Hide the Acrobat Reader Menu Bar

For my Livecycle Designer ES document, I only want the Acrobat Reader end users to use my buttons (SAVE, PRINT, EXIT) rather than the Acrobat Reader Menu Bar to access the same functions. My buttons contain various java scripts that are necessary for form completion. If they bypass these buttons using the Acrobat Reader Menu Bar (example: File, Print), then the form will not capture the data properly.
Is there a way to hide the Acrobat Reader Menu bar for my specific form through a built in function in Livecycle ES or is there a java script that can be used to hide the Reader Menu Bar?
Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric,
I am fairly sure that you cannot access the presence of the Menu Bar. I have tried here but can't get it to work.
An alternative would be to open the form full screen. When you do this the cursor changes into a click advance (to next page), but you can also turn this off.
An example is here: https://acrobat.com/#d=JK2I24ZgmsvMr6BtCQNMOg
I appreciate that the user can elect not to go into full screen or can escape out of it, but it is a rough workaround.
The following in the docReady event should work:
app.execMenuItem("FullScreen");
app.fs.clickAdvances = false;
Good luck,
Niall

  • Looking for a way to hide/collapse the display of menu bar items

    I've searched the web but I cannot find any utilities that would allow me to hide the items on my menu bar, which is getting a bit cluttered. Particularly when some programs are running, if those programs have a certain number of drop down menus, the menus on the right hand side overlay some of the left side menu bar icons. It would be nice to be able to collapse & un-collapse the menu bar icons when desired.
    Not really a problem on my PowerMac which has a 23" display, but moreso on my 15" MBP.

    As an aside; if you need to keep several apps fairly close to hand without cluttering the menu bar or dock, create a folder within your Applications folder, and place aliases of the apps in there, then drag the folder to the dock below the divider (next to the trash). Right click on the folder in the dock to get a pop-up list to choose from. I use the same idea for frequently used files and games too (seperate folders)

  • How to hide the main window menu ?

    Hi, Im developing a Java app that has an horizontal menu bar,which has the option to exit the program . So I want to hide, or get rid of the main window menu bar, the one that has the close, minimize and maximize buttons..is it possible ?
    Thanks in advance :)

    from java.awt.Frame api
    A frame may have its native decorations (i.e. Frame and Titlebar)
    turned off with setUndecorated. This can only be done while the
    frame is not displayable.

  • When I print to PDF using Acrobat 11 Pro from any application the acrobat Reader does not launch automatically. Associations are correct. Thx for your help,  Bruce

    When I print to PDF using Acrobat 11 Pro from any application the acrobat Reader does not launch automatically. Associations are correct. Happens from Chrome, IE, Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Previously had deskPDF installed but uninstalled correctly. Can't find a preference setting for the auto launch. Thx for your help,  Bruce

    A simple way is to flatten the form fields, which converts the field appearances to regular page contents. You can do this with JavaScript or PDF Optimizer (Advanced > PDF Optimizer > Discard Objects > Flatten form fields). A very nice script that adds a custom menu item can be found here: http://www.uvsar.com/projects/acrobat/flattener/

  • When downloading pdf files the acrobat reader is not in the group of "Choose Helper Application" programs.

    No matter what I try I can never get the Acrobat Reader to be added to the group of "Choose Helper Application" programs available in that window when downloading a pdf. I always have to browse to the Acrobat reader and select it that way.
    I have enabled Acrobat in the add-ons manager, but that has not solved the problem.
    In the options > applications menu I've selected use Acrobat Reader for pdf files but that doesn't work and furthermore doesn't seem to stick. That is, sometimes when I check that menu later the selection has reverted to "always ask".
    I'm using Firefox 32 on Windows 7. I have used Firefox on XP for years and never had this problem.

    Here are some screen shots to backup my claims.

  • How do I see the multi-task menu bar?

    I am trying to find a way to stop the app "Magellan Road Mate" when I am finished. Seems simple, however, there is no provision for turning the app off. Magellan says to go tap and hold the icon in the multi-task menu bar until a - sign appears then tap the minus sign and that will turn the app off. Being among the technically "near illiterate", I can't seem to find the "Multi-Task Menu Bar".
    Can anyone help me out? Any direction will be appreciated. It is embarrasing to be walking through a lobby in a hotel and suddenly your hip speaks...."recalculating route..."

    Get back to the Home screen, double tap the Home button and the icons along the bottom will turn into the multitasking bar. Tap and hold one of these till they wiggle with a minus button on them. You an scroll sideways to find the apps you wish to close. Press the Home button once to remove the button then once again to return to the Home screen.
    If you have an Apps running when you double tap it will not appear in the multitask bar till you exit to the home screen or change apps.

  • Are plugins able to create graphical controls children to the Acrobat/Reader application?

    Hello,
    in the documentation I read
      Acrobat Viewer layer
    The Acrobat Viewer (AV) layer enables plug-ins to control Acrobat and modify its user interface. Using AV methods, you can, for example, add menus and menu commands, add buttons to toolbars, open and close files, display simple dialog boxes, and perform many other application-level tasks.
    I ask if it is possible that a plugin creates a graphical control like others applications can usually do and put it as a legitimate child of the Acrobat/Reader application, for example over a pdf page, and get events and so on.
    Thanks in advance

    Sure.

  • Can I move an external hard disk off the finder window, to the Dock or menu bar, for instance?

    I use a couple of external hard disks, one with Time Machine for every day back-ups and another for occasional back-ups of large work files and videos I have purchased. It bothers me to see them sitting up there in the top right hand corner of my screen. Can I move them permanently somewhere else, into the Dock or Menu Bar say, and still have them permanently available?

    Yes.
    You can drag the drive icon from the desktop into the Dock.
    Then you can go to Finder > Preferences > General > Show these items on the desktop > uncheck External disks, and it should stay in the dock but not show on the desktop.
    There are third party apps that will give you Finder-like access to things in your Menu Bar, like  Download XMenu for Mac - Menubar item lists/launches apps, and more. MacUpdate.com  , but I would avoid third party GUI-changing apps like this if I were you, as they tend to be problematic, and install background processes which slow down your mac.

  • I have a new MacBook(2012). Being a new Mac user, I do not know what to do when Safari doesn't open at all. The icon just bounces up and down and when the cursor is on the top main menu bar it is the spinning rainbow wheel.  Any ideas for help?

    When I try to open safari the icon stats bouncing and then nothing happens other than the cursor turning to a spinning rainbow wheel when it hoovers on the top main menu bar. I have shut down and restart several times. My safari worked yesterday and then today this, but with. I indication of a problem. I can't even get the browser window to open so that I can clear caches or reset anything. When I opened my computer this time I don't even get a bouncing icon. No recognition of selecting the program at all. If I go to spotlight and try to open safari from here I still get no response. Can you help?

    Hi ...
    If you have moved the Safari application from the Applications folder, move it back.
    As far as the cache goes, there's a work around for that when you can't empty the Safari cache from the menu bar.
    Go to    ~/Library/Caches/com.aple.Safari.Cache.db.  Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
    Try Safari.
    Mac OS X (10.7.2)   <  from your profile
    If that is corrrect, you need to update your system software. Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Software
    Update ...
    ~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.
    For Lion v10.7x:  To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library

  • How to Print a PDF file and Close the ACrobat Reader opened using WEBUTIL

    Hi All,
    I have used WEBUTIL successfully and printed files using webutil_host.nonblocking builtin. What happens is that after printing the file the Acrobat reader stays on the desktop of the client PC. How to close that file opened programmatically. I am unable to close it using any any commands or using following builtins from WEBUTIL.
      WEBUTIL_HOST.RELEASE_PROCESS(PROCESS_ID)
      WEBUTIL_HOST.TERMINATE_PROCESS(PROCESS_ID);My command to directly call the Acrobat reader file and print it is by using this command.
      M_STR_COMMAND    := 'cmd.exe /c start AcroRd32.exe /t '||CHR(34)||FILE_STR_PATH||'\'||FILE_NAME||CHR(34)||' '||CHR(34)||PRINTER_NAME||CHR(34);Help in this regard is much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    I think if you use the start-command, the execution is asynchronously and you won't get the correct process-id. Try to execute Acorbat directly without the cmd /c start in front of it.

  • Help:  How to add a library item to hide the default Window menu

    Hi,
    In this post: Help: How to add a library item to hide the default Window menu, it described how to create an menu that will hide the default window menu.
    I'd like to know if there a way to put this component into library so that others can directly inherit this menu in other FORMS and how to implement it.
    Jimmy

    Hi,
    I found the solution and the post was not properly phrased. There is no need to add menu into library. All we need is to put the compiled menu into Oracle AS and add the menu name the menu module of the given form.
    Thanks.

  • How to automate the Acrobat Reader plugin in Internet Explorer

    Hi,
    I have been trying to figure out how to automate the Acrobat Reader plugin in Internet Explorer. My goal is to find a way to allow users of our web application to print PDFs to the default printer without having to go through the plugin's GUI. Our application includes a browser helper component, and I had hoped it would be possible to use the IWebBrowser2 interface's get_Document() method to get at some sort of interface to the plugin (as is possible for, say, a Word document hosted in Internet Explorer) and then use this to print the document. However, this does not work: get_Document(), when called on an IWebBrowser2 instance with a PDF loaded, returns E_NOINTERFACE. I also tried calling the IWebBrowser2 interface's ExecWB() method with OLECMDID_PRINT, OLECMDEXECOPT_DONTPROMPTUSER, and PRINT_DONTBOTHERUSER, and printed a blank page rather than the PDF.
    Is it possible to do what I am attempting? Like I said, my core goal is to print a PDF from within Internet Explorer without requiring user interaction. I'd appreciate any suggestions as to how I might accomplish this -- it doesn't _have_ to be by automating the plugin (maybe that is a the wrong approach... though it sure would be nice if the plugin provided access to its object model via IWebBrowser2->get_Document()).

    IF that were entirely true, then the whole purpose of this thread is moot (automating printing server side). It is possible to load the file via URLs using the following html code:
    "<"body>
    "<"OBJECT id="pdf"
    type="application/pdf"
    width=800
    height=600 >
    "<"param name="src" value="http://localhost/pdfs/vorder_nc.pdf"/>
    "<"/OBJECT>
    "<"script language="JavaScript">
    function waitLoad()
    setTimeout("printFile()",2000);
    function printFile()
    var objPdf = document.getElementById('pdf');
    objPdf.PrintAllFit(1);
    "<"/script>
    "<"/body>
    So, if I used php or some other scripting language on the server to fill in the name of the pdf, I can load it via a URL, wait a couple of seconds for it to load, and then print it without user interaction. I wish that the LoadFile method would load a URL so that when it returns, I know it is loaded and I don't have to put faith in a timer that may not be enough for a large file.
    This is the situation I'm in. This way works but I don't like the timer. I'd rather have the plugin let me know when it's loaded. Is there another method that can help me do what I want?
    Thank again.

  • Is it possible to customise the tab/address/menu bar positions? I dislike the default position changes.

    Similar to MS Office, one can position all the menu bars in any order, top down or sideways as required. I find that with ver 4, the tabs on the top line , the search, home buttons etc are not intuitive and are quite annoying with their positional changes.

    You can still use/see the Menu Bar (''File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help'') if you prefer it:
    *'''Temporarily display the Menu Bar''': press the ALT key or the F10 key and make your selections from the temporarily displayed Menu Bar
    *'''Toggle between the Menu Bar and Firefox button'''. Do one of the following:
    **NOTE:
    ***Menu Bar '''checked''' = Menu Bar on, Firefox button off
    ***Menu Bar '''un-checked''' = Menu Bar off, Firefox button on
    **keyboard shortcut: HOLD the ALT key while pressing the letters VTM on your keyboard
    **Using the Menu Bar: click View > Toolbars, click Menu Bar
    **Using the Firefox Button: click Firefox Button > Options, click Menu Bar
    **right-click on an empty space in one of the toolbars, click Menu Bar

    Hi SUBRAMANIAN,
    Are you still facing this issue? It seems to be conflict to me.
    Are you using any third party plugins with Acrobat? Try disabling and to use it again.
