Hide Scratch with Skin or Sticker

Hello all!
I got a minor scratch on the top lid of my MacBook Air (carried it around carelessly in the first few days of purchase -- thinking that made from aluminum it would withstand external strains). Not wishing to observe the damage every time I close the lid of my MBA I decided to look for options to remedy it. The most feasible option (please let me know if I am wrong here) is to cover the scratch up with a skin.
Questions:
1) Has anyone tried the 3acp skins available at the eBay site? How do they compare to GelaSkins and to others?
2) Is there a vendor offering more business-style skins as opposed to all this artsy stuff which dazzles the eye and messes up the mind?
3) Is it possible to find (instead of a full-body skin) just a small silver sticker (say, something like the Apple logo stickers but smaller and in silver metallic color) that would cover up the scratch and look decently?

Abrasive to blend scratch/blemish:
OK. Now that I actually own a MacBook Air ! ( I am sooo happy ! ) (Guilty but happy) This is the laptop almost PDA that I have dreamed about for fifteen years !
Pardon me while I go outside now and run around the house three times because I am so happy . . .
OK, OK, OK, . . . the finish on the Air looks to be what is called "bead blasted". Basically sand blasted but using tinny glass beads that shatter, for the most part, when they hit the surface. Different "grit" size makes a coarser or finer finish. actual sand blasting makes a surface that is rougher and more stressed.
For "me hardies" who are going to get the surface refinished to blend in the blemish:
Auto engine shops use glass bead blasting to remove the burned-on scale from engine heads before repairing them (most are made of aluminum). I have first hand experience with sand and bead blasting.
Emphasize that you want the least amount of material removed possible. What we want is just a consistent look to the over all finish.
DO NO GO TO A HEADSTONE SUPPLIER ! The abrasive they use is way, way too coarse and they will blow holes right through the case of your computer.
Don't let the kid who's knuckles are dragging on the floor do this. Look for the top man in the shop to help you. Cold beer for the beer fridge is a good peace pipe at the end of the day. If they agree; expect to leave the computer shell (striped of parts) for a few days. Bug the 'ell out of them until they do it.
If you are in an artsy city then look for the glass etching studio (sand blasting) or similar work in aluminum. Maybe go to art galleries until you find aluminum with a similar finish and ask the gallery owner who the artist is. Peace offerings are many and varied here. Could be any thing from home grown organic vegetables to absinth or other unmentionable substances.

Mail's "Hide Related Messages" doesn't stick?

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and am now running into an issue that I haven't found any information on.
In Mail I often open up an email into a new window if I'll be referring to it often. With Mountain Lion it defaults this to the "Show Related Messages" view with that white message over the OSX grey background and all the related emails threaded below it. I don't want this. I go up to View -> "Hide Related Messages" and it goes away.... only to return when I restart Mail, restart my computer, log out/in, or even sometimes when I come back from screensaver or the dashboard. I can't for the life of me get this "Hide Related Messages" setting to stick.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Try Mail Preferences/Viewing/Include related messages (uncheck that box). I just upgraded to Mountain Lion and had roughly the same problem which I fixed this way. I prefer to have that as an icon on my toolbar, which you can add by going to the View menu, Customize toolbar, and drag the "show related messages" icon to the toolbar.

Change grid size together with the paths sticking to it

Hi! This is my first question in the Adobe forums!
I have made a simple score in my own music notation with the help of the grid in AI CS7. However, I set the wrong page size and now I have to everything over again. My question is: Can I fit thwe whole thing on an art board with a smaller size along with the grid? I want to keep everything but the size of the art board. So how do I change the grid ALONG with the objects and lines that are "stuck" to it? I hope my question is clear. Let me know if it isnt and I will clarify.

I think I fixed it. I will try later today to set the grid size the same as the width of the page and subdivide it this way. It would solve it if I could SET the artboard width to be anything: 1cm, 30cm, 100000 cm without changing the size of it.

As mentioned, the grid is a rather fluid thing, if it is the one I presume so you cannot rely on it for alignment and the like.

It is not necessary to delete your old wireless networks first, but doing so may eliminate confusion. If you wish to do that, open System Preferences > Network, and select Wi-Fi from the left column. Click the Advanced... button, then select your old wireless networks and delete them with the "–" (minus) button. Make sure the "Remember networks this computer has joined" remains checked.
OK then Apply.
This prevents your Mac from searching for your previous network which will no longer exist.
A new Express creates an open wireless network that you must select before you can configure it. It appears in your Wi-Fi menu like this:
Select it. AirPort Utility will load and walk you through its configuration.
Edit: If you are really using OS X 10.5.1 as shown in your profile, the above screenshot is not applicable. Instead, select the network called "Apple network nnnnnn" and then launch AirPort Utility.

Hide Series with no data

please your help with this issue.
I have 2D column chart with multi Series, is there any way to hide series without date.
i.e.. series depends on parameter i want to hide the Series if I did not enter the Series parameter.

Hi,
As far as I know, the "Hide items with no data" of slicer works for the values category in the pivot table. If the values category in the pivot table is empty, the slicer will hide the rows. And the other situations (we do not put the data in values
category), it'll not hide the rows. Because the rows are also the records of the data source. (It also applies to the table in Excel 2013)

Where was discussed about the af:selectManyChoice component. I'm currently using jdev 11.1.2, and I realised that none attribute was created in order to custom "All" label.
I wanna do this requirement with Skinning, but I didn't found how can I do this? Anyone can help me?

20" 2.66 - comes with 2 1GB sticks - not cool!

I am buying a new 2.66 GHz iMac and noticed that CRUCIAL has a 2GB stick for $49.99.... so I call APPLE only to find out the the iMac comes with two 1GB sticks which means I need to buy two 2GB sticks ($100).
First, is this true? Does the iMac come with both slots filled?
If so, I wonder why - this RAM is not required to be in pairs.
Also, this is frustrating because I will have useless RAM when I take out the two 1GB sticks.
Any thoughts or advice?
That is a GREAT price for Crucial RAM isn't it?

Some folks had to pull out 2 512MB modules to upgrade to 2GB and some 2 1GB modules to upgrade to 4GB.
Keep the spare module in a safe place, you never know when you might need it for testing or heaven forbid reinstalling it if the iMac had to go in for service!

Synchronizing files on multiple computers with 1 usb stick

i would like to synchroze a number of different files and folders on 2 or more machines with a usb stick. each folder exists normally only on 1 machine and the usb stick, so the stick should synchronize different folders when connected to different machines.
as an example; on computer 1 i have files a, b & c of which i would like to have a current backup version on the usb. on computer 2 i have files d and e.
so on the stick i have files a, b, c, d and e.
every time when the stick is used with computer 2, i want to synchronize files d and e only. every time when the stick is used with computer 1, it should synchronize files a, b and c only.
instead of installing just any synchronization software on every machine that i would use, i would prefer to have the program installed only on the usb stick and run it from there.
theoretically it whould then find its settings in ~/Library/Preferences where it will find settings specific for that machine (whether to synchronize files a, b and c or files d and e)
all machines i'd be using for this run various versions of os 10, but all 10.3.9 or later
so far theory - is there anyone who's done this? with how many machines? any experiences? things to do or to avoid?

Playlists can be exported and imported between iTunes setups. Not sure you can truly 'merge' the embedded meta-data in the IL file. Only what is stored within the song file itself.

How do I use AS3 to hide a playbar skin?

I would like to use an overlay skin on a flash project with an imported video. The video is taking up the entire window, so the skinAutoHide attribute does not work, because the mouse leaves the window before the skinAutoHide functionality kicks in. I found this code snippet that hides the playbar as soon as the mouse leves the window:

This solution works really well until I click the maximize window icon. Now the playbar is stuck in the visible state because the mouse no longer leaves the window. I've read about solutions that involve placing a pixel buffer around the video and enabling skinAutoHide, but this doesn't work if the user moves the mouse quickly off the window.
The same poster of the above code posted a second snippet, that was supposed to hide the skin after several seconds of mouse inactivity.

I do not get any compiler errors, but my screen is blank (and I did remeember to change the vpl.skin name to my skin name and name my instance vpl).
I do, however, get an output error: Error #2044: Unhandled skinError:. text=Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
If I can get this to work, I think it would be the best solution.

Lenovo 3000 n200 problem with usb tv-stick

hi guys,
i have a problem with my lenovo 3000 and the hvr-900 usb tv-stick from hauppauge. driver installation and software installation from wintv is no problem. finding the channels ist also no problem. sound is good but i have no pictures... the display ist black.
my grafik chip is the intel GMA X3100 onboard. i thought it was a problem with the overlay function. the wintv software shows me "surface vmr" on my old desktop with the old wintv pci card it shows me "surface overlay".
internet tv (tvu, tv ants...) works without any difficulties. but i can`t find a function to activate "overlay".
has anyone an idea? thanks for helping.

i try an older usb machine from hauppauge which supports analog only (the new stick supports analog/digital) and... it works... the wintv software shows me "surface overlay"... crazy...
now i use this until i find a solution for the stick ;-)

Problem with skin in a server

I've created a skin for my project.. It works fine in embedded OC4J server. But when I deployed it on JBOSS server, my buttons' icons don't show... by the way and tree components' icons are hidden,.. instead oracle provides the default ones instead.. Where could be the problem?

I have a problem with the skin for server side renderd buttons.
In my CSS file I have :

JPG files in project are in dir "public_html/skins/images".
In WAR file,the JPG files are in "/skins/images" directory.
Skin configuration is correct because other settings from CSS
file are functioning fine after deploying.
But buttons are standard browser buttons and are not taking the images i have used.
In document provided by Oracle it says:
(Note: These icons must be specified using either context-image or
resource-image icons. Text-based icons are not allowed.)
I am nt able to understand what this means?

The doc should say whether or not the width/height is a requirement. But since it doesn't mention it, try adding a width and height.
