Hierarchy info object

Hi Experts,
I have an info object created in BI system and it has activated as master data info provider.Now i have a requirement to load the hierarchy through flat file, Whether do i have to create transfer rules , Data source , Info package and then follow that procedure .i heard we have to create transfer rules and all whenever we get the data source from R/3 system is that correct.
Can you please through some help regarding.

check the steps to create flatfile hirarchy, in BI 7.0 ( FOR HIRARCHIES USE 3.X )
1. Go to InfoProvider list. Search for your infoobject and drill down. You will get infoobject(Hierarchies) node.
Right click on it to create Transfer Rules.
2. In the next screen give the flat file source system name.
3. system creates the data source, under segment or fields tab, find 4 drill down options of segment.
4. you can find the flatfile structure,
5. activate the transfer rules.
6. create infopakage, under extraction tab load the file from client work station. select the csv file and data seperator is camma.
7. under hierarchy tab click create button and select the hirarchy name and select continue.
8. in processing tab, select update subsequently in data target.
9. save the infopak and schdule it and moniter.
10. Right click on the infoobject (Hierarchies) node and select Maintain Hierarchies and double click on it.
Your flat file structure is like this
NODEID, INFOOBJECT, NODENAME ,LINK, PARENTID, CHILDID, NEXTID, DATETO ,DATEFROM, LANGU ,TXTSH, TXTMD ,TXTLG

I am trying to upload the hierarchy data from R/3 system for Info Object Product Hierarchy.
Insted of business content info objects (0PRODH, 0PRODH1, 0PRODH2, 0PRODH3, 0PRODH4, 0PRODH5, 0PRODH6), we are using customized objects (ZPRODH, ZPRODH1, ZPRODH2, ZPRODH3, ZPRODH4, ZPRODH5, ZPRODH6).
In transfer rules the mapped is as specified below
Fields => Info Objects.
0ZPRODH1 => ZPRODH1
0ZPRODH2 => ZPRODH2
0ZPRODH3 => ZPRODH3
0ZPRODH4 => ZPRODH4
0ZPRODH5 => ZPRODH5
0ZPRODH6 => ZPRODH6
Now, when I schedule the Info Package, it is ending with an errors
"Node characteristic 0PRODH1 is not entered as hierarchy charactersitic for ZPRODH"
"Node characteristic 0PRODH2 is not entered as hierarchy charactersitic for ZPRODH"
"Node characteristic 0PRODH3 is not entered as hierarchy charactersitic for ZPRODH"
"Node characteristic 0PRODH4 is not entered as hierarchy charactersitic for ZPRODH"
"Node characteristic 0PRODH5 is not entered as hierarchy charactersitic for ZPRODH"

when i tried to load by flat file, there is no issues. But, flat file loading is not allowed for us.
Please let me know any possible solution to handle this issue.

Insted of using the info object 0PRODH1, we should use customized info object ZPRODH1 which I added already in the external characteristic in Hierarchy.

Loading Hierarchy from one info object to another

Hello friends,
I have Profit Center Managerial Hierarchy which is connected to R3 QAS. It is in the infoobject 0PROFIT_CTR. I want to load the same Hierarchy from 0PROFIT_CTR to BCS info object 0BCS_PRCTR. Is there any way to do it.

It's easier to load a new IO from the same datasource in R/3, not from 0PROFIT_CTR.

Tables While Creating Info Object

Hi Experts,
What are the tables created when we create and activate an Info Object. I Came to know that it will create 11 tables when we activate an Info Object what are they It was my Intv Question. are these 11 tables created automatically or with the user specifications?

         The number of tables depends on the charecteristics of the infoobject selected. if it has time dependent attributes or hierarchy
suppose an infoobject is product then we could have the following tables
     Product hierarchy table: /BIC/HProduct
      Product hierarchy SID table: /BIC/KProduct
      Product SID-structure hierarchy table: /BIC/IProduct
     Product master table for non-time dependent attributes (table name: /BIC/PProduct)
     Product master table for time dependent attributes (table name: /BIC/QProduct)
     Product SID table (table name: /BIC/SProduct)
     Product non-time dependent attribute SID table (table name: /BIC/XProduct)
     Product time dependent attribute SID table (table name: /BIC/YProduct)

How to load data from info object to ODS

Hello BW Gurus,
Is their any way to load data from info object to ODS and I am unable to fine the Info source for that particulate info object master data.
For ex: we have 0PROFITCENTER as info object which is getting loaded everyday. We want same data in ODS too but I don't find any info source related to this info object to create update ruled.
Please advise me how to proceed with this,

hi Swathi,
as mentioned, if you just need the master data text or attribute update, then it's sufficient to load 0PROFITCENTER master data. (don't forget to 'apply hierarchy/attribute change' - rsa1->tools)
if you are going to update attribute in ods with attribute from 0PROFITCENTER, you can choose look up master data attribute method in update rules.
if the requirement is really need 0PROFITCENTER to assign to update rules, then first you have to 'generate export datasource' for infoobject 0PROFITCENTER, right click the infoobject and 'generate export datasource', then do 'replicate datasource' from bw myself, after that it will available. to display it you may go to rsa1->infosource, and menu settings->display generated objects.

Master Data load from Info Object

Hello,
Iam tryting to load masterdata from info object using the standard package in 7.5 NW. My requirement is similar to the scenario 3b in the How to load masterdata doc(to prefix and strip the Compounding obj). This is the ssue i am currently facing.
1. When i validate the transformation file , I get an error saying "Duplicate member id'12345'
2. I have spaces in my node name. How am i supposed to give the technical name in the Member id field of the hiererchy tab in the data manager set selection options.
3. text nodes not getting converted to member values.
note: I am able to get past this with out giving the seletion for the hierarchy in the DM package and running the package succesfully ,but i dont see the text nodes getting converted to member values.
Please provide me some useful insights. had anyone had a similar issue??

Did you checked YES to import the Text Nodes ... and even the Short Text in Language Tab under the SET SELCTION of the info object.

Install Info Object 0BSTAT from business content

Hi Guys,
I am trying to install info object 0BSTAT from business content , i have selected the options
grouing "only necessary obects" "start automaticall" "Hierarchy" ad dragged info obect from left side into collected objects and selected the install and trasport option form Install, assigned the trasnport also, it didn't give any errpor message but info object is not getting activated.
An body had the expericence with this issue, please share you ideas how to fix the issue.

You onl have authroization to display info object 0BSTAT
I looked at the SU53 also there is one error message related to info object BSTAT
Currently aunthorization Field ACTVT Activit is "23"
Does this mean i don't have autorization to install of info obects, do wee need any special activity is required in the for installing info object
Please suggest me how to proceed.

How to remove constant asignemnt from 0FUNCT_LOC info object

how come that you have a hierarchy created on this IObj having a constant ?!?
did you really empty its master data? and SID table? check in the tables if this is really the case.
If you still have a hierachy (not empty), most likely you still have at least one entry in the SID table (/BI0/SFUNCT_LOC)
try deleting the hierarchy and ensure the /BI0/P and /BI0/S table are really empty.
then try to apply your change in RSD1.
If this still doesn't work please revert but I am still believing that you'll need to empty the datatargets as well; to answer your question: datatargets like cubes/ods won't have their data deleted...

Install info object from D version to A version

HI,
I am trying to install the infl objects from D version to A version. I have selected Grouping mode(Only necessary obects0 B default, Collection mode (Collect automatically) Didsplay (Hierarchy mode) and dragged the in fo objects from left side to right side into collected obects and selected install mode (Install and transport) , i gave the trsport also and installed, but ater install if i see in RSD1 still it is in D version only, not in active version only.
Do i need to any other steps required to install info object from D version to A version. Please suggest me if i mssing some thing.

if you want to install only the info objects, follow the steps
click the source system icon on the top
click on objects type under bi content
select collection mode automatically
select only necessary objects, under grouping
expand your info object and select your info object and transfer
check the box , in front of info object
install in in back ground.
by default display is hierarchy.
check the job in sm37, when the status is finished only you can check the info object,
if still it is D version then goto rsd1 , give the info object name and make it active.

Ask fo support Authorization Compounding Info Object BW 3.5

Hi to everyone, I hope somebody can support me >;-)
I got a question concerning an authorization on a compounding Info Object within BW 3.5
I would like to give authorization on the compounding Info Object 0COSTCENTER. The Info Object 0COSTCENTER is compounded, as usual, to Info Objekt 0CO_AREA.
I already created the necessary authorization objects for 0COSTCENTER and for 0CO_AREA I even tried to create an authorization object which contains both info objects for testing and tried every possible combination.
In RSA1 both Info Objects are marked as authorization relevant and within the RSSM both authorization objects are marked relevant for the particualr Info Provider. In the pfcg I restrict corresponding role to particular Cost Center and generate the profile.
But executing the query I always got the authorization problem that the query do not have the authorization to read the authorization object for 0COSTCENTER.
Please be aware of the fact that the problem is within BW 3.5

Which info object should be used for Financial statement line (BPS and BCS)

Hi experts.
A rather easy and straightfoward questions for someone out there.
In BPS as we know, we use the info object '0SEM_POSIT' (account groups, or financial statement line) to summamrize and store amounts from groups of accounts or for example data from COPA's value fields, and which is already an attribute of the info object '0ACCOUNT'.
I am told that there is another BCS related info object called '0CS_ITEM' that serves the same purpose, and uses it for the same reason for the purpose of consolidations.
We'd obviously like to use just the one of these info objects because of planning and reporting.
Can someone out there with knowledge in BCS recommend which one to use, and from their experience in the past how they combined the use of both (if you in fact did use both).
Also, is it true that in BCS you cannot use a two characteristic BW hierarchy for consolidations, and it can only consolidate a one characteristic BW hierarchy?

I kind of understood what you said, but just incase, let me explain my situation a little clearer. In BPS I'm using 0SEM_POSIT for two reasons:
1) To create hierarchy based on 0SEM_POSIT info object, and making each node postable. This is because on this project we don't plan at account level. Only at a kind of account group/financial statement line level. So each node is postable so that they roll up to the higher levels.
2) I will have 0SEM_POSIT as an attribute of 0ACCOUNT (which is standard delivered as an attribute in BW). This will ensure that I derive the actuals at that the same level as the planned. This is required for two reasons:
                           a) I can have the actuals as comaprison column in the Planning
                               layout.
                           b) I can report on the Actuals vs. Plan at the postable node
                               level in BW queries.
So having explained this, what I understood from your explanation is:
a) I can continue to 0SEM_POSIT as my info object for my postable node hierarchy, and
b) I can also use 0CS_ITEM as a consolidation unit specifically for BCS only.
So what I really didn't understand is:
1) your explanation of the mapping of 0SEM_POSIT to 0CS_ITEM, and what this mapping actually does. For example does 0CS_ITEM derive the values from 0SEM_POSIT because of this mapping? Can you explain this a bit? Is Datastream a tool in BCS by which BCS readinf financial data from other components?
2) Can BCS use a 2 characteristic postable nodes hierarchy as a consolidation unit? For example, if I create ONE hierarchy using 0SEM_POSIT, and 0ACCOUNT. Both will be postable at any level of the hirarchy.
Can BCS consolidate using this 2 characteristic hierarchy structure? OR, must it use 0CS_ITEM info object?
3) How does both 0SEM-POSIT, and 0CS_ITEM co-exist together, in terms of planning, consolidation, and reporting. For example if I report using the 0CS_ITEM hierarchy, then I will not be able to read plan data, because plan data is posted on the 0SEM_POSIT? and vice versa......? This question kind of ties in with 1).

Hi,
The maximum length supported by one CHAR type infoobject is 60. Check whether you have assigned more.
If you have to load more length ( more than 60) split the total thing into different infoobjects. Create different infoobjects and split the total thing into them - like 1st 60 char in 1st infoobject, char 61-120 in 2nd infoobject and so on. Then you can again concatenate them.

Error while activating the info object.

While activating one of the info objects, i am getting the following error message:
Characteristic 0BP_GRP: Cannot switch off InfoProvider property
Message no. R7B289
Diagnosis
The characteristic receives master data from other objects (for example, transformations or update rules). Therefore it is necessary to select the characteristic as an InfoProvider.
Procedure
If you want to deselect the Characteristic Is InfoProvider indicator, delete the corresponding objects in the data flow.
