Hidden tag in a jsp

I would like to give a hidden tag a value. The value i need to give the hidden tag is from the previous jsp's hidden tag. how do i do this thank you.

As already stated, some of this depends on the developer and his/her preferences and skillset. However, any business logic that I wanted to protect or hide would automatically go on the server side rather than in plaint-to-see JavaScript. I am more comfortable with the server-side coding and I prefer not to have to deal with browser idiosyncrasies, so I generally prefer Java EE or JavaScript unless there are compelling reasons to perform the work on the client side (such as need for highly dynamic behavior without server accesses).

  • Escape attributes for hidden tags

    Hi all,
    We have a migrated app that created escape attributes for some hidden tags.
    ie.
    <jato:hidden name="stBeginningCommission" fireDisplayEvents="true"
    escape="true" /> <br>
    Looking at the jato.tld and the code for HiddenTag.java, the escape
    attribute isn't one that get used for hiddens.
    We did a quick clean up and removed the attribute from the JSP but I though
    I might be worth a mention for future releases.
    It's interesting is tomcat 3.2.1 allows this and 3.2.3 does not.

    I take everything back.
    The tag was originally a text field. It was changed after translation to a
    hidden without removing the attribute.

  • How to use Flex tag library in jsp

    Hi All,
    We are planning to use flex in our J2EE application in order
    to show some charts. Our j2ee application is in JSP,Struts. I have
    searched on google about this and found that I can include flex 3
    tab library in the jsp in order to use mxml tag in the jsp. I have
    written a sample program in the jsp which uses flex.
    <%@ taglib uri="FlexTagLib" prefix="mm" %>
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    function showMessage() {
    message.value = "Use this application wisely";
    function hideMessage() {
    message.value = "";
    </SCRIPT>
    <mm:mxml border="5" onmouseover="showMessage();"
    onmouseout="hideMessage();">
    </mm:mxml>
    <TABLE>
    <TR>
    <TD><input type="text" name="message"
    size="50"></TD>
    </TR>
    </TABLE>
    I have added entry inweb.xml. See below,
    <taglib>
    <taglib-uri>FlexTagLib</taglib-uri>
    <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/tlds/flex-bootstrap.jar</taglib-location>
    </taglib>
    Following are the problems that I am currently facing.
    1) Could anybody let me know whether the entry of
    <taglib> tag is correct in the web.xml. Is it the correct
    jar(flex-bootstrap.jar) that I should include?
    2) If yes, from where to download it? or
    If no, what is correct jar that i should include and how?
    your response will be highly appriciated as this is the major
    requirement in our project?
    Thanks ,
    Chandan

  • Problem redering h:outputText tag on a jsp fragment

    Hello to all... I'm trying to understand and use this new technology and I have encountered a problem that I cannot find any documentation as how to solve it. First I have my welcome.jsp page that I am using to call my fragment:

        </table>My problem is that the <h:outputText> tag is rendering the values outside the table. This is what gets displayed:
    Java Server Faces
    Hour1234567TOTAL
    If I copy/paste the table tags (including the <h:outputText> tags) on the main jip, it renders without any problem:
    Java Server Faces
    Hour 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 TOTAL
    I'm guessing that I might be missing some other jsf tag inside the jsp fragment. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    -thanks
    Rolando

    I can suggest you with the following solutions
    1. try having <%out.flush();%> before and after c:import
    2. try with jsp:include with flush=true
    Can you reply back with which one works? I didnt try out both of them
    Thanks

  • No. of hidden fields in a jsp..

    Hi,
    I would like to know if there is any limit to the no. of hidden fields in a jsp page. What effect does the page/browser have if there are many hidden fields(like about say 50) in a single page.
    any ideas.
    thanks
    jag

    The only limitations I know about are in HTTP itself.
    GET request on Internet Explorer supports a maximum of 2,048 characters
    (ex. http://whatever.com/index.jsp?id=23&hidden1=2912912&hidden2=123987123)
    POST request not sure of the limitations but I know its more than 2,048
    hope this helps

  • How we can use jsf tags in included jsp enclosed in subview tags

    Hello everybody,
    I am developing web app by using jsf. I am including a jsp page "header.jsp" into another jsp page "main.jsp". The header.jsp page is enclosed in jsf subview tag on main.jsp page. The header.jsp contains some static html code and some jsf tags like "outputText". When i added tag library url in header.jsp then my app was not even not initiating and i was getting following exception
    ERROR [UIComponentTag] Faces context not found. getResponseWriter will fail. Check if the FacesServlet has been initialized at all in your web.xml.
    16:22:16,890 ERROR [[jsp]] Servlet.service() for servlet jsp threw exception
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at javax.faces.webapp.UIComponentTag.setupResponseWriter(UIComponentTag.java:929)
    at javax.faces.webapp.UIComponentTag.doStartTag(UIComponentTag.java:310)
    ....Now i removed jsf tag library url from included jsp "header.jsp" so now my app is running but only static html data is being displayed but the value in the jsf tag "outputText" is not being printed in the browser
    kindly help me. i would be very thankful....

    Your question has nothing to do with Sun Java System Directory Server.
    Please use the right forum(s).
    Thanks

  • Can I use any Class in a Use Bean Tag of a JSP

    I have tried to modify the existing EditForm.java file and created a new Class File which changes the presentation(render method)in the Edit Form.
    can I use the new class as a Bean in the use bean tag of a JSP.

    You can use any class as part of the useBean tag. If you want to add your class to the list of available webbeans, you can add it to <jdev dir>\teamplates\webbeans.xml.

  • Overwriting the value of an html:hidden tag using javascript

    Hi!
    Can somebody help me with my problem?
    I need to overwrite the value of my html:hidden tag using javascript, but I dont know how?
    Any help?
    Thanks

    what are you talking about :x
    thats a webapplication question, wrong forum..
    But you are using STRUTS I would say...
    <html:hidden property="hiddenfield"/>This is the proper way of doing it.. but overrighting it
    I don't think you understand why we use that?
    It is only for forms.... we use that for hidden input ... It is common sence not to overrde that value.

  • Use var of sql:query tag into a jsp fragment code

    Hi, i'm spanish and my english is not very good XD.
    I need to use some data from <sql:query> tag into code jsp <% %>
    EXAMPLE:
    <sql:query var="variable">
    </sql:query>
    <% what can i do to access to "variable" here????????? %>
    i need to save in session (session.setAttribute(...)) a field of the response of the query saved in "variable"
    i need help!!!!, thanks!!!!!!!!

    i need to save in session (session.setAttribute(...)) a field of the response of the query saved in "variable"Why do you need java code to do this? If you are using JSTL sql tags, then why not keep using JSTL tags?
    <c:set var="valueToSave" value="${variable.field}" scope="session"/>EL variables are actually already stored as attributes in scope.
    So to get hold of "variable" you could use <%= pageContext.findAttribute("variable") %>
    and that would give you the object stored by the EL.
    cheers,

  • Found tag library, no jsp-tag-lib manifest entry

    Yes sorry, you're correct. The uri I mentioned is just 1.0.
    Do you have the "Oracle WebLogic Web App Extension" Facet for your web project? If not, try adding that and making sure that there is a weblogic.xml file created in the WEB-INF dir. The weblogic.xml file allows you to deploy usig a shared lib for JSTL. It should contain a library-ref element something like the following, with a version of 1.1.
    <wls:library-ref>
    <wls:library-name>jstl</wls:library-name>
    <wls:specification-version>1.1</wls:specification-version>
    <wls:exact-match>true</wls:exact-match>
    </wls:library-ref>

    You seem to be using both the EL and the RT JSTL libs on the same page.
    If you are in a JSP1.2 container, then you can only use EL with the EL tags, and <%= expr %> with the rt tags.
    If you have a JSP2.0 container (eg Tomcat 5) properly configured (ie web.xml is version 2.4) then you should use JSTL1.1, which accepts both sorts of expressions. (${expr} is a runtime expression in JSP2.0)
    Try either
    <c:forEach var='x' items='${lista}'>
    or
    <c_rt:forEach var='x' items='<%= Valores %>'>
