Hierarchy Node Restriction

Hello Gurus,
I have a Cost Center Hierarchy upto level 4.
In my Query I want to restrict the Hierarchy Node to Level 2. This shud be a kind of permanent setting. ie; User should not be able to drill down beyond Level 2.
Is this possible.
Full points to correct answers.
Thanks in advance.

Hey In BI 7.0 it has been made very simple...
Path A:
Go to
1.Rsecadimin>authorization>maintenance
2.Create and authorization object
3.Insert the infoobject 0costcenter
4.Select its row  click on details(lens icon)
5.Now you will find two tabs one for  a.Value authorization  b.Hierarchy authorization
6.Click hierarchy authorization and there you can put the name of hierarchy...and select the levels upto which you want to authorize the user...also many different combinations ..try it once and you will enjoy it.....
Don't forget to use it in the report...using a hierarchy node variable having processing type as authorizations.
Path B:
Directly mention that on the Hierarchy tab in the properties window for that infoobject the display is allowed till what level..
use which ever you prefer..
Thanks==points

  • Hierarchy Node Description in BEx Restriction

    Hi All,
When I use a hierarchy node variable as a restriction in a query, the leaf level nodes always display a long list of info (all the associated attributes) instead of just the actual node info by itself.
How do I set that up since the display is very busy with all that attribute info showing!
    Thanks,
    Darryl

    Hi There,
Go to Attribute tab of infoobject on which hierarchy is build and change the value of column 'Order' to  '0'. This paramenter controls the display of attributes.
    Thanks

  • How to filter hierarchy node in BEX query designer

    Dear experts
We are working on FI balance sheet with hierarchy infoobject 0GLACCEXT. Example of our balance sheet is as follow:
    Parent Node A = 20
         Sub-parent Node A1 = 10
             Leaf A11 = 5
                 Leaf A12 = 5
    Parent Node B = 20
         Sub-parent Node B1 = 10
                   Leaf B11 = 5
                   Leaf B12 = 5
    We require only:
        Sub-parent Node A1 = 10
        Leaf B12 = 5
So I filter those out in BEX restriction;  however, after we examine the report in tcode RSRT, "Sub-parent Node A1" is not shown in BEX Report, and the result is as follow:
    Parent Node B = 5
         Sub-parent Node B1 = 5
                 Leaf B12 = 5
Are there solutions for us to show merely A1 and B12 ?

    Hi Chu
    Try the following steps.
    Initial Output
In this example I will restrict the query for only displaying Node 8603 and leaf 9000
Proceed to restrict the Characteristic. Please be aware of the difference between hierarchy nodes and leaf characteristic values. Also set the Hierarchy display properties to expand up to level 1.
    Execute the query again:
Please be aware that users will still be able to expand node 8603 and see the lower level nodes/leaf. In order to restrict users from doing this set up users authorizations.

  • Issue with hierarchy node variable and multiple SAP hierarchies

    Hello experts,
We are currently facing an issue when using two SAP hierarchies in Web Intelligence and one of them is restricted with a hierarchy node variable.
The systems we use are a SAP BI 7.01 (SPS 05) and a Business Objects Enterprise XI R3.1 SP2 (fix pack 2.3). I want also to point out that the fix pack 2.3 has been applied to all BOE related components: the SAP integration Kit, client tools, and enterprise (server and client).
The universe used in our scenario is based on a BEX Query with two hierarchies (non-time dependent hierarchies, intervals allowed) loaded on their corresponding characteristics. One of these characteristics is restricted with a hierarchy node variable (manual input, optional, ready for input, multiple single values allowed).
    Prerequisites for replicating the problem:
    1)     When building the web intelligence query select several levels from both hierarchies (they have seven levels each) and    the   only amount of the InfoCube that the BEX query (that was used to create our universe) relies on.
    2)     In the hierarchy node variable prompt select a hierarchy node entry (not an actual InfoObject value that exists as transactional data in the InfoCube )
By executing the query built above, all characteristics are returned null (no value) and the key figure with value u201C0u201D. No error messages, no partial results warnings.  Now if we go back to u201CEdit queryu201D and select levels of only one of any of the two hierarchies the query runs normally (by selecting the exact same value for the hierarchy node variable prompt).
    Any ideas on the matter?

    Giorgos

    Hi,
Have you ever got a solution for this problem?
    I have a similar one.

  • Hierarchy Node Variable search (find) option not working

Hi Experts - I have created a hierarchy node varibale on a fixed hierarchy. When user run the report and click on hierarchy node variable selection option , A new window will pop up which has all the nodes.
As the list is quite big and has many levels , On the same pop up , we have find option , when we enter any node in the find box , its always give a ABAP Dump , It never works for me...
Is node find/search in not working in Bi 7.0 .

    Hi Rohan,
We can restrict the hierchey level at property of of the hiearchey enabled characteristic.

  • Search Help for Hierarchy Node in SAP BW 7.3

    Hi Experts,
We were previously using SAP BW 7.1 system and we had a table which used to be maintained through SM30 which has a customed search help on one of the fields for a hierarchy object. And it was working perfectly.
However, one of our systems have just been migrated into 7.3 version and the above functionality is no longer working.
This is what is happening now:
    - User selects a hierarchy and after selection nothing is being displayed on field on the table.
We have tried to debug this customed search help in both environments to distinguish what is wrong. We have noted that a standard function module (RRSV_IOBJ_VALUE_OUTPUT) is not behaving similarly. In 7.1 system, the C_T_DATA table is being filled whereby in the 7.3 system, it is empty.
Do you think this is the issue?
Please do advise and propose what can be done to make it work. Or any idea on how to create a new search help for a hierarchy node in 7.3?
    Thanks in advance.

    hi,
one more thing i will like to add here is in BW 7.3 you get a new security admin feature that allows you to make mass changes to authorizations instead of one-by-one. This can be done by cut-and-paste in a worklist, hierarchy nodes, and you can also add users to multiple analysis authorizations.
The u2018newu2019 authorizations has both the data value and hierarchy restrictions. You can still build using the u201CRSECADMINu201D transaction
Also make sure that all objects are in the TLIBG library and they will be 'shielded' during the upgrade.

  • Hierarchy node variable - successor node data not displayed

    Hello,
I have a query with a hierarchy in the ‘rows’ section. This hierarchy is restricted by a hierarchy node variable with the following settings: variable type ‘hierarchy node’; customer exit; single value; mandatory; not ready for input; cannot be changed in query navigation.
The customer exit correctly supplies the node. However, only data for THIS node is displayed in the query results. And data for successor/underlying nodes is NOT displayed.
    I tried several things, including:
    - rightclick ‘Rows’ > ‘Display as a Hierarchy’
    - customer exit variable: multiple values instead of single value; optional instead of mandatory
In the ‘Hierarchy Attributes’ for the hierarchy, nothing is checkmarked, except for Root/Totals Item Appears Above’ and ‘Drilldown start level = 00’. The hierarchy and its nodes are valid from 01.07.2005 to 31.12.9999.
I have a feeling in what area the solution can be found, but I have no clue what to do further on with it. As a test I replaced the customer exit variable with a user entry variable. If I then execute the query, I can select either the ‘node’ or the ‘value’ (both with the same technical value!). If I select the node, I get all data, including data for successor nodes. If I select the value, I only get the data for the node, not the underlying successor nodes. For some reason, the customer exit variable behaves like the latter and not like the first. I do not know how to solve this.
I would greatly appreciate if you could help me out of this issue here.
    Kind regards,
    Frank

    Hi,
no, it doesn't. It just returns the data for the node and not for the underlying nodes.

  • Locking hierarchy node

    Hi everybody,
i have a problem with locking hierarchy nodes in the BEx (integrated planning). I have to show a certain hierarchy in the rows and i also have to select a certain node of this hierarchy before. Therefore i create an editable variable for this charactristic. After selecting a certain node of this hierarchy all nodes of this hierarchy will be locked so that nobody else is able to plan on this hierarchy. In my opinion it is not a normal reaction of the system. I really expect that only the selected hierarchy node and all the nodes assigning to this node must be locked, but not all the nodes of the hierarchy. Am i right? Has someone had the same experience? Is it probably a bug?
I really look forward to getting an answer.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ali

    Hi Ali,
locks depend on the selection used in the filter of the query (or restrictions in structure members). So make sure that your restrictions are in the filter (the default values play no role). In the filter you can use select options or hierarchy nodes (this is then called a selection hierarchy).
If you are only using a presentation hierarchy this has not effect on locks.
Remarks: If a selection hierarchy is used in a filter the characteristic values with respect to the hierarchy base characteristic will be resolved, i.e. in RSPLSE you will see (maybe long) lists of single values.

  • No Query Result After Using Hierarchy Node Variable (Customer Exit)

    Hi
I have problem at my query. It doesn't show anything in BEx but when i check the data in BW using tcode LISTCUBE i can display the data.
This problem happen when i change the restrictions for one of characteristic in filter value.
The characteristic is custom Infoobject (ZCPARTNER), which like Infoobject Partner Unit.
Previously I set the restriction with constant value, example : A500,A700,A710,A720,A730,A740 and it worked before.
But when I change it using hierarchy node variable (customer exit), this problem is arise.

    Hi Satria,
    Instead of following code ---
    CLEAR l_s_range-low.
    IF loc_var_range-low EQ '000000000000030000'
    OR loc_var_range-low EQ '000000000000010130'.

    OR loc_var_range-low EQ '000000000000010160'.
    l_s_range-low = 'MEZBUNITMPI'.
    l_s_range-high = '0HIER_NODE'.
    ENDIF.
    try this ---
    IF loc_var_range-low EQ '000000000000030000'
    OR loc_var_range-low EQ '000000000000010130'.

Note : whenver the option is EQ, the system takes only low value.

  • Dynamic columns in query depending on hierarchy nodes

    Hello all
I want to design a query with dynamic number of columns depending on hierarchy node.
A hierarchy node is selected while running the query and user has authorization to see all subsequent nodes below the selected node.
e.g. consider grp hierarchy with units and sub-grps as nodes.
    level1 Grp1
    levele2 unit1     :       grp2               :      grp3
    level3              :      unit2   unit4      :    unit4 grp4
Suppose user select node Grp1, then there should be 3 columns for unit1, grp2, grp3
If user selects node grp2, then there should be 2 columns for unit2 and unit4
Please help. Any suggestions highly are highly appreciated.

  • Hierarchy node value in the report

    Hi all,
I have a 0cost center for which master data hierarchy has been loaded.
This 0costcenter has 4 hierarchy nodes and under each node there are few cost centers.
Say these nodes are zones then under each zone there are few costcenters.
Now my question is in the reporting I want to see the costcenters Zonal wise.
Say if I want to see only the zone 1 and the rest three zones should not get visible or displayed  then how  could I do that?.
How can I restrict the other User viewing my zone and the cost centers and their values?
I want a report based on zones and that to with authorization?
    Thx

    Hi Simon,
Yes as you said I create a hierarchy node variables for zone 1 ,zone2, zone3, and zone4 and as per the requirement I can call the variable to display the data zone wise.
When it comes for Users then how could I restrict the variables according to the Users?
As you said how to fill the node with authorization?
How to use standard authorizations and where can I find them?
And how can I fill them at run time?
how to use personalisation to default in per user the value of the node and then not allow the variable to be user selected, how to do this ?
    plz explain
    Thx

  • Authorisation in Hierarchy node variable type

    Hi,
Is it possible to have a Hierrachy Node variable that is processed by Authorisations ?
    Regards,
    Saurabh Diwakar

    https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BI/AuthorizationinSAPNWBI
    Create BEX variable for authorization
    1. Right click on the IO -> choose 'Restrict'
    2. Choose 'Selection' = 'Single Value' and 'from Hierarchy' = 'flat list'
If a hierarchy exists, select the hierarchy for the IO
    3. Go on the variables tab -> Right click -> 'New variable'
    4. For a restriction without hierarchy, the type of variable is 'Characteristic Value' and if you have choose a hierarchy, the type of variable is 'Hierarchy node'
    5. Select a variable name & a description
    6. Choose 'Processing by': = 'Authorization' then check the characteristic and click 'next'
    7. Choose the display area for the variable -> Variable represents: = 'Single Value' or 'Selection Option'
    8. Choose if the variable entry is Optional or mandatory,
    9. Don't select 'Ready for input' and 'Can be changed in query navigation
    10. Next to the end

  • Unable to see  hierarchy nodes for a hierarchy in Query designer

For IO 0GL_ACCOUNT, we have many hierarchies defined.
In the query designer when i am trying to restrict the 0GL_ACCOUNT with one of the hierarchy say Hier1 the corresponding hierarchy nodes should be displayed so that i can select any nodes of my choice and can restrict.
Strangley instead of showing hierarchy nodes,it is showing" [ ]" with out any values.Checked in RSA1 ,the hierarchy with all nodes visible perfectly. No authorization settings created on any of these hierarchies.

  • No applicable data : when selecting hierarchy node on 0GLACCEXT

    Hi,
I using the ZCUBE (Copy of virtual cube 0FIGL_V10).
I have data for the 0GLACCEXT hierarchy (standard hierarchy tech name: INT, and also for custom hierarchies)
From the moment we use a selection in the rows on a node within the hierarchy of the financial statement item : 0GLACCEXT,  the result is No applicable data.
We are using the standard calculated key figure Balance sheet Value.
If i use the hierarchy (for INT) as a whole, we get data. If i restrict with hierarchy nodes for INT, then 'No Applicable Data'.
for the other custom hierarchies, i'm getting same result, i.e. 'No Applicable Data'.
Can somebody help with this issue.
