Hiding object in UNX universe

Hi, We are using BI 4 SP7.
We have recently converted UNV universe to UNX universe. There are some hidden objects in UNV that are used in reports it is fine with UNV.
After converting UNV to UNX, those reports are failing because of the hidden objects. If we un-hide them then report is working fine. So there seems to be change in behavior of UNV and UNX.
Our universe will be used by others to create ad-hoc/custom reports. We don't want to have these objects to be visible to those report creators. Is there a way to hide some objects but still use in reports.

Hi, I have tried it.
I created a business security profile and denied access to specific objects for a user.
Objects are restricted to that user in Query panel, this is fine. But that user is not able to access these objects in the standard reports. Below error is thrown when i tried to refresh the report.
"An internal error occured while calling 'processDPCommandsEx' API. (Error: ERR_WIS_30270)"
Is there a way to enable access to objects for all users in reports but not Query panel ?
I added tried by adding 'ALL OBJECT' access in Display Data tab but it did not change anything.

RESTful Webservices for UNX Universe

Dear Experts,
Is Restful available for Changing connections for a UNX Universe (both single and multi source, more interested in multi source).
Environment details:
BI 4.0 SP601
MS SQL Server 2008, Oracle 11g
Scenarios:
1. For a multi-source universe, with MS SQL Server, when we switch connections within an environment or between environments, we have to change the owner name manually. Please refer to the ideaplace in the following link:

2. Normally in some scenarios when we migrate universe, on the destination system, the migrated universe will have to be imported, and the connections are changed, and then exported back to the repository.

Updating a Universe Connection for Single/Multi source is possible using the Semantic Layer Java SDKs.
You would not be able to achieve the same using the Semantic Restfull webservices SDKs.

Changing an Object in the Universe - does this auto show in the document??

I have to make some changes to some Dimension and Detail objects in my Universe as some of the underlying data is changing and so case statements that I have in my objects will need to change. For example, say I have an object called "Colour Description" then:
CASE WHEN code = 1 THEN red END
will now change to
CASE WHEN code = 1 THEN blue END
My question is, will this change in the code of the object automatically filter through to every document that the object is used in or will i have to go through every document that uses it to make sure the change has been made to the SQL.

Once you have exported the universe, it will change the object for each report that does not have the "Do Not Generate SQL" option checked the next time that you log on and run it - literally the next time that report interacts with the CMS and find out its universe has changed, it will update the SQL. As long as you're not changing data types, you will be fine.

Not able to edit the lov of an object in a universe

Hi,
I am not able to edit the lov of an object in a universe.
The universe(XI3) is based on stored procedure but it also contains tables from database.
The object points to the table which is not a stored procedure, any idea why we are not able to edit its lovs.

BO4 - Changing name of existing connection on repository and impact on existing unx universes

Hi,
If we have universes (unx ) which have connections and want to rename the connection, I know we can change the name of the connection on the repository via the repository resources in the Information Design Tool.
I notice existing universes which use the connection still have the old name for their connection shortcut.
Is there a way to synchronise so that if change a name of universe connection the names of connection shortcust on existing universe connections are automticallly chnaged to reflect the new name?

Changing name of existing connection not impact on existing unx universe, if backed connection CUID not changes, I think you can rename the existing connection in CMC .
Before doing test with sample example.

Creating objects in BO universe designer

Hi All,
I have designed a universe on the top of BEx Query. I want to create additional objects at Universe Level.
I am able to create objects in the Universe and they gets parsed, but when I pulled the same objects in the report query it generates a MDX error.
Even a simple <Expression> @select(Key Figures\Actual) </Expression>is not working
Please provide me some pointers for creating the objects.

I am creating objects in OLAP universe only.
I am using BO XI 3.1 with SAP Integration Kit installed on my system.
I am not able write any expression in the objects being created at universe level. Any expression, I write gives me the error while running the query while the object gets parsed at universe level.
for @Select() I am using the same as you write?
One more doubt what shuould be parameters of @Select()?
Technical Definition (Generated in the select clause) or Display Name (Class name\object Name)
If I am writing the definition as @Select([Measures].[000054728]) Then the object defition gets parsed but if I am writing it as @Select(Key Figures\Actual) then the object doesn't get parsed in the universe.
I guess I have read somewhere that we can use "@Select(Key Figures\Actual)' while writing the expressions. Please correct if I am wrong.

Webi error on Unx Universes only('getSessionInfosEX')API

Webi error on Unx Universes only('getSessionInfosEX')API We are on BO4.1 SP2, Oracle11g I am getting error when I try to create webi report on unx universes only. I can create report on Unv universes without any error. Here is the error I am getting ('An internal error occured while calling 'getSessionInfoEX') API. I have created unx on Oracle 11g and I can run the query in IDT and can see data without any error. Not sure what could be the issue, any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Based on your various threads, it seems like you are having numerous issues after you update, which suggests to me that something has gone wrong during the patching.
Route 1 in such a situation would be to contact AGS support services. Have you done that?

Query as a Web Service can't see .unx universes to use as data source?

Hi,
I created a Universe using Information Designer. The Universe is published on the server as *.unx.
With Query as a Web Service Designer, I connect to the server to create a query. However, in "Choose a universe as a data source for the query", I do not see the *.unx Universes, I only see *.unv Universes.
Both software are the latest version (XI 4.0).
Anyone know what is the issue here?

Regarding going through WebI Rich client > Web Services, how do I generate a URL?
In WebI Rich client this is already sourcing the Web Service (provided i already have a URL)...
I am confused with this.

Get List of All Objects in Particular Universe

Is there a way to extract/export the "names" of all objects in a universe to Excel or a text file so that I can then sort and analyse all the objects.

Error "The Query Returned no Objects" while exporting Universe in UDT?

I have created a Universe on top of BEx Query using UDT in SAP BO 4.1 and tried to Export the Universe to Repository the following error is appearing.
"The Query Returned no Objects" so "The Universe couldn't be exported".
Could you please suggest me what could be the issue and how to resolve this.

What version of Oracle 9i are you using? Do you have a standard 'NLS_LANG' environment variable set on client's machines? Or do you set it to different values on different machines?
Here is one of way you could get around it.
Could you specify the export parameter 'STATISTICS=NONE' while exporting the table data?
Try this and see.
If this is successful, you could use the import utility as usual. You could always compute or estimate statistics on the table after import.

Error(XLS 000006) while using .UNX universe in dashBoard Designer.

I have created a .UNX universe based on Excel Workbook using IDT and its working fine while i am running it in The Repository Area of IDT,
But When i am going to use this Universe inside DashBoard Designer for designing the DashBoard,using Query Browser, it is showing the Error
Universe Axyzwtyzst.. not found(XLS 000006). the dataSource can not be generated for the <Universe Name>.
if you have any Idea Please Share your views on this issue.

QaaWS 4.0 - Do not see my newly created .unx Universe in QaaWS Designer?

Is it true that you can not connect to a *.unx Universe (universe created from Info Designer 4.0) using Query as a Web Service Designer?

You could see the UNV universe in the QAAWS and not the .UNX.
Are you planning to use the QAAWS in Xcelsius? If yes, Dashboard Design 4.0(Xcelsius) has new feature" Query Panel" which enables you to connect to .UNX universe directly into Xcelsius.

WebI Report causing WIS 30270 error on UNX universe

Hi All,
Need some expertise on a really weird error I am facing. I have a dashboard designed on a UNX universe, and a connecting URL that opens a WebI report that is also designed on the same universe. The dashboard is working fine for all the users but when the users open the WebI report, they face the WIS 30270 error which has a bunch of discussions but nothing related to the weirdness I have here.
As an administrator, I don't see the issue at all. Some general users have the issues but intermittently though. So I believe the servers are not the cause. Then I investigated access levels but users within the same user group have seen the error while others haven't encountered it at all.
The WebI reports that have been designed on BEx queries are all working fine with no issues. Please advise and help me figuring out the issue and resolving it.
Current version of BOE: 4.0 SP6 P3

Universe designed on SQL Server

I had a simular problem once, universe worked on Explorer, Dashboards but not on the WebI side.
The problem was, I used the "MOVE" option inside CMC, and moved the universe to a diferent folder. And for some reason something inside the universe still pointed to the old location, and only webi was not able to find it, I mean, it was able to find it, but not apply the correct permisions, and it would fail when I tried to refresh the report.
Can you create a new universe and test?
Or open the current one and save it with a differente name on another folder?
If that isn't it, are you using SSO on that universe?

Connecting .unx universe in Crystal 2013

Hi,
following up by this thread I would like to ask if any improvements have been done in Crystal 2013?
We are on BO 4.1 and would like to use Crystal 2013 for the reporting.
Still we cannot access and connect .unx universe in this version. Shall we expect the solution of the this issue in one of the releases of SPs?

The "Crystal 2013" parts of BO are all still 32-bit. Since .unx universes use 64-bit connections, they can't be used in Crystal 2013. SAP has Crystal for Enterprise that will connect to .unx universes.
I've had some issues with some formatting options not being available in CR4E, but I've been able to get around them by creating my report in CR4E and placing all of the fields that I need on the report. I then open the report in Crystal 2013, do the formatting, save it, and then open it back up in CR4E to save it to BO. This is not "officially" supported, but it seems to work.
