Hide SIM contacts on Treo Pro???

I just got a Treo Pro and cannot figure out how to hide the SIM contacts after I sync. I used SIM manager to import all of my contacts so I can assign tones/pics, etc. and now I have duplicates in my contacts. Is there any way to hide the SIM contacts from the list? Thanks in advance from a newbie!

There is no setting to hide SIM contacts on the device. If this is something you do not want you would need to pick either the handheld or the SIM card and delete them from that location. Honestly I would keep them on the phone and sync them to Outlook where you can keep a back up there if you need to.

As stated in a previous post above, you will need to change Palm Desktop's sync settings to Microsoft Outlook.
The Treo Pro uses Microsoft Windows Mobile as its operating system, and is designed to sync with Outlook, and not Palm Desktop.
If you don't have a copy of Outlook on your computer, then it will have to be purchased.
There is a "switch" in Palm Desktop that will tell your old phone to start syncing with Outlook. Start Button/All Programs/Palm/PIM Conduit Sync/Sync with Outlook. Once you've activated this switch, all your data will migrate to Outlook, and the Pro will automagically find it there when you do your first ActiveSync.

Setting up Contacts "groups" or "distribution lists" on Treo Pro??

Is there any way to set up a "group" or "distribution list" on Treo Pro w/ Windows Mobile so that I can send a text message to a group rather than have to put in each phone number individually???

Windows Mobile devices doe not have this function at least out straight foward of the box, will require the use of a 3rd-party SMS application. PalmOS smartphones have an upping here with its templates folder but in your case you could try making SMS drafts and use those as a "group template."

Palm Treo Pro - suddenly lost Messaging email and SMS?

Currently travelling overseas and no probs first few days but then was in Port Isaac with "no signal" and switching carriers and lost messaging - emails, sms etc. I can make outgoing calls and receive them but can't receive SMS. I can access web for weather updates, Facebook etc. I have done a few few soft resets with no success although one time I got an error message about device.exe - not every time though. The messaging won't work either through the nominated button or through the menu item. I do get the "thinking" whirling ball for 10s while it tries but nothing starts. Has my device.exe become corrupted somehow - can I replace it or do I need a hard reset? Should I install 6.5 if that is the case - don't really want to lose all contacts etc
Any comments appreciated - it is driving me nuts!

It is strange if web browsing works but not email. Unlike SMS, email should be using the same data connection as web. Are you roaming with your provider's SIM card or are you using a local SIM card?
I generally get a device.exe error if I close a program and it doesn't close correctly, or very occasionally if a program crashes for some other reason. I don't think I've seen it during startup. I doubt that the file has become corrupted, although I suppose it's possible.
There is no (official) 6.5 update for the Treo Pro.

Cannot send email with Palm Treo Pro

Hi,
We have a Palm Treo Pro that was previously configured to sync with exchange 2003 and at the same time also had an IMAP email account setup for another email address. We have since removed the Exchange email account and only have the IMAP account configured. Since removing the exchange account we can no longer send email from the phone, but can receive fine. The error we get when trying to send is listed below.
"The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that you account information is correct then try sending again"
The connection is fine because we can receive email and browse fine. The account information is also correct. We are using the SMTP server settings for the phones provider and that requires no authentication. I have also tried a different SMTP server with the appropriate user credentials but still get that message.
I have contacted the phone provider (Telstra) but they were no use.
We did have to load on a self signed certificate to get the exchange email working and I dont know whether this is causing any issues.
If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated

Treo Pro locking on incoming call

My Treo has the habit on "locking buttons and screens" on incoming calls. If I don't answer quickly, nothing works anymore and the call is abandoned. Quickly means less then 10 seconds!
Is there a way to stop this from happening?
I've went through all settings, but nothing seems to prevent this from happening. I have the impression it's getting worse.

Be sure that your SIM card is updated for 3G, also that your network settings is been updated as well. The network settings is something you would need to talk to your carrier about. The term to use is called reprovision. Basically they remove your account from the network and add it back in with updated settings and if the setting where correct but it should resolve any other issue like if the settings were corrupted.
If you do not want to talk to your carrier or this does not resolve your issue the next step is to hard reset the device.

Treo Pro Text draft issue

When I get a text and open it, it creates a draft message just by opening it to read it, as if I chose reply instead of open. The second issue is I use the "cut through paging" for business calls(they choose option 2 from my VM and it sends their caller id or number they manually enter as a text to my phone, instead of getting a lot of VM's) and the weird thing is that if the caller is a contact in my phone(most are) it just shows their name and does not specify the number they want me to call. Even weirder, if I delete the message, I can go into the deleted message file and it does show the number and looks like texts looked on my previous Treo 800w in the inbox. Is there any fixes for this that anyone knows of for these issues? I did the update for the date issue and that worked fine. Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered.

Are you sync'ing the videos to the Treo or downloading them from the internet directly to the Treo?
Those file types should play Ok on the Treo.

Getting the caller id pictures to be larger on Treo Pro??

I have a palm treo pro, and i when i assign a picture to a contacts information, the picture will come up when they call, but it is also a quarter inch by a quarter inch big. Does anyone know how to change that and maybe make it a full screen picture or at least big enough to see. Thanks

Sorry, there isn't a way to change the picture size for caller ID by default. There are some 3rd party shell application that will do this.

No "Band" tab on Treo Pro settings

I just received an unlocked Treo Pro, bought in the USA, two days ago. Since then Ive been trying all the settings and just making sure everything works as it should, and everything does except for the fact that I can't manually turn off 3G as there is no "band" tab on the phone settings. Instead of the band tab I have a PIN tab. So my phone settings look like this: Services - Network -PIN/PIN2 (where the band tab should be) - ALS - Beacon - More. I've looked for a band tab pretty much everywhere on this phone but there isn't one.
So, yesterday I used the chat support and your representative told me to return the phone and get another one. Being that I'm not in the USA this is something I would do only if all else fails. However I was doing some research in other online forums and found out I'm not the only one with this problem and everyone else with this issue has an unlocked Treo Pro with software T850UNA -1.02-NAE and firmware 1.65.29.45. So, now I'm afraid to return the phone and then get a new one with the same firmware and same issue. I need to make a decision ASAP and really need to know if an older version of firmware can be installed or if something can be done to solve this problem, as being able to manually turn 3G on and off is a MUST for me and everyone I know can do so easily on their devices. I really don't want to have to return the phone, which for me means mailing it to another country, and everything else works perfect but I need to have a band tab! Please help me!

In my Registry, there is the following setting:
\HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\ShowUMTSBandPage
It currently is set to 0, which usually means "false". If this were set to 1, which usually means "true", that might fix the problem.
For comparison, ShowALSPage=1, ShowBEACONPage=1, and ShowPINPage=1, while ShowPIN2Page=0 and ShowNITZPage=0.

Email setup on Treo Pro

I live in Australia and use the carrier Telstra but there are no aussie support forums.
I have set up my email for my Internode Pop 3 account the same way I did for the old Palm Centro and as per instructions on the Palm site. The Palm Centro worked fine but I cannot get email with my Treo UNLESS I also have my wifi on and near an access point. Just trying to get it through the phone as I did with the Centro does not work as keep gettin g"error synchronising" as soon as I hit send/receive. I assume it is probably something simple I am doing wrong given that the actual settings work through wifi but Telstra are hopeless and really no one seems to know anything here about this particular model. I use WAP as my network as I did previously but not sure if I should be using another network eg My ISP? Realise many of you would have no experience with Telstra but any advice appreciated.

The Australian support number - depending on where you call from - is either continuously busy, or is 'out of service'.
Given that it's no longer listed on the Palm page, I'm going with the latter.
I tried contacting the US via live chat, but they absolutely refused to help me because I was supposed to be using Australian support options, so, yet again, no help.

I think downloads are saved in My Documents by default. However, Windows might save to the "last used" folder, if you changed the location on a previous download.
File Explorer will hide the .cab file extension for the GoogleMaps installer, but its icon should be similar to a document with a little box in front of it with the lid open.

Pairing my Palm Treo Pro with my car

I keep trying to pair my treo with my car (bluetooth) and it asks for a code - I have no code so press next - it then says I can't connect incorrect code, but my car system then gives me a code that I enter in - and it says I cannot connect, incorrect code!
I had this problem with my last Treo and then soemone else paired it for me as they had a code from an engineer which allows you then to enter the car code - does anyone know the code? I have tried 0000 and 1234 and 9999 - any suggestions?

As far as I know, Windows Mobile doesn't offer that. I think you will need two accounts set up. One will be sync'd with Outlook for Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks (Email would be optional here). The other would be a standard POP3 account to retrieve and send email in real time. Unfortunately, the Sent Items on that account will not be sync'd to Outlook

You can use the Wireless/Connection Manager to turn different radios (CDMA, wi-fi) on and off. If you tap the connection icon at the top of the home screen, you can access it from there. Began experiencing device.exe crash about 1-2 minutes after soft reset [after installing old 3.x beta of Skype app]. Also could not turn on BT or Wifi after installation completed or after soft resets. Both symptoms continued after uninstalling both the Skype app and the fenec browser.
Executed full sync of device and performed a hard reset. I have performed several hard resets to see if that would work and no luck.
The hang is occuring roughly half-way through eboot(?) load of WinMo image from flash (screen with out-of focus lights and progress bar).
Note that I did not purchase a SIM card with the Treo - so slot is empty. I also installed a 16GB transflash that was working A-OK - have removed it until I can get device to boot again.
My experience with developing CE (5/6) images with Platform Builder tells me I may have a corrupted ROM image (or worse - faulty flash block/hardware). Is there a way to obtain and reflash the treo pro (850UEU unlocked ROM image to make sure this isn't a HW issue (without going to third(?)-party images/flashing utilities)?
I purchased the unit recently as an open-box from TigerDirect - several of the qwerty keypad buttons do not work (including power button and wifi button) - shouldn't be interfering with this stage of boot, though...
Any help you can provide in solving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Natively it does not support multiple calendar folders. There is a 3rd party program that will synchronize multiple Outlook Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks folders with the corresponding Pocket Outlook applications on the handheld.

Bluetooth Connectivity Issues on Unlcked GSM Treo Pro with OEM Mercedes Car Kit-2009 Model Year-E Series

Previously I had my Unlocked GSM Treo Pro connected to my 2009 Mrcedes E550 using bluetooth and had full functionality for phone and address book. Recently I received a replacement Treo Pro device from Palm under a warranty replacement due to a frozen touchscreeen and have had difficulties connecting the new device to this vehicle. I have troubleshooted thoroughly and have been able to connect my phone to other cars and other bluetooth devices and also have been able to connect other phones to my car, which has isolated that the issue is the connection between my Palm device and my car's bluetooth. The device is connecting intially to my car, but then the connections alternates continuously between being connected and searching for a connection-making it unusable. I have already installed the Treo 850 patch TreoProBTpatch.CAB to this new device and it has not resolved the issue. Please advise if there is any explanation why I was able to get my prior device to connect and am not able to get the same model replacement device to do so. I have visited the dealership to review and after being unsuccessful in connecting they recommended I contact Palm.
