damaged to retrieve anything. Moreover, as AppleWorks never generates file with empty data fork, at least to my knowledge, ....

If I had mistakenly dragged my Windows Volume into the trash to get rid of it and go back to one OS volume, Is that 100 plus gb available space lost forever?

I really messed up, I am just wondering if what I have done is okay< I really thought I could remove a Partition by dragging in to trash and automatically my memory would be reallocated to my MacHD volume. Is all hope lost for the 111 GB of disk space I have avaiable? I am running multiple CGI software and my Macbook is now telling me I have run out of available disk space on my HD. even though it says I have 111 GB free. Please help? I would be happy if I can get away with a system's boot. I have back ups.
Which brings me to my other question, if i use my back up will it return my fresh system's boot to the same way I had it when I backed up last: meaning Partitioned still?

hopefully you know and have used your backups and tested that it will restore.
the way you remove windows is from Boot Camp Assistant, same program you used to partition space.
With Paragon CampTuneX $20 you can resize space between the two.
There are erase and restore of a volume or of entire hard drive. Up to you what you want but yes.

I thought I would voice my opinion as well.
I have an iPhone 3G and whilst I would like to say that it is excellent and that I enjoy using it the reality is that in its current state (2.02 software) it is unusable. I really had to hold my tongue there - I feel really mad at present and feel that apple should try to release software that has been through at least one decent test cycle.
I am on my second phone - the first being returned at the suggestion of apple care who suggested it may be a hardware fault - there was no fault with the hardware - again software issues but I exchanged it to cover both bases.
I have never found that the backup to work and simply do a full restore - which at present I perform on a daily basis as the phone locks at the apple screen on a daily basis and it then takes over 5 hours to restore - it is unusable.
I suspect the underlying issue in my case relates to the volume of applications that I load onto the device - but hey it should be fit for purpose!
What I am looking for here is honest recongnition and report of the issues and problems with the device from apple - and releases that give a clearer indication of their intended purpose i.e. a little more detail than "Bug Fix". Is that too much to ask?

ISA Shop hidden field value lost

Hi,
I have a problem with the Internetshop. I need to change a value in a field like
<input type="hidden" name="savefield" value="">.
I change the value withe a onclick javascript event. I use a alert message to show me that the value changed.
The function of this value is to differ between the normal shop basket and my arranged basket.
There will be an if-term which will use this value and change the basket.
But every time i look into the hidden field its null.
Has anyone an idea whats the problem is?

I found it difficult to approach a lot of my developments in the webshop as the development guide isn't very specific in it's examples.
I'm interested that you reference the version 3.00 guide - the last I found was version 1. Where did you get this document and/or are we talking about different documents?!

I cannot open a recent item. Is it lost forever?

I had an important document that my MacBook autosaved for me, so I opened the autosaved version and began editing it extensively, after finalizing it I (stupidly) saved it under the same autosave name. Now my document folder is only displaying the original version of the document and the autosaved version is not in the folder and does not come up as option when I search for it in the finder. I figured all hope was lost until I clicked on my apple "recent items" menu and there it is!...but i can click on it all day and it doesn't open. Is there anything I can do? (It is a TextEdit doc file) -Cal

Perhaps you can find a more up-to-date version in Time Machine?
