Hide the white space behind active content when first loads.

Hello,
Is there an elegant way to mask the 'hole' in a website where
it is waiting momentarily before it loads active content? I have a
Flash video player on a site against a dark background. But when
the page loads, the area for the video is bright white while the
rest of the screen is dark. It's mostly an aesthetic thing, but if
there's a way to tame it I'd like to try.
Thanks,
Tom

Here's what I had in a sample page I made. You can see where
I added that code at the end of that big, long, ugly list of
parameters being fed to the AC_FL_RunContent() function.
<body>
<script type="text/javascript">
AC_FL_RunContent( 'codebase','

'flashvars','&MM_ComponentVersion=1&skinName=Halo_Skin_3&streamName=Classic&autoPlay=false &autoRewind=false',
'quality','high','scale','noscale','name','FLVPlayer','salign','lt','pluginspage','

  • Get rid of the white space at the top and bottom of the report when Printing as PDF document

    Hello All,
    I have a wider tablix report which is 29 inches wide. I have given the paper size as custom and width as 29 and height as 11 in report properties.I have deployed it and saved it as PDF document. When I print preview the report I am using the paper size as
    tabloid (17 by 11) and selected the orientation as Landscape. I am getting the full report without any stripping but I am getting some extra space at the top and bottom when I print the report. Can anyone help me how to get rid of this space? . I checked the
    margins for the report and it was 0in. Please help.
    Thank You

    Hi There
    In Reporting Services (SSRS 2008), there are white spaces preserved in the report body by default. When the white space extends the body size beyond the width of the report, blank pages will be generated. To avoid the issue, you can set the “ConsumeContainerWhiteSpace”
    property of the report to “True”.
    Please try to adjust your margins (top + side) and hopefully this problem will get resolved
    Body Width <= Page Width - (Left Margin + Right Margin)
    Horizontal usable area:
    X = Page.Width - (Left Margin + Right Margin + Column Spacing)
    Vertical usable area:
    Y = Page.Height - (Top Margin + Bottom Margin + Header Height + Footer Height)
    Body Width <= Page Width - (Left Margin + Right Margin)
    Horizontal usable area:
    X = Page.Width - (Left Margin + Right Margin + Column Spacing)
    Vertical usable area:
    Y = Page.Height - (Top Margin + Bottom Margin + Header Height + Footer Height)
    If you have any questions please ask.

  • How do I remove the white space from the bottom and side of my document?

    How do I remove the white space from the bottom and side of my document? (I'm not talking about printing, just viewing it on the screen.) There are about 6 inches of white space at the bottom and at the right hand side. I don't like this. On a blank new spreadsheet it's triple that amount of white space.

    The infinite canvas convention doesn't make a lot of sense for Numbers. When I'm viewing a spreadsheet and mistakenly scroll into white, empty space I think, "this is ridiculous - all of my content is fits on one screen. there's nothing over there."
    A (relatively) infinite canvas is logical for Microsft Excel because it's one big table. There are 256(?) columns by default and hundreds of rows on a sheet - there are cells outside what a user is looking at to see. However, when viewing a Numbers spreadsheet with a single 10 column 10 row table that fits on the screen, there's nothing else on it to scroll to.
    Numbers should distinguish between viewing a spreadsheet and editing one. When I'm just viewing, when there's no content outside the window it shouldn't scroll there. This window behavior is beyond annoying for Numbers on my iPad and iPhone.
    (Adding user-defined canvas size setting to my view mode / edit mode thinking would probably be the most complete solution to this now that I think about it.)
    Until now the way scrolling worked in Numbers has defied logic. Actually it still does lol. That said, thank you Yellowbox for providing a clear explanation. Much appreciated.

  • White space issues between content and footer.

    I am having white space/page length issue between the end of my content and the footer.
    I have read the forums and tried changing the page length minium height to 800 and then I
    unchecked the sticky footer in page properties on both the master page and the content page itself.
    Here's a link to one of my pages.  http://www.ueonline.com/rohs-info.html
    This page has very little content and you can see the white space.
    Any help is appreciated.

    This may be a little dated for a reply, and I'm not 100% sure your issue is the same as mine, but I discovered that unchecking the sticky footer option in site properties solved the problem. I should note that the website I was building for a client was über simple, and while disabling that function solved the headache in my own project, it may incur unwanted results in others, depending on the complexity.

  • Weird rectangular box replaced the white-space for san serif

    I opened up a pdf that used to have a normal san serif text, but now, it has little square boxes for every spacebar spaces. The text comes out good but it's the white spaces that come up in square characters. Most other fonts don't do this but some other ones do this as well. Here is a picture of it:
    http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss186/johnclee90/1212.jpg
    please help me.

    I meant to say InDesign and not pdf. The pdf output of the indesign long ago does not have any square boxes but if I try to export the same indesign into pdf, it has the square things showing up on the pdf as well.  Anyways, the sansserif might have already existed, but my actual use of the sanserif came along with an already made CS2 template (I have CS3)from my instructor which was using the font. Everything was fine and normal (as in no square boxes) until recently when I opened the file again.
    I checked the font folders in my windows system, and it has SansSerif, SansSerif Bold, SansSerif Bold Oblique, and SansSerif Oblique in truetype font just like any other font files in there.
    Also this is the original CS2 template that I work on from. When I first opened this a while ago, it didn't have the weird boxes.
    http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss186/johnclee90/111.jpg
    could it be that I've installed new fonts to my system since that time?

  • How do i either colorize, or remove, the white spaces?

    This is my first web site design and I am using the CSS style twoColLiqRtHdr. I have changed the background color to every division but a white space remains around and below my left hand / main content column. I presume this has to do with the 'liquid' element of the style - and I even figured out how to fix the problem below my RH column but I am at an impass regarding the left side....

    Nancy - thanks for getting back to me. I am in flux as my domain name is in the process of being transferred, as we speak, and therefore I cannot provide a URL at this time. My background color is solid, and is the same, for every division.I assumed that there was some simple, standard way to 'stretch' the left column so it snugged up to everything else which I just was not seeing... AS you may have guessed from my e-mail address I am a photographer by trade - not a web master!  I will take a look at the demo that you provided the link to.  Maine-ah

    For best results in this forum, please provide us with a URL to your test site so we can see what you see. The answers are in your CSS and HTML code.
    Based on what little info you've provided, I'm guessing you're grappling with how to achieve equal height columns with CSS.
    DEMO of  2-col CSS layout
    http://alt-web.com/TEMPLATES/2-col-fixed-layout.shtml
    If you add a 2-toned, repeating background image to your #wrapper, you can create the illusion of equal height columns. This technique is called Faux Columns.

    In the mainstyle.css file, change...

    margin-top: 0px;
    padding: 0px;
    margin-right: auto;

    Acrobat X: Anyone know if there is an option to hide the dotted line in between pages when viewing in 2 page view?  So that the 2 pages can look seemlessly joined, with no gap and no dotted line?  This would be useful when viewing PDF magazines or books in which 2 pages join for a larger picture.

    Create a Page 0 item which will be available on all pages.OMG yes I can use items in page 0 ! I should have think of that :/ Shame on me.
    Application item values can be set from JavaScript using AJAX and an On-Demand Process.Yes I already tried ajax with ODP, my getappitem() function works but my setappitem() function won't assign value to application item, but it's not a problem now, I removed the ajax part and I will use page items :D

  • Skipping the white space

    How do I stop Adobe X reader from skipping the white space between pages? Or at least stop making it jump between pages. It's driving me mad.
    Please don't say "you'll get use to it." If there's no way to fix it I'll just uninstall and go back to 9.
    Thank you for your time.

    Okay, so I've dragged and dropped my created Flash site into Dreamweaver. One problem though, when I view it in a web browser (any web browser), it displays the site fine, however with a huge white space to the side of it. You'll see what I mean in this screenshot:
    What can I do then to remove that white space and make the site fill up the whole web browser? I've tried resizing it using a number of ways, but cannot seem to get it right.
    Thanks.

    You can do two things:
    1) Change the width of the container to 100%;  OR
    2) Post a link to your test page here (not the code nor picture) so that we can see ourselves what your code looks like.

  • How do I hide the area left behind when the playbar is hidden?

    Hi,
    I'm using Captivate 7 and one of my module's design requires me to display the playbar only on specific slides in the training. I've set my playbar to NOT show on overlay because that would cover up the lower section of the application screenshot, so now the playbar is displayed outside the canvas area and doesnt interfere with anything on screen. The problem is that on the siides where the playbar is hidden (Assign cpcmdShowPlaybar = 0), there is a colored strip at the bottom of the screen (for where the playbar would have been had it's visibility been turned on), which I don't want to have.
    How do I achieve this?
    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hi there
    One thought would be to note how much space this occupies. Then resize the project so it's taller by the same amount while pushing the existing content to the top. Then enable the playbar overlay. Then you could capture an image of the playbar and manipulate it so everything on it appears to be in a disabled state. Perhaps even superimposing words to the effect of the playbar being disabled. Then when the playbar disappears, the user has a clue that the playbar has been disabled.
    Just thinking out loud... Rick
