Hide computer's name over internet!

Hi there ,
Can my computer's name be seen over internet just like windows? If yes how can I hide it while surfing via browser or even when I'm not surfing and having other connections via other things?

But as long as IP of TC is visible the incoming connection can also be redirected to my computer.
No, actually, it cannot. Not unless you edit the settings for your Time Capsule and set up port forwarding... and that's assuming that the cable/DSL modem is a "dumb device" that simply passes on all traffic, which may or may not be the case.
( by the way hiding the IP was not my question)
No, but it is relevant to the question. The issue, as I understood it, was whether or not your machine is accessible from the outside world, and it is not.
By sending a request to a website or server for a connection you send many information about your system( browser,OS, version, mac address, language and so on) in windows as far as I know the name of the user's computer can be seen by the server side
I don't know if that is true or not, but I can tell you for a fact this is not the case on a Mac. I just used Wireshark to capture all the traffic involved in loading a web page, then searched it for my machine's name. It was not found. Of course, I'm not sure what anyone would do with my machine's name... I'll even tell it to you right now: "Zeus". That gives you no power whatsoever over my machine.

  • How to transfer more than one files over internet at once?

    hi, friends,
    I just wonder how to transfer more than one files from one computer to another over internet at once. Not using ftp. pls any one give me the solution.

    This isn't hard to do, but it depends on your exact need. I did something very similar to let me upload all my mp3 file from home to work using sockets (don't have the code anymore..).
    What I did was implement a "pull" approach rather than a "push" approach. In other words, everytime my server got a request from a client, it served up the next file. It didn't know or care that the client was always the same.
    If you can set up a server to serve one file when a client attaches, then basically just put that code in a loop.
    If this doesn't meet you need, it might still be helpful as a starting point...

    My wife had an iPad for a year and synced to our computer with no problem.  I recently received an ipad2 and when I tried to sync using separate apple and iTunes passwords, under her computer user name, it appears I over-road her account and synced all her apps with my apps on my iPad.  I then set myself up as a new user on our computer and tried to sync.  I now get the error that my iPad is synced to another library.  How can I start over without erasing all my data on the iPad?

    Go back to her login.  Unless you deliberately erased apps, they should all be there, both yours and hers!  Then, you need to set up each iPad separately.  You will notice that they have separate names for that very purpose.
    There is no problem with multiple Apple IDs on the same iTunes on the same computer except...  Apps are permanently associated with the ID that was originally used to obtain them.  If you choose to update an app from inside iTunes and you're logged into the "wrong" ID, you must log out and back in again.
    On the bright side, you can configure either or both iPads to sync with apps and music and movies, etc. from either or both IDs.  Further, if you choose to update the apps from the iPads themselves, there is no need to log out/in.  The device handles that.  All you need is the correct password.  In my case, I use the same password for both IDs to make things easier.

    Hi Lynn,
    Thanks for your analyst and reply, I run the command as you suggested and checked accordingly to Task Manager, but seems none of them indicates a firewall or anti-virus.

    Hi,
    I used to get "Unable to identify the trading partner agreemen" due to below reasions,
    1. Agreement is not deployed properly. Please check whether deployed agreement is in active state.
    2. While creating the Operational Capability, please check whether initiator and responder defined correctly.
    For Outbound, Please check Remote trading partner Is Initiator should be false and Host trading partner Is Initiator should be true.
    As far as I know, File name convention should be folllowed for FTP/File and not for HTTP.

      Is the phone that you are running the app from, the primary line for your plan? I had an issue with my RAZR MAXX where with my Fascinate it worked fine, but the MAXX would not let me access it, as it was not the primary line. Once I created a new MyVerizon account username and password it let me in, and I could see everything. The original account worked fine if I ran the app from the primary line phone.

  • Question on how to Hide the User Name, Password, and Domain fields in the MDT Wizard

    MDT 2012 U1
    Deploying Windows 7 via Offline Media (ISO) to MS Virtual PC's
    I am looking on how to Hide the User Name, Password, and Domain fields which are prepopulated in the MDT wizard via the CS.ini (Not so concerned about the Domain field as I am User Name and Password)
    We do need the Computer Name and OU fields to be seen, so skipping the wizard is not a option
    The client just does not want these fields to be seen by the end users, they dont want them to even know the account name used for adding the machine to the domain, of course the password is not displayed but it must not be displayed either.
    But since we use the fields they must still  be fuctional just not seen.
    Thanks.....

    You shouldn't have to edit DeployWiz_Definition_ENU.xml. You should only need to add "SkipAdminPassword=YES" to the CS.ini file and your authentication information.
    Example:
    [Settings]
    Priority=Default
    Properties=MyCustomProperty
    [Default]
    OSInstall=Y
    SkipCapture=NO
    SkipAdminPassword=YES
    UserID=<MyUserID>
    UserPassword=<MyPassword>
    UserDomain=<MyDomain.com>
    SkipProductKey=NO
    SkipComputerBackup=YES
    SkipBitLocker=NO
    -Nick O.
    Nick,
    SkipAdminPassword=YES is for:
    You can skip the Administrator Password wizard page by using this property in the
    customsettings.ini.
    I am hidding the Username/Password/and domain field in the computer name Wizard pane which is read from the cs.iniDomainAdmin=xxxxx
    DomainAdminPassword=xxxxx
    DomainAdminDomain=xxxxxx
    JoinDomain=xxxxxx

  • How to control and display video from IP camera using ActiveX control over Internet.

    Hello,
    I need to control my IP cameras over the internet. I need to log into the cameras and then display the video.  There's an ActiveX control registered on the computer and works fine with IE to access and control the cameras. Controlling the cameras using IE works fairly well, but there are some quirks that I'd like to eliminate by using my own custom code.
    Has anyone created a vi that controls a Foscam FI8905W over the Internet? I’ve attempted, but I keep getting a catastrophic failure when I try to call ManagementConnect Method in the DVM_IPCam2 ActiveX Control Module V1.0. I'm not sure whether I need to establish an IP connection with the cameras first, or allow the ActiveX control to establish it for me.
    Some example code would be greatly appreciated. Running LabVIEW 2011 on a Win7 32bit.  Even some code used to control a similar device using ActiveX over Internet would be helpful.

    I have an example vi for interfacing to the foscam activex.
    I plan on using mouse click events within the activex window to trigger the PT function.
    I only have the basic up/down/right/left directions and not the down-right/down-left/up-right/up-left in the enum.  You can load the camera's web page and view the source to see the Java script code that uses the activex control.  There are definitions for the other directions.
    I had to mark the control as "Disabled" to keep click events from going to the activex control.  If I double click the control, it goes full screen.  If I then click on it to get out of full screen mode the video never returns or returns to the wrong spot in the VI.

  • Multiple Clients on same network over internet

    Alright, on my G5 at work I can control my powerbook from home via ARD, but I also have an ibook on the network here at home too, along with my powerbook. Can you only control one computer on a network over the internet? I have the powerbook set up with 5900 on the airport express, and the ibook with 5901, both have 3283 enabled. No firewall on the computers themselves, but as I said I have port forwarding set up for both machines. Now when I have ARD open on the G5 at my office I can see my powerbook, but not the ibook, I even tried changing the port to 5901 (which is forwarded to the ibook), but it still connected to my powerbook, which is at port 5900, so that doesn't make sense.
    Is what I want not possible or am I missing something?

    I think this is what you are asking... and according to this Apple article, you can only connect to one NAT computer from a public Internet address.

  • Custom XML Over  Internet

    Where can i download the details reg the Custom XML Over Internet Document protocols information ?

    Hello Saravana,
    We have already send you the artifacts for implementing Custom XML Document over AS2.
    1. Tutorial document (Custom Document):as2tutorial.zipp
    2. Configuration export files attached: as2_export.zipp
    3. Sample payload: Acme_ORDERS.xml.
    While modeling the Document Definition parameters make sure the following(xpath)
    IdentificationExpression(Xpath)= /*/*[local-name()='shipto']/*[local-name()='country']
    for the attached payload(Acme_ORDERS.xml).
    Please let us know if you require any clarifications

  • Accessing discoverer viewer over internet

    URL's host name is changed when i am clicking to expand report link for work sheet selection. I have installed Oracle 10g AS and discoverer and trying to access work sheets over internet using discoverer viewer.

    Hello Michael,
    Thank you for your response. I did not changed fully qualified domain name. I am trying to access the discoverer viewer from outside of our LAN through internet. I have configured firewall to allow HTTP trafic to exposed server and mapped public IP and port to local discoverer server (port forwarding) to route discoverer viewer requests to discoverer server. Discover server is in our local domain with local IP address. I am able to view the viewer login and Worksheet list page with public IP in discoverer URL. When i am clicking to expand worksheet in worksheet list page, viewer changes the IP address part of URL to local host name. This local host name is not resolved outside and IE shows the 'Page Not Found' error. Pl suggest the way to resolve this issue.
    Thanks,
    Sambhaji Ghorpade

  • Outlook is not connecting through Workgroup Machine over internet using Outlook Anywhere

    users can connect successfully using outlook anywhere over internet if machine are on domain, well problem with workgroup machine that are not connecting over the internet as outlook keep prompting password well i have configured outlook Anywhere with
    default negotiate authentication as well as ssl offloading is checked and using same name for internal and external urls. also have valid 3rd party certificate configured on server.
    Talha Faraz Malik

    Hi,
    Step 1 :In addition to that , please use remote connectivity analyzer to check outlook anywhere in internet .
    From that we came to know the exact error .
    Step 2: Most of the organisations are having an ISA or TMG firewall to create web published rules for exchange services .In case if you have you need to check the rule created for outlook anywhere is properly configured or not.
    If you have such kind of firewall's ,You can test the OA rule by using the option test rule in ISA or TMG firewall .
    Most probably you can able to find out the exact cause with the help of EXRCA.
    Please reply me if you have any queries.

  • Make a Mac's Computer Name the Same as it's OD  Computer Record Name?

    I heard someone mention that its possible (at least in 10.5 server) to make a Mac's Computer name become exactly as its OD Computer Record name is (at the time of binding). I assume this would be a setting in Server Admin/OD or in WGM perhaps. I cant find the setting. Can you locate it for me?
    Im running a test Leopard OD master in Advanced mode on an Xserve Xeon.

    OK, let me give you a similar scenario regarding computer record names.
    I had previously setup OD to set computer names based the computer record name once the Macs were bound to OD.
    I decided later that that naming scheme will not work (I need the computer (host) name and the OD computer record name to be different for logisitical reasons - long story). I unbound my OD clients and trash all LDAP settings to start over from scratch. One problem:
    I cant for the life of me find that checkbox on my OD server to disable that setting. I have looked everywhere. I check WGM and Server Admin too. The post you made earlier doesn't look like the steps I took to setup the option to force the computer name from the record name. I simply checked a box. I also did enable authenticated binding either.
    I have a test OD lab right now. None of the servers and clients are in production, so I have the luxury of experimenting a little before we go live in Q1 2008.

  • Setting computer account name if multiple Macs?

    I recently purchased a new MacBook Air - yay! I had the old white MacBook and a 2009 iMac!).  Therein lies my question.
    I plan to still access those computers as I use some files infrequently but don't want to bring them over to my new pristine MacBook Air. I know when I'm off network I can't reach them as easily, but I do have LogMeIn so I can get to them in a pinch if I need to do so.
    Anyway, when I set up my other two over the years, I named them MynameMac and mynameMacBook so I wouldn't be confused on the network. But it's been so long I can't remember when to do that?  I'm at the setup screen of Create Computer Name - is that when I should do that?  Or can I have my Account Name  be one thing but designate a different name for when the computers are Home Sharing on the network?
    this is not referring to Apple ID accounts - I mean the actual Computer Account Name (home folder label etc.)
    thanks for your guidance.

    You need to pick a user account name now, which cannot be easily changed later. The computer name can be changed quite easily on the Sharing System Prefs pane.
