Hierarchy node planning - IP

Hi Gurus,
Could you please let me know if it is possbile to carry out planning by hierarchy nodes in Integrated Planning, We are on BI 7.0 at patch level 15.
If it is not possible, Would appreciate if you could let me know what are the alternatives available?
Thanks in Advance,
Raj.

  • Hierarchy node variable in BPS planning level

    Hi gurus,
I have a set of planning levels and packages that are meant for all users. The users currently are segregated by 0costcenter hierarchy nodes, i.e. groups of users are belonging to different nodes within the 0costcenter hierarchy. These group of users each have its respective authorisation profile assigned based on hierarchy node.
The planning levels and packages are configured so that 0costcenter is one of the header characteristics in the layout.
Is there a way for the characteristic 0costcenter in the planning level and packages to derive the cost centers from the authorisation profiles ?
    Advice appreciated.
    Thanks.

You may consider any of the following:
    1. BPS variables with authorization replacement type.
    2. BPS variables with user defined values replacement type.

  • Execution of a planning function for a row selection of a hierarchy node

    Hi all!
Has anyone accomplished to make a configuration, where a planning function would have been executed for a hierarchy node selection and this selection would have been made by a row selection in an analysis item? I can filter the characteristic in a lowest level by selecting rows in analysis item, but if I would select a hierarchy node, the value for the characteristic is empty. I have set the selection state by binding the item_characteristic of analysis item to filter of the other characteristics.
I tried first to reach this functionality by filtering the characteristic with variables in planning modeller filter and determining the values of the variables during runtime by the selection of the analysis item row selection. But I can not implement it as the display hierachy and the hierarchy node selection in the analysis item  are variables and modeller does not allow selection of a hierarchy node and hierarchy by variables - even thoug it let's you do it (I receive error message saying "field hienmflag with value 5 is not correct").
Greatful for any working solutions tips you have made up!
    Sari

Thanks for the explanation. I come from BPS background and there are few changes when it comes to planning functions in IP.  In BPS, the planning function is a bit loosely tied to Planning Package in a sense that a planning function can use any planning package under the planning level to which it belongs.  Same is the case in IP (technically), but in BPS the planning package contains all the characteristics and key figures of the planning level and hence the function can execute correctly.  What I see in IP is that planning function is very loosely tied to Filter.  It can use any filter under the aggregation level even though they differ in the characteristics and key figures.  I have tried a PF with different filters and it executes with everyone of them!  This doesnu2019t sound right!  Am I missing something here?
Also, you can only execute a IP planning function if it is included in a planning sequence.  An extra step!  The modeling is so intuitive in BPS that IP is a bit repulsive.

  • Data slice inconsistency problem with hierarchy nodes

    Hi Experts,
We want to lock planning tables from function. We create the appropriate data slices but there are problems with (material group) hierarchy nodes.
If I give the node as input variable to the function it causes inconsistency in the data slice. If I choose and add this node to the lock in modeler, the problem is the same.
We are using the following variables to create a data slice:
    0VERSION
    0VTYTYPE
    0COMP_CODE
    ZGRMAT (developed material group)
    Z_YEARCR (developed yera created)
The problem also exist if I set an another type of node e.g. destination country (0RECIPCNTRY) instead of material group.
For me, the problem seems to be generic.
    Do you have any idea?
    Many thanks in advance
    Peter

There is a note related to this proble:
Note 1070608 - Lowflag field is not valid
The implementation of this note resolves the problem.

  • Insert new hierarchy nodes for key figures

    Hi All,
In BI 7.0. when you right click on the key figure folder , you get an option called " insert new hierarchy node". Can anyone please explain what is this feature for. Is is just for reporting purpose where you can drill down for a particular key figure for more clarity. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Satish

    Hi,
    This is for reporting purpose.
For example you have four key figures which consists the "TOTAL DEMAND".
Suppose TOTAL DEMAND = Purchase Requistion + Planned Order + Purchase Order + Production Order
We may provide hierarchy on TOTAL DEMAND, so that in display you may expand TOTAL DEMAND. When expanding TOTAL DEMAND it will show all four key figures with the total numbers in TOTAL DEMAND.
You may refer follwoing document as well.

  • BPC Excel: Select hierarchy nodes & exclude an account within

    Hello All
u2013 in EVDRE, is there a way to define a column selection for a account hierarchy node, however exclude one of the accounts within this group? THis is simmilar to BEX query, where you can select a hierarchy node and then also select to exclude a member within.
EG From the account hierarchy below, select the hierarchy node u2013 u2018group1u2019 , however exclude account 2.
    Account Hierarchy
         Hierarchy - group1
              Account1
              Account2
              Account3
              Account4
I have a couple of different column definitions, so this definition would need to be defined inside the column header area & not in the column member set.
    Thanks
    Glen

    Hello Nilanjan
Firstly, thanks for your reply, much appreciated. One of the requirements is to have multiple column definitions in my report. To achieve this, i was planning to define the definitions inside the columns and adjust the colkeyrange to include all column definitions. This would mean that i would not use the column expansion and hence not have access to the suppress function.
Is there a way of including the suppress function in a column definition?
EG Include hierarchy node 'Parent - Group1" and exclude 'Account2'
    Account Hierarchy
         Parent - Group1
              Account1
              Account2
              Account3
              Account4
    Thanks, Glen

  • Locking hierarchy node

    Hi everybody,
i have a problem with locking hierarchy nodes in the BEx (integrated planning). I have to show a certain hierarchy in the rows and i also have to select a certain node of this hierarchy before. Therefore i create an editable variable for this charactristic. After selecting a certain node of this hierarchy all nodes of this hierarchy will be locked so that nobody else is able to plan on this hierarchy. In my opinion it is not a normal reaction of the system. I really expect that only the selected hierarchy node and all the nodes assigning to this node must be locked, but not all the nodes of the hierarchy. Am i right? Has someone had the same experience? Is it probably a bug?
I really look forward to getting an answer.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ali

    Hi Ali,
locks depend on the selection used in the filter of the query (or restrictions in structure members). So make sure that your restrictions are in the filter (the default values play no role). In the filter you can use select options or hierarchy nodes (this is then called a selection hierarchy).
If you are only using a presentation hierarchy this has not effect on locks.
Remarks: If a selection hierarchy is used in a filter the characteristic values with respect to the hierarchy base characteristic will be resolved, i.e. in RSPLSE you will see (maybe long) lists of single values.

  • Exception (Aggregation) in Hierarchy nodes results

    Hi All,
We have a requirement to sum all values (as results in hierarchy levels) based on the value of a specific characteristics. example as below is what we want to achieve. Country, Product group, materials are all characteristics and this is viewed as hierarchy in the query. In each material there is a calculation components that will shown the value of Sales Qty, Price/unit and Amount. What we want is to sum up ONLY the Amount value and presented in the hierarchy nodes so that we can see how much sales we did by product group and subsequently by country as whole. If we drill across we will be able to achieve this but we want to drill down as we have the time characteristics and variances at the columns. and no, we do not want user to drill across the calculation components. This query is used in Integrated Planning for planning purposes integrated with BO and that is the structure of the planning layout we want. "Calculation component" is a infoobject that contains 'sales qty', 'price/unit' and 'sales amount' as master data values.
I have tried exception aggregation on calc component infoobject for 'LAST VALUE'. and it did capture only the Sales Amount value as result for node Calc Components. But the other results node State, country and Region also takes LAST VALUE.. which is not what i want. what i want is esseentially summation of all Sales amount for each calculation components by state, country and region.
                                                       Last Year  |  Variance   | Current Year |   Jan | Feb | Mar |......
Region X                                              200  (sum of all country's sales amount)
->Country A                                          200  (sum of all states' sales amount)
-> State Y1                                          80 (sum of all components's sales amount)
           ->Calc Components Z1                    30
              - Sales Qty                                   10
              - Price/Unit                                     3
              - Sales Amount                             30
          ->Calc Components Z2                    50
              - Sales Qty                                     5
              - Price/Unit                                   10
              - Sales Amount                             50
       -> State Y2                                        120
           ->Calc Components Z1                   40
              - Sales Qty                                   10
              - Price/Unit                                     4
              - Sales Amount                             40
          ->Calc Components Z2                    80
              - Sales Qty                                   10
              - Price/Unit                                     8
              - Sales Amount                             80
    any help would be appreciated...
    eddie

Please try the below steps and I hope it should work for you.
Instead of calculated keyfigures, try to use local formula .Because i think sometimes CKF will not give the expected result if you use exception aggregation (not sure though, but i used only local formulas)
    1. Create a first local keyfigure (Say F1)for the calculation and use exception aggreagation as 'Average' and reference characteristics as 'PDU'.
    2. Create  a second keyfigure ( Say F2) using the first keyfigure(F1) and use exception aggregation as 'Average' and reference characteristics as 'Sales Document', if you need the values based on average of the sales documents and hide the first keyfigure(F1)
I consider Sales document is the first level and PDU is the second level ( i mean lowest  level) . Because you need to consider these sequencens as well when you design the exception aggregation.
Likewise you can create nested aggregations based on your requirements.
Please do let me know if it works.
    Thanks.

  • PLEASE HELP....Hierarchy Node Variable

    Hi All:
I have a BPS Hierarchy Node Variable based on the Profit Center Hierarchy that was created in BW.  The problem is when I set this variable to a node...only one profit center in this node gets displayed.  Does anyone know what I am doing wrong here?  I need to show data for all profit centers within this node.
    Thank you very much.

    Hi Jane,
planning is only possible for one single characteristic combination. If you want to plan data for profit centers you need to plan on a single one.
Using a hierachy in a planning level means: All profit center in the node are selected, filled into the buffer and can be planned in one step BUT every value must be exactly assigned to a single profit center.
When you open the layout, the first profit center of the hierachy node can be planned. You can switch to other profit centers by icons at the top of the layout. So there is always one "active" profit center in the header of the layout.

  • Display Hierarchy in Planning layout

    Hi,
I am using a Cost Center Hierarchy in planning area, level & layout. After executing a planning folder, System is asking me the Fiscal Year, Plant, and  Cost Center Hierarchy. In Herarchy I have selected the  PM4. But in excel layout it display node of this this hierarfhy.
    i.e.   MILLA -> PM4 -> 220300
I have selected PM4 but in excel planning layout header it display  220300.
Our requirement is PM4 should be display in excel planning layout  header.
If anyone have idea how to do this please guide me. Thanx in advance.
    Regards
    Manu

    Hi Niel,
    Thanx for your immediate reply.
    1. Check into material master data itself whether it has the data (you can check either to master data & master data text). If you have no data, you need to fill it.
Yah I have loaded master data with text. When we go into BI and check maintian master data it shows plenty of records. So the data is there in BI.
    2. Go to the corresponding material info-object, then edit it. Go to Business Explorer tab, you will see the setting for Query Def. filter Value Selection, you must set up it into Values in Master Data Table (M).
This setting is I have already done. But still I am facing problem.
When I click on that help button in web-layout. The new screen shows only selection fields but the below are blank.

  • Hierarchy node in query rows not showing values in report

    Hi sdn
I'm taking hierarchy node on rows and some plan and actual values on columns but i'm unable to get values in the report for only plan values
How did I reconcile the values whether that value is available in hierarchy or corresponding value's for plan data is available in the cube, pls give me clues
    rubane

    Hi,
Could you please share the steps you have taken to fix the problem?
We do have a similar problem and for some reason the newly added hierarchy node for 0Profit_ctr is not showing up in the variable selection screen F4 (input selection for query execution). However we can see this node when we display that hierarchy in RSA1. I did try applying the changes recommened by Jerome but unfortunately it didn't work.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

  • SEM-BPS: Variables of type hierarchy node user exit

    Hi,
I read the "How to.." document "Variables of Type Exit".
This document has example for variable type caracteristic.
I need to use this kind of solution for global variables:
I have the same variables in several planning areas. I have defined one ‘leading’ area containing the variable that should automatically set/adjust the corresponding variables in the other planning areas.
I've created a SEM variable of type hierarchy node and with the replacement type user exit. There is a standard function module API_SEMBPS_VARIABLE_GETDETAIL which has to provide the selected hierarchy node in leading area to other areas.
The function works ideally in test mode, but it doesn't work as the SEM user exit.
Does anyone have experience in this problem?
    Thanks

Your function module shall follow the expected interface (required for exit type). Function API_SEMBPS_VARIABLE_GETDETAIL is not for such usage.
To see an example FM that is fit for a 'user exit' processing for hierarchy node, have a look at FM UPF_VARIABLE_USER_EXIT_HIER. There is inline documentation in the source code that shall help you create your own FM if required.
    cheers,

  • How to filter hierarchy node in BEX query designer

    Dear experts
We are working on FI balance sheet with hierarchy infoobject 0GLACCEXT. Example of our balance sheet is as follow:
    Parent Node A = 20
         Sub-parent Node A1 = 10
             Leaf A11 = 5
                 Leaf A12 = 5
    Parent Node B = 20
         Sub-parent Node B1 = 10
                   Leaf B11 = 5
                   Leaf B12 = 5
    We require only:
        Sub-parent Node A1 = 10
        Leaf B12 = 5
So I filter those out in BEX restriction;  however, after we examine the report in tcode RSRT, "Sub-parent Node A1" is not shown in BEX Report, and the result is as follow:
    Parent Node B = 5
         Sub-parent Node B1 = 5
                 Leaf B12 = 5
Are there solutions for us to show merely A1 and B12 ?

    Hi Chu
    Try the following steps.
    Initial Output
In this example I will restrict the query for only displaying Node 8603 and leaf 9000
Proceed to restrict the Characteristic. Please be aware of the difference between hierarchy nodes and leaf characteristic values. Also set the Hierarchy display properties to expand up to level 1.
    Execute the query again:
Please be aware that users will still be able to expand node 8603 and see the lower level nodes/leaf. In order to restrict users from doing this set up users authorizations.

  • DSO or ODS "Insert New Hierarchy Nodes" under Data Fields

When you insert info objects under the Data Fields in DSO right mouse click on the Data Fields icon and you will find Insert New Hierarchy Nodes . I created a hierarchy node with infoobjects associating with it which will be visible under the Filters Folder in BEx Query designer as a seperate folder. I can add them to the infoobjects from this folder into the query. I did not know how to apply this functionality in Queries and what it really does. My guess was you can create dynamic hierarchy using characteristic infoobjects from transactional data.Any ideas or links to documentation. This option was available from 7.X in DSO's and i think even in 3.x ODS.
