Hide updates in Mac App Store

I've seen old topics on here about hiding updates in the Mac App Store, but they do not work for me.
I click "More..." on the app's information, but there is no option to hide the update. This is very frustrating and it's even more frustrating that I can't find a workaround for this anywhere.

Check your software for VALID copies. There are cracks out there that creat this update. I had a similar situation with a video editing app and once I deleted it the update went away. NOT saying you've pirated anything but this is well-known if you Google around a bit.I bought a MacBook Pro used and it had some cracked software on it that caused this issue. it's a mehtod to tie the license of the cracked app to a legit app to fool the App Store for registration blocking.

  • IPhoto 9.2.1 update from Mac App Store will not update from 9.1.5

I downloaded the iPhoto 9.2.1 update from Mac App Store.
When I try to update from 9.1.5 to 9.2.1, I get the message: "The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store."
Since the Mac App Store is where I downloaded the update from, I don't know how exactly to proceed.
    Any suggestions?

    Terence and Peter,
I have iPhoto 9.1.5 which was installed on my iMac that I received November, 2011.
My wife has the 9.2.1 version of iPhoto on her MacBook Pro which she bought months before I bought my iMac.
My iPhoto library opens fine in 9.1.5 on my iMac but will not open the copy of her iPhoto library that I copied to my iMac. We have two libraries and I want the same one she has instead of two separate libraries.
I went to the Mac App Store and downloaded iPhoto9.2.1 Update.dmg to my desktop.
I then opened the .dmg and clicked on the iPhoto9.2.1Update.pkg.
The install iPhoto Update window started to open briefly before the Alert message "The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available" appeared.
I checked the MAS and found this link and this is what I downloaded: http://support.apple.com/downloads#iPhoto%209.2.1

  • How do i update my Mac App store bought Photoshop Elements?

How do i update my Mac App store bought Photoshop Elements 9? Adobe says Apple handles updates, no updates were ever issued via App Store. Manual downloads on adobe.com results in Patch not compatible on both a security/bug fix update to PE9 and Camera Raw 6.5 update that adds more supported cameras.
All together, it means i have 80$ of useless software that doesn't support new camera models. Not happy.

For some reason, Adobe pulled Photoshop Elements 9 from the Mac App Store. It may be related to the fact they released version 11 just 6 days ago? (Note that I'm checking right now and in the US app store - other county app stores may differ.)
In any case, because it is no longer existing, you won't be able to get any future updates. If I were you, I'd contact Adobe and specifically ask why they removed the app from the App Store, preventing their users from downloading any updates in the future.

    Hello JohnnyChin95,
You absolutely can just reinstall OS X Mavericks without having to erase and install. The steps to do that are almost the same as the only thing you do differently is that you do not go to Disk Utility to erase the drive. Just go to the Reinstall OS X option and pick your Hard Drive and follow the on screen instructions to get it going. Check out the article below for the step by step process.

  • Apps wont update in Mac App Store

I have several apps in the mac App store which are not updating.
I get a message which says "You have updates available for other accounts. To update this applicatoin, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."
I have never used another account and I tried emailing Apple Support and they refering my back to iTunes and do not understand I'm having trouble in the Mac App Store!
    Can anyone help?

Thanks! I was able to sign in and view my account.
Once I signed out,i went back to the purchases pane and it said I have to sign in to view my purchases. I signed in again and it gave the same error
I went to the updates pane and it says no updates available.
    Do you have another thought?

  • IPhoto/iMovie not showing eligible for update in Mac App Store

I understand that with the release of Mavericks, anyone with early versions of iWork or iLife apps are able to update to the current version free of charge.
I know that this works for the iWork apps but I'm having problems with the iLife apps (iPhoto and iMovie).
I was able to re-install the iWork apps (Numbers, Pages, Keynote) from the iWork install DVD that I had.  After installing them, the Mac App Store recognized the apps and I was able to proceed with the upgrade.
Unfortunately, I'm not having the same luck with the iLife apps.  I had to install both iPhoto and iMovie from the Applications Install DVD that I received when I originally purchased my MBP.  I was able to successfully install the two apps, but now when I go into the Mac App Store, it doesn't seem to recognize that I've got the apps on my computer - it only gives me the option to purchase the apps.
Any thoughts on how I can get the updates to iPhoto and iMovie?  It seems to be related to how I installed them (as I selectively installed these two apps from the Install DVD), but I've got no idea as to how I can get the upgraded version.
Thanks for anyone that can help!!
    David

Not sure if you were also suggesting creating a new AppleID account as well.
No. You may have to contact App Store support to get this resolved.
Unfortunately there's not been a universal solution found for this problem.

  • HP printer updates through Mac App Store

Hello! I have a HP Photosmart 6520 printer since last week. I've done a wi-fi installation following the steps of the HP software that was with the printer. The last (and only) update has been via the touch screen of the printer itself because the Mac App Store didn't show any update. I'd like the next updates to be via the Mac App Store. How can I do? Should I re-install the printer through System Preferences > Printers and Scanners instead of through the HP software?
(Just to be clear, I'm talking about this: OS X: Printer and scanner software available for download - Apple Support)

You can get drivers directly from the manufacturer.

  • How to ignore updates in mac app store

Hi, can you tell me how to ignore updates in the mac app store.

This is the second old thread that you have dug up today with your brand new account and posted a snotty comment. At best the hosts will edit your other comment, but more likely they will delete it. You agreed not to criticize Apple, its products and business decisions earlier today when you opened your new account. You have already violated that commitment.

  • Xcode - Problems Updating in Mac App Store

    Hello Everyone,
I installed Xcode 4.0.1 using the Mac App Store a while ago and now there is a new version 4.0.2 out, When I go to the Xcode page in the Mac App Store it says "Installed" and when I go to Updates it says "All apps are up to date" but when I go to Purchases it says "Update" So I clicked on it and it said "You have updates available for other accounts"
Is it possible for me to update to 4.0.2, or will I need to uninstall the old version and buy it again?
    Any help is appreciated
    Tim

Had to jump through hoops to get it working.

  • "Updates" in Mac App Store contains multiple instances of same patch?

I started with a newly opened MacBook Air (mid-2013) with Mountain Lion.  I used the Mac App Store to install Mavericks and the few subsequent OS patches.  In "Updates", I see multiple instances of the same patch, listed a few times:
MacBook Air SMC Firmware Update v1.9 (3 times)
Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update v4.09 (2 times)
MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update v2.7 (1 time)
    iPhoto v9.5 (1 time)
I haven't noticed anything wrong with the system, but it's weird to see a patch "installed" multiple times?  Anyone know why this is?
    Thanks!

Yes, seen that little occurrence more than a few times, eventually it will vanish from what I've seen.
If you installed it fine, no worries.

  • Update in Mac App Store, just not for my account

My Mac App Store tells me that I've got at update for one of my programs, but when I open Mac App Store it's a update for Angry Birds, a game I don't have on my mac. When I press update a pop-up appears and say I need to login with [email protected] to update the program/game. Problem is that [email protected] looks like a russian account and i'm not from Russia. My account is set up with a gmail account and doesn't look anything like the russian account.
    Am I being hacked?
    Can anyone please help me?

Since my last comment I have come up with a way to hunt down the pirated app.
All MAS apps have a MAS receipt in their app bundle. Check any app acquired from the MAS. Right click on the app's icon in your Apps folder and choose Show package contents. In the Contents folder is a _MASReceipt folder and in that folder is the coded MAS receipt. It has the Apple ID of the MAS account that bought/acquired the app from the MAS. It is that receipt that the MAS uses to alert you that an app has an update. There would not be a notice of an update with someone else's Apple ID showing in the MAS on your Mac, if there was not an app with a receipt from this person's account somewhere on your Mac.
    Download the free app FindAnyFile (FAF);
    http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/
This app is easier to use and seems to be more powerful than Spotlight. Open FAF and in the box type _MASReceipt and press Find. It should come up with a list of every app on the Mac with a MAS receipt. Compare the apps with receipts in FAF's list with your purchased apps list in the Mac App Store. The odd app out should be the pirated app.

  • Can't get updates from Mac App Store

I changed my password. Now, I can't get updates to apps bought using the old PW. Error msg: "Download using your other account." What "other" account? Change back to the old PW and download the upgrades, then go back to the new PW?

After I reset my password, Mac App Store told me to sign in to my account and verify that I had a valid method of payment set up. Naturally, I do have such a method. But Done does't work because I have to verify an account that, according to MY Account, is already verified. But, what the hey? Apple has my back against the wall. I re-verify it. Apple says, "Account verified. Return to App Store."
Nothing has changed. I verify my MOP again. I get the same good news.
Nothing has changed. I give up for the night..
Today, I open up Mail. Two messages from Apple. Each says that my account has been de-authorized. That is, each time that I "verified" my MOP, I was, somehow, actually DE-verifying it!
So, I set up a new MOP with no apparent probs, except that,
MOP?!!! What MOP?! !'ve ALREADY PAID! What does it matter whether I have an MOP, if I'm not BUYING anything?!!! But, what are you going to do?
All right. I've now completely redone everything, including deleting App Store with Amnesia and doing a whole 'nother install.
I try to download an update.
You have updates available for other accounts.
To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it.
I have a single account. I've never had any other. I have fifteen (15!) apps waiting to be updated.
As far as I can tell, the trouble started after I put in a new password - before I knew that I was going to have a problem - after having used the old one from the opening of the MAS. Everything that had an update from after that date is  updated. The fifteen non-updatables are from before the password change.
    Thank you for trying.

  • Software update for Mac App store

I tried to update my software to get the new Mac App store. It said everything was downloaded and installed but I couldn't find the Mac app store anywhere on my macbook pro. I tried to check for software updates so see if I missed anything but i had no more updates available. What can I do?
    Thank you

I tried to update my software to get the new Mac App store.
You need to be running Mac OS X 10.6.6 to have it. Mac OS X 10.6 is a paid upgrade.

  • Updating non-mac app store apps

I got my pages mac app from school, which I downloaded from my schools website. Since mountain lion, I can't update the app since it's not from mac app store. What can I do?

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
If the app can't be updated through Software Update, then I would contact the school for instructions.
