Hierachy

Hi Experts,
We have a R3 report which is displayed across cost center group hierarchy. Based on the values entered the report is displaying against the cost center group hierarchy wise...i have few doubts here
1) Is the cost center group in R3 same as the cost center with the hierarchy loaded in BI side....? or it is different and is there any cost center group seperate infoobject in BI side ?
2) If it is same means the cost center group in R3 is same as cost center with hierarchy.... In R3 i some how came to know one node of the cost center group and ran the report say example 'DC'. The report is shown across the DC hierarchy....Now in BI i have a diff hierachy which is diff from the one in R3.
I checked in KSH1 in R3 for this node and this exactly matches with the cost center group hierarchy used in report .But i have entirely different hierarchy in BI side.
I heard that there can be mutliple hierarchies in R3 for a single infoobject , so is the one which we loaded into BI side is wrong ? If so how do we come to know the name of the hierarchy which is used in R3 side and how accordingly we could bring it into BW side.
I think i am clear..can any one shed some light

I have one more doubt.As you said
Check the Top node in R3 for a hierarchy and the same will be name in BI hierarchy
and when group taken as CA10000001 the same name will be hierachy in BI side.
So i have found that one in infopackage and have loaded the same in BI side. At the query designer level i have selected this hierarchy .
My doubt here is when user has given another node then in BI side it will be avialble because the hierarchy will be different for that. Then at the query desginer how can i select which one we have to go
Do i need to a create seperate query for the hierarchy ...Am i clear ? Can you share ur thoughts..

with MCK1 you create hierarchies for MM areas. These hierarchies cannot be used within Report Painter.

Passing hierachy node variable from BW to BO Webi Report in open doc link

Hello All,
We are working on BW-BO integration and creating Webi reports based on Bex queries.
The question is regarding passing of a hierachy node value from BW to BO through open doc link.
I see that when we pass hierarchy node value, we have to associate that with the corresponding infoobject technical name in the link but not sure in what format it has to be sent.
For example, if ARM is the node value and 0HIERNODE is the infoobject , how should we send this value to BO.
Please help.

You cannot change anything here. You should really find out how the values are retrieved from the database
THere is another option:
1) Activate the tracing on your BOBJ server
Check the following SAP notes (http://service.sap.com/notes) for that:
Unix: Note 1235111
Windows: Note 1260004
2) Run your WebI report from the InfoView by choosing first the desired hierachy node value from the LOV of your prompt.
3) Extract the MDX statement from the log file. It should contain the value for the hierarchy node. Copy this to the URL
It is easier to find this out if you have access to a Crystal Reports Designer installation. Do you?

Fact table enriched with hierachy information

Hi Guys,
I have a fact table design question.
The fact data table (oracle10g) on bottom level RelationshipManager (RM) contains the data columns
for the RM dimension:
FACT TABLE
ID¦RM¦DEPARTMENT¦AGENCY¦REGION¦SALES
1---23--Bronx------------NY---------US-------23232
2---24 ---------------------NY---------US-------87878
3---25-----------------------------------US------ 9999999
This means the fact has been enriched with hierachy information, this is not whats usually done.
Why have I done it? Because the RM is not necessarily always part of a department BUT can also
be directly placed under an agency or a region (agency or region leads).
Have I made the right choice by chosing to enrich the fact table? I could have also build a snow flake
schema by storing hierachy information in a seperate table.

with your problem, it might be best to split the dimension into multiple dimensions or multiple attribute dimensions with default values where you do not have a value for example set up RM with a N0_RM and when you don't have data load it there. If I'm looking at this correctly, the problem it appears you have is you have an inconsistent hierarchy. where the rollups can change. having them in the same dimesion would be problematic. If therewere consistancy then you could add members into a single hierarchy something like
US
--No_State
--NY
-----Bronx
------RM23
------No_RM
but from your example I don't see it. If they are seperate dimensions(not attribute dimensions) then you could load based on date. If they are attribute dimensions, then look at varying attributes

Parent Child Hierachy Revenue Rollup Issue

Hi All,
I have modeled my parent child hiearchy in such a way that revenue for each parent is equal to sum of his revenue and all his descendents. So If this my table
Empname|Revenue
David|100
James|25
Terry|30
this is what my hierachy shows
--David(155)
---James(25)
---Terry(30)
Now this is working perfectly fine and this is how users want it to be. To roll up the revenue for all the descendents uptil the top level.
The issue is, users also want to see what revenue David contributed. Because, as per the above example, when they try to add 25(James) + 30(Terry), it comes to 55 and the revenue contributed by David (100) becomes implicit and David straightaway shows 155. So they want to have a small pop up or any other column in the report which bifurcates David's revenue with others just to add more sense to David's revenue of 155.
Is there any workaround which could be done in the same report or do I have to create a separate detail report ?

Thanks Dpka, I did exactly that, there is a small issue. Let's say my hierarchy is (I have just dded one more level under David). So James and Terry reports to Thomas and Thomans reports to David.

David is the top level and Thomans the next level. Now when I click on David, it takes me to the target report and shows me the revenue as expected but when I click on either Thomas, James or Terry, it doesn't take me to the target report. At the bottom left it shows me an error. This is what the error is
Message: 'getLevelInfo(...)' is null or not an object

Code: 0

So It is working only for the top level managers whose doesn't have any anscestor. Any ideas why is tha so?

A problem in WEBI with the hierachy After updated to BO 4.1 sp03

IN the BW , I have a hierachy Char. in my Qeury. I build a OLAP connection to BO, then created a webi with BEX.
In the old BO (version 4.0 SP 03) is OK. but when updated to new BO (version 4.1 SP 03). The hierachy in prompt can't be unfold. like this
but if i input "*" to search . there is no different.
in the 4.1 sp 03 if i deleted the hierachy in the prompt.when i get into the webi(with data),then, i added a filter with the hierachy. It's OK, too.
WHY???? and how can i resolve the problem.

Show-stopper How can I determine tab hierachy from ids in wwpob_page$

I have application components published as portlets that depending on the particular page/tab combination perform various functions.
I am able to get the page_url from my report components published as portlets through p_page_url.
The URL obviously keeps track of which particular tab was last active
page?_pageid=54,93,62,68,86,98
I know the table wwpob_page$ contains these id values.
I need to be able to determine how the tab hierachy is determined.
Such that how one can determine which tabs can exist under a parent tab and so on based on the id.

I know I could "hard-code" id values to determine which particular tab I am currently on.
I want to be able to use tab "friendly" names.

My code needs to be robust enough so that if new tabs are added, I can still decipher the URL!!!
Can someone also tell me how the URL is built and what determines the order of tab_ids?

See I wrote the steps as they were in "Adobe Help" so please forget about the last comment.
I chose the "advanced mode" because I have more than one menu to filter (shape and color)
lets say I want the comments on my website to be displayed conditionaly, and I have two lists one for colors (blue and pink) and other for shapes (square and circle),
So I'm going to have four pages each page has its own recordset, let's say now I want to filter the recordset for (Blue Circle) page
I don't know how to do it but by following the steps in Dreamweaver help:
-Select name, and click the Select button.
-Select content, and click the Select button.
-Select shape, and click the Where button.
-Select section, and click the Where button.
-Select time, and click the Order By button.
this is how the SQL statement look likes:

How to preserve manually maintained Hierachy?

How to preserve manually maintained Hierachy in parenth1. We are maintaining some much data manually for BPC only with hierarchy. Problem is every time when we load the hierarchy from BW system the manually maintained hierarchy gets wiped out.
We don't want to maintain BPC only hierarchy as seperate parenth2. I read this article Understanding how to Preserve Manually maintained Alternate Hierarchies with the new BPC Data Manager Package to Load from BW Hierarchies but this is maintaining as seperate parenth2 or 3.
Please suggest.

You can not maintain the hierarchy in BPC and load from BW, it will be wiped out every time.
What we did was that we created a new custom hierarchy in BW with the extra nodes.

I see. but if I setup profit center hierachy first, then I got to redo the same for Cost Center. I thought I could do the Cost center first, then copy them to profit center since there's a "copy cost center group" function in profit center accounting.
Can I deactivate the profit center accounting since each time I skip the profit center entry during cost center creation, the following message pop up?
"Profit Center Accounting active but no profit center specified (CCtr 1110)"

I have a requirement in my report to display 0ORGUNIT structure. in my ODS,0ORGUNIT infobject is not available.But many info objects are available with reference of 0ORGUNIT.

Sales Organization CRM
CRM Sales Office
CRM Sales Group.
Service Organization CRM.
In my report, if i put any one of this above objects, Can i get 0ORGUNIT Hierachy Structure.

If these objects are using 0ORGUNIT as reference ,,,u can get the same hierarchy structure...because they maintain same master data...
But tf they contain only template... then it is not possible because we maintain separate master data here..

Report Designer - IO Hierachy

Hi all,
I created a query and executing this. The Picture is okay.
When i open the Query in Report Designer there open as a hierarchy at the first InfoObject for example HOUSE. The InfoObject HOUSE has hierachy in the master data. The data are show displaced.
I don`t know why? Please help me. We used the Report Designer with SPS 12 and Sap Gui 640.

The data shows for following example:
House Date Time Text1 Text2 Text3 and so on. (that`s the header)
4711
The data are beginning under the house in the first cell of the row and the rest of this row is blank. The next data (Date) is showing in the second row in the second column and the first cell of the second row is blank and after the second cells of this row the cells are blank. The time data is showing in the third row in the third column and blank cells as above.

Performance impact with Parent Hierachy 2 and a new dimension

I have a Consolidation requirement for which I have two solutions. These are:
Sol A>> Create a new dimension for reporting on accounts.
Sol B>> Create a new Parent Hierarchy in Account dimension.
Please help me on two open questions:
1. If comparing the performance, which solution is better?
2. Which solution has lesser impact on Business rules?

When you add a memeber into one dimension you have to added also into second dimensions if you are using two dimensions instead of one. So that's means you have doeble maintenance.
Business rules will not be impacted if you are using a second hierachy but it can have an impact in case when you will create a new dimension instead to use a second hierachy.

Stack trace gives line numbers when src is present in package hierachy?

does anyone know why the lines numbers of the source code are only given in exception traces when the source code is present alongside the class files in the package hierachy?
I'm guessing this is because there is not enough information in the class files alone?
in which case, how does it work with the source file present??

It has nothing to do with source code files... forget that idea completely.
However, it may be something to do with your just-in-time compiler.
At runtime, HotSpot might compile the java byte code ( solely in your class file ) into native/machine code and thus lose the line number information during that internal translation.
Try running your application with the -Xint parameter for java.exe. It will turn off the Just-in-time compiler so you should
get the line number information. ( assuming you compiled the class files with javac -g )

N Level Parent child hierachy (BO)
