High CPU usage Adobe flash player 8, 9 or 10

Does anyone know if Adobe has solved High CPU usage at all
when using Adobe flash player in general?
I know aswell that the animation/video also needs to meet
some guideline regarding best practise for better performance

  • High CPU Usage with Flash Player 11

I am not sure what the problem is but ever since I had those issues I went back to flash archive and installed a previous version that did not come with the flash plug in and I never had any problem with it since I am currently using the Adobe flash version 10 plug in with an adobe flash player active X. and I find out it was the new flash plug in that is the issue it suck all your ram. If you get some people who is having the same issues where flash player is duplicating and eating all their ram then ask them to try the version 10 plug in with the flash 11 active x it will work fine. I tried to run the version 10 flash as a complete set but some dynamic site that plays videos require a later version of flash active x to work and will be asking for an update however by keeping the flash 10 plug in there won't be any other issues. Adobe need to find out what is wrong with the new flash plug in and run a comparison with the flash 10 plug in. I hope this will help some user to get over the issues that made my online experience a nightmare for a while too.

The best way to get a resolution is to address your individual issue.  Your complaint is that RAM usage is high, which is unrelated to the thread from the guy on Mac that was seeing High CPU usage on high definition video.
In order to fix the issue that you're describing, we need to be able to reproduce it.  Please provide the information below, and the results of the basic troubleshooting steps as you work through them.  This will help us narrow down the root-cause, and allow us to find comparable hardware in our compatibility lab to reproduce the issue with.
    Basic Troubleshooting Info
To help troubleshoot we'll need the following system information:
    - Operating system
    - Browser
    - Flash Player version - http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html
    - Antivirus/Anti-Malware software and versions
The first step is to work through the video troubleshooting guide for your operating system, here:
    - Windows - http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html
    - Mac - http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.htm
When reporting issues with video or audio, it's also helpful to get your system hardware and driver details.  Instructions for finding this information can be found here:
    - Windows - http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_For_Windows_users
    - Mac - http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_For_Mac_OS_users
Finally, sometimes video and audio problems are caused at a lower level and not directly related to Flash Player.  I recommend trying both of the links below to see how they perform.  If the problem exists with both, then Flash Player is most likely not the culprit as the HTML5 video link does not use Flash Player when playing.  You can verify this by right clicking the HTML5 video and looking for the words "About HTML5" at the bottom of the menu.
    - HTML5 video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTl3U6aSd2w&html5=True
    - Non-HTML5 video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTl3U6aSd2we
    Thanks!

  • [help] high cpu usage with flash (Hello adobe developer)

Running youtube or facebook games, here's what I found. CPU usage rises to 90-100% or 90-100 % of a core.
Tested in XP32/Win7 64. Clean setups. Tested with Flash 9, 10, 10.1 rc's. Used uninstallers, reinstalled and so on. Googled on this, read many threads, such as granting permission on several files. Tested with IE, Firefox, Chrome. SAME stuff. Tested on an e8400 with P35 chipset, i3 530 with P55 chipset, e7400 with nvidia ion chipset, tested with 7[3|6]00gt's, gts 250.. So yes, I've tried a lot of things. And many different drivers too. I am now only pointing fingers at flash.
PC gets sluggish, laptops run out of battery fast. I can usually fix a lot of technicals issues on my own, but I'm TOTALLY stuck here. I should also add that, cpu usage rises only when there is motion. I can watch an .avi movie or play some 3D game, and they won't suck the cpu totally. I can remember in the past, flash won't do this. Flash won't drag the system down. Something is SERIOUSLY wrong.
Can an Adobe dev comment please?

I find it strangely odd that you've never seen this phenomenon, but at least you must have heard of it. Google flash high cpu usage. Facebook games flash lag. Or something alike. Mind moving my thread there? So there won't be a dupe thread.
I posted a similar thread in mozilla forums to see what they have to see, since i notice lag is more apparent in firefox than in ie, although both hog up cpu.
As you can see, I'm not alone.

My installation _of_ what? Let's see, I tried to replicate this in the most bare environment. With nothing else installed, and  default Windows 7 drivers, I installed flash from the web, plugin only first, then activex, did the testing, same stuff. Installed OLD 183 drivers, tested with 197 drivers, then 256 beta drivers. Same deal.

  • Incredibly high CPU usage with Flash plugin

    Hi all,
I'm using Safari 4.0.3 with the last Flash Plugin version (10.0.32.18) that I just uninstalled and then reinstalled, and I got an incredibly high cpu usage while viewing an Youtube video.
Here is a screenshot of Activity monitor that shows you the percentage.
    http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/7186/schermata20091106a13590.png
Sometimes the Safari process reach even 50% while the FlashPlugin one runs at 110%-120%.
Is that normal? With other browsers like Camino or Firefox, the CPU usage for the same video drops to 50%-60% max.
    Thank you,
    Silentheaven

  • High CPU usage on Flash Builder 4.5

    Hi
I’s experiencing serious high CUP usage when working with Flash Builder 4.5.
It happens when I start editing a relatively large .as file (~700 lines of code). Utilization then goes up to 50% and stays in this condition forever. This makes editing and debugging impossible – everything works very slowly including my computer.  Once you close the edited file (which is the only file in editor), utilization is back to normal.
    Some more details:
I have two projects in my workspace. One is closed. I cannot share the project.
    Flex SDK 4.5.1 (upgraded lately)
Working on Windows XP Professional SP3.  4GB RAM.
    Workspace-log is attached
    I tried the following
Reinstalling Flash Builder – no change
Uninstall SVN subclipe version that I installed as described here - http://www.flashmagazine.com/tutorials/detail/setting_up_subversion_with_adobe_flash_build er_4/ - no change
Network monitor is disabled (this is a standard version of FB)
Quit FB, open it and just load the .as file without debugging or launching any application – same problem.
Edit FlashBuilder.ini and eclipse.ini and change the values to -Xms512m -Xmx768m – same problem
Reinstalled FB for the second time and just loaded the same files as before – same issue.
Needless to say it is very problematic as I’m disabled from working for several days already.
    Need your prompt support.
    Thanks, Charlie

    Hi
I installed an earlier version of FB 4.5 without help. I also tried new work space, new project sources etc - no help.
I suspect it has to do with some collision with internal resources.
    Questions to the Adobe team
    - How can I inspect where the FB.exe is looping?
    - How can I inspect the interaction between FB and its Java VM?
    Thanks
    Charlie

  • High CPU usage with Flash

I was watching a video on Revision 3.com and after a few minutes my MacBook's Fan was screaming to pump out air. I quickly opened my Activity Monitor and I could not believe how maxed out my CPU cores were! Then I noticed too that Flash only runs in 32 bit while almost ever process was running in 64bit. Is that part of the problem. I went to the Adobe site and found more complaints on this but no solution. Is it just a matter of waiting for Flash to update and hopefully make it use less CPU cycles.
    Or is their a fix?

Reinstalled leopard and Flash working correctly again.
I guess I will wait until Snow Leopard and Adobe Flash play nice to reinstalled Snow leopard.

  • Adobe Flash Player 11.5 r502 causes CPU overload

Every time I start my MacBook Air, the fans go to high speed and Adobe Flash Player causes the CPU to run at 300% until I quit that process. Version is 11.5 r502 which has a date 12/11/2012. Problem is that without Adobe Flash Player none of the videos on CNN will play. Is anyone else having this problem? Any fix? Thanks!

I'd recommend trying the troubleshooting steps outlined in this FAQ:

  • High cpu usage when using flash player

    Hi,
Just updated to Mavericks and now I'm having very high cpu usage while watching streams using flash player. CPU usage is somewhere around 110% and after a moment the stream starts to lag and fps is slowing down. I also tried using Chrome but with no difference. Flash player is the newest version 11.9.900.117.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

i think its the best to hit the report a problem button in safari, since its appears since i updated safari to 5.1.4! maybe they make a additional update

    I'm afraid not.

    Sorry, no.
    I appreciate any suggestions ,
Safari menu, Safari Extensions, ClickToFlash.  Lets you only use as much flash as you want.

  • High CPU usage when playing flv files with flash

As more and more FLV videos are moving to HD, I'm noticing
high CPU usage and lots of dropped frames when playing FLV video in
web browser with Flash 10. This is true even if the video isn't
full screen. I've tried a variety of browsers (Firefox, I.E.,
Chrome) and the problem occurs on all of them so it's pretty clear
    it's a limitation in Flash.
Now my PC isn't high end (it has a Pentium M 1.86 GHz
processor), but I can take those same FLV files and load them in
something like Media Player Classic or Windows Media Player (when
using ffdshow) and play the FLV files full screen with little or no
drop in frames and an acceptable CPU rate.
This is especially annoying on sites like YouTube where I
actually have to save the video and play it back in something other
than Flash to have it play back at an acceptable rate. This doesn't
work for other sites like Amazon.
Why is the CPU usage so high when decoding and displaying
videos when compared to other media players?

I've been doing research about this excessively high CPU usage problem (100%!) for weeks because I have also experienced it with my vista home premium laptop. Just recently, I have finally found the solution. The problem is not your browser or your OS or your pc's memory. The problem is caused by authorization for flash player.
Read the link (posted below) carefully and follow the steps accordingly. If you have already done steps 1 through 6 with your computer, you can go straight to step 7.

  • Flash causing abnormally high CPU usage and overheating when browsing internet

    Hello,
Flash Player (Safari Internet plug-in) spikes to 110-120% of my CPU usage while browsing the internet. This also causes my computer to overheat. (This also occurs when using Firefox)
I am running OSX 10.8.4 and I am using Adobe Flash Player 11.8.800.94
I have tried uninstalling through the Adobe uninstaller and resetting Safari and my computer.
I contacted apple care and they said it was a problem with Adobe and I needed to contact you guys.
    Thank you for your help.
    Justin

The link you posted is fine. its only around 9%

  • Adobe Flash player (I ran scan & got "You have version 9,0,45,0 installed") works on internet explorer emails, BUT it does not work using firefox keeps giving me a pop up need Flash 9 or higher.

I have Adobe Flash player 9 or higher (I ran your scan-You have version 9,0,45,0 installed) and it always works with Internet Explorer emails BUT every time I click to open incoming email I get a pop up "need to install flash 9 or higher". What can I do? Can I get rid of it? It only happens in internet mail.

Visit [http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ this Adobe page] with both browsers to update your Flash version; Firefox uses a different install than IE, so having one doesn't mean you have the other.

  • I downloaded adobe flash player 11.4 r402, my cpu overheats all the time now.

I am running winodows vista with firefox 17.0.1 and I downloaded adobe flash player 11.4 r402. Whenever flash is used on a page or I use realplayer my cpu starts to overheat. this player is constantly using too much of my cpu and I have to end process the player.  is there a fix for this or an update?  I have tried to downgrade my flash player but the older versions cannot play youtube and realplayer vids.

I just downloaded  version 11.7.700.202  now and tried a Youtube vid and that version is using 44 - 55 % of my cpu for the vid.   I never had this issue before updating to 11.4 and i have been having it ever since.
