Hiding photos during viewing

Is it possible to hide certain photos in a project based on, say, a keyword ?
I can do this using intelligent albums, but I want to hide certain photos in a project.
The hidden photos might then be viewable using a password, for example.

You can not password protect images.
However, you can filter out images that contain a certain keyword. In the Query HUD simply choose to show images that Do Not Include that keyword.

  • Delete photo during slide show view?

In older versions of iPhoto you could delete a photo while viewing them in slideshow mode. This was helpful in deciding what to keep after a big import. This feature seems to be missing in iPhoto '09. Any suggestions?

Yes this has gone and it's hard to see it as an improvement.
Workarounds: When you import your pics, view the first one at full size and you can then tap the right arrow key on your keyboard to move to the next one. As you do can tap command-delete to move unwanted pics to the trash.

Couple of things you can check to isolate the prb
Run the detail report individually w/o navigating from the summary report
Also make sure if your summary report runs well as such.
As long as they run indivdually and you not even passing filters ideally it shouldnt cause any issue... Does it generate a SQL?

  • After resizing a photo and viewing in album picture offsets to one side and crashes ios7

After resizing a photo using the edit function , viewing the photo in camera roll
Offsets the picture to one side so its not in the middle , zoom into the pic and zoom back out
The black borders appear at the top and bottom and all looks in centre
But when i flick back and forward through my pics and get back to my
First pic i resized it offsets to one side and the camera roll crashes and freezes

Since you can't drag a photo when viewing in the large mode you can try the following:
1 - make sure the Info drawer on the right side is displayed.
2 - click on a photo and hit the Space bar.
3 - click on the Full Screen button at the lower left.
Now you're in full screen mode with the Info drawer at the right.
4 - either set the rating of the photo to one that you can use to group in a smart album (Command-1 for 1 star, Command-2 for 2 starts, etc.) or add a keyword that can also be used to group the photos in a smart album.
5 - use the right or left arrow keys on the keyboard to move to the next or previous photos.
6 - when complete go to the smart album and drag the photos into a regular album.

  • Downloaded the recent update, now I cannot sync photos nor view my photos on my phone.

Downloaded the recent update, now I cannot sync photos nor view my photos on my phone. Push the photo app button and it pops up then off.

    Try this:
First create an empty folder...no photos in it...now, connect your phone and under the photos tab select sync photos & select this folder. Since there is nothing in it, no photos will be added to your phone, but hopefully this will remove the photos that are on your phone.

  • Rate & Delete photos during slideshow in iPhoto '09 (8.1.1)

Generally, I like the new iPhoto. One thing I HATE is that I cannot find a way to delete or rate photos during a slideshow. In the last version, one option was a trash can, another was a rating. I use the slideshow to see the best, full screen detail of the photo. If it doesn't pass that test, I delete it. I can't find a simple convenient way to do that now. Am I missing something?

Yes, I can do that. It means I have to click on EVERY SINGLE PHOTO and again to move between photos in order to cull photos. A joy of digital photography is the ability to take lots of shots and choose to keep the best. In the old version it was wonderfully easy to use the slideshow to rate and delete photos right from a "last import." I had to click only once to do it and only on photos I wanted to rate or get rid of. I was hoping there might be a way that I wasn't finding in the new version. What I'm hearing is that a really valuable feature of the old version has been eliminated.

  • Hiding Photos - well not really.

Seems to me that the essential purpose of "hiding photos" is confused by how iPhoto is doing this - unless of course, I am misunderstanding something.
    Can someone please clarify.
If I want a few photographs to not appear in my general iPhoto library, how do I place these elsewhere - say a new folder - without the current sign in the upper right hand corner announcing, "6 more hidden" - which essentially defeats the very purpose; instead of hiding them, these pictures are now front and center announced as being hidden! Can one place photos in a separate folder for example, while deleting them from the main library? (When I try this, the pictures get deleted both from the new folder and the main library.)
Curious what others are doing with this.
    Thanks,
    John.

The only way to completely hide and protect photos for others who have access to your computer is to put them in their own separate library and put that library in a password protected disk image file.
Or, create a separate user account for the others and password protect your account. Let them create and user their own library in their own account.

  • Hiding photos in all views

In iPhoto I have many photos that I keep hidden for personal reasons but this doesn't work in Photos, particularly when viewing in Album mode which is my preferred way of viewing. It seems that it only works in Moments (having just installed OS X 10.10.3) and it makes Photos unusable for me as I don't want younger members of my family seeing the hidden photos when switching views. Pretty stupid really - just my humble opinion.

No it's not possible in v6 It is possible in v8. But how secure do you want the hiding to be? The hiding in v8 is simply removing from view and is simple to return pics to visible. If you want security a second library - ideally on a password protected dmg - is the way to go.

  • Photos constantly re-rendering during viewing.

    Hi all,
Since upgrading to Aperture 3, I've noticed that clicking through the photos in my project causes the "loading" indicator to come up for every photo. This used to happen in the Aperture 2, but once the photo loaded once, it was as if the system created a permanent full-size preview of it so it never needed to load again. In Aperture 3, on the other hand, photos load and re-load almost every time I visit them, whether within the same working session or after closing and reopening the app. It's as if the app is throwing out what it renders every time.
This is also an issue when working in Zoom to Actual Size view, as I pan around the image every area I stop on is fuzzy and must re-render. This cripples my workflow and makes it take absurdly long to check out each image.
Does Aperture no longer save the renders of images? I have "Don't limit" selected for photo preview size in preferences. In 2, that seemed to cause the app to render a permanent full-res version of each photo so I could happily zip through them.
I'm on a first gen MacBook, 2GHz Core Duo with 2GB Ram, I know that is hardly ideal (waiting and waiting and waiting for Mac Pros to be refreshed!) but the last version of Aperture worked really well and Photoshop is still quite fast. My OS is 10.6.4 and all updates to Aperture are applied.
    Any clues?

Aperture 3 caches a handful of rendered images as you browse around, but I think how many it keeps around is subject to the amount of free RAM it has to work with. Depending on what else is going on in your system (and Aperture itself gobbles more RAM than before) the program may be caching fewer images than it used to, requiring "Loading..." them from disk more often. It likely discards Least Recently Used images when its cache limit is reached.
Is browsing in Quick Preview mode poky as well? If so, as part of the library upgrade to Aperture 3, your preview images may have been regenerated at a larger size - I've heard of stranger things happening in A2-A3 library upgrades. Larger previews will obviously take longer to load and slow you down and the ones in your library may be bigger than necessary for your MacBook display. I've found the best sharpness for preview images comes when you hit about 130% of your display's resolution and I knock the Quality setting down to an acceptable 7 to reduce file size.

  • Hiding photos in library

I've got about 2000 photos in the iphoto library.
There are many that I wish to hide--i.e. would like to keep, not delete, but not have to look at as I scroll through my library.
Is this possible in iphoto 6?
Should I upgrade to '08 or get a 3rd party app like iphoto library manager to create another library?
    many thanks

  • Hiding Photos

When a photo is "maximized" within the iPhoto window, as you are viewing it, there is the option to Hide that particular photo. However, when you click Hide, it simply minimizes the one you just hid and goes back to thumbnail view, it would be better if it stayed in "full view" while you are scrolling through your images in full view and hiding the ones you wish to hide.

SOunds like a good idea -- submit to Apple - iPhoto menu ==> iPhoto feedback
