Hiding URL in Blog Search results

Is there a preference or workaround to remove or hide the entry URL shown after performing blog searches?
TIA

I assume there must be some an obscure editable setting in one of the css files for the blog or archives. Any ideas on which one would affect the URL?
TIA

  • URL of BCS search results start with bdc3://

    Hello,
I am using sharepoint BDC in Sharepoint 2013. I have created profile page and given permissions. I configured search. I have full crawled 2-3 times and incremental crawl. I found total records crawled are more than total record in sql database.
When I checked I found 2 records start with "bdc3://".
Please let me know how to prevent crawling the url starting with bdc3://.
    Thanks,
    Lovkesh Patel

    Hi Lovkesh,
According to your description, my understanding is that you do not want to crawl the contents start with bdc3:// in SharePoint 2013.
I recommend to create Crawl Rules with bdc3://* as the path to exclude the content start with bdc3:// from crawling in Search Service Application to see if the issue still occurs.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • Blog Searches not working properly

I am using the blog format for part of my website. When I use search it works great, except, when you click on the link to where your result is located it takes you to a site that doesn't exist. I think this is because I am using www.dougsQCcollectibles.com as my address, but the site is actually located at the .mac address. Is there a way to get search to link to the page at the .mac address rather than the mask at my purchased domain name?

I have the same experience. I have successfully setup a personal domain forwarding but the blog search results points to a not working URL.
Looking at this URL I think the search function gives the correct URL, but the URL forwarding does not work for deep links.
    Anyone having the same problem?

  • Google search result causing spry error on webpage

I have a webpage with some dynamically generated spry elements. The webpage seems to work as is should and generates no errors. However, when the page is accessed through a Google search the page generates the following error...
Caught exception in Spry.Data.Region.prototype.evaluateExpression() while evaluating: {ds_RowID} == {ds_CurrentRowID} Exception:SyntaxError: invalid object initializer
This error is being caused by Google generating malformed URL in its search results; like the following...
    mywebpage.php?row={ds_RowID}
I suspect that this error is being caused because the link is being generated by JavaScript which Google is having difficulty interrupting. Is there a way that I can fix this and make Google interpret the link correctly?
    Thanks

OK I think that I have found the problem. On the first page of my website I have the following Spry element.
    <div spry:state="ready">
                <h4 spry:repeat="dsNews"><a href="mywebpage.php?row={ds_RowID}">{Caption}</a></h4>
                <p spry:repeat="dsNews">{Front_Page} <a href="mywebpage_2.php?row={ds_RowID}">read more ></a></p>
    </div>
This is where Google must be picking up the link. My question now is how do I properly link the elements on my first page to correct Spry data elements the supporting page, so that the page keeps functioning like is now does.
    Thanks again for your help.
Example of first page of website that links to the supporting page.

  • SharePoint 2013 public facing site - need to mask url in search results

Hi, we have sp2013 public facing site. Can we mask the display url in search results? Actually we are pointing two urls(ex: A & B) to same web application. Search results are already crawled based on A URL, so when people search in  browsing 'B'
URL search results is giving URL with 'A' site. Please let me know if anyone have possible solution.
Can we have more than one url for internet zone in AAM? i browsed in blogs most of them say it is not possible.
    Thanks,

  • Search Results not working as expected with Site.URL Filter

I have a page (SharePoint 2013 - Foundation) with a search Results web part. In that web part I have added a filter to limit the results to the specific site (and it's children). So my Query text is:
    {searchboxquery} Path:{Site.URL}*
This works.. except for one thing. I'm guessing here but I think the "Site.URL" is returning the site that contains the search results page and not the site that actually started the search!
What I'm trying to do is mimic the default search behavior where a search only contains results from the current site down. So for example
    \sites\mySite\mySubSite
If I'm on mySite and search, I should get everything from mySite + mySubSite. However if I am in the mySubSite when I search, I should only get results from mySubSite and NOT the parent mySite.
    Added info:
the actual 'search center' is at the \sites\mysite level. Per MS documentation it states that {Site.URL} is the site from where the query was issued. To me that means that if I am on \mysite\mySubSite and initiate the search there, that it should only include
results mySubSite which it is not doing
Here is a screen shot.. I should not be getting any hits

    Hi,
In SharePoint 2013, we could configure Result source to limit searched to certain content or to a subset of search results. This would be equal to a new search scope in SharePoint 2010.
    For your reference:

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/tothesharepoint/archive/2012/10/09/build-a-specialized-search-experience-in-minutes-with-sharepoint-2013.aspx
Using sample below will limit search result in subsite:
    {searchTerms} path:http://sp/sites/mysite/subsite

  • Is there a difference between URL of search results in chrome vs. IE?

Preview Images of images that comes from file share are not displayed in Chrome (while they do display in IE).
In order to check i tried to set hard coded  in the search results display template a sample link as
    file://dev-sp-2013/test/box_galley_up.GIF
Still it is displayed only in IE and not in Chrome (but when open Chrome and copy that URL - it opens the picture).
Any solutions?should i add any manipulation to the Image URL variable (in the display template)  in order to display in in Chrome?

    Hi keren,
Since the issue only occurs to third party browser, there might be compatibility issue, I'd suggest you contact their support engineer for sufficient resource and professional assistance. For your convenience:

  • Search Results web part - Custom Query using "Value with a parameter from URL" inconsistent

I have encountered what I think may be a bug, but I am hoping that there is something that I am missing.
Within my search site, I have created a new search results page where I want to customize the "Search Results" web part query.  I can add in any number of property and keyword filters (using the "Build Your Query" dialog) without
issue... until I add a filter that uses the QueryString property (the builder dialog calls this "Value with a parameter from URL").
If I use {QueryString.MyParameterX} for filtering, it works beautifully in the query builder dialog.  I see the expected results in the search results preview pane, but as soon as I apply the changes things become inconsistent.
If I close/reopen my browser and navigate to my page at http://myaddress/search/Pages/testresults.aspx?MyParameterX=test I see results.  If I then refresh the page, I get a "Nothing here matches your search" message.  I can then go to
the same address but change one character to an uppercase character and get results.  Refreshing that same page again returns "Nothing here matches your search".  I can only get search results one time per uniquely cased URL without having
to close/reopen my browser.  This behavior was seen on both Firefox and IE.
Finally, I found that if I instead navigate to http://myaddress/search/testresults?MyParameterX=test, it always returns results.  This, unfortunately isn't the best solution for me... but it is a solution.
Any insight that anyone can provide is greatly appreciated!  I would really like to be able to depend on this working in all logical cases (especially since the search center of other sites is set using the path all the way down to /Pages).
    Thanks!

Hi, have you been able to solve this issue? I'm getting the same issue and I cant solve it (required CU is installed).

  • Address bar URL produces search results vs. going to site.

There are two identities on my desk top. Until today, both worked the same when a URL was typed into the address bar.....I would go directly to the site. Now on one of the identities, instead of going to the website, it give search results. Some setting was obviously changed and I can't seem to determine how to reset to go directly to website. FF 4.0.1. Thank you. pinger

    Hi-
I decided to take the path of least resistance to avoid spending any more time than necessary on my "issue." I took FF4 off my computer and reloaded FF3.6.7....with no joy. I STILL am not able to have just a plain, old internet address bar in which if I type an internet URL I am taken directed to that web site....the the website address stays in the bar so I can hyperlink it, send it, copy it, etc. I don't get it.

  • Display blog post author description and photo in search results

anyone found a way to do this in BC?

But that will pull up the detail view in the search results rather then that layout and the link will be to the web app Mario
So you would get staff up but you would have to rethink it work on a full Bio page for them if you wanted them to show up in search results.
Other option is to not use the BC search Luke but integrate a google search for your site. It will search the pages content (all of it) and that would also include the Bio. BUT this would be in the google search results and not show that information in the results view, it would just pick up that information.
The ajax thing I mentioned was to loop through the results, read them, if they were blog posts go Ajax fetch from the links page and find the Author information from that and then inject it into the result. It would be seamless (small flicker, slow down the page load a bit) but it would work.
The effort though to do that, bit to much for the results gained.

  • Disallow URLs by robots.txt but still Appear In Google Search Results.

disallow URLs by robots.txt but still Appear In Google Search Results.

Can you expand on your problem? Are you being indexed despite not wanting to be indexed?
You are almost certainly in the wrong forum as this relates to SharePoint search, not how Google indexes your content.

  • Apple TV hiding YouTube search results

I just got my AppleTV 2 weeks ago, I am so frustrated, I wish it worked as seamless as my MacBook and my iPhone. I always have to reboot it and sometimes it just stops working!
Anyways I wanted to ask if anyone else is having issues with AppleTV hiding YouTube search results.
For example if I search La Roux - Bulletproof on YouTube (online, web browser) I get the official video, on AppleTV I get whole bunch of other videos BUT the official. And this is not the only one. A lot of my YouTube favourites do not appear either.
I am under the impression that they hide the videos that are for sale on the iTunes store. If that is the case it makes me feel extremely deceived. They shouldn't market the YouTube functionality then. I hope I am the one not operating it properly.
Is there a way around this?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I've noticed this same issue myself but believe that it's driven not by Apple or YouTube as companies but instead by the unique YouTube user and whether or not they elect to have that video available on mobile devices, etc. at the time of upload.
Case in point, I've got some YT vids in which I declined upon upload to make them available on mobile devices which resulted in their not being available(or even visible) on aTV.
There's a wealth of info on this forum with all the savvy members. I'm sure someone else will chime-in and shed some more light on the subject.

  • Hiding Topics From Search Results

I have about 7 different types of users that require
different and private set of documentation. My plan is to use
conditional build tags to deliver a help set for each user. I'm
delivering noncontext-sensitive help and via batch processing.
Later I'll ensure that each help set is context-sensitive, and have
the product call the correct one. I'm trying uncover flaws in my
architecture. I'd like to streamline if possible.
What's cool is that my product's interface has built-in
profiling, so the product already knows what windows/tabs (context)
the user can access. Seems like a perfect way to deliver
context-sensitive help for all my users. But, can I do so with just
    ONE help set?
I can disable TOC, but one thing I can't figure out: How
would I prevent users from seeing private content launched via the
search engine? I'm just trying to figure out how to use only one
help set and still restrict content. Unlikely, right?

There's another way to do this:
    1. Move all the screen capture topics to a new (secondary)
    project.
    2. Create a new CHM file from the secondary project.
    3. In your primary project, open each link to a screen
capture image. In each case, the Hyperlink dialog will appear.
    4. Open the
Link to drop-down menu, and then select
    Remote Topic.
    5. Navigate to the secondary CHM file.
    6. Select the desired topic from the secondary CHM file.
    7. When you are finished, generate a new CHM file from your
primary project. The secondary topics will
not appear in your search results.
I found this in the RH Help files or the Knowledge Base; I
don't remember which. Also, if you don't want to repeat these steps
for each link, you can edit one link, copy the code from the
TrueCode pane, and use a find-and-replace feature to replace the
old code with the new target. That should cut down the time
    tremendously.
(FWIW, I use drop-down hotspots when I show such captures at
    all.)
