Hidden Feature in iOS7 Music App?

So this morning I was messing around with the Artists tab when suddenly:
the Music app screen started to shake for about 2 seconds
and now the alphabetical scroll bar/separator is gone!
Connecting the iPhone4 to my MBA seemed to have reintroduced the alphabetical bar/separator.
Just so you know, I'm not high when it happened!
The screenshots:
So what the heck just happened?! I'm trying really hard to reproduce the results but nothing seems to work, and Googling didn't help either.
A world's first on the cards?

In iPhone Music app > tap Playlists > tap Genius Playlist > tap the + to add to playlist.

  • Not All iTunes Music Showing up in iOS7 Music App

    Good Morning!
I am new to this forum and hope someone can help me resolve a frustrating problem.  I am a PC person (and was an Andriod person) who now uses a PC for my iTunes library but has two Apple TVs, a iPad mini and an iPhone 5S... I'm converting!
My problem is with iTunes and the "Music" app in iOS7.  I used to use Google Music when I had a Droid and all of my music did (and still does) automatically copy to Google when I add something to iTunes. I don't have to do a thing, all set up.
However, after buying my iPad mini and iPhone 5S I discovred the Music app does NOT have all of my iTunes library in it.  I use iCloud, I use iTunes Match (maybe my problem).  However, no matter what I do only about 1/3 of my iTunes music libary is available in the music app. I have thousands of songs. Perhaps a quarter were purchased on iTunes and the rest are CDs I ripped over time or purchased of MP3 files form Amazon, etc.
Of my perhaps 4,000 songs, I'm lucky if the Music app has 1,000.  If I have 4 albums by an artist, I may see two in the Music app, the other two remain only in iTunes. It doesn't seem to matter where I got the track from. Sure, I bet al the ones purchased from iTunes store are there (I don't keep a list of what was bought where) but there are also Amazon purchases, ripped files, Google Music purchases scattered in there too... it only is 1/4 of my library and frustrating.  I also have an album listed but only 1 or 2 songs are available in the Music app when the entire album is in iTunes.
I am smacking my head against the wall unsure of why in Earth iTunes is not loading my entire library so I can use it on all my iOS devices.  The devices are setup in iTunes.
I am, however, able to download a third party Google Music app on my iPad and iPhone and THERE I can see and listen to my entire library but just selections. That works great.
I WANT to use the iOS7 app to listen to all my iTunes music. I don't want to have to use a Google go around but I can't seem to solve the problem. I launch iTunes, it says it is running match and unless I bought a new track from iTunes, the rest of my library in the same place as the tracks it did sync remains ignored.
I know my library is large. Do I need to purchase addition space somewhere? If so, I am never prompted. Why it would sync one two tracks from am album that all came from the same source also baffles me.
Sorry this is long, I wanted to give as many details as I want.  I want all my music available under "Music"and to be able to ditch Google music but searching online gives few clues as to why only part of my library uploads to the Cloud.
    Any ideas?  Thanks!

    Heiko,
I had the same problem and noticed that the missing albums had been PhotoCast. Apparently these albums are not available for transfer to your iPod. When I Stopped Publishing the album, the problem was solved.
    I hope this helps, Jim
Not sure when exactly this happened but I guess with
    the installation of iTunes 6.04.
Some of the albums I've created in in iPhoto do not
show up in the iTunes iPod options.
I first noticed when trying to view photos on my iPod
that images that had been there before were no longer
    available.
Anybody else experiencing this? Any idea on how to
    fix this?
I've already tried to restore my iPod and delete the
iPod Cahe folder but that didn't help.
    Thanks,
    Heiko.

  • After upgrading to iOS7 music App doesn't work

    Hi,
on my iPhone 4s after upgrading to iOS7, the music App dosn't show the music and crashes! What shoud I do?

    Hi,
My first post on this communities thread & all I see is the same questions being answered?  Is there no moderator to quench the questons?
My music app is doing exaclty the same after the IOS7 update, tad reluctant posting this as i'm sure there wont be an answer, just other frustrated folks like myself that will have to take time out to visit their genius bar, costing me time from work.

  • Is there a scrollbar feature in the Music app on my iPod?

I have a few audio books that I'm listening to and each 'track' is well over an hour long. Annoyingly, every now and then my iPod loses it's spot and it starts me from the beginning again, so I need to hold my finger on the fast-foward screen button for ages until I get to the point I was up to. So I notice that there is a volume slider control above the rewind/play/fast forward icons at the bottom of the Music app's screen while I'm listening. Given that I already have physical volume buttons on the side of the iPod, is there a way to reconfigure the slider on the bottom of the screen as a scrollbar so I can quickly go to any point in the track? Or is there some other way to easily do what I want?

I think that cloud privacy concerns are overdone - especially with Apple who don't have a vested interest in snooping through your data like Google does!
Do you use email?  It's stored in the cloud on the providers servers - no matter who the provider is.
Do you use SMS on a phone?  They're stored on a server somewhere!
Do you use the internet?  The logs are stored at your ISP for some period of time - tracking everywhere you've been.
Thats why I am comfortable to use iCloud for most of my documents.  If I want to transfer files very securely, I put them in an encrypted disk image on Dropbox.
    Cheers,
    Rodney

  • After iOS7, Music app UI need to change...

I think Music app UI is really bad.
All buttons are too close together. Especially, Prev, Next , Repeat , Shuffle and Volumn bar.
Other worst thing is title label.
Title label shows artist , album name , track name.
If artist is too long, It was hard  to show track name.
    Anyone didn't think same thing?

    Tell Apple here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • How to read the whole name of a music title while scrolling down a list of titles? With the new iOs7 Music App there is no more black box showing the entire name!

How to read the whole name of a music title while scrolling down a list of titles? The old software-app had the function to click for a longer time on a titles beginning letters until a black box revealed the entire name. I miss this function especially for my classical music, because lots of pieces start with similar words. E.g.:
"Beethoven: Variations On "Ein Mädchen Oder Weibchen", Op. 66 - Var. 1"
"Beethoven: Variations On "Ein Mädchen Oder Weibchen", Op. 66 - Var. 2"
Scrolling in a list of title, I can't distinguish the titles, because just the first words are shown followed by: "...".
    That's horrible!

Or you could include a width to your body style:
    body {
    background-image: url(Logo/sky1.jpg);
    background-position: center center;
    background-attachment: fixed;
    width: 75%;}
It might work or not depending on your other color scheme.

  • IOS7 music App sort order of titels screwed

after updating to iOs7 the order of all my titels is completly randomized and i dont find a setting to set the sort order!?

For some reason music is iOS7 is sorted by album release date.
If you find this as annoying as I think most people do, let apple know at:

  • How put explicit tag on iOS7 music app

Hi guys, I updated my iTunes to 12.0 but my iOS is still 7.
I download some musics not using the iTunes store, so I manually added the explicit tag.
The Problem is that I can see the explicit tag on iTunes, but when i sync the music to my phone.
I cannot see the explicit tag!!
I really want to the little E tag on my phone....
Can you guys please help me?

You need to add the tag:
    <itunes:explicit>yes</itunes:explicit>
in the top section (before the first 'item' tag) to apply to the whole podcast, or between <item>...</item> tags to apply to individual episodes.
If you are using a podcast creation program or service which does not allow you direct access to the feed you will need to look for a place in it where you can set this.

  • Hidden Track Crashes Music App

I purchased an album on iTunes that contains a hidden track as the last track of the album. The hidden track will play when I play the album on my computer, and it burned onto a CD just fine. However, when I play the album on my iPhone (iPhone 5; 8.1.3, but problem was also happening with 8.1.2), the hidden track crashes the Music app. It will play the previous track all the way to the end, but then when it should go to the next (hidden) track, it does one of two things: 1) It will flip to the hidden track momentarily (but not play), then flip back to the track listing screen, then just stop playing and it doesn't proceed onto the first track of the next album for that artist; or 2) Instead of flipping to the hidden track the Music app will just crash and return back to the Home screen.
Syncing my phone with my computer does not solve.  I have not deleted the album off my phone; should I delete and re-download?

I had this same problem with the Leonard Peikoff podcast. I noticed that if I downloaded the podcasts directly from my phone, I could listen to them just fine. However, when I sync'd them from iTunes, the iPod app would crash as soon as I tried to view the podcast under the podcast section.
What I did to resolve it was rename the files in iTunes. The files were named such as "Episode 025 – 8/11/2008" I just removed the " – 8/11/2008" part and now the files can be played.
I don't know for sure, but I think that this may have something to do with the iOS file system or something... Maybe the '/' or '-' character.
It's odd though since my brother seems to be able to play the same files just fine without renaming them (same phone). Others I know who listen also don't have this problem.
    Hope this helps all.

  • Music App Problems iOS7

I am not having problems syncing music with iOS7, however I am having other issues.
For example, the app OFTEN crashes and freezes. This is a native app, should not be having this issue.
Also, why did they take away the feature where double tapping the home button brings up the music controls? Can I bring that back?

Double tap the home button and close out all the "cards" you have open by swiping them up. Make sure you don't have any apps left open. Tap the home button again when your done or just tap on the screen that's left (that can't be closed) now open the music app again it should not crash now. To pull up music controls slide from the very bottom of your screen upward this will bring control center where you can control your music player from any screen (actually better if you ask me) just have to get used to it. Hope that helps. If it doesn't I would consider doing a back up and restore by connecting your phone to iTunes and following the instructions under restore iPhone.

  • IOS7 iTunes automatically starting and trumping other music apps

I'm using an iPhone 5 with Rhapsody 3.5.3 and iOS7.
I like using iTunes, but I also enjoy using other music apps such as: Rhapsody and Wolfgang's Vault.
With iOS6 I could use the controls on my external devices to operate the above mentioned apps.  For example with iOS6 I could use the controls my Jam speaker or Bluetooth headphones to skip or go back on a Rhapsody playlist.  Now, with iOS7, when I use the controls on my external devices itunes launches automatically and starts playing.
Here an example I encounter every day:
    -  I'll plug my iPhone into the USB/iPod port of my car (2013 Kia with iPod integration)
    -  I'll start a playlist or album on Rhapsody .
    -  The title of the song, artist, and album appear on my radio display.
    -  When I press the, "next button" on my radio a song from iTunes starts.
In other words, the iTunes app now automatically launches and trumps Rhapsody.
With iOS6 I was able to control Rhapsody using the controls on my car's radio.
I would really love to be able to use my radio controls to control Rhapsody again, doing so helps keep me focused on the road because the controls are located on the steering wheel.
Everytime I try to advance a track on Rhapsody iTunes automatically starts,  it's making me sick, no exaggeration.
Seriously, I loved Apple until this began occurring.  Is there any way to turn this off?   PLEASE?

I've continued to research.  As to BMW, the notes to BMW's recent upgrade to the entertainment system say that with iphone a "bug" is that occasionally just starts playing.  I believe this is an apple issue as many posts show similar problem across many cars.  Some are when using hardware and some bluetooth.  I think it's just a problem in how the various auto systems integrate with the phone.  My only cure is to disengage the connectivity of the bluetooth streaming audio on the car's system and reselect it when I want to stream audio. Kind of a pain but at least on the BMW it doesn't disconnected the bluetooth feature of the telephone when I do that. Hopefully this will be cured in future upgrades either to the phone or the software in the car (which is upgradable). But I have the latest version now. Interestingly most people say plays first song. Mine picks up with whatever it was playing before, either song or audio book.

  • HT5295 The old podcast player in the music app allowed you to rate the podcast which later gets uploads to iTunes. Is this feature still in the new app?

It's a pretty straight forward question, the podcast player that is built into the music player in iOS has a star rating feature that allows users to rate everything from music to podcasts which is than transfered to iTunes. Since Apple seperate podcasts with it's own app, I have been unable to find the star rating feature in the podcast app. Does anyone know if this is hidden somewhere in the app or can be turned on? It was a really useful feature and I'm surprised Apple didn't expand it further to allow listners to transmit their ratings to podcast producers.

  • Why can I no longer watch music videos in full screen mode via a playlist in the music app since upgrading to ios7?

Since upgrading to ios7 my iPhone 4S no longer allows me to watch music videos in full screen mode when I select the clips via a playlist from the music app.
It's now more necessary than before to use the music app rather than the video app to select music videos to play.  That's because the video app doesn't list music videos by artist any more. And also because the fast forward and rewind buttons on headphones remote no longer work on videos.
How do I watch full screen videos when rotating my iphone now shows my music library rather than showing the video itself?

I do not think it is a problem to play videos in the full screen mode using the video app.  It should work just fine, it does work ok for me  on iphone 5.  The original question was to play music videos in the music app.  Music videos and videos are two different things - I am not sure why but they are.
The problem here is that the music app supports lists and the video app does not.  I just looked at the ios7 video app and while my few test videos are shown in it, the lists they were in (in iTunes) are nowhere to be found.  There is no lists in the video app - period - which is as it was before.
The video app plays videos and music videos in the full screen mode no problem but if you have a few hundreds or more of such videos you will have hard time finding the one you want to play.  There is simply no way to categorize or group videos.  The old good folders/directories are, I guess, too simple for Apple.  It is just too bad that for years on end the world's leader in S/W development did not offer anything to categorize videos.
You have lists, albums, etc., for music, you have albums for pictures but you have absolutely nothing for videos.  And this is and has been the Apple's state-of-the art solution for this problem - simply insist that the problem does not exist.  Actually it is getting worse.  Not only there is nothing to categorize or group videos but now the only way it could be done (by marking videos as music videos and using the music app) results in a mini playback area.
Soon this OS will be able to cook dinner for your but grouping videos... no way.
    What is happening here???

  • Ios7 sort by artist in music app landscape view help or bug

I have installed IOS7 on my iphone 5 and noticed that when you look at your music in landscape view (used to be coverflow) the music is not sorted by artist ? it was in ios6 coverflow.
I have the option selected in the music options and the msuic is sorted by artist but in portrait mode in music app its sorted by artsist but not in landscape (wall view) in the music app.
anyone noticed this i have all my artist albums all over the place in landscape view in the music app
    thanks

Mine is not working either. It just shows the album covers in a random order.  You might want to provide feedback to Apple here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • After iOS7 update I cannot launch the music app. It crashes after a few seconds of white screen. What to do?

Just updated my iPhone 5 (16g) to iOS7 and now I cannot launch the music app anymore.
It opens and then just crashes after a few seconds of white screen.
Also If I go to Settings General About the phone crashes all the time after just a few seconds. :-(
    Andreas

The same for me. iPhone 4S, itunes match and upgrade to ios7 by air.
    So what we have:
    1) Music app does not launch (white screen then close)
    2) About screen crashes (I guess once it tries to calculate music space)
    3) Spotlight does not show any results (no care what I set to search in in the preferences)
    4) iTunes Match slider can not be set to Off. However, it is possible to logout from AppleID, then it off. But this does not change the situaton at all
    5) Podcast app does not launch
I tried to reboot, to sign in with another Apple ID, to turn off itunes Match, to reset all preferences. Nothing helps.
    Things to try:
    - reset all preferences and content
    - reinstall ios7 with itunes from scratch
    - switch to windows phone
