Hierarchy selection missing in member selector with Excel 2013 and EPM SP21
Hello all,
We have recently upgraded to excel 2013 and EPM SP21. While running a data manager package we are not getting an option for "hierarchy" view, only "list" view is available in member selector dialog box as shown below:
This clearly looks to be an issue with the upgrade as we never faced this earlier.
Please suggest.
Thanks,
Dolly Katyal
Look here:
You have:
Remove INPUT:
And you will have hierarchy view!

My question is related to the Sales Data.xlsx template that comes with Excel 2013
IN this workbook is a sheet named Sales Data. It has, 3 shapes. One each for each of the tab sheets in the workbook. When I click on the 'Sales Report' shape it selects the sales report tab. When you do this the shape changes color and the 'Sales Data' shape
also changes color.
However I'm unable to figure out how the colors are changing.
I don't see any macros in the workbook/worksheet. Nor do I see any code for worksheet events. I don't see any modules in VBA either. I think what is happening is that there are 2 shapes. When you click on one, the one shape goes to the background and the
other one comes to the foreground.
I'm no sure how it's doing that.
Can someone look at this template, Sales Data.xlsx that comes with Excel and explain how this functionality works?
Thank You
Keith Aul
Keith AulThe shapes are exactly as I suspected, each of 3 sheets has 3 'navigation' shapes. The shape with the same name as the sheet has no hyperlink and is coloured differently to indicate it refers to the active sheet. The other two have hyperlinks linked to respective
sheets. 3x3 shapes, 9 in total, none of them ever change colour!
It's logical though not necessary to name each shape same as the sheet it links to, but they'd work just as well with their original default names.
For aesthetics, the shapes that refer to own sheet have a horizontal line on top, actually two shapes as a group.
If still confused copy each set of 3 shapes to a 4th sheet, or open two new windows so you can see all three sheets at the same time. -
Small file get extremely big after saving with Excel 2013
A file who is only 666Kb big with Excel 2007 is opened with Excel 2013. When I direct safe that file, the size increases to more than 6GB. Opening that file takes more than one minute. And Excel seems to crasch.(Not responding) The problem seems to be one
(1) sheet. when I delete rows the size of that file is increasing up to 16 GB. This means a less filed excel sheet, makes a bigger file.Hi,
The issue seems happened in the special file and it may be caused by the conditional formatting, cell format, formula calculation automatic or macros, ect. Please see the thread which some communicators discussed:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2007-excel/why-do-my-excel-files-become-huge/8235dc08-aa70-4a65-9892-b776790d79c5?page=1
Then, we may try the Mr. Ashish's suggestion:
=====
1. Identify the last filled up row of data and click on any cell in one row below that
2. Select from that row till the end and delete all rows
3. Do the same for columns
4. Save and close the file
5. Shut down MS Excel
6. Reopen the file
=====
If the issue still exists, please copy all the content to new/blank Excel 2013 file to test.

Hi,
One of our users encountered this problem with Excel 2013 while creating pivot tables, particularly with large files. We tried to modify Virtual Memory
of the pc but error still persist. Why does this happen and how can we resolve this? Thanks.
Another error message encountered by the user, this time when opening large files. The files she tried to open are working fine in 2010. But when opened in 2013, it prompted : "There
isn't enough memory to complete this action. Try using less data or closing other applications."Hi,
In regarding of the issue, please provide us more information to assist you better.
Did your user using the Excel 2013 and Excel 2010 with same PC? If not, please let me know the both of the 2 PCs' hardware list/Windows operation system info.
Did you using Excel 2013 32bit version and Excel 2010 64bit version?
General speaking, this issue usually occurs with Office 2013 32 bit version. It has a limitation of 2Gb of memory that can be used by its process. And the 64-bit Excel can handle larger workbooks.
Thus, if your user using 32bit Excel, I recommend try 64bit Excel instead.
Here is a similar issue, we also could try it:

Problem with Excel 2013 TaskPane
Hello,
I got problem with TaskPane on Excel 2013. With Excel 2007 and 2010 my program works perfectly.
I'm opening a workbook and making custom ribbon, but my workbook is hided and the problem comes that first time i can see TaskPane but after any other workbook opening and closing i can't show TaskPane because Globals.ThisAddIn.SarasuTaskPane.Visible
= true don't showing me TaskPane. Actual it's showing but we can't see it because it's hided with workbook, and if i unhide workbook i can see and use it. But i need my main workbook to be not visible for all time and users must see TaskPane.
I will try write step by step.
1. I'm launching .exe which creating excel object
2. With Excel object I'm opening .xlsm which sheets are protected and not visible, and Run my Sub
3. That Sub loads my COM AddIn, and opens another .xlsm file (at the moment there are 2 .xlsm files opened)
4. My Add-in creates TaskPane, and TaskPane adds on my first .xlsm file(i noticed), and it's fine i can see it. But then i try some of my functions which sets TaskPane visible - false, and opens another .xlsx file then closes it, and trying to do TaskPane visible
- true no errors but also no TaskPane, then i Manually unhide my first Workbook i can see the TaskPane, when i hide it manualy - TaskPane hides too.. and this only on Excel 2013.
Any ideas to solve this? As i mention before with Excel 2007 and 2010 no problems it's works perfectly.
sincerely,
JuliusI have used you code to hide a panel , it works fine

Problems with Excel 2007 and Essbase 6.5
Hi,
Two quick questions:
1. We are planning to upgrade our office to 2007, XP professional SP2 but still going to use Essbase excel add-in 6.5 for some users and Essbase 7.3 add-in for others. Has anyone faced any problems with this combination?
2. The only problem I encountered so far was when I double click a member name for retrieval, the pointer (cursor/icon) flickers / flashes continuously. But when I take the pointer out of the excel spreadsheet, the flicker goes away. Does anyone know a fix to this. Thanks.Hi,
I'm admin of an hyperion essbase database.
I'm testing our addin 6.5.1 with excel 2007.
First problem evocated on retrieve is confirmed.
I continue my test and tell you if i find another problem.
What i would say is that old version can be unsupported but i'm sure we can use this addin on excel 2007, i hope.
Regards.

Report Generation Toolkit with Excel 2003 and Excel 2000
Hello,
I'm using the Report Generation Toolkit to generate an Excel report from an Excel template.
The "NI_Excel.lvclass" is included in the "source" section of the application builder options.
I create an exe file on a PC where Excel 2003 is installed. On a Notebook, where only Excel 2000 is installed, the application crashes at the generation of the report:
I guess the problem is the different version of Excel but I don't know. On the developer PC with Excel 2003 it works fine.
In this document it's only talked about different Word versions.
How can I use the Report Generation Toolkit here?
I'm using it that way:
RegardsOh, it seems that the Report Generation Toolkit "only" supports Excel XP/2003/2007.
I think, that's the problem. -
Problem with Excel 2013 on W8 and WD NAS
With my W8 laptop, I get a lot of problem saving excel file on my NAS. I get "we can't save filename.xlsx because the file is in read-only. To keep your changes you'll need to save the workbook with a new name or in a different location..."
I'm alone using the file. Not being use by anyone else.
Exemple: load file "A" from the NAS, can't save it back on the NAS. I save it as "B" on my desktop. Open "B" do some change and try to save it... get " that someone else is using the file....
Only way is to save it one a 3rd name...
I have this issue often but not all the time..
Don't see this with W7pro laptops...
Thank youHi FGauthier,
Have you ever try to save Document ,PPT file or Text file to the NAS? Does this issue only occurs with excel file?
what will happen if you copy the file to NAS instead of use the 'save as' feature within excel?
When you open the excel file, if it flagged as read-only, try to right-click the file, check if the read-only option is ticked. Also you can try to save the file as different file format to test this issue.
Also please check if you enable the preview pane, try to disable it .
a) Open File Explorer.
b) Click on View Tab.
c) Click on Preview Pane to view\hide it.

Workbooks with Excel 2007 and 1 million lines
Hi all,
We are unable to use the 1 million lines available with Excel 2007 with the migrated workbooks. Also, it seems that Excel is saving the files in .xls format, even if the format default in Excel is not set for .xls.
Does anyone have a solution for this??
Thanks

Excel 2013 and Random Excessive Processor Utilization
Every now and then (about once per day), my Excel 2013 will randomly seize one of my 8 threads and max it out. My PC is quad-core and hyper-threaded, so it shows up in task manager as 8 cores. When Excel seizes, its UI still seems to function
properly... I can input data and format cells, etc. But even when my machine should be idle, I'll notice that my laptop fan is running at the maximum. When this happens, a quick look at task manager shows me that "excel.exe *32" is consuming
13% of my processor utilization (100% divided by 8).
If I close Excel, the process typically will quit, but every now and then I must forcibly end the process even after Excel has appeared to close (the UI almost always closes fine, but sometimes even after the UI has closed the fan still runs high and there
is still an excel.exe *32 process hanging out in my task list, consuming exactly 13% of the CPU until I end the process).
I notice this more often when editing network files via VPN, but every now and then it will happen with local files, too.
Perhaps this is an issue with multi-cores and memory locks? I'm tempted to permanently set the processor affinity for excel.exe to see if this alleviates the issue...
Do you have any suggestions?Seems that Excel crash issue only happen for a single user in your site, and you've tried some of troubleshoot steps already. Please continue to perform the following method which mention in the
KB2758592 o narrow down the issue:
Method 1: Verify/install the latest updates
Method 4: Check whether your antivirus software is up to date or is conflicting with Excel
Method 7: Test by using a new local or network profile
Method 9: Repair or reinstall your Office program

SantoshHi Santosh,
I think the Reporting Services integration works with SQL Server 2008/2008 R2. When the SQL Server 2012 is installed, there is an option to install Reporting Services - SharePoint bits. Details can be found here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/jj219068(v=sql.110).aspx
Once the Reporting Services components have been installed you should be able to configure the SQL Server Reporting Service Application and use the Reporting Services content types in your SharePoint libraries
Hope this helps

Error when enabling the connection group with office 2013 and a plugIn
Hi,
I've created the office 2013 proplusVolume with ODT, published it globaly, Sequenced the plugin, with only the office 2013 as a published app-v package on the system, made the connection group with correct xml, but when I enable the connection group, I got
the error:
The connection group {xxx} version {xxx} could not be published because the
virtual COM settings of the individual packages conflict.
Verify that the virtual COM settings are the same for all member packages and try again.
The COM settings are made the same as the office package on the plugin package, but I still have the same error.
The Deployment-, and user-XML have this values (as it was for the office originally):
<COM Mode=”Integrated”>
<IntegratedCOMAttributes
OutOfProcessEnabled=”true” InProcessEnabled=”true” />
<Objects Enabled=”false” />
Why do I get this error?
Why is it merly impossible to track down the realy error?
What can i do to make this connection group work?Right now the catalog is pulling from the AppXManifests inside the AppV Packages. You can see these settings by renaming the AppV file to .ZIP and browsing those files (READ ONLY) to see the default COM settings. Simply changing the Deployment Config files
is not enough. You will need to make sure the information is dynamically applied at publishing by specifying the -DynamicDeploymentConfiguration option when adding the package using the Add-AppvClientPackage cmdlet. You do not need to worry about the UserConfig
file.
If you are doing this in band with the management system, you would import this configuration in under Advanced Configuration for the package.

Issues with mobility and autodiscovery with Lync 2013 and IIS/ARR
Hi all,
this is my last resort after days and days searching a solution for this problem... unsuccessfully.
All works fine unless the autodiscovery service with external users and the mobility service for both internal and external ones.
I deployed a Standard Edition Lync Server 2013 with:
a consolidated Frontend server in LAN
an Archiving and Monitoring server in LAN
an Edge server in DMZ with 2 NICs (one in DMZ network and one in LAN)
a IIS/ARR 2.5 reverse proxy in DMZ with 2 NICs (one in DMZ network and one in LAN)
All these roles are on Windows Server 2012 R2.
No split-DNS is deployed since I have different domains for internal and external. In any case I used the pinpoint DNS tip to resolve some records internally (I followed this guide http://tsoorad.blogspot.ch/2012/10/lync-server-dns-pinpoint-zones.html)
Here DNS records into internal domain:
A-record for meet.domain-ext.com points to Frontend server local IP
A-record for dialin.domain-ext.com points to Frontend server local IP
A-record for lyncdiscoverinternal.domain-ext.com points to Frontend server IP
A-record for lyncwebexternal.domain-ext.com points to Frontend sever local IP
A-record for autodiscover.domain-ext.com points to Exchange server local IP
Here DNS records into external domain:
CNAME-record for lyncdiscover.domain-ext.com points to lyncwebexternal.domain-ext.com
CNAME-record for sipexternal.domain-ext.com points to lyncwebexternal.domain-ext.com
A-record for meet.domain-ext.com points to Reverse Proxy public IP
A-record for dialin.domain-ext.com points to Reverse Proxy public IP
A-record for lyncwebexternal.domain-ext.com points to Reverse Proxy public IP
I installed and configured IIS/ARR 2.5 with KB2732764 and KB2785586 on Reverse Proxy following the NextHop guide. The local IP address of external NIC on Reverse Proxy is NATTED by a Cisco ASA firewall with public IP address and only 80/443
ports are permitted.
The problems occurs when I try to connect whit my Lync 2013 APP on iPad using autodiscovery service, both internally and externally. After some seconds the APP shows the message “Cannot connect to the server because it could be busy or
temporarily unavailable. Retry.” When I used the IIS/ARR 3.0 the problem looked like an authentication issue, then I came back to ISS/ARR 2.5 version with its KB. Now I cannot understand what is the cause about logfail.
The same behavior occurs with Android Lync 2013 APP and Windows Phone 8 APP.
Moreover my Lync 2013 client on Windows 7 can connect internally with autodiscovery settings but it cannot do it externally.
I'm a bit confused because I cannot understand if the problem is about external webservice of Frontend server or about Reverse Proxy configuration or about Lync Control Panel configuration.
Here is an extracted of iPad Lync 2013 log (sorry if it’s a bit long).
Any helps are very appreciated, thansk a lot!

is ‘Cannot connect to the server because it could be busy or temporarily
unavailable. Retry.’Hi Kent,
thanks a lot for your reply!
I created _sip._tls.domain-ext.com SRV record in the external DNS and now autodiscovery works fine. At the beginning I had not created it because I thought lyncdiscover.domain-ext.com A record was enough for autodiscovery. I still cannot understand
why lyncdiscover.domain-ext.com points to reverse proxy, while _sip._tls.domain-ext.com points to Edge server. It's strange because both are part of the research order of Lync 2013 desktop clients.
By the way, mobility still does not work. I tried to insert bot the https URLs as manual configuration but Lync 2013 for iPad was not be able to login. I tried to paste both the URLs in the web browser and:
with https://<ExtwebFQDN>/Autodiscover/autodiscoverservice.svc/Root appears the "Root.json" file to be downloaded;
with https://<IntwebFQDN>/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.svc/Root
the message "500-Internal error of server" appears.
Any suggests from you about how to check the configuration of ISS/ARR 2.5?
Thanks again!
