In BO 5.1.6 we could hide a universe via the supervisor
How can we hide a universe in BO XI R2

I don't tnik it is a universe design problem.
The problem is :
When i start Deski or Webi
I can select the linked universe in the list of universes
What we could do in 5.1.6 is hide this universe so when i opened BO reporter i could not select the linked universe (and cannot select this universe) .
We however need this linked universe (that we cannot see) as in fact when we select the master universe, the linked universe is "included" automatically in the master universe and we see one only master universe.

To use bluetooth keyboards, there is a security setting that must also be changed. Go to Options>Advanced Options>Applications, find your bluetooth keyboard driver, click for the menu and select Edit Permissions. Under the Interactions category, make sure that Interprocess Communication and Keystroke Injection are both set to Allow. This can also be implemented via BES software configurations if you have a lot of them to do.

Hide the Core universe from some user groups - where is SAP?

We are using BOXI 3.1 and want to hide core universes from the users. We can't use 'deny view objects' on the core universe. If we do so the derived universe can't run. Maybe the problem could be solved if we could make a shorcut to an universe and put this shortcut in another universefolder, but this possibility isn't there.
Another problem is when using LOVs from the core universe. If you move the derived universe to another folder you won't be able to use the LOVs defined in the core univers because they are placed on the pc in a folder where the core universe is placed and the derived universe doesn't use the LOVs.
We have a lot of core universes and many derived universes using core universes with different right for group of users. What we want is to create a AccessLevel for each usergroup and asign this to a usergroup and a universefolder and then place the derived universe in theese folders.
We could do so in 6.5.
There is a thread about this hiding problem, but this is not answered by SAP.

Thanks for your answer. I think your idea is the way to solve my problem, but I'm not satified with the solution because I have to put all universes in 1 universefolder, and as you mentioned it's time consuming because I must set rights on each universe. Nor is it a safe solution because I can forget to restrict users from using a universe.
I'd like to have a structure like this
Top universfolder
      Universe (all universes with View objects denied for all normal users - allowed for designers)
      Basic (shortcut to derived universes that everybody are allowed to see) ACL Basic
      Spec HR (shortcut to derived special universe for HR-group) ACL Basic
      Spec XX (shortcut to another derived special universe for a group of users) ACL Basic
Usergroups
      Basic (everybody in that group)
      Spec HR (a group of users are also in this group and are allowed to see the universe in Spec HR)
      Spec XX (a group of users are also in this group and are allowed to see the universe in Spec XX)
Rights
     UG Basic - UNIfolder Basic --> Assigned rights ACL Basic
     UG Spec HR - UNIfolder Spec HR --> Assigned rights ACL Basic
     UG Spec XX - UNIfolder Spec XX --> Assigned rights ACL Basic
In that way the designers always must import and eksport to Universe and the administrator can give som users access to a special univers by adding them to a SPEC usergroup and remove them from that group if they no longer must see the universes in the special folders.
I have the same structure on folder where the reports are placed and it will give a minimum of administration.
The funny thing is that you can use shortcut on reports but not on universes. In 6.5 you can linked universes to a special usergroup and you only need to linked the derived universe.
I hope SAP will come up with a better solution so i leave the question open, but once again thank you for taking time to reply.

Hide the Core universe from some user groups

Hi all,
We have one Core universe and few derived universes for each user group. One team is responsible to implement the Core and the derived universes. This means they have Full access on these universes. There are few other user groups which have VOD access on their group specific derived universe and the VOD access on the Core universe in order to create or run WebI reports. Since they have VOD access on the core universe, they will be able to create report against it. We like to hide the core universe from our user group and they should always use their derived universes.
Does someone know which entitlement setting will allow us to hide then core universe or prevent a certain user group to create new report against it without impacting their ability to run existing reports?

Hi,
Step 1. Try at CMC level
CMC-> Universes-> remove the groups (don't shouldn't have access to that universe)-> ok
If it doesn't work then try step 2.
Step 2. At Designer level -
Try to restrict the universe at designer level. i.e goto Tools-> Manage Restrictions -> Manage Access Restrictions -> add groups(required groups dont should have access to users) ->Ok.

How to design universe to dynamically/conditionally hide sensitive data

I am completely new to the BusinessObjects suite and am trying to understand which features might help me solve a problem.
In K-12 education, there is often a desire to allow users to drill into and filter data in various ways, but at the same time a need to protect student confidentiality (as required by FERPA, a U.S. law). It is not sufficient to prevent access to the most detailed data; we also have to prevent the viewer from inferring sensitive data based on obvious demographic characteristics or already-known data. For instance, given the following dataset for a school:
Name Gender Ethnicity Score
Bobby M White B
Samuel M Black A
Richard M Black A
Jenny F White A
Margo F Black A
Whitney F White A
And a data display like this:
 Ethnicity
Gender <count of As>
If I filter Gender to F and allow all ethnicity values, I will see the following:
 Ethnicity: All
Gender:F 3
Assuming I the viewer know there are three females in the dataset, and I happen to know that Jenny attends that school (info which is readily available), I now know that Jenny got an A.
Can I customize the universe or some other component in the system so that, in the above scenario, I see a "data not available" or something instead of the 3?

Hi,
You have to PERFORM 3 Steps.
Step-1
Create a Universe connection to the (Required)Database.
Step-2
Design a UNIVERSE representing your Business flow (Like a Department- HR, Sales, Purchase Etc)- As the UNIVERSE is a semantic layer(Do not hold data) you have to have a exact business flow in terms of how the data is moved and CREATE your required MEASURES and DIMENSIONS.
Step-3
Now you use the create the query by USING the MEASURES and DIMENSIONS you created in Step#2drop. Now you can model the report in any way Say... A Graph / Tabular way....

Want to hide or mod FCP 6 Splash Screen

Just want to hide the splash screen on my FCP system. I rent it to indy projects and I want to protect my serial. How can I access the Splash Screen Image? I've been able to mod the splash screen on all the other apps on the rental system but can not find or get to the Splash Screen for Color and FCP 6. I know that a real hacker can find my serial some how but I am not trying to block those geniuses. Just the lazy ones that are willing to go as far as copying or screen grabbing my Splash Screen and or About Screens to get a working serial. I know how to mod the Splash Screen to hide my serial and how to hide the app so the user can't get to the splash screen. I just don't know where the splash screen file is. I've read that it is in the .nib files? I just wanna hide my serial. Don't care if I mod it myself or install an app that does it for me. Any apple people or anyone else know what I can do to protect my product. I've also been told that the splash screen does not display the full serial but it soo totally does. Hey apple, please add the ability to hide this splash screen. Perhaps with it's own password to unlock and show again? OR, make splash screen hiding a universal ability in the OS. That would be sweet! Anyway,... ideas?

Hey all. I have been able to mod the splash screen on all the apps in FCP Studio 2 except for FCP and Color. The other studio apps Splash Screens access a .psd file. The only files I've found in Color that seem like they might be the splash screen files are ft_splash.Isi, ft_splashEDU.Isi, ft_splashNFR.Isi and ft_splashVOL.Isi
How do I open a .Isi file? If I can figure that out I can hide the serial number for Color but it still leaves FCP. Why do apps show the serial on the splash screen at all? What purpose does this serve?

Olap Universe Based on BEx Query - Cascading Prompt

I need to get two prompts: 1) Division 2) Group. Division has to be selected first and then Group. I understand I have to create cascading prompt. In the universe, in default hierarchy, group stands before before division. I have created a custon hierarchy like: Division, Group. I used Tools -> List of Values ->Create cascading list of values and then selected the right dimensions and then clicked on Generate LOVs. Then I have exported it to the repository. But I cannot see any reflection at the report level. So, some questions came in my mind:
1) Where can I check in the universe whether my cascading prompt has been created or not ?
2) I am using L01 Dimension. But underneath, there are two dimensions called LovDivision and LoVDivisionBase which are in Italic. I believe integration kit creates this. It is the same as Group. So, my question is: Am I selecting the right dimesnsions ? Or, should I select those in Italic.
3) Actually, these two prompts (variables) [along with others] are already created in BEx which I can see in my report. My plan is, if my cascading prompts work, I will tell the BW developer to remove those two. Do you think that these existing prompts are creating any problem.

Have you entered the cascading object in the webi query condition.At the run time it will generate hierarchy in the tree structure.

correct you are using right objects L01.By mdx driver it will create by default L00 and L01 objects.neglect the Lo00 objects.You can hide them in the universe or go to refresh structure and their is option to replace L00 definition with some other definition.

By default when you are creating universe based on the mdx drivers it will convert Bex query filters in the universe condition as mandatory filter and applied on the full universe.
You can go to the universe condition and open the condition and unchecked the option from their and after that these will not prompt in the webi query.

Is there an app that hides the status bar? Or permits customization of it?

I'd like to hide the time in the status bar, or replace it with other information.
Reason: I don't like being reminded what time it is when using a PDA type device, especially not in the middle of the night if I'm reading on it.
Is there an app that hides the bar universally, or lets one replace the time, with say the date or other text?

Are you sure about that? Several highly regarded, widely downloaded apps, e.g., eReader, have an option to hide the status bar. The developer forums are awash in discussions about the commands to hide the status bar-- it's built in to the SDK.
I figure someone will have put out a small program that does nothing but hide the status bar or allow its tweaking... much like StatusBar does on the Palm OS 5 PDAs...

Need to Hide Objects Default method in Approval Task

Dear All,
I have a requirement, where I need to hide the default method that is getting displayed in the approval task of the workflow.
The employee object and Trip objects default method are getting displayed in the preview of approval task. And same is getting displayed in the universal worklist in the columns of attachments.
There is an option in univesal worklist configuration where we can remove the attachments for display.
But to our requirement , only certain objects and attachments should be shown in portal and R/3 of the approval task.We need to restrict the employee object and trip object which is shown in objects and attachments column of the standard descision task.
Let me have any suggestion on this.

I took a look into this same issue some time ago, and at least I didn't find a way to restrict only certain attachments for displaying in UWL. If the attachments cannot be hidden, I have tried to avoid using the business objects as much as possible. For example the employee object is many times binded to the task only because you want to display certain attributes in the task description. Then I have just binded the needed attributes into separate container elements. Of course this will not solve all the cases.
Then other useful options are that you change the default method, and this method is implemented in a way that it either does not display anything, or displays something (maybe just an error message etc.) that makes more sense than the default method that SAP delivers. Or then you can implement for example your own web dynpro application that will be launched when you click the attachment.

Interactive Report - aggregate with hide - bug or feature?

We are in the process of converting existing reports to Interactive Reports (IR), and adding a bunch of new ones. We ran into a roadblock when using IR with aggregates. To
reproduce, I created a test table with region, state, county, city and population columns. I created an interactive report, CONTROL BREAK on "Region", aggregate (SUM) on
population. The result looked like this.

Result #1:

Region: West
************
State County City Population
CA Orange County Irvine 100
CA Orange County Orange 200
CA Los Angeles Hollywood 300
CA Los Angeles Universal City 400
 Sum 1,000
When I clicked on City column, and chose to hide it, I expected the IR to resummarize the result to look like this:

Result #2:

Region: West
************
State County Population
CA Orange County 300
CA Los Angeles 700
 Sum 1,000
But what I saw was this:

Result #3:

Region: West
************
State County Population
CA Orange County 100
CA Orange County 200
CA Los Angeles 300
CA Los Angeles 400
 Sum 1,000
The data in the above result #3 is not presented the in way it should be for the users to comprehend.

In the non-interactive version, we display checkboxes for the users to show and hide the columns. If the column "City" is set by the user to "Hide", then we use the
condition on the column to hide the City column from the report, and use the query "SELECT ..., CASE WHEN :P10_SHOW_CITY = 'YES' THEN city ELSE NULL END As city, SUM
(population) FROM .. " to summarize the data. This displays results like the one shown in Result #2.

1. Shouldn't IR re-summarize the data to display results like I have shown in Result #2 when a column is hidden? We are able to achieve this with non-interactive version. Is this a
bug in IR?

2. Is there a way to get interactive report to display results like the way I have shown in Result #2?

3. Is there a way to retrieve the columns that are set to "HIDE" in IR so that we can modify our SQL to resummarize?

Hi Ravi,
When you add a control break, we do not re-generate the query to do group by. We just do control breaks. In the current version of APEX, to achieve what you are trying to see, you need to create an Interactive report with group by clause. If you want to use a dynamic query, the solution I suggest will not work.
The good news is in APEX 4.0, we are working to include group by view to an Interactive Report. This will let you select group by columns and aggregate functions to get the Result #2 you are trying to get.

Behaviour of Hidden Key figures in MDX universe

Hello Experts,
I would like to know about the behaviour of Hidden objects in Bex query in an MDX universe. SAP BW environment: BW 7.3 being tried against BI 4.0SP2 and BI 4.0,SP4 and higher.
In a 4.0,SP2 environment, when the display of an object is set to "Always Hide", the universe is still able to recognize the object and show it in measures at universe level.
But the same query when accessed from BI 4.0,SP4 onwards environment, the universe is not able to find the objects that are set to always hide and can see only those objects which are set to either "Always Show" or "Hide(Can be shown").Below is the property i am talking about.
Is this a change in property in BI 4.0,SP04 and higher that if the object needs to be accessed at universe level, it should be set to Always show or Hide(can be shown)?

This is a behaviour of BW 7.3 with BOBJ all versions. Key figures which are Set to Hide(always) cannot be seen in BOBJ , which was the opposite case in BW 7.1 where MDX universes could also recognize always hidden key figures.
Resolution: Change key figure setting to "Hide(Can be shown) to be displayed and recognized in BOBJ all versions which are connected to BW 7.3 and higher.

Universe not showing correct filters after refreshed

SAP BO XI 3.1, when i am trying to refresh data in a webi report, its giving error, Invalid prompt definition contact BO admin WI 00005.
Though i deleted all filters in Bex query, save the query, import universe, refresh univerese, save universe, export universe still webi report is showing the same error, but if all the filters are removed it shouldn't show that error?
The filters are still available in Universe, but once filters are deleted from query there shouldn't be filters in universe after refreshed.
After universe is refreshed clicked the check button it showed me 15 errors on filters with message Invalid prompt definiton, supplied XML doc is not valid.
Can any one please help me out i really need this very soon.

Can you clarify the point?
Here is a simplified description of universe refresh:
<li>Generate a new universe in memory
<li>Compare the universe to refresh and the generated universe:
<li> Add new objects in the universe to refresh
<li> Delete or hide obsolete objects in the universe to refresh
<li> Update objects (that need to be updated) in the universe to refresh
<li> Delete all filters that are based on SAP variables and regenerate them if needed

Can you please tellme where can we fine UWL iView? I tried to find this out in two ways.
1) Portal Content -> Content Provided by SAP -> End User Content -> Standard Portal Users -> Views -> com.sap.coll.iviews -> Universal Worklist (finally i got this iView). Here i dint find any property called "List of UWL Actions to exclude". In the link which you had given, its written that we can modify the iView and add the name of the actions under the Actions to exclude from the UWL property.
Which iView do we need to modify and where can i find that property?
2) I downloaded the xml file and then tried to find this property "List of UWL Actions to exclude" or " Actions to exclude from the UW". But i couldnt find both the properties in xml file.

How to hide raw files

Hi All,
I have a Nikon D70s and shoot in both raw and jpg. When I upload to iPhoto 08, it uploads both .nef and .jpg files, which is fine, and then displays both photos. I want to be able to hide the .nef files until I need them. Is there a global setting that will automatically hide .nef files?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There is no universal setting to hide any kind of file. But you could create a smart album based on the criteria Photo is RAW. It will display all of the raw photos in the library and make it easy to hide them en mass.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Best practices for Refreshing Unv Structure for SAP based universes

This may sound basic and I apologize for asking this, but the refresh structure in SAP based universes is somewhat different from noraml universes.
Here is what i'd like to do:
- Hide all the L00 objects.
- Rename all the L01 objects and move them to a new Class.
- Change some of the detail (attribute) objects to dimension objects.
- Hide the format and Unit for key figures.
- Hide all of the classes/subclasses that get automatically generated when a SAP based universe is created.
I have noticed that when I do the above and refresh the universe, it assumes that all these objects have gone missing from the original classes and adds them back to the universe.
I also want to make sure that if the select of an object gets updated and the object is re-named, then it should automatically pick up the change.
Lastly, I have some reports which were built prior to this renaming. I want to make sure that the reports do not break.

Yes it was a common problem back in the earlier XI 3.x days . a lot of bugs in this area were eliminated by the time of XI 3.1 SP03 FP3.x - you don't quote your version.
Actually, you need to be aware that a refresh structure is often not needed, and can corrupt the olap universe . Pls check out Note 1278216 - What are the best practices for OLAP Universe Change Management when using SAP Integration Kit?
in essence :
Only use 'Refresh Structure' functionality If:
- A new Object (Dimension/Characteristic) has been added to the BEx query (Rows/Columns/Free Characteristics)
- A new Variable Restriction has been added to the Bex query Filters
Do not use 'Refresh Structure' functionality after:
- Having modified a STRUCTURE in BEx. i.e. 'Detail view of Formula' or 'Details of Selection', or changing the General Description of structure members.
- Doing manual actions on objects/classes in the OLAP Universe like: Move ; Cut/Paste ; Drag/Drop ; Hide ; Delete.
(because these workflow can lead to corruption)
