Hide all applications

Hello there. Someone I know is having a hard transition from OS9 to OSX. Is there a keyboard command on OSX to hide all open windows and show the desktop? Is there a program that puts that application switcher thing from OS9 in the menu bar, in OSX? Any info that would ease the transition is appreciated. Thanks

Yes,
using Exposé you can show the desktop the F11 way (or set hot corners for the mouse).
You can also switch between application windows, or all applications windows: play with the F9 and F10 options followed by Tab.
You can also use Application Switcher to toggle between all open apps:
Command-Tab (keep Command down then Tab-Tab-Tab or `-`-`).
Hide All:
you can only "Hide Others", using the usual Option-Command-H shortcut, or by Option-holdclicking the Finder icon in the Dock.
By the way, you can combine mousing with the F keys too.

Why does "Hide all Applications" not hide all applications?

Currently, when I invoke the "Hide all Applications" action, it leaves some apps visible. This happens all the time with Safari if it is open. This is clearly a bug -- is there a workaround for it?

As far as I know, we could not hide the All Applications Arrow-down icon from Start Screen via Group Policy.

Does Cmd+H not hide all applications in Yosemite?

When I press Cmd+H to hide each open app, it works as expected until I get to the last visible app. Instead of the last app being hidden and showing my desktop, pressing Cmd+H will either toggle (hide/unhide) between the last two apps, or not hide the last app at all.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior? Is it possible to restore the Mavericks behavior where I can simply hide all the apps to eventually see the desktop? (Note - this is different than Mission Control's Show Desktop)

I want to hide an application so that it doesn't show up on the iPhone (4S w/ iOS 6.1) or on the Apps screen when I sync my iPhone to the computer. I used to be able to do this before the upgrade. Is there a way?

Before I upgraded to iOS 6, there was a way to hide an application on my phone. When you did this is only showed up in Featured Apps in the App Store and specifically, would only appear in "Hidden Apps". Also, the app wouldn't show up at all on my device when I sync to the computer. I can't figure out how to hide an app anymore. Can anyone help? Oh and I'm talking about purchased apps...not the ones that come standard with the iPhone.

How to hide Task bar permanently ?
How to set specific logo as screensaver ?

I have to do all these setting through MDT and want to include that in base image (Core Image). If you know any thing how to do any of the above settings in
Windows 7x86 Embedded Standard please reply .

What I did was to provide the Notifier stage with an owner. (This is only a solution if your application has a single stage.)
1. In method initGraphics() remove the line: stage.show();
2. Create the following method in Notifier:
public static void setStageOwner( Stage stageRef )
INSTANCE.stage.initOwner( stageRef );
3. In method showPopup( Notification ) add the following line before: POPUP.show( stage );
if ( ! stage.isShowing() ) stage.show();
else stage.toFront();
4. When you setup your application's stage call:
Notifier.setStageOwner( yourAppsStage );

Document library, hide all documents by default.

I have a document library and I want to give access to client. I want to hide all documents by default except the few I share with them.
If I upload new document it should not be visible to them by default until I share with them.
I have given read access to client but they can see all documents by default and every time I upload a new document I have to manually control the permissions.

If you want only document creator has view/edit/delete permission on document item created by himself, it has to set the permission on the list time level for each item.
You can try using workflow to break the item permission inheritance and replace the proper permision on the current item per the following article.

For uplaoding document to a library, I tested before, you can check and make sure the user has "View Application pages" permission on library level, then test again.

For that you will need some 3rd Party Application.. Create another Folder and move all such applications there-in.. and you should be able to Password protact that folder...but the compatibility will depend upon your device. Check here after setting your Device Model...

Is there a way to hide ALL file extensions?

I am looking for a way to get OS X to hide ALL file extensions on the entire computer. I don't know why, but they really annoy me! I liked OS 9 and earlier because they didn't have them, and including them in OS X seems like a step backward to me. Wherever I can I simply don't save with file extensions (MS Office still retains this ability), and most applications will still open their files if you delete the file extension, but I do have a number of applications that require a file extension (such as OmniGraffle Pro), and it is very laborious to have to go through every file in order to hide the file extension. Is there some kind of master setting that you can apply to a volume in order to hide every file extension in it?

It is a quick way to hide the extensions of all files that have them in a given folder and the folders inside it, using automator. It does not hide the extensions of any file you add to the folder subsequently, and you can not apply it to a volume or a home folder. It is more of a labour-saving tool than an actual solution, but it is vastly better than having to get info for every single file.
As the author of the tutorial notes in his video, this is an option that apple could fix by just adding one more check-box to the finder preferences window. Or better still they could have just left things the way they were before and not introduced them in the first place... does anyone even know what they are for anyway? (Apart from to annoy you with a random bit of text at the end of a filename that you didn't place there.)

Sticky hide show - application

Dear all,
I justed installed the sticky hide show - application to take advantage of the ajax and dhtml logic, but when I try to run the application or single pages I always get the ORA-01722: invalid number error message and I don't know the reason for that. My apex version is compatible with this demo version.

Hi. Sorry post not clear - is exactly the same issue - get 'ORA-01722: invalid number'. on one ApEx installation but not on another. In fact this applies to the demo app that downloads from OTN for the sticky windows as well as our app after adding the "sticky" functionality.
Mentioned page 101 as this is a system generated page (easily allows reproduction of the error in a test app) and this localises the 'ORA-01722 error in the process added as part of the sticky show-hide implementation. The only element of the "sticky" implemented by this point in the (first) app page is the application process triggered at page "On Load". See my post:
If you set the app to use the Application Express authentication scheme and
then run it, you get the error on page 101, followed by the process error
message inserted for the SHOW_HIDE_OUTPUT "On Load" process. This
implies the problem is in the show_hide_collection_output procedure in the
package.You can check out the show_hide_collection_output procedure in the package using the apex object browser or sql*developer - its the one called at the point the error is generated.. The installed package supporting the sticky implementation is called "show_hide_memory"

Hide all opened jframes / Minimize to system tray

can u all help me by telling
either
1) how to minimize an application and send it to the system tray without showing on the task bar
or
2) how to show / hide all the JFrame that are currently opened

What you seek to achieve is simple if you use the features provided in JDK 6. You need to call the setExtendedState( ) method on your JFrame using the MINIMIZE option and then call setVisible(false) on the frame to remove it from the taskbar.
The next step is to use the SystemTray, TrayIcon, PopupMenu classes found the java.awt.* package to create your own SystemTray Icon and show this in the system tray. This not very hard to do. So upgrade your JDK to version 6 if you already haven't and take a wack at it. Post back here if you have any problems
Note: you can enclose all this activity in a WindowListener to make it automated.

All applications are not responding when Macbook pro wake from sleep,
the keyboard and touch pad are okay.

I want to see if there's a service that may be preventing it from working properly when waking from sleep. To test this, we'll need to Disable all non-system-critical services to see if the issue occurs.
If it does not, that means one of those services that was disabled, is causing the issue.
If the touchscreen is still unresponsive after sleep with all of those non-critical services disabled, then it may be something with the registry or the hardware.
Here are the steps to disable non-critical services:
Windows + Q to bring up Search
Type 'msconfig' and press Enter
Click the Services Tab
Check the Hide All Microsoft Services box
Click the Disable All button
Click Apply and Restart
Once it restarts let it go into sleep mode and then wake it back up from sleep mode and test the touchscreen. Do this a couple of times, if you have time. (When you're done troubleshooting, you'll have to go back into msconfig and re-enable all of those non-critical services, apply and restart.)

Data Managers from all applications into one unique package

The issue is that we are trying to put all the Data manager packages in all applications into one unique package.
If BPC admin changes the parameters or currency rates , he just has to run that one package which includes all necessary
packages and he may look into logs if he has to.
Firstly , We tried to put multiple run_logic process types into one process chains, but it is giving errors like;
u201CAn exception with the type CX_SY_TABLE_KEY_SPECIFICATION occurred, but was neither handled locally, nor declared in
a RAISING clause Line Type Contains a Component with the Name FI_ACCu201D

The system tried to insert a data record, even though a data record with the same primary key already existsu201D.
Secondly, after we read the blog () and we tried to run program

Is there any other solution you can advise?

Hi. I have a similar issue to the one posted below in that I want to run a logic script for one application (call it Application A) from a DM package in a different application (Application B). This is to stop the user from having to switch between applications to run the logic.
I have tried the following:
1. I have tried putting the script logic from App A into App B, but the dimensionality is different so it fails to validate.
2. I have tried "hard coding" the application name within the process chain, but it fails with an error "u201CAn exception with the type CX_SY_TABLE_KEY_SPECIFICATION occurred ...." similar to the post below.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
