Hide Attributes in Address book

Good day ,
I tried to use ABSConfig to hide mobile number from Lync contact card with no luck ,
i couldn't find any proper documentation for ABSConfig, so what i already tried is
1 - Uncheck the "Enabled" check box for mobile attribute , along with other check boxes for that row
2 - i tried to select the row and hit delete button on keyboard.
then i ran Update-CSAddressbook , waited more than 24 hours .. no change!
has anyone done this before ?
Best Regards Bisher Shbib

Hi,
User Replicator determines which Active Directory attributes to write by reading a configuration table located in the same SQL Server-based instance as the AbUserEntry table. The AbAttribute table contains three columns,
ID,
Name, Flags, and
Enable.
You can refer to the link below:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg429711%28v=ocs.15%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
The default Flags value for the Mobile is “0x0B622800”, try to change it to “0x4000B622800”
After you modify the AbAttribute table, you can refresh the data in the AbUserEntry table by running the cmdlet
Update-CsUserDatabase command. After UR replication completes, you can update the file in the Address Book Server file store by manually running the cmdlet
UpdateCsAddressBook command.

  • LDAP, Address Book, Mail

    Hi
I have an LDAP server functioning as a shared address book. I have configured addressbook and mail to use that server for contact searches.
My problem is that many contacts have multiple email addresses (home, office, etc.) and in LDAP these are stored as different instances of the 'mail' attribute. The 'mail' attribute must then be mapped somehow to the 'Email' attribute on Address Book. However, searching the directory in either address book or the 'to' field of Mail only gives me the first mail listed, and there's no way to show any others. It labels the first address as 'work' and doesn't give any more info.
Does anyone know how to get around this? I am new to LDAP so maybe you're not supposed to store multiple values for the same attribute?
    Many thanks

Anyone know how to convince Apple to add this functionality?
I doubt Tiger's Mail will get many changes, if any, but...
    Here's their Feedback page...
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
I don't exactly see Mail mentioned, so maybe this one...
But there is Mail under the Feedback Area dropdown menu here...
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
Or is it perhaps present in Leopard/SL?
No LDAP to test here, but both Mail & AB are improved.

  • A silly address book question.

So I was arranging my little applications menu when somehow I managed to hide/delete my address book (I'm not sure which.) When I dial a number or type a name all of my numbers are there, but I can't get to my actual address book at all. Can anybody help me out?

On the homescreen, press Menu (the key left of the trackball) and SHOW ALL, needs to be checked.
Look again for the address book.
You may also have simply moved the address book to another folder.

  • When printing a list in Address Book, how can I select more than the default Attributes and keep them selected when I print again? I want to print ALL information for contacts so I have email address, notes, phone, company, title, etc all on one page.

When printing a list in Address Book, how can I select more than the default Attributes and keep them selected when I print again? I want to print ALL information for contacts so I have email address, notes, phone, company, title, etc all on one page. I don't want to have to check off an additional 5 or 6 attributes each time I print out contact information. Is there a way to change the default setting for printing lists, so it is not just "phone," "photo," and "job title?"

I have a user who wants to do this same thing. I did not find any way either to default the attributes to anything other than what you see the first time. Seems like such a trivial thing, hard to believe they do not allow it. I did find a program for this called iDress but I can't seem to download it from any links on the Internet. Not sure if it is free or not, but it was recommended by a link on the Mac support site.

  • How can I send an email to a group in my address book, but hide the individual names and email addresses?

how can I send an email to a group in my address book, but hide the individual names and email addresses?

You used to be able to do this through leaving unchecked the box in preferences "when sending to a group show all member addresses". However, that feature failed some time ago (two or three years?) and the only way to hide the addresses now is to put the group in the BCC field.

  • In Address Book, any way to Show/Hide groups from view in the "ALL" view?

I have groups of contacts in Address Book (v4.0.4) that I plan to use in the future, but right now having to wade through and past all of their individual entries when I am scanning my contact list in the "All" group view. Is there any way to Show/Hide these sub-groups with a visibility check-box? The sub-group name would still be there in the group list (to remind me that it exists and make it visible if desired), but I would have a lot less clutter and scrolling the rest of the time.
I know I can export groups in vCard format and re-import later, but a lot of my original custom fields for the contacts are lost in the process. Is there a 3rd-party plug-in? (Apple, are you working on something like this?)

Hi Mike, My Address Book app is behaving correctly (maybe I'm not).
I'm just saying there are times when I want to see "most" of my total collection of contacts, maybe just for the purpose of creating new groups at particular time and want to see at one time the pool of contacts I have to choose from. There are groups that I very seldom need to use, so it would be a way of putting those groups (and their contacts) into "cold storage."
I also may want to do searches from among most of my contacts, but also I may want to eliminate certain other particular groups from that search pool. That is the reason for wanting to do the "Show/Hide" thing. It is a way of displaying a logical "ALL" minus "SOME", which is the basically same thing as displaying the logical "UNION" of more than one group of contacts at one time. Can this be done?
Is there a way to open alternate address books, from within the same Address Book app (and logged in as the same user)? That would allow me to truly isolate my work list from my home list.
One answer to this occurs to me: I could create different log-ins on my PowerBook, and build the different variants of the Address Book I might want into each login and use Fast User Switching to get into each list of contacts. That seems like a lot of extra work . . . and logging in. Any suggestions?

  • In Lion, can I hide the address book without the application closing?

In Snow Leopard, when I clicked the red circle in the upper left-hand corner of the address book, the application automatically hid without closing entirely. In Lion, the same action closes the application so every time I need to use it, the address book has to reopen and reboot. Is there a way to change my preferences so the application hides instead of closing?

I have to keep a number of documents and other files minimized, which really crowds my dock. I'd rather be able to hide applications like calendar (which hides without an issue) and address book. I'm not sure why apple made this change. Most of the other appliations work this way—hiding when you hit the red button. I've been minimizing, but finding it a cumbersome way to use the application.

  • Custom attributes added to user objects not visible in OWA address book

    Hi,
I am using Exchange 2013 and recently added a new custom attribute in the user object properties using the details template editor to be visible in the GAL  The new attribute is correctly getting displayed in the GAL from outlook clients but not visible
in OWA address book. Is there a way to update the display of user objects in OWA address book to include the new custom attribute?
    Thanks!

    Hi Abu,
    Please see following link:
    Customize Details Templates
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms.exch.toolbox.detailstemplate(v=exchg.150).aspx
It says, Use the Details Templates Editor to customize the client-side graphical user interface (GUI) presentation of object properties that are accessed by using address lists in Microsoft Outlook.
My understanding is this setting only visible in Outlook.
Please correct me if there is any misunderstanding.

  • Formation of a separate address book sorted by NAME attribute

In one Ekchange organization with a single address book, there are Russian-speaking people and English-speaking users.
American counterparts, in comparison with Russian not so much. Hence there exists a naming standard in which:
Displayname - Cyrillic (Russian), but "FirstName" and "Lastname" - Latin (English) and the attribute "Name" - Latin.
In the global address book - names sorted by Displayname (Russian). US users have a problem.
How for US users (English-speaking), change the appearance of the book by default, or create an address book in which the main attribute of the sort will be the Name field or LastName?

    Hi,
You can't change the way the Address Books is sorted - It is hardcoded to use the DisplayName.

  • Hide function in Login Items doesn't work for iChat and Address Book app.

There is a problem with the hide function for iChat and Address Book application in Login Items. If you go to System Preferences, click on Login Items, add the iChat and Address Book application to the Login Items, activate the hide function for iChat and Address Book application and restart your Mac iChat and Address Book application will start with opening a window. Normally this shouldn't happen if the hide function in Login Items is activated for iChat and Address Book application.

    Hi,
Your link refers to changes to 10.6.3 prior release as tested by Developers.
The numbering system tells us that. (Build 10Dxxx).
Therefore it is an Update and not an Upgrade, therefore no-one is going to get charged.
If the article is the so called Release Notes then they mention nothing about correcting any issue with Login Items Hiding.
If you think an issue is being missed there is a place to report that, from this icon view list http://www.apple.com/feedback/ which includes Hardware and Software.
I personally have not tested Login Items Hiding as I tend to think there is no point in having an App open if it not on the Desktop.
As Kappy pointed out there was little progress on a similar issue with Leopard.
This could be interpreted that Apple feel that the issue does not effect enough people or that other issues are more important.
As anyone and everyone can report Issues and contribute their ideas to the OS and it's improvement via the Feedback links it would seem to be a question of enough people bringing it to Apple's Attention.
I would tend to work on Issues that stopped an App functioning first, linked with integration with the OS and any changes to the major parts of it such as a Quicktime.
Lesser issues that maybe more cosmetic in appearance would tend to fall down my list of things to do.
Presumably Apple have a grading system on such things that may not fit with either of our views.
As Apple don't reveal any details about the OS Updates or even Upgrades then anything any of us think we interpret as a pattern is just that - an interpretation.
Consequently anything we say on the subject is then likely to be seen as speculation under the Terms of Use of these Boards.

  • Address Book now showing all LDAP attributes

The Address Book does not provide access to all LDAP attributes. For example
    homePhone
    homePostalAddress
    labeledURI
are some of the fields currently left out. It would be nice if it was possible to configure the schema mapping, similar to thunderbird which allows the mapping off all the field it know about to corresponding LDAP attributes. Also inetOrgPerson, even though it is the defacto standard is rather due for redesign.
I am just wondering if anybody else if having this problem and if they found a solution?

the script did not work for me
    python fixBirthdays
    Traceback (most recent call last):
File "fixBirthdays", line 6, in <module>
    import AddressBook
    ImportError: No module named AddressBook
further, the particular one vcard that is misbehaving - i exported it, and opened in Tedit.
this is what isee for the date field.
    item1.X-ABDATE;type=pref:2003-06-17
    year is not negative either.
i unchecked and checked birthday calendar in iCal. exited iCal after uncheck, relaunched iCal and checked that option.
    no show of the birthdate.
    stumped.

  • How to hide a contact in Address Book?

May I hide certain contacts in Address Book?

I'm assuming you don't want to hide a contact from yourself ... it sounds like you just need to start using the multiple-user nature of OS X (System Preferences - Accounts). Use one login for yourself, and set up others for anyone else who uses your computer (or one "general" account for everyone else - make sure you set it as Standard and not Admin). They will have their own address book, and yours will remain private.

  • How to hide some contacts from Yahoo's address book?

I have recently acquired the iPhone 5 and am very impressed with it.  I like the idea of using contacts from the iPhone, iCloud, GMail and Yahoo and linking them together in a unified contact, very cool idea!
The problem that I have is that I have some contacts in my address book in Yahoo that are there just so that messages from those email addresses are not bounced to the Junk folder.  I want to keep them around but I do not want them clogging up my iPhone.
I can delete them from the iPhone but does this delete them from my yahoo account as well or is there a way of just hiding them?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    //*eggbox

That is a cop out, there is obviously a need to have unified contacts otherwise Apple would not have gone to the trouble of providing the feature in the first place.  The hole in the feature (in my opinion) is that it assumes that every contact in Yahoo, Facebook and GMail are equal when they are not.
I have a workaround but it is not pretty, I created a dummy entry and linked every email address that I am not interested in to this contact, so they are "hidden" as such in a single entry.  The problem with this approach is that it takes a long time to get everything in the unified contact (lots of scrolling), also, there is no way of managing this through iTunes (on a PC in my instance).
Bottom line is that it is a pain (you said that it would be) but there is no real alternative unless anyone else knows otherwise.

  • Disabled users still in address book

We are running Exchange 2000 on a Windows 2003 / AD platform. Disabled users are still appearing in the Outlook 2003 address book. Shouldn't they be automatically hidden? Users are accessing these addresses and creating emails, but of course can't get to the users.
Firstly, how do I make a list of all users that were disable but are still in the address list. Secondly, what's the best method to hide them (without having to access each one separately) ?
    Thanks.

Well, just disabling user account doesn't remove the user name from address book. You need select an option "Hide from Exchange address lists" available in Exchange Advance tab of user properties.
I used to get the list of disabled users which are not hidden in GAL with below custom LDAP query in Exchange 2003.
Open ADU&C, Right click on Domain & click on Find, in Find select "custom search", select Advance tab and in "Enter LDAP Query" paste below ldap query and click on Fiind Now.
    (mailNickname=*)(userAccountControl=66050)(!msExchHideFromAddressLists=True)
You may need to verify the value of an attribute "userAccountControl" of any disabled user with ADSIEdit.msc and give that value instead of 66050 because that one I used in Exchange 2003 and Windows 2003 environment.

  • Address Books policies

We need to expose 5 distribution groups only to a select group of users, but since all users can see the GAL they appear for everyone. Hiding the distribution groups just hides them from everyone.
I tried using a custom attribute with an address list for these distro groups, and that actually works great, they appear in the custom address list.... but they still also appear in the GAL which everyone can see.
How can we hide/remove them from the GAL but not the custom address list? Or how to create them so that they don't go to the GAL at all?

    Hi,
If you want to just restrict these 5 distribution groups only available for specific senders using, we can achieve it by configuring the
Accept Messages From setting in the Message Delivery Restrictions, and specifying mail-enabled groups who are allowed to send to the list. This method can limit distribution group using but it can’t limit distribution group visible in GAL.
For details, please refer to the following article:
    http://exchangeserverpro.com/restrict-distribution-group-exchange-server-2010/
If you want to create a custom Global Address List for specific users, we need to use address book policy to achieve it. We can
divide your organizations into two parts: A specific group users who can view 5 distribution groups and other users who can’t view 5 groups by using
CustomAttribute15 parameters. Then create custom address book policy for two parts users respectively. Here are some deployment scenarios about it:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj657455(v=exchg.150).aspx
    Hope it helps.
