Hiding files when doing a search

I want to be able to HIDE some files if someone were to search for something specific. I know about the command-I on a folder and then selecting "no access" under "sharing and permissions" - but even with a folder under that designation, you can still see the files in it when doing a search. Not Good! This never used to happen in previous OS versions. Any way to TOTALLY lock down a folder so the only way to ever see what's in it is if you had the user/pass to get in?

If you wish to password protect files/folders, I recommend using the Encrypted Disk Image feature of Mac OS X.
"By default, the password is stored in your login keychain when you create an encrypted disk image."
If you want total control of this disk image, "Do Not" add the password to keychain. That way a password must be entered every time that you attempt to open the Disk Image. Just be sure to remember the password or your data will be reduced to a jumble of 1's and 0's forever.

AD FS 2012 R2 / Error when doing a search on Hybrid environment in sharepoint

We have an environment setup with Sharepoint Azure and Sharepiont online. Federation has been installed using Windows 2012 R2 ( ADFS 3.0). The trust between the Azure & Online was setup and hybrid search functionality was perfectly allright.
Due to recent changes, we rebuild the Sharepoint Azure environment and the trust has been rebuild. Federation works fine, but when we logon to Sharepoint Online in o365 and do a search, it does not search the Azure platform sharepoint. We get Errors of
- event id 325 (
The Federation Service could not authorize token issuance for caller '<USERNAME>'. The caller is not authorized to request a token for the relying party 'urn:federation:MicrosoftOnline'. See event 501 with the same Instance ID for caller identity.

another one is
- event id 364 ( Encountered error during federation passive request.
I am not sure where we are going wrong now. here are few things we have checekd
- we have rebuild the MSOL Federation using - Update-msolfederatedDomain
- Time sync between ADFS and proxy server verified.
- service account has permissions on the cert private key
- Issuance rules allows all users to access the federation. (two factor auth is setup and is working perfectly fine)
Let me know what more i can check on this topic to get this up and running.

When doing a search, the websites I have been to don't highlight a different color. How can I change this so I know which ones I have looked at?

On IE when I am doing a search the webpages I have been to, turn a purple color. Can I set Firefox to do the same thing? How would I do that?

That is the visited color.
You can check the Visited Links color: Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors: Colors
Make sure that the History is enabled: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Remember my browsing history
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Private Browsing mode, see [[Private Browsing]])
To see History and Cookie settings in Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history"

Two DVRs keep rebooting when doing guide searches

I have two 7232 DVRs that are side by side. When trying to do a guide search, the search will slow down and many times the DVR will reboot. It even appears to be slow when hitting the search or DVR buttons. This has been going on for about a month. Both DVRs have 2TB external drives. The hardware configuration has been the same since Verizon allowed the attachment of external drives. Verizon technical support recommendation is to replace both DVRs. This makes no sense, since both DVRs are experiencing the same symptoms. Does anyone have any suggestions what may be causing these issues. Also, there will be a big data lose if the DVRs have to be replaced.

I'm pretty sure I have the same problem as you but I only have 1 DVR with a 1 TB external WD external drive. I also do not think there is a hardware issue with my DVR as verizon customer support told me yesterday. I live on long island and noticed that every time I turn on the STB, the channel defaults to channel 1. It did not do this until recently which, I think coinsides with this rebooting problem that you described. If you disconnect the external drive, I bet you will not have this problem with the reboot when perfroming searches. It seems to me to be a bug with there latest software update but not sure. Perhapps I can have verizon customer support reinstall an earlier SW version and see if the problem goes away.

Lack of jaxp.jar file when doing portal development

Handle the "No matches were found." when doing a search in Adobe Acrobat PDF file.

I have written an Excel spread sheet and using visual basic coding in my macro can open an as needed PDF file, search for a paragraph number as copied from the spread sheet, capture the page in the PDF file it is found on and paste the "pagefound" back into my Excel spreadsheet where desired. In some cases, however, Adobe Acrobat Professional XI reports back that "No matches were found."
Is there any way to handle the display of this message using Visual Basic Coding so that I can set my pagefound field to 1 or -1 to tell me that the paragraph number does NOT exist in the file?

Thank you for the quick reply. However, I am NOT trying suppress the message. I am tying to handle the message. In other words, I want the message to appear when required BUT I want to be able to try and CAPTURE the fact so that I can specify the page as being non-existent (such as entering a -1 for the page). Is there any way in Adobe or VBA coding in Excel to recognize that the message is displaying but not stopping it, just recognizing that it is appearing and handle it? Thanks in advance.

I am using windows Vista and Norton 360. I have tried all the steps listed in your support article including safe mode, firefox reset, and reinstalling latest version of firefox but nothing seems to work. Crashes just about every day and usualy whilst doing searches on Google. Has been going on for most of this year. Any ideas ?

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Does anyone know how to stop the "frequently visited websites" box from popping up when doing a search in Safari?

I just upgraded to Yosemite and Safari is now showing a frequently visited websites box right below the address bar when I start to type something in it. Does anyone know how to deactivate this box? Its rather irritating.

Can't call last contact when doing a search in iPhone 4S

I am not sure when this bug was introduced but I am noticing it after 8.0.2 upgrade.
When searching my contacts if I get more results than a single screen can fit, the last one gets hidden behind the bottom bar. I can still see it by dragging up but there is no way I can call it. The moment I release the screen, the contact goes down again and no matter how quick I am there is no way I can click it.

Here is a screen shot for a better understaning of my issuse. I did a seach for music containing "pop" The search modified the view of the actual filename and took out the artistname. The filename hasen't actually changed, just how I view it. It's missing the artist name. The info box to the left shows the actual file name... Changing the advanced setting did nothing. This is happening on my Mavricks Imac. If I do this on my macbook pro I get the full filename.... Might have to scrap mavricks and revert back to mt lion...

File Error: Unknown File - when doing save as

yet another variation on the file problems i am having.
opened an aotosave file and tried to 'Save project as",
wont do it, reports "File error: unknown file"
the same error i get often when trying to "save as" the original,
and the same error i get if i make a copy of the FCP file in the finer, open it and try to save it, it wont do it.....
so with the main sequence in my project getting lost ("not found"),
i now find that its almost impossible to make a backup that works....
anyone know about this SERIOUS FAULT.
i can think of no reason why it cant handle the most basic act of keeping assets attached to the program.
new computer, new drives, new everything..
i am now working really scared, when it loses the main sequence again (1 hour), the latest backup that might work could be anything from 1 - 5 days old, who knows, and there goes days of work...

Except that this issue is almost always totally unrelated to FCP at all.
Paulo has dome great anecdotal advice but this is usually a fiel permissions problem. No idea how it gets changed but you can run Disk Utility and repair permissions. Do it twice. then Get Info on your drive and see what the privileges are. Do the same for your FCP projects folders. Get info on your FCP project file itself.
You need to get this figured out before you invest any more time in editing.

Using iPad 3' and Safari, when doing google search, resulting hyperlinks will not open. Will only open in new tab.

I am using an iPad3, with OS 5.1. As of 16th April when I do a Google search (whilst running Safari), none of the resulting hyperlinks will work. If I open the link in a new tab it will work, but this is very inconvenient. Anyone got an answer to this problem? Thanks in advance.

Although I thought the hyperlink problem was solved I then started to get problems with page size settings. I was having to manualy expand the text on most pages, and links within some internet sites like Amazon for editing wish lists, or buying products would not work. So I changed "open new tabs in background" back to ON, then cleared cookies, settings and history in my Safari settings. All page size and links back to normal now - hope it lasts a bit longer than last fix.

Generate Trace file when doing RMAN

OS AIX 5.3L with Oracle 10g (10.2.0.1), Since beginning of the RMAN backup, the Oracle generated trc file in udump and it is quite big ( over my dump_file_size limit). According to Metalink, it is a bug (Bug:4529700), since 2005 and it seems happening to all platforms. So does this bug have patch yet? How can I aovid the dump trace file to avoid exploring the storage directory?

because of the limit of my dump_file_size, so it stopped and Oracle generates another small one.
and these trace file always were generated at the end of the RMAN backup.
If you read the bottom of the note, it mention the bug: 4529700 -- Trace File Created During Rman Database Backup and in that note: it gave an example content of the file. You probably refereed to another bug: 4596065, which generated an empty trace.

Please try a Ctrl + F5 refresh after canceling the dialog box.
If that doesn't work also try reloading ('''F5''') the page after deleting all the stored site info for google via '''History''' (or '''Alt''' + '''S''') > '''Show All History''' and on the top right '''Search''' box type '''google''' and in the results right-click on '''google.ca''' and select '''Forget About This Site'''.

Hiding files when left clicking on the dock

From the "Dock", when I left click on "Preview" it shows the recent files I had viewed. How do I stop the files from showing up when I left click on "Preview"?

I've done that and it didn't work.
( I've quit Preview. I've opened Preview, then File, Clear Menu ) and these don't work as well.

Camera Raw CS6 produces damaged files when doing greyscale conversion

When attempting to save to JPEG from CS6 Camera Raw for Nikon NEF files (with the greyscale conversion checkbox checked), the resulting images are damaged: red hue output with scattered noise. See:

This has been observed on D90 and D600 NEF files, CS6 trial installation. Exporting the image to Photoshop main works, but is laborious for bulk conversions.
Is this a known bug?

Yes, known issue...will be fixed. In the meantime the workaround is to process the images as sRGB (gamma 2.2) or ProPhoto RGB (gamma 1.8) and convert to grayscale in Photoshop.
