Hiding songs in Library, without Deleting?

Hey guys,
So here's the deal. My iTunes library is pretty massive, but some of the stuff is comedy CD's. Some of them are things like 100 30 second tracks, which causes them to come up a lot.
I was wondering if there's any way to hide them in my library? Or move them to a different library or something?
If I were to just delete them off my computer and delete them off iCloud, would I be able to recover them? I purchased all the comedy CD's off of iTunes.
And if that won't work, any other solutions to this problem?
Thanks!
Cheers,
Matthew

The only real solution is to delete the tracks from the iTunes library (but not from the HDD). You can also move them tracks to a different iTunes library but then you'd be switching back and forth between them.
If you also delete the files off your computer and the tracks from the cloud the only way to recover them will be from a backup. So you must keep a current backup.

How to delete duplicate songs from libary without deleting them from playlist or other devices

I'm with you verm71; it's not entirely clear how Apple is expecting you to manage this.  I'm going on vacation soon and want to clean up my phone so that it's nice and empty for the new pictures.  There doesn't seem to be a way to do this without losing your pictures in the new Photos as well.  If imported, it's impossible to see which is the Cloud version and which is the Local version.  It's very annoying.
I've also noticed in iPhoto you used to have the ability to locate the original of the picture inside the photo database.  That option is not provided in Photos, making finding the original extremely difficult.
It seems to be a great, well-oiled system.  But I would love to know how Apple envisions the typical workflow for archiving...

  • When I upload any photos from iphoto or a folder it overwrites all the existing photos. is there a way to add to the existing library without deleting what's already in the library?

When I upload photos from iphoto or any other folder it overwrites all the existing photos in my ipad. is there a way to add to the existing library without deleting what's already in the library?

No, apart from using the emailing them, to yourself or using a third-party app such as Simple Transfer (in which case the photos will only go into the Saved Photos/Camera Roll album) or the camera connection kit (Imported album). You need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad in one go, as only the contents of the most recent sync remains on the iPad - not including photos in a sync is how you delete them from the iPad

  • New hard drive, cannot transfer music stored on my shuffle to new library without deleting.  Please help

Can anyone help please, I have a window xp computer and had to instal a new hard drive.  I am unable to sync the music on my shuffle with the new library without deleting what is on the suffle.  Cannot afford to delet what is on the shuffle as it not only music.
Would it be possible to burn the music on my shuffle onto a CD, transfer it to the new library and back to my shuffle?

That sounds vaguely like you need to authorize your computer.
Even thought it's the same 'puter, Apple doesn't know that due to the reformatting.

  • Get songs on my ipod to my library without deleting them all

    Hi,
I went to my friends house and got his songs on my ipod, but when i got home to update the songs on my itunes library it deleted all my songs on my ipod.
I need to know how to get my songs from my friends house to my library and keep the songs on my ipod without erasing them.

There are some programs you can download specifically for that purpose. Don't know how you erased it, you mustv'e done something wrong. Search for those programs on the internet on a search engine like google.
NOTE: This is not supported by Apple and could screw your iPod.

  • Removing unchecked songs from ipod, without deleting the files from itunes?

I want to remove a large amount of songs from my ipod, without deleting them from my itunes.
I unchecked them all in itunes, but accidentally synced my ipod without selecting "Sync only checked songs." But now when I sync it--even with that box checked-- it leaves all the unchecked songs on my ipod.
I can't seem to just go into the music on my ipod and delete them either.
Is there anyway I can automatically remove all the unchecked songs from my ipod without deleting them from itunes?
(I know I can manually choose what to sync, but it would be a massive headache to go through 30 gigs of music to select the 20 I want on there....)

    Hey Emily,
So the *Sync only checked songs and videos* option is still ticked from under your iPod's Summary tab correct? If so, what options do you have ticked from under the Music tab for your iPod? If it is set to only sync *Select Artists, Playlists, and Genres* try changing that to sync your entire music library. Then make sure to hit the Apply button to update the changes to your iPod.
    Any luck there?

  • Syncing photo's from iphoto adds another 'photo library' without deleting 'camera roll' photo

    Hi there,
I found that I can add photo's (without deleting my existing camera roll) to my Iphone 4 from my girlfriends mac to my iphone by syncing from iphoto and selecting the photo events or folder I want. Then pressing 'apply' adds a new photo library to my phone with these selected pics in them. In this cercumstance I can only delete these photos using the same process by de-selecting them in 'sync from iphoto' and again pressing 'apply' There is no function / icon in my actual iphone to delete this library or even individual photo.
However when I try this exact same process on my girlfriends Iphone 4 (same model) the 'apply' function threatens to delete all photos from her phone, leaving her with ONLY the ones selected / checked.
Just in case it is part of explaining this I have tried this logged in on my account and hers but both have the same results in every combination. There appear to be two different set of rules going on here within I-tunes I would prefer to be able to add photo's without deleting existing ones but I would also like to be able to selectively delete these photo's once on my phone without going back to connect to tha mac.
Can anyone explain if this is possible or am I asking for 'my cake AND eat it' ?
Why are ther differences in our phones governing rules in Itunes?

Thanks Winston, you are correct "sync". In fact I found the answer in a slightly different way. There is a check-box in the photo's tab that provides for syncing photo's before any media. Therefore this will in fact create the necessary space on the ATV for the photo's by moving other media content from syncing to streaming.
Of course the alternative, as you point out is to limit what actually gets synced in custom sync.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.

  • How can I download songs from my library without deleting existing songs

I have just imported a CD into my itunes library. I then manually tried to import only the songs from the CD onto my ipod .I did this by selecting the manual update option to only import selected songs. However after the songs were loaded, the previous songs on my ipod were no longer there. Can anyone help

    Oi! Lou!
You can't load songs from a CD straight to your iPod. You must first rip them into iTunes and then transfer to your iPod. Also, if you want to transfer songs manually to iPod, make sure that you are not set up for automatic sync with iTunes.
    Good luck,

  • IPhone would not let me delete individual song from library, tried deleting album to remove music from local storage, now certain songs from album do not show in iTunes match on iPhone only on computer

Upon completion of matching and uploading my very large library of music (+15,000), I wanted to see how iTunes Match worked on my iPhone. I started it and selected the first album in the list to listen to. I let it play the entire album and then decided that I wanted to remove certain songs off of the iPhone's local storage. Tried to delete the individual songs and it would not let me. So I figured that I would go back and just delete the album. After selecting delete I went back to listen to one of the songs on the album and realized that it deleted several of the songs from the iTunes Match completely. When pulling iTunes up on my computer the songs are still there but does not give me the option to upload to iTunes Match.
I have tried turning off Match on iPhone and back on (doesn't seem to do anything cause when turned off the iPhone still displays the music.)
Then tried power cycling. (Still shows the music)
Then I tried power cycling again and resyncing the phone and the iPhone still shows the music as it was on the phone.
How do I get the music to be accessable on the iPhone again.. I have been messing with this for the course of 3 hours now.. and any help would be appreciated!!
    iPhone 3GS 8GB

Actually Michael I know exactly how to delete.. The iPhone would not let me swipe to the left to delete the individual song, so I went to the album view and did it there.. The issue I am having is a bug because it removed 3/4 of the albums availablity off my iPhone.. You post proved no help because it is basic troubleshooting which, if you read my post, I have already done.. I did however figure out how to fix my issue on my own.. Basically I had to remove the album from my iTunes on my computer and upload it again to iTunes Match..

  • Deleting songs from library not deleting from hard drive

I've read some other people with this problem, and haven't found a good answer.
I had iTunes on my old XP computer, and when I would delete a song from my iTunes library it would give me the option to also send the actual file on my HD to the recycle bin. Since I get a new computer, Windows 7, installed iTunes and copied all my music over, this option does not appear. I'll right click a song, click 'delete', and it'll just remove it from the library. I'd like the option back to actually delete the song from my computer, as well. Any thoughts?

    Doesn't work, don't know why.
I am having the same problem. I think someone in the family selected "Keep files," when I want them deleted. Tried twice resetting the warnings, but it just asks me am I sure I want to delete the file, not if I want to send it to the trash.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Ben

  • Remove images from library without deleting referenced files

    Hi,
I cannot find solution: how do I remove images from Aperture library completely (all versions, etc), but keep the referenced master files? (all my images are kept outside aperture lib, as referenced masters).
If I delete all versions and projects, they go to Trash, and attempting to empty the Trash brings only two options: delete permanently and move to system Trash. But I do not want to touch the referenced masters in any way. Is there a way to keep them safe, while emptying Aperture of all references to those files?
    Thanks.

If the originals are referenced when you empty the Aperture trash the confirm box will have a checkbox asking yf you also want to move the referenced originals to the system trash.
If you do not select this option the referenced originals are left where they are. If you of not see this option in the confirmation box then the originals in the Trash are not referenced.

  • How do you keep songs on ipod without deleting them I NEED HELP

my comp was recently reset so i lost all my songs
how do i transfer my songs on my ipod back to the itunes library
    pc   Windows XP

    Check out the instructions/suggestions here.
    Music from iPod to computer.
There's also another method I've seen posted. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
However it appears that no playlists or any other info such as ratings/last played etc will transfer.
If this is important to you, you may want to use other options.
There's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer.
