Hierarchy expansion in workbook

Hi All,
I've a workbook which has two queries based on same cost center hierarchy. When I refreshed the queries it added a new node to one of them which doesn't have any values and not in the other query. The hierarchy in the system has this new node.
When I ran these queries separately in BEx analyzer both of them are not displaying that node.
They both need to be aligned with their results so the above situation disturbed the workbook formatting.
Can anybody tell me the reason behind this?

Hello Amit,
The addition of new node to only one of the query could be because, this query might contain the data for that node, whereas the other query might not have any data on that new node.
If you do not use this new node and want your output result to be aligned, you can restrict the hierarchy to only the required hierarchy nodes.

    Hi Teko,
    Thanks for the information.
    In that case, I think Active X has not been enabled in IE.
    Kindly follow the below step.
    In IE, Tools-> Internet Optios -> Security -> Security level -> Change it to medium or go to custom level -> and enable Active X

  • How to remove the triangle of hierarchy in Excel Workbook

    My user do not wnat the triangle after drill down a hierarchy from a query in Excel workbook, can any one tell me how to remove them? I want this as the user specific functionnality, not change my system setting for whole BI,   thanks in advance!

    this was an important information
    In BEx 3.5 just cut the triangle symbol and save workbook.
    I think there is an option in Querie Designer too, but i dont have it available anymore.
    I found this link here about presentation hierarchies. It could be that it suppresses the whole hierarchie but its worth a try:

  • Member selector hierarchy expansion

    Hi
    We have a problem that when we open the member selector from context (or by clicking context member formula) in EPM 10 excel, we are not able to click on the + mark to expand the hierarchy.  This happens once in a while (randomly).  It would occur in all dimensions.  Only way to get out of the problem is to close excel and reopen again.  But after sometime we would again face the same issue.
    We are on BPC 10 SP16.
    Detailed screen shots attached.
    Any inputs are really appreciated.

  • In BEx, how to display hierarchy Upper Node with selected Lower Nodes only

    Currently I am displaying the Cost Centre (GFL Responsibility Cost Centre) hierarchy in a workbook. I want to be able to filter on this hierarchy dynamically. E.g. the upper node must be displayed including the rolled up results for this node, together  with a selection of the lower nodes e.g 2 nodes ( not all the lower nodes related to the upper node must be displayed in the query).
    What's possible when filtering :
    To filter on the 2 lower nodes only ( results are displayed as required)
    Not possible:
    When I include the higher node of the 2 lower nodes in the query, All the lower nodes of the higher node are displayed, and the filter selection of the lower nodes are over written.
    This is logically what's expected when the higher node is included in the filter.
    Creating a hierarchy variable gives the same problem, I am not able to filter on the hierarchy nodes as required.

    Filter the report for UpperNode and LowerNode 2 & 3 only

    Do you want to show particular node or particular level ?
    If you want particular node , then create hierarchy node variable and restrict to that node ( 3rd node)
    If you want particular level, what does that mean  say i am taking employee hierarchy and the hierarchy is as below.
    Ihe setting that we have is to expand upto n levels but  if yiou say i need level 2 what does that mean and how do you want to show in report ?
           A -
    (level 1)
           B,C,D( --child of A ) --- level 2
              E(Child of B), F(Child of C)   -
    level 3.

  • Report Execution issues after cube comperssion

    Hi Everyone.
    We had performance issues with respect to report execution in SAP portal. After the analysis we have realised that the cube is growing in its size and reached 200 million already.
    As per SAP suggestion, we had compressed the cube and the reports started running faster than before.
    Now, after the release we have realised that some report executions with hierarchy expansion are caused exception in BEX web application.
    Below is the error that we receive
    When verified the query, we identified that  "Active" was set to "Suppress Zeros" query properties and when we modified it is " Active ( All values =0)" it was working fine.
    Could not figure out the reason behind this.
    Any quick response is much appreciated.

    Just wanted to help others on this issue if they face in future.
    We are basically in patch 3 and SAP recommended to upgrade the system to patch 10 to solve this issue.
    We are still in the process of doing this as it needs approvals, testing etc to be done.
    Hope this will be solved after this upgrade and I will post the result in this blog.

    There are two worksheet which data derives from two database views. The first
    workbook1 contains summary details while the other workbook2 contains breakdown
    information with hierarchy structure in the workbook2.
    Basically my questions:
    1) Can you use drill to details (From workbook1/worksheet into workbook2/worksheet )
    2) Will i be able to see the hierarchy structures in workbook 2/worksheet
    3) How do you use values from the summary workbook/worksheet as a default parameter to run

    You need an enclosure/adapter that acccpts a SATA drive and has a USB 2.0 interface to the host computer. There are plenty of them available.  I do business with NewEgg, so here's a link to some they sell, but I'm not trying to drum up any business for them.

              --> Check Maximum Discount in BP master Data
              --> Check the price list using by the document and discount percent in form setting of GRPO

    I am scheduling a workbook in precal,
    The work has nine queries with same hierarchy node variable in all teh query selection.
    The work book is taking long time in opening even when auto refresh is off.
    the precalculation takes 30000 sec and running...
    any thought on what can be done to reduce the calculation.

    As precalculation just automates the process of opening, refreshing and applying the variant on a workbook I would suggest trying to find improvements there. Perhaps the notes below can help.

  • Workbook Hierarchy Filters , causing crash and disconnect

    Hello everybody,
    I am having a problem refreshing workbooks that have a hierarchy node saved in the filter selection. The steps for recreating the issue are as follows,
    1. Create a query with a hierarchy relevant info object
    2. Filter the query using a hierarchy node
    3. After the query has refreshed , deactivate the hierarchy using the context sensitive menu (ie right click)
    4. Save the workbook
    5. Close the workbook
    6. Re-open the workbook and attempt to refresh the workbook, the following error is generated and Bex disconnects.
    "Abort System ... error in program SAPLRKKO and form  NACHLESEN_INIT_NODE-01-"
    I can understand why this might happen, given that the query is attempting to reach a hierarchy that is no longer active in the workbook, but I am surprised that the Bex Application allows a user to easily create and store a workbook definition that effectively renders itself corrupt.
    Has anybody encountered this is in the past, or does my GUI installation need attention. I'm also surprised that I can not find any SAP notes documenting this issue.
    As always any input would be greatly appreciated.

    What BW version and what add-in version are you using?  I have heard some similiar (although not identical) issues from a friend who recently upgraded to BW7.0, but is still using add-in from BW3.5.
    We can't figure out the exactly problem, but my theory is that the hiearchy information is stored (in the workbook) in a location that was not used in the older version.

    I have a problem, Im trying to copy information from specific cells on a query that I opened using Analyser, heres the situation:
    Account            Amount    New Col
    22110200           15 dlls
    -22110201          4 dlls
    -22110202          5 dlls
    -22110204          6 dlls
    121101010000   1dlls          4 dlls
    121101020000   1dlls          5 dlls
    121101040000   1dlls          6 dlls
    4,5 and 6 dlls are amounts from the first 3 accounts, I tried simpy copying the information but for some reaseon when the report reloads the informacion is lost.
    Also I using Hierarchy to display the values so if I copy the value from cell Q700 the value will change is the levels on the Hierarchy are expanded.
    Is there anyway to do this? please help.

  • Workbook - Excecl filter - hierarchy vs flat list selection

    Dear all,
    On query designer you can hardcode / filter a characteristic either by hierarchy node or characteristic value. The only requirement is to define the hiearchy as active for that characteristic. When filtering you are able to pick either hierarchy nodes on caracteristic values.
    However, once you apply the query on Excel and you want to apply Excel (navigation) filters you cannot select both but instead hierarchy nodes if hierarchy is active or characteristic values if hierarchy not active!
    I would expect filters to work in the same way on query designer and navigation (excel) filtering.
    Is this a bug? Please advise.

    I have found out that this is not supported on BW 3.1.

  • Multiple Queries in Workbook - Refresh Screen Shows Up for Every Query

    We have multiple queries in a workbook.  All of these queries have the exact same selections for the variable selection screen.  When all the queries are refreshed once, the selection screen used to show up once and all the queries are refreshed with the same selections.  
    We were on BI 7.0 and SP10.  We recently moved to SP12.  Since the SP12 installation, the multiple query refresh pops-up the selection screen for every query.  It is nothing like "multiple query refresh" at once since the user has to click "execute" button for every single query.  It is interesting to note that the selection screen only contains hierarchy variables and hierarchy node variables.  The other variables of selection screen do not show up.  I couldn't find any OSS note on this topic.  Please let me know if anyone has any comments on this issue.  I will assign points to useful posts.

  • How to giv diff varible values for all the queries in a Workbook?

    Hello BI Gurus,
              I have an issue with the variable in a the workbook,
    I have a workbook in which 4 queries are inserted in the same sheet one below the other and all these queries has same hierarchy variable (same technical name). In all these queries uses different hierarchies but same selection variable.
              Now the issue is , when I refresh the workbook the first queryu2019s variable pops up selection option for the hier variable and when I enter the value this first query runs fine but it carries the same value to another query and fails as the 2nd query uses diff hier.
    All I need is, is there any way by which these queries pop up selection screen separately for every query in workbook?

  • Dynamic Hierarchy - SAP BPC 7.5 MS

    Hello everyone. I am running SAP BPC 7.5 on the Microsoft Platform.
    The issue I am running into is that I have children entities that have two parent entities. The Entity Dimension has our traditional organization chart. However, our reports require an alternate hierarchy.
    Example:
    Company A is a child of Company ABC in the org chart
    however for reporting purposes
    Company A is a child of Company XYZ
    I need to pull in company XYZ in the report so that Company A is reported as being a part of it.
    I need to be able to set up something using a dimension property that will allow me to pull in this hierarchy into our reports, WITHOUT using expansions.
    The reason I cannot use expansions is some of the report will use the traditional org chart and the other portion of the report will use the alternate hierarchy.
    I there some way to do this without using expansions?
    I have setup a dimension property called "GROUP" that identifies the alternate hierarchy. However, the only way I know to pull it in the report is through the use of expansions in the "MembersSet" filter.
    I have also tried to use the "Dynamic Hierarchy Editor" only to discover that you have to define hierarchies for specific time periods, and still use expansions.
    Any suggestions? I feel like I am missing something.

    Hi Will,
    From what you describe I think an alternate (second/ H2) hierarchy is needed.
    You can try adding a second hierarchy to your Entity dimension member sheet (PARENTH2) to see if that meets your requirement.
    You can only create reports that have a hard-coded row or column key range or a dynamic row/column key range  defined in the memberset field.
