Hierarchy without Transfer rules?

Dear All,
Can we load Hierarchy without Transfer rules?
*I know we can do this without Update rules but in the case of transfer rules?!!!

But in TBW10 it is saying we can do hierarchy with and without transfer rules.

Swap R3 source system for BW without recreating transfer rules

Hi, All,
I am facing an interesting situation. The team would like to retire an R3 system which is the source to our BW development environment. I need to replace the old R3 source with another one. The BW development environment is also the source of the transport path.
Is there a quick way to swap out an R3 source system without recreating all the transfer rules/infosources/infopackages which are tie to the old system?

In BI 7.0, we are trying to repoint ECC 6 Dev system in place of R/3 Dev. Ran BDLS which converted some tables but not all and ended with errors. Does anyone know how to manually correct these entries? Is there a program to independently correct the tables?

Transfer rules for Functional Location hierarchy

I am trying to install Transfer rules for 0FUNC_LOC_HIER from BI Content.
But i could not find any .
Where do i can find T/Rs or Is there any procedure for that ?

Hi Sateesh,
I am not sure if the hierarchy datasource 0FUNC_LOC_HIER supports the transfer methog PSA,
if it only supports IDoc then its will not have transfer rules that you can maintain. You can
check in table ROOSOURCE in the source system (field transfer method) to see if the datasource supports
PSA transfer methd. If it does then you could create your own transfer rules.

Hierarchy Transfer Strucutre & Transfer Rules are not transported to QA sys

I have one master data infobject. And i loaded the text , attribute, hierarchy data from Flat file.
I need to transport it QA system . I did it.
But when i checked in QA system. It says that "HIERARCHY TRANSFER STRUCUTRE" is not avaialbel in Qa system .
So how can i transport the "Hierarchy Transfer Strucutre & Transfer Rules" to QA ssytem .

transaction SM59 / R/3 connections; you should see your system there.
double click and Test connection.
then menu/test/authorization.
if you have transported stuff already then it is most likely because of your flat file source system.... Ensure that they're defined exactly the same way in your DEV and PROD! Right click this source system and perform a CHECK and/or RESTORE and/or ACTIVATE.
Partner profiles should also be similar. Transaction WE20 / Partner type LS / your flat file sys.
Finally ensure that your prod sys can access your flat file the same than your DEV!
did you already import TRules from with flat file?

While activating Transfer rules....

Hello BW gurus,
I am extracting CO Transaction Data from SAP R/3 into BW. I replicated 0CO_OM_CCA_1 standard Data Source into BW and assigned BI Content 0CO_OM_CCA_1 Info Source .
1) In the Transfer rules , all the fields from Data Source got mapped to the fields in Communication structure , other than those fields I find some fields(extra) in communication structure which are empty, I mean those fields did not get mapped .
1) what is the reason behind it , what is the main concept ?
2) how do I map these extra fields in communication structure ,and activate Transfer rules?

Hi Prarthana,
It is not mandatory that all the fields in Communication structure get mapped to the fields retrieved from source system. You can have extra fields in the communication structure means you can map some more fields from source using another data source by assigning same Infosource.
Without mapping them, you can activate Transfer rules and load data.
You can map them and load data into other fields using another datasource.

Error when transporting transfer rules

Hi, i got an error when i transport transfer rules. i got the following errors in various transfer rules:
Mapping between data source 0CUSTOMER_ATTR and source system EMP300 is inconsistent
AND
Reference to transfer structure 0CUSTOMER_ATTR_BB not available. No activation possible.
I tried to activate the data sources and transport them several times, but i got the same errors. Checking manually i can see the data sources active in my source system, in development and productive instances.

Do you choose the correct Transfer Structure in DEV?
I mean the one that is assigned to EMP300.
Are you saying that your PROD have the following:
0customer_text_BA
And that your DEV only have the following:
0customer_text_BB
If the answer to the above questions is YES;
Find out if some one has assigned ATTR to 0CUSTOMER directly in PROD or somebody has changed 0CUSTOMER_ATTR in DEV without transporting it to PROD.
I think that one way to resolve this problem is to use the option "overwrite origanls" in STMS.
Use it with caution and do not mass transport when you use this option.

It is not mendatory that u need to write Update routines for all update rules. It depends on the requirement. Without update routine u can always manage. My last implementation was for a small chemical firm where i did not use any of the update routine. Suppose if u want to change the records in datapackage depending on certain conditions, then u can go for this. I'm just pasting one of my update routine program

Error handling in Transfer rules

Hi All,
I have a small code for material mappnig (EAN to SAP) in my transfer rules. If mapping does not exist then I am writting Error message(Type E) in error table G_T_ERRORLOG and setting up value of Returncode to 1.
Also I have done the Error Handling in Infopackage to 1000 Records and selected the radio button "Valid records update, reporting possible(request green)".
Now say I am uploading 5000 records. In that 500 are without mapping.
So, in ideal case system should update request with 4500 records in data target(with status Green) and also create another request with those 500 records(with status Red). In my case it is creating the new request but with zero records and also the request with 4500 records are showing status red, though 4500 records are getting updated in ODS.
But when I do the same validation in Update rules it all works fine. The only difference in coding is, in transfer rules error table is G_T_ERRORLOG and in update rules it is MONITOR.
Any help....

In the transfer rules, if returncode is not 0, the upload stop,so..
Actually I delete the "wrong" data in the start routine of the transfer rules

Transfer Rule Inactive for Hierarchies

Hi All
I have a Typical Problem. i have activated some datasources (3.5) for Hierarchies. we have total four of them. these are working perfectly fine in Dev and we have successfully transported them to QA without issues. But wen we transport the same to Prod one of the transfer rule is giving an error. when we transport only this transfer rule and the corresponding DS, it becomes active, but another one goes inactive. if we transport all the four again, first one again becomes inactive and the other three are active.
eg : i have four transfer rules A, B , C and D. When i transport them A is active and the other 3 are active. so i transported only A with the DS and the communication structure, C becomes inactive. so we transported all the four again. now A becomes inactive. the Transport requests (logs) do not give any error.
we are using Bi 7.0 System.
Has anyone faces this issue. and help me out to rectify the same.

Can you please elaborate on "it is not letting me change"? What error do you get? This should not happen in development system.
May be someone is keeping the object locked. Highly likely that you are keeping it locked in a different session. Close all the sessions and try again.
If the object is locked and you want to forcibly unlock it, use transaction SM12.

Problems in transport of Transfer rules

I am trying to transport my objects from development to production. The problems is that not all the objects are getting transported. the cubes and infoobjects are going fine but the transfer rules and communication structure are all pointing to my development source system and hence fails during transport.
How can i transport my transfer rules without specifying the source system or point to my prodcution source system?

Source systems are not transport portable. They have to be created in your BW_PRD system.
Assuming you have the source systems created in your BW_PRD system, example R3_PRD. then you need to do the following.
In BW_DEV you have datasources mapped to your R3_DEV system. So you need to tell your BW_PRD system that any transport with a source of R3_DEV, change it to R3_PRD.
Go to your BW_PRD system, log in and go to transaction
Go to RSA1.
Then go to the menu bar and select Tools -> "Conversion of Source System names"
You may have no entries, if you do not, hit "New Entries"
Then in the "OriginalSource System" box type in the name of your development R3 system, example R3_DEV. then in the "Target Source system" type in the name of your production system, example R3_PRD.
Save, exit and re-transport all the parts.
That should do it.
I made the assumtion that you are in 2004s/BI7.0. If not go to the RSLOGSYSMAP table and do the exact same steps.
Note: This is normally a basis function, and you will need pretty elivated rights to do this in your production environment (well you should ).

Activating transfer rules for new source system

we are having 2 R/3 source system in BI. I had activated all the transfer rules with the first source system and now i have created a new source sytem connecting to a different R/3 client. I tried to change the transfer rules point to the new source system using the program RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL giving the new source system and the infosource name. But i get the error "No Transfer Structure Selected" when i execute the prg.
how can i change the source system without creating the transfer rules for the new source but use the existing transfer rules and just change the source system assigned to it????

Hi Sujai,
There are many cases when this program is used.
When the Trans rules get de-activated due to impact,we need to first replicate the data source and activate the TR using this program.This generally occurs during the data loads in prd.
It does not makes sense to transport it when there r no changes done to the TR.So simply,u can use this program to activate.
If the program does not work,then you are left with the transport option.

Upgradition issue in transfer rules

Hello Gurus,
please give me solution for this issu.
Debited Company Code (0DEBT_CMPC) appears in our existing transfer rules, and hence has been loaded from R/3 in the past, but the field is not used as a characteristic in the cube. In ECC6.0 the field apparently does not exist; activating the transfer rules in BW gives the error message shown below. I have already replicated datasources twice; that by itself has not fixed the problem.
I checked "where used" for it and it appears only in the transfer rules. I am therefore inclined to delete it from the transfer rules and try again to activate them, but I am reluctant to do that without your concurrence. What is your opinion?

0CO_PC_PCP_10 System not Proposing Transfer Rules

Hi All,
I want to install and get the transfer rules for this 0CO_PC_PCP_10 data source but when I activate the data source it is not proosing content transfer rules also when I checked in BI content I am not able to see any tranfer rules for this data source.
Also when I check in RSA3 extractor is throwing error without any error details.
My BI content version is 703 level 5
and SAP BW version is 700 level 20
I think it might be due to content version.
Please suggest what coulld be the problem.

Thanks for you answer, but the problem is not on the bw, but on the ECC. The field quantities is using the data definition from menge in the function module. Menge is defined as 3 decimals. The problem is that when the function module loop over the levels of the exploded cost estimation the precision of the calculation is getting lower and lower.
So my question is if there exits a hotfix from SAP to the solution or do SAP provide any other business content datasource with exploded costestimation which do not have the same limitation as 0co_pc_pcp_03.

The deletion of the communication structure for InfoSource 8ZPOS_O13 is not possible. InfoObject 0BASE_UOM of the communication structure is still being used. This use must be undone first.
Concretely the communication structure of an InfoSource can only be deleted if there are no update rules for InfoCubes and no transfer structures for source systems for this InfoSource.
System response
Activity was finished without database change.
Procedure
Check the use of your InfoSource 8ZPOS_O13 in the transfer structures. Delete all existing transfer structures of your InfoSource 8ZPOS_O13.
Check the use of your InfoSource 8ZPOS_O13 in update rules for InfoCubes. Delete all existing update rules for your InfoSource 8ZPOS_O13.
Afterwards, you can delete your communication structure for InfoSource 8ZPOS_O13.
where as i have deleted all update rule for the infosource ZPOS_O13 . but still i m not able to change it .
I have check ed it and it not lock in any req . so please let me know how can i proceed .

hi Jain,
you may need to check the transfer structures,
right click infosource and 'change', click 'comm.structure'/expand,
click 'transfer', move the 0BASE_UOM from left to right side,
or if you wont use the comm structure anymore, you can right click infosource and 'delete comm structure'
