The file userChrome.css doesn't exist by default and needs to be in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder. 
You need to create a chrome folder in the Firefox Profile Folder if that folder doesn't exist

Well, It's just like it says in the question title. I don't want to see the add-on bar at the bottom (or at all, for that matter), but I want to keep my add-ons. Every time I open Firefox, there it is, and I right click and uncheck the "add-on bar" option. But it keeps showing up every time I restart Firefox. How can I make it stop reappearing?

In order to switch to another persona that you had previously installed, do the following:

Last version did the same thing. Open the browser and add-on bar comes on. Close add-on bar and open the browser again and the add-on bar comes on again. Don't want the add-on bar. How to get rid of it? Don't refer me to faq's, done all of that.

Add-on bar doesn't stay off when you turn it off. The browser doesn't remember when I turn it off. Removing the icons doesn't help, they aren't all removable

I'm having trouble with the add-on bar. After using Chrome for so long, having something on the bottom of the screen taking up space is unsettling for me. I always turn off the add-on bar because I put all my add-on icons next to the location bar like in Chrome, but whenever I close and restart Firefox the add-on bar will always reappear. Is there any way I can keep it from reappearing? I'm using Firefox 5. It's a minor annoyance because 2 clicks will get rid of it, but I'd rather not have to do that anyway.

How do i hide/remove the text above the add-on bar (I guess its the information when you surf) I find it annoying or can I add/move TO the add-on bar so its not so annoying/intrusive?

When you move from site to site, or page to page you get information on the bottom of the browser above the addon bar (if the addon bar is visible) - Id like to remove or hide or move it TO the addon bar instead of being in the main browser window. CAN i do that, and if so - how? I find this text annoying esp since it has a light background and the page you are on has a dark page so its very noticeable/distracting.

You can use the Status-4-Evar extension to replace some functionality that was lost withthe removal of the Status bar in Firefox 4.
Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" after you have installed the Status-4-Evar extension and drag the items (Status Text, Progress Meter, Download Status) upon the Add-ons Bar (View > Toolbars > [X] Add-on Bar)

There is no "add tab or + tab" and no "list all tabs" button. I'm also missing the add-on bar that is supposed to be at the bottom. I'd love to try all the features but it's hard to do without these options.

My McAfee SiteAdvisor add-on is activated in the Tool-Add-on menu but doesn't appear in the Add-on Bar.

My McAfee SiteAdvisors is activated but doesnt show in the add-on bar. I double checked the situation under « Tool, Add-on, Extensions » and the add-on is enable. Also the « Add-on bar » is activated.The green McAfee SiteAdvisor button dissapeared after firefox update 16.02. I updated to 17 in case it would resolve the problem with no success. McAfee is still working by giving a warning page if I try to go on a suspiscious site.
Also in google search result I no longer get the little McAfee evaluation icones.

I can't delete add on bar. I can only temporarly hide it. When I close the browser, then come back and open browser later, the add on bar is back again. This started right after version 11 ato uploaded to my PC. I use Windows XP, Service Pack 3.

Thank you. I have been using the Fox die (Graphite) 10.3 theme for about 4 years. In all previous versions of Firefox, had no problem. When I customized the settings, Firefox remembered these settings. I like to run browser with the absolute minimum of bars, so that I have maximum view of web pages.I have had no recent add on's in over a year. When Firefox uploaded automatically recently, that's when this problem started. Now it takes 4 clicks every time I log on to Firefox to delete add on bar. Firefox won't remember the previous setting. What you are seeing is how Safari works now in iOS 5. There is no way to get that icon in Safari now. There other much better browsers available in the App Store. Look at iCab Mobile, Mercury, Atomic, ....

I added extension: Print Friendly initial rev72.1 & Print/Print Preview 0.9 but they don't appear on the add on bar. How can I use these two?

My OS is Windows 7 and I recently upgraded to Firefox 23.0.1 and then installed the extensions: Print/Print Preview 0.9 and Printfriendly initial rev 72.1. When I go to the add on manager they are listed and not disabled. Under Toolbars, the following are selected: Menu Bar, Navigation Tool Bar, Bookmarks Tool Bar, Add-On-Bar. I don't see any of my Extensions on the Add-On-Bar. At the bottom left of the browser window appears an "x" for closing the Add-On-Bar. There is nothing else showing.

Print/Print Preview uses and appends to the default Print button that comes with Firefox. If you don't have that button, use the '''Restore Default Set''' button in the lower-right corner of the Palette.
As far as Print Friendly, the AMO download page says that button is placed on the Add-on Bar by default. If it isn't there maybe "Restore ...." will fix it, and if not I would suspect a compatibility issue.
Beyond that I can't help you, as I use the Print Edit extension which works fine with Print/Print Preview . I don't like Print Friendly due that extension using their website instead of doing the "editing" within the users browser. Potential security issues for me.

Right-click the "+" tab and deselect the Add-on Bar entry tick. The Add-on Bar should then disappear for the remainder of the session but will reappear when you restart Firefox. If you want to permanently remove the Add-on Bar then a different approach must be used, using a modified userChrome.css file.

Using the instructions posted, I am not able to customize the add-on bar. I cannot move or remove the elements there.

I went to the instructions about how to customize the add-on bar. These were basically the same as for the other bars which appear on the top of the browser which I've done many times before. I wanted to move some items to the left of the bar and I wanted to remove some items. I was not able to do either of these things. The icon which is the moveable hand would not appear when mousing over the elements on the bar. I was able to add and remove a separator element but it would place only to the left of all the elements. I was not able to place it in any other spot.

Some (possible) bug reports have been filed on the inability to rearrange all of the icons on the Add-on Bar. There may be some involvement of other add-ons causing that problem, but that is yet to be determined.
I have not tried the latest version or Organize Status Bar (OSB) that '''silkphoenix''' pointed to in the post above. The note on that page indicates that the only update was changing the <max-version> to 4.0. I had already done that in the previous version of OSB that I have installed and doing just that did not solve the problem. In my case, some of the add-on icons are grouped together with a gray background in Customize mode and those seem unmovable.
To move items to the left, you can try inserting Flexible spaces (or spaces) from the Customize palette.

Installed: Firefox 27. ReminderFox 2.1.4. Windows XP Professional
Since ReminderFox 2.1.4 was installed, I have deselected the 'Status/Add-on Bar Display 'Bow' and text on status bar' numerous times, but the setting never takes effect even after pressing the Apply and OK buttons.
The Add-on Bar, which has always been deselected from the View > Toolbars menu, shows as selected in the menu, and even though I deselect it manually, when I close Firefox and then reopen it, it shows again as selected in the menu.
