Hide Preview?

Has anyone had difficulty with the "show preview" not actually taking the preview off in messaging? Thank you.

I find the absence of the ability to show or hide the Preview pane for an individual Mailbox THE most dangerous and missing feature of Apple Mail. It is totally impossible to block any message from opening in the Preview pane. The Preview pane is either visible or hidden for every Mailbox. If you enable the preview pane, you do this for every mailbox.
The danger lies in the a mailbox with spam. It is impossible to prevent an unwanted message form opening. It is even not possible to drag-select a message to drag it to the Junk box. Sometimes even dragging more then one message, which prevents showing a preview, 'looses' the messages, which result again in showing one of them.
Even if the risk of infecting the Mac is small, I don't want to see the message body (the header is more then enough).
This issue is around sinds the birth of Apple Mail, which makes me suspicious I am missing an option to prevent this (but the possibility to hide/show the preview pane on mailbox-base is a must (I think)).

• How to hide preview configurator summary page when launching configurator from iStore

Hi,
We have a requirement to hide preview configuration summary page in iStore whereas it should be visible when launching from other host applications.We tried doing it with help of usage functionality as below.
1) Create a usage with some name say “iStore” in configurator.
2) Take copy of summary with Status region template and add display condition to hide the summary region.
3) Take copy of the model active ui and attach the above template to it.
4) Publish the model with this new copy UI and usage as iStore to the host application.(There will be 2 publications one with this usage and other with normal)
5) Enable the profile CZ:Publication usage at application/responsibility levels for iStore.
With the above approach users are concerned that we need to maintain 2 User Interfaces in Configurator and each time any change has to be done both the user interfaces needs to be changes which will not be a feasible option in case of complex models.We would like to know if there is any other approach to hide this summary page from istore.
We are on R12.1.3 and are using fusion configurator engine.
Any suggestions on customizations/approach will be appreciated.

• Hide/Preview button for Notification Search Iview

I'm working on a Portal Appllication called NRX. It's used as Interface for SAP Plant Maintenance
There is an iview to search notifications in the R3
When I log in I can see two buttons in the upper right corner. Hide and Show Preview button
However, sometimes I log in and I can't see these buttons.
We believe this is a node configuration issue.
Can someone help me?

Hi Srini,
Thanks for the Immediate Response, I reviwed the Maetalink Note which you suggested, it was stated as:
Starting from ATG_PG.H.Rollup 4, an enhancement has been made to the Notification Details screen.
When the user viewing the notification has been granted the Workflow Administrator privilege (through the WF_ADMIN_ROLE preference), then the Reassign button will always be visible, even when the message attribute #HIDE_REASSIGN is set to Y.
This allows Administrators to reassign any notification when necessary in exception cases.
But in my case, the user do not have the Workflow Administrator privilege. He was not assigned with any workflow Admin Resps. Is there anything I am missing to check the WF_ADMIN_ROLE preference for a particular user?

• Add the Show Filters, Hide Preview and Refresh links from the UWL

I've searched the forum and was unable to find an answer to this question. In the UWL main screen, "Show Filters" and "Hide Previiew" appear in the right corner of the UWL iView (not in the tray, on the actual iView).
I would like to add "Refresh" link there as well. This doesn't appear to be handled in the iView properties or the XML file. We've done this before, but I can't seem to remember how.
Has anyone else done this?
Thanks!
CS

Hi,
At least you can add the refresh action there by modifying the view configuration XML. Check my answer in another thread:

• Toggle for hide preview on layer?

Does anyone know if it's possible to turn the preview of a layer on and off with a keystroke?
I mean like you do in the layers palette by command-clicking on the layer eye.
I am tracing a lot of photographs and it's getting a bit tedious having to endlessly click on the pallette.
Another thing; I seem to remember way back (Maybe Illie 3 or 5) that it was possible to preview selected objects only with a keystroke.
Can this still be done?

You can use F4 for layer outline mode and F5 for layer preview mode, for example.
Just record two actions, one that turns on layer outline mode and another one that turns it off. Then assign keyboard shortcuts to the actions, like F4 and F5.

• Hiding iMessage previews on the iPad 4?

So I'm trying to hide the previews of the messages that show up in the push notifications for privacy purposes.
The "Hide Previews" option isn't there when I go to Settings. So how is this done?

Nevermind, it seems they moved the option to the notifications area of settings.

• UWL - is it possible to hide tasks

Hi,
we have different tasks shown in the UWL in our portal.
But there are a view tasks (the EIC generates) which we want to hide. We already have these task-numbers (TSxxx) deleted from the XML-file (system configuration - Universal Worklist Configuration Content) but they are still visible. Any other ideas?
Regards,
Anja

Use personalization options to select the display options to be used for the standard Universal Worklist Display. These personalizing options allow you to create displays that hold only the worklist information that is relevant to you. You can either modify the display attributes of one of the default views, or create a separate custom view.
To create a custom list view, do the following:
1. Log in as an end-user
2. Navigate to Home ® Work
3. Choose the Personalize View link from the icon( ) next to the Hide Preview. The UWL Personalize View iView is displayed. You can either customize the current view or create an additional custom list view.
In the example, we will show you how to create an additional custom list view.
4.     Choose the Duplicate button.
2. Enter a name for the custom list view and choose Apply.
3. The new worklist display can be personalized using the personalization tools.
4. When your custom properties are complete, choose Save.
The new custom list name will appear as a new subcategory beneath the current top category in the worklist navigation.
To delete the custom worklist view, choose the Delete button.
Attributes and their sort orders
The list of currently displayed attributes is shown on tabs.
1. To remove an attribute tab from display, select the one you wish to remove and then choose the Remove From Current View button.
2. To add an attribute tab to the display, use the drop list menu (next to the Add button) to select an attribute tab and then choose Add.
3. To move the column position of an attribute tab, select the attribute tab and then move it left or right in the tab sequence using the left (<<) and right (>>) arrows until it is in the position you want.
4. For each selected attribute you can specify more detailed personalization such as:
Attribute Name
Horizontal Alignment
Width
Sorting properties
In this personalization section, you determine the order of task items displayed. In the first group box, the column with the highest sorting priority is selected. You can specify if you would like the sorting to be in ascending or descending order. Two more sorting columns can be added to sort within items of equal value in the previous sorting column.
Data Properties
You can specify:
The number of work items to be displayed on a page.
The automatic page refresh rate using the drop list menu.
The number of days before the due date when task item turns red, to indicate severe time concern.
The number of days before the due date when task item turns yellow, to indicate warning of due date.
Table Design Mode.
Select either Standard or Alternating
The names and characteristics of view filters that allow you to select or eliminate certain task items for display based on selection criteria, such as keywords within attributes.
Paging Display
You can specify:
Whether or not to display the page header.
Whether or not to display the page footer.
Result
Choose Save and your new personalized view will be available form the Universal Worklist.

• Title preview-get it back

I got sick of watching my title loop while I was working on it. I clicked the "X" to get rid of it. I can't seem to figure out a way to get it back. The "X" is "hide preview mode" but I can't find anything about "show preview mode."
Thanks!

Ben,
Just click on the name of the style of title you're using and you should go back into preview mode.

• Manage UWL action buttons

Hi experts,
I've customized the buttons that are displayed in the UWL. In the beginning i had only "Create task" button but after that i added "Manage substitution rules" and "Refresh" as buttons by changing uwl.standart.xml. The buttons are added successfully but now the refresh is shown not only as a button but as a link in the right side with the other two links "Show filters" "Hide preview". Is there any way to remain the button but remove the link of the refresh. I have to say that the other option "Manage substitution rules" is added only as a button but not as a link - this is exactly what i am expecting as a final result for the refresh. Here is the xml for refresh action:
<Action name="refresh" groupAction="yes" handler="UIActionHandler" referenceBundle="refresh" returnToDetailViewAllowed="yes" launchInNewWindow="SHOW_HEADERLESS_PORTAL">
<Properties>
<Property name="type" value="button"/>
<Property name="onClick" value="onForceRefresh"/>
<Property name="display_order_priority" value="uwlExcludeFromPreviewDetail"/>
</Properties>
</Action>
For comparison here is the Substitution manager action in the xml:
<Action name="launchSubstitutionManager" groupAction="yes" handler="SAPWebDynproLauncher" referenceBundle="SubstitutionManager" returnToDetailViewAllowed="yes" launchInNewWindow="yes" launchNewWindowName="Substitution" launchNewWindowFeatures="width=800,height=600,resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes,status=yes,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,directories=no">
<Properties>
<Property name="WebDynproApplication" value="UWLSubstitution"/>
<Property name="WebDynproDeployableObject" value="sap.com/tckmcbc.uwl.ui~wd_ui"/>
<Property name="DynamicParameter" value="uwlSessionId=${context.uwlSessionId}&configureGroup=${context.configureGroup}"/>
<Property name="System" value="SAP_LocalSystem"/>
<Property name="display_order_priority" value="uwlExcludeFromPreviewDetail"/>
</Properties>
</Action>
These actions are also added in the defaultView :
<View name="DefaultView" selectionMode="SINGLESELECT" width="98%" supportedItemTypes="uwl.task" columnOrder="subject, isEscalated, creatorId, createdDate, priority, attachmentCount, dueDate, status" sortby="priority:descend, dueDate:ascend, createdDate:descend" tableDesign="STANDARD" visibleRowCount="10" headerVisible="no" queryRange="undefined" tableNavigationFooterVisible="yes" tableNavigationType="CUSTOMNAV" actionRef="" refresh="300" dueDateSevere="86400000" dueDateWarning="259200000" emphasizedItems="new" displayOnlyDefinedAttributes="yes" dynamicCreationAllowed="yes" actionPosition="bottom" referenceBundle="tasks">
<DisplayAttributes>
<DisplayAttribute name="priority" type="string" width="10" sortable="yes" format="default" referenceBundle="priority" hAlign="LEFT" vAlign="BASELINE" maxTextWidth="0" headerVisible="yes">

Any suggestions will be very helpful.

Hi Teodor,
To remove the "Refresh" link from UWL find the effective UWL iView in Portal Content Administration, open its properties and see the property with name "List of UWL Actions to exclude". Once you find it put as a value the word "refresh" withouth the quotes. Use the "Preview" button to see the effect.

• Finder Right Hand Sidebar?

Somehow, I managed to press a random keyboard shortcut whilst looking for characters to type, but I've accidentally opened a sidebar on the right hand side of my Finder window. which shows the folder icon and some general information. I cannot figure out to save my life what this shortcut is and this sidebar is annoying me a little.
Now I've got the default sidebar on the left and this mini sidebar on the right. Can anyone tell me what this is for, and how I can remove it?
Thanks for the help!

Hi iMuffinMan,
Great question! It sounds like you have the preview sidebar enabled. To disable it, simply navigate to View > Hide Preview.

• ITunes Parental Controls

How do you revise parental controls when the options are grayed out?

Same problem here. There are nude apps and even one for sex positions that have the preview showing in the popular app section. My 9 year old kid can't download it but they can see an illustration of people having sex doggy style with a vivid description. This despite the fact the parental controls claim to hide previews for adult apps. What is wrong with my settings that this crap is still visible to my children?
