High CPU for itunes and windowserver

I was away for a bit and when I returned I noticed a strange sound from my iMac. For some reason the hard drive was ticking furiously. Since I didn't use the computer I checked Activity Monitor. For some reason iTunes had 40-50% CPU and WindowServer used around 30%. Sure iTunes was running, but no song was playing.
Checking Hard Drive Activity I could see HDD was constantly reading approx 2,3 MB/s. Reading/second in was steadily at 400, and data read was 3,11 GB and climbing rapidly.
Has anyone else this problem? Has this something to do with the new iTunes 10.6.1 or Mac OS X 10.7.4 or a combination? What is wrong, and what can I do about it??
This has continued for a couple of days and restarts. No change.

I can't see why iTunes needs to read the disk constantly just becaouse of cover flow. Do you think this is a bug? I have never noticed this heavy load before, and iTunes almost always is in cover flow.
That's interesting ... I'm not sure if your one is a bug or not. (The Mini Player one seems to be: it showed up for folks with 10.6.0.x and has persisted through 10.6.1.7, as far as I can tell.)

I accepted a recent update for iTunes and now my version of Spin Doctor can't communicate with iTunes, specifically, I can't get music files to go over to iTunes. Spin Doctor gives me a message indicating that iTunes isn't working properly.
I am using iTunes 9.1.1(12) and Spin Doctor 3.1.1.304t. I have investigated upgrading the Spin Doctor but I think too much time has passed and the version available are too far advanced.
Any ideas? Can I undo the iTunes upgrade? Is there a website that I can go to to get the upgrade for my Spin Doctor?

If your iMac is an Intel CPU model, you can upgrade the OS to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
Then use software update to update 10.6 Snow Leopard to OS X 10,6.8.
Then you can run the latest iTunes to sync your iPad running iOS 6

We solved our problem it was caused because we were routing in and out the same L3 interface.
Fixed this issue and our CPU dropped dramatically.

You need to go to System Preferences (this may be called Settings in Mountain LIon)>iCloud and sign out. Then sign in with the new ID.

To the best of my knowledge, Windows is not capable of setting a specific sound card based on the app being used, it's all or nothing.
Try a google search or search the Microsoft site.

It sounds like you have a credit card saved to your Apple ID payment information and you would like it to be removed from the account and set the payment method to None. You should be able to do this with the following article:

Same external drive for iTunes and Zune?

Hi all,
I have an external drive that holds all of my music, which is for iTunes and my iPods. I used to have Zune players, and recently found them in a box. I tried to set up Zune on my brothers PC, but it doesn't read my external drive. I just saw that my external is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Is there a format I can use that would work on both a Mac an a PC?
If not, I can format another drive I have so it would work on the PC. I would then like to transfer my music from my Mac OS Extended (Journaled ) to the other drive. Will it work, or will the music files also still be M OE E (Journaled)?

Figured it out. I just formated a seperate external drive to DOS Fat and copied the music from the Mac OS Extened external drive. I was able to put the music on my Zunes and it worked, even as MP4's.

I am unable to install the newest update for itunes and quicktime because of a bonjour error about path not being located

I have windows 7 and I have been trying to install the newest update for itunes and quicktime but I keep receiving the same Bonjour error. I even tried to do it manually and no luck. I also tried to unistall bonjour but it would not even allow me to unistall it either. No matter what I do I get the same error listed below:

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on 25 June 2010. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
