Hide emails from old email account

I have an email account from a school that i no longer attend. i would like to keep this email account in mail (because i want to occassionally look through the messages) but i don't want the messages to show up in my general inbox. In other words, i only want to see emails from this account when i click on this account -- not when I'm looking through my general inbox. Is this possible?

Transferring old email from old comcast account to new email with new comcast account

It sounds like you were given some bad information. What happens when you cancel service at an address is that the User ID/email address is suspended for 90 days. After that it is released back into the pool of available IDs for any other customer who wants it. You should have set up a transfer of the old ID to the new service address before you moved. However, you can call Comcast security and see if they can retrieve the ID and the emails for you------------------------------

How do I get my photos from old icloud account to new icloud account?

I had changed my email for my icloud account, but I was unable to change it on my phone. So I had to reset everything because it kept autopopulating my old icloud email. I had quite a bit of photos and I am unable to locate them. Is there a way I can retain my photos from my old icloud account to my new icloud account?

Can I migrate data from "old" user account to new user after clean install?

I've just done a clean install of Snow Leopard on a MacBook Pro (I erased system drive before install). I've upgraded SL to 10.6.2 using a generic administrator account. And I have an exact bootable clone of my old data (SuperDuper backup on external drive).
I don't care about migrating all my old software; I'll reinstall it. But I would like to migrate system preferences, mail accounts, iCal calendars, and keychains etc. And some silly part of me wants to REname my username. (Also: I can't use Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant because some part of the old image has Microsoft Entourage hooks in Mail and MobileMe that I want to get rid of.)
So here's my question: if I create a new account with the NEW user name I want to start using, can I STILL then copy over my old data? I don't know which of the below stuff has my old user name embedded in the data. Here's the list:
Your data in ~/Documents
~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder)
~/Library/Calendars (copy the whole folder)
Also in ~/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need)
~ /Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder)

what exactly do you mean by that? you can use Migration Assistant to migrate your user only (no applications). that should most likely suffice and i don't think Entourage will be a problem. you'll have to delete various entourage folders in your documents folder afterward if you don't plan on using it anymore.

yes, as bdmarsha said, your user name is not mentioned anywhere in your home directory.

Setting up Brand New iPad 2 - iTunes Sharing and Getting Files from old iTunes Account

Greetings. I recently purchased an iPad 2 (convert after 20 years of PC use) and have been waiting to set it up until I knew the proper way to proceed. I have multiple questions and am hoping those of you with more Apple experience can help out a convert .
I would like to set it up with a new iTunes account so when my wife gets her iPad 2 next year we can share apps and movies we buy on iTunes. Do you always have to sync your iPad to your PC to get your latest purchases or can you do that via the wireless connection directly on the iPad after the initial set-up?
That said, if one of us buys an app/movie, will we both have to carry it on our iPads or will they store remotely on iTunes or on our PCs? I'm just concerned about maxing out the storage space on the iPad. Do the purchases need to occur on your PC vs. the iPad itself for both to have the app/movie access?
I've also read about iCloud issues and syncing all calendar/contact/etc. accounts if two iPads are set-up with the same Apple ID. What's the best way to initially configure the iPads so that you avoid this headache in the future?
Once I get all this settled and get a new iTunes shared account working, is there any way to get the movies I have in both of our old iTunes accounts into the new shared iTunes account? Can I simply drop them on a jump drive from one PC and place them into an appropriate folder on the new PC that the iPad sync's to if it does in fact need to sync?
Again, appreciate all the help and sorry for all of the confusion and multiple thoughts. I would just like to set this thing up once and for all the right way.

1, you can (re-)download a lot of purchases directly on the iPad without having to connect to your computer - apps and ibooks can be re-downloaded (as long as they remain available), music can be re-downloaded in some countries; tv shows can currently only be re-downloaded in the US. Re-downloading
2, films are a one-time only download, so you can either download it on your computer's iTunes and sync it to your device(s), or if you download it directly on the iPad you will need to then copy it to your computer's iTunes (connect the iPad and do File > Transfer Purchases) so that you can make a backup and copy it to your other iPods, iPads etc.
3, I haven't had any problems with iCloud, but then I don't share my account so it's only my account and contacts on my iPad and iPhone.
4, you can authorise your old accounts on your computer's iTunes (Store > Authorise This Computer) and copy the films onto it : File > Add File To Library - you can't copy or transfer content to a different account (nor can you combine accounts), they will remain tied to the original account
The iPad's manual has some info about syncing and each of the built-in apps (the iBooks app is covered in the manual though it isn't pre-installed, but you can download it for free from the store) - the manual can be downloaded from here http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad

Music from old itunes account on ipod touch

I used to have an iphone and had my itunes account on it, where I made many purchases. I got rid of my iphone and didn't use my account for about 1-2 years. Now I have an ipod touch and have logged into my account but can not get my music. When I go on my laptop with my account I can see my purchase history, but it won't let me hear my music. Is there any way to get my purchases if I did not record it?

yes you are right. The customzing TC is OBBW. For your corresponding Recon. Account you have to asign the offset Account.
At month end you can then start the business transaction to re-classify Rec. A/P or A/R to the correct G/L Account with the mention parameter. So for your Balance Sheet reporting and for the reconcilation Sub/Ledger Main Ledeger it ok then.

After change of Facebook Account: Notification Central shows notifications from old FB Account

Hi there,
I changed the Facebook Account on my 10.8.3 iMac. When I post something through notification Central everything is right. But incomming notifications are from the previous account.
I removed all settings, shut my mac down and added everything new, but there are still the notifications from the previous account. Anyone an idea how I can fix this?

It's actually controlled in System Preferences - Mail/Contacts/Calendars. Locate the Facebook account there and remove it.

Basically I left the Apple ecosystem a year or so ago, I have recently purchased myself an iPhone 6 and decided I wanted a fresh start so decided to create another account.
The only problem is I still use the old email and if possible I'd like to close it on my old account and have it transferred to my new one, is this possible? I'm not too fussed about losing calendars or contacts as I successfully transferred those over.
So yeah, basically can I have my other email address moved over to the new account?

You cannot transfer your iTunes account to your iCloud account. However you can change its login to another non-Apple address. Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID. Where it says 'Apple ID and primary email address' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'. Enter your new address (which cannot be an Apple address) and click 'Save changes'. Now open iTunes and sign out; sign back in with the new login address.

Can't logout from old iCloud account.

Hello, I changed my email address associated with the apple account but for some reason my iCloud account still logged in with the old email address and I totally forgot the password to log out and it doesn't give me the option to delete the account. Email address doesn't exist anymore.
What can I do?

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

Cannot authorize music from old AOL accounts

I'm having a hard time authorizing old music from aol accounts. Every time I'm prompted to authorize the music, it tells me to change my account (which I've already done). What do I do?

I was having the same problem after just getting a new computer. I was communicating with an Apple representative via email which helped me realize that I never converted my AOL account, I only created a new Apple account so everything had been on 2 separate accounts on my old computer. After realizing this I clicked on a song I wanted to play and it prompted me to authorize the AOL account. From here it then prompted me to update my AOL to an Apple ID. I used a different email, because the other apple id I created used my aol email so it wouldn't let me convert to that id. Ok so this all went successfully and I left billing info and everything the same. I clicked to authorize under the new apple id and it said authorization successful, but it still wouldn't let me play the songs. I looked into my purchase history and the songs I was trying to play were in fact under that account. I was confused and stumbled on this thread of posts. I simply looked at the post saying to deauthorize and reauthorize, and it worked! So I don't really know what happened, but that simple step worked. Thanks!

Create ringtone from song from old iTunes account?

I transferred/merged my two iTunes accounts into one, and have had no problems all year. Now I want to create a ringtone but when I go to "Buy" it, iTunes tells me I cannot do it with a song I purchased under a different iTunes account (my former email address). Help! I bought the song years ago on iTunes, but now that I have a different account name, I cannot create a ringtone with that song?

I tried that first, but I cannot make a purchase while logged in under my old ID & password, I can only view/access my songs and look around in the store...

ICloud a disaster - due to moving from old .mac account?

A long time ago, I had a .mac account and email address. Then I didnt feel like paying for the yearly service, and I dropped it. But my id (which ends in "@mac.com" remained for itunes purchases and the like.
When icloud launched, I used this id to setup, but when I tried to use the same id (the part BEFORE the "@mac.com") I was told it was taken, and chose a new email address (ending in "@me.com"). it appeared to setup properly, then...nothing. checking the box for icloud email in prefs does nothing, trying to web login at icloud.com produces an error when trying to access mail (although other services work), And I can't get icloud mail on my mac nor my iphone. On the mac, it never sets up a mail.app account, and trying to add one manually gives all kinds of errors. On the iphone, the account seems to have been setup automatically, but when I launch mail I get the following error:
"Cannot Get Mail
The user name or password for 'iCloud' is incorrect."
Even though I have checked and rechecked my login and it works in the prefs (with checkmarks and all!)
This is one crappy rollout, nothing works. I don't know if it is related to my previously exisitng .mac account or what, but this should have been tested far better than it was. What a disaster.

After activatin iCloud, my dotMac account wouldn't retrieve mail anymore. It kept saying that my username or password were not good. No matter how many times I tried, I couldn't restore the service.
Here's how I got it working again.
Apparently my 6 letter password is no longer acceptable. You need to update it to an 8 letter password that includes numbers and capital letters.
So I went to https://iforgot.apple.com and asked to reset my password.
Because I could still get my emails logging into iCloud with Safari, I responded to Apple's email, and created a stronger password.
Than I updated the passwords on my computer's Mail program, iPhone, and iPad (and of course everything else, iTunes, etc.).
That was it!
Everything works as normal again, I even was finally able to synchronize calendars over different computers again.
Try it out, it could be your issue as well.
