is it possible to hide empty folders in a navigation iview. I tried it with an resource filter, but this way is very slowly.

sorry, I should read the answers
But this is no solution for our problem, too. We don't want to customize the permissions on our folders twice (documents and taxonomies). If in an folder in taxonomy the user don't have the permission to see one document, the folder should be hidden. So all permissions are customized on the folder structure in documents.
I hope, you understand my idea...

We manage a workspace that has both Internal external users. We have a requirements in a way that external users can only see some folders they have access to. What is the best way to accomplish.
I reviewed an article in "How to" section which describes how to use ACLS to hide some folders from certain users (https://beehiveonline.oracle.com/External_06_howto.html).
But this process is cumbersome as we need to go to exh folder and revoke permission for selected users. And also if we add any new folders to the workspace that folder will default be accessible to the external users also. We want by default any new folders do not have access to this group of users except the ones we provide access to.
How can we do it?

Microsoft probably do, since they are the people who developed Outlook. Have you asked them on their support site?
Alternatively, you can create IMAP folders in your iCloud email account at iCloud.com and they will show up in Outlook when the account is refreshed.

Hide ZPM folders in zenworks explorer window

I'm upgrading ZFD to ZCM 10.3.1 with the new functionality of ZPM. I have ZCM in test environment. I see that ZPM bundles folders are visible in the Zenworks explorer windows. Are there a solution to hide this folders?

Automator to hide/unhide folders?

i've been looking around for ways to show/hide hidden folders in finder and one way was to type this in terminal:
"defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE"
"killall Finder"
i wanted to know if i can add this as an automator action?
i think it should be a "run shell script" but i couldn't just paste it!

Make your life easy. Try either:
Show-Hide-Invisible-files
iShowHide.prefPane
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

Is it possible to hide desktop folders until needed

MacBookPro screen real estate limited. Folders and other junk on my desktop can be distracting on top of that.
Is it possible to hide them until I need them?

You can eliminate mounted volumes via Finder Preferences>General
You can reduce folder clutter by being neater!
But if you really want to hide everything on your Desktop, then download the free utility TinkerTool, and use this option:
To make the Desktop objects visible again, re-run TinkerTool and uncheck that box.

Can I hide certain folders from the 'tree view' under Site Manager - Pages?

In the above image, is there a way to hide the circled folders from the listing?
This will help in reducing confusion and possible breakages.

Can't hide Hidden folders and files.

Hi All,
This past weekend I transferred my OS and apps to a newly installed SSD drive.
During the process I had to move some files around in order to get The OS and Apps on the SSD.
I used a technique that utilizes the Terminal and the chflags command.
My issue is now I can not hide the files and folders that are usually hidden.
I can't remember the exact method I used to unhide hidden folders and files. I can't even find a reference to it in my web browsers history.
I have searched on the web for solutions along these lines:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -boolean FALSE ; killall Finder
chflags hidden
sudo chflags hidden
But none of these approaches have worked.
I have downloaded Onyx, TinkerTool and Show Hide Invisible Files.
I have used them as best I understand to hide the normally hidden files and folders, but nothing has worked.
Any Command Line gurus out there have any suggestions?

How to hide shared folders to some users...

Is there a way to hide the shared folders from users and only give them access to the dashboards to run the reports? We are using OBIEE 10G

if you remove read permission to the shared folder, you wont be able to see the dashboards associated with that folder. you can try using traverse folder option.
if you want that the user should only be able to see the dashboards then you can restrict access to answers and assign read permissions to the dashboards so that they cant modify dashboards.
to restrict the access to answers - goto administration>manage privileges>Access to Delivers
to assign read only permissions to dashboards goto administration>manage interactive dashboards and change permissions accordingly.
assign points if found helpful.

Can we Hide Measure Folders from a Read Only Session?

I have implemented security on my workspace by scoping the dimensions and hiding the cubes.It worked.
For hiding measure folders, i did similar to hiding of cubes, but it did not work. It threw an error message :
ERROR: (ORA-34706) ACCOUNT_BW.MEASUREFOLDER is not a valid XPRO_OLAP_NON_AGG.OLAP_NON_AGG!ALL_CUBES.
Iam cannot understand why the OLAP DML is checking a measurefolder in ALL_CUBES .
Can anyone help ?

Actually, their should be an easier way - my brain wasn't in full gear yesterday.
Select the file/folder(s) you want to make aliases for and then hold down the command and option key at the same time. Now drag the files/folders to where you want the aliases to be, and hey presto!
Slightly easier than the method I mentioned earlier

Hide some folders from the "Photo" gallery?

I use TrekBuddy, a navigation software. Trekbuddy stores map snippets on the phone, hundreds of little images in graphical format (JPEGs or PNGS).
When I go into "Photos", Under "All"I see thousands of pictures because the phone finds all the map snippets.
How can I hide the map snippets from the "Photo" galery?

Is there a way we can send a message to Nokia about this situation. It is really frustrating. I am very happy with the N8 in everything else, but have the same problem that the photo gallery gets fill up of the song/album images, I also have images for a lot of my contacts on my phone and it is frustrating to try to look for pictures in only one folder where I wish to have them. The other ones I would like to have a folder for contact images, songs, etc.
A lot of people suggest to use apps like folder hide and similar, but that is not the idea, that you have to mark and move the files and then additionally to input a password. Some people need to hide pictures, I only just don't what them to show on my normal gallery display.
Does Nokia read this posts on their forum ?
Will they ever follow users suggestions ?
This is a problem from long time ago, I had it with the with the Nokia nightmare phone N97 which is their worst phone ever. What a pity because they use to do them so well before. For example the N8 is very good, I would have gone for a 1 Ghz processor and some extra RAM, but who knows who is the crazy guy behind those decisions.
Hope we find a solution some day to this folder problem.

Hide Windows Folders from Finder on a Bootcamp System

Does anyone out there know how to "hide" a Windows folder from OSX's finder? My basic dilemma is that I have files in my "My Documents" folder on the Windows side of the house that I don't want Finder to be able to access. (They are inaccessible in Windows unless someone logs in with my account.) Does anyone know a nice way to do this that won't mess with how Windows sees the files? Thanks.

You could change the Finder flag and make it hidden. Afraid I don't have Windows installed, so not sure what, if anything, Windows would make of a Finder flag. Anyway, here's the Terminal command to make some something invisible to the Finder:
chflags hidden /path/to/folder/foldername
Hit Return after entering the command. Here's an example, where I made a folder named "links" on my Desktop invisible:
chflags hidden /Users/francine/Desktop/links
To reverse the process you would use "nohidden":
chflags nohidden /Users/francine/Desktop/links
It's easy to do, and easy to reverse. Whether it would work on something in the Windows file system without adding any confusion to Windows I don't know.

Hello,
Used iWeb 09 to create a website. Uploaded to FTP server and it is working fine.
How do I hide the folders where content is stored? Eg. Welcome.html has corresponding Welcome_files folder. But I don't want public visitors to be able to navigate to that folder and view its contents.

Navigating thru folders is a server issue (bad configuration), not an iWeb one.
Create a .htaccess file to hide the directory listing. Enter this code :
<directory />
Options -Indexes
</directory>

To show hidden files and folder, open a terminal and type:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
killall Finder
This will kill your Finder and reopen it (restart Finder) and now you will be able to see all hidden files and folder.
To hide (hidden folders and files), type the following in the terminal:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE
killall Finder
If you want to create a hidden file or folder since Mac OSX is a unix based OS, then just open a terminal and create a file/folder that has '.' at the beginning of its name. For example to create a hidden Secret folder in your Desktop, do the following:
Open Terminal
cd Desktop
mkdir .Secret
