High CPU utilization (80%+) most of the time
We have a windows 2008 server, 4 proc machine hosting a jboss turnkey install of LC, experiencing high CPU utilization most of the time (80%+). Memory utilization remains low. Anyone experiencing this?

Firefox keeps freezing and using 50% cpu and memory usage shoots up real fast and carries on going till it uses up all there is left. Most of the time it's when there's an auto update of anything addon, plugin or ff but not just neccessarily then! I find out it's happened when there's been an update after i restart and an extra webpage comes up with the particular addon/plugin/ff update. I have to restart most of time because nothing sorts it out. I'm using windows xp with the latest update of ff 13.0.1 it's not this version because it's been happening for a while. And it never started when i added a particular addon or plugin or when i added a new app to my pc either. Any idea as to what this may be or how i'd sort it out?
CheersMaybe disable hardware acceleration? This article should help: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-uses-too-much-memory-ram

Desktop Window Manager high CPU utilization
I have several Windows 2012 servers that are showing high CPU utilization (70% or higher) coming from the Desktop Window Manager. I do not have the Desktop Experience feature installed on these machines. The interesting thing is that the process
for dwm.exe does not show up as a service that I can stop or restart. I've read through the various posts about re-registering dmw.exe so that the service shows up again, but nothing has worked. Since these are application and file servers with
no need for regular desktop use, I don't really need any fancy desktop graphics or performance. I have the Advanced Performance Options set to 'Background services'. Can anyone tell me how to stop dwm.exe or at least reduce it's CPU footprint?
Thanks,
JoeHi Joe,
Based on my research, On Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012, DWM is used at all times and cannot be disabled.
For more detailed information, please refer to this article:
Desktop Window Manager is always on:
To troubleshoot the high usage of CPU, I would like to recommend to follow this article to collect and analyse the relevant log files and dump files:

If you want to analyse the dump file, I also recommend you can open case and contact Microsoft support.
I hope this helps. -
3G High CPU utilization when waking
Recently gave my iPhone 3G to my wife, restored it to a new phone, then synced it with her information, music, applications, etc. She previously had used an iPod touch, and basically was trying to upgrade her to an iPhone.
The phone worked fine when I had it. I only had a short time with this specific phone as it was replaced under Apple Care about a week and a half before turning it over.
Now it pretty consistently is unresponsive when trying to wake it. By bringing up the System Activity Monitor App as soon as possible after powering it up, and leaving that app active when putting it to sleep I can see that the CPU gets slammed for a while during initial startup and has a significant period of very high CPU when waking. At this point I believe the cause of the unresponsive behavior is that the CPU is maxed out doing something.
I've compared the running processes to an iPhone 3Gs and they were identical except the 3G was missing the MobileMusicPlaye until I brought up the iPod on that phone.
There are 2 things about the initial setup of this phone for my wife that are causing me some concern;
1) When first connected to iTunes after the Factory Reset I was prompted to restore an older backup than the iPod Touch one I took right before the swap. I didn't realize it at the time and accepted that restore.
2) I was prompted to upgrade and followed through with an upgrade to 3.1.2 after the Factory Reset even though the phone was at 3.1.2 before the swap.
At this point I'm thinking about doing another Factory reset and set it up by sync only (no restore) but not looking forward to the time investment that will take.
Any ideas on where the high CPU utilization is coming from on wake? Is that a reasonable theory that the high CPU is causing it to be unresponsive when first woken up.
Any other insight from others that have been through this?I ended up restoring the 3G phone to Factory settings and then sync'ing the desired information / applications onto it (did not restore the previous backup). The behavior is improved but this phone does seem to get bogged down when waking (observing high CPU utilization when monitoring with System Activity Monitor and experiencing sluggish / jerky response to user actions with no applications or just Mail running). The periods of non-responsiveness are not as long or as severe at this point, but still noticeable.
I'm at a loss since under the conditions I'm observing this there is nothing but Apple software running on the device (behavior is present with or without SAM showing me the CPU utilization). I'm a little suspicious that it might have something to do with re-establishing the WiFi connection, but it seems to continue for a bit after the WiFi icon appears in the status bar.
I'm probably going to make a genius appointment to see if they have any other ideas. -
High CPU utilization on CSS 11501 version sg0750303
Hi everyone,
I have the problem about High CPU utilization on CSS 11501 version sg0750303.
Our customer has used one pair of CSS 11501 (active-standby).
As a matter of convenience, called "Old CSS" after here in this post.
However traffic via Old CSS had been increasing so customer decided to add one more
pair (active-standby) of CSS to separate traffic.
Yesterday we installed new two CSS 11501 version sg0750303 (active-standby).
As a matter of convenience, called "New CSS" after here in this post.
Today, active CSS 11501 and standby CSS 11501 which were installed yesterday (New CSSs)
indicates High CPU utilization.
Active CSS 11501:
Peak CPU utilization: about 85%
Average CPU Utilization: about 60%
Standby CSS 11501:
Peak CPU utilization: about 40%
Average CPU Utilization: unknown
I do not understand why CPU utilization of both New CSSs become high.
The traffic pass through New CSS less than Old CSS, because the traffic is separated into
Old CSS and New CSS.
And CSS's configuration parameters (service, content, access-list) also less than Old CSS,
because real servers are also separated into Old CSS and New CSS.
Old CSS indicated average of CPU utilization about 20% before installing New CSSs yesterday,
in spite of all traffic pass through Old CSS only.
I wrote "New CSS remains High CPU utilization", however end users do not feel the
performance issue (e.g., performance delay, communication failure and so on) and
the traffic pass through New CSS normally.
So I have the question "CSS 11501 sg0750303 remains High CPU utilization on normal situation ?"
And customer uses MTRG to poll SNMP for Old CSSs and New CSSs.
So I have the question "CSS 11501 sg0750303 become High CPU utilization in case of receiving
SNMP polling ?".
Or if this situation is abnormal we need to start investigation.
Would you please let me know how do we investigate this situation.
I found the DDTS CSCek57080 "Performance issue using arrowpoint-cookie with ASR".
Release note of this DDTS says that
A customer was using a CSS pair configuration where arrowpoint-cookie
is being used along with a redundant-index on many content rules. When
the flow rate increased to a few hundred flows/sec, the peer message
queue of the CSS receiving ASR related message began to fill up.
When the peer message queue became over subscribed, the CPU increased
and the CSS became unstable.
New CSSs have configured redunrant-index on two content rules, and end users do not feel the
performance issue (e.g., performance delay, communication failure and so on) and
the traffic pass through New CSS normally.
So I think this DDTS does not related to this case.
Your information would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,Gilles,
Thank you very much for your cooperation.
I got the capture you instructed us.
The following are additional information from our customer.
At time user traffic path through the active CSS, active CSS indicates;
CPU utilization always range of 30% - 40%
Peak CPU utilization about 60% - 80%
At time there is no user traffic pass through active CSS, active CSS indicates;
CPU utilization always range of 0% - 5%
Attached files are named "Active CSS.log" and "Standby CSS.log".
"Active CSS.log" is captured on active CSS and "Standby CSS.log" is captured on
standby CSS.
I found the following process is using resource by looking the output of
"shell 1 1 spyReport" command.
On active CSS,
tFlowMgrPktR 8ba24070 50 26% ( 1469) 20% ( 26)
On standby CSS,
fmPeerMsgTas 8a511510 50 16% ( 176) 10% ( 7)
Your comment would be greatly appreciated.

High CPU Utilization on PIX-535
Hi All,
We are using Pix 535 as an external FW in our network and we are expiriencing high CPU utilization. The CPU is jumping to 60%-70% every 60 min.
I am using Cacti to monitor all the interfaces and we don't have a huge traffic that interface. Also I could not see any corolation between the traffic and the CPU graph. See below the screenshut of the CPU from Cacti:
Yesterday I changeed the perfmon setting to 3000000 and the CPU dropped down to 26%-30% for around 2hr and then it us started again to jump every 60min.
We are about to replace our Pix but in the meantime we are suffering from disconnetion , and slowness in our network.
Anybody has this issue?

High CPU Utilization in 7603 router with RSP720-10GE
Hi everyone
We have a 7603 router with "RSP720-10GE" and we have high cpu utilization due to high amount of interrupts.
The output of “show cef drop” and “show ip cef switching statistics” commands show lots of packets that have been dropped by CEF.
But CEF is enabled on every physical interfaces and on every GRE tunnel that we have on this router.
As I understand the output of “show ip cef switching statistics” command shows some of the reasons for CEF dropping packets like “Routed to Null0” but I don’t know how to solve them. For example I can’t delete routes to Null0 because it’s going to cause routing loops in our network. Could you please help meHey,
The output shows high interrupt to CPU, So collect the last output multiple times to see if the DROP values are incrementing. Also configure NetDr captures to see what packets are punted to CPU. I am adding a link for same:

Airport Process utilizing high CPU utilization
I currently have a 13 inch MacBook Pro i7 (2012 version). Recently I upgraded to Mavericks. After using the computer for a day after the upgrade, I began to notice it becoming very hot and the fans running very high. Looking at the running processes i noticed that a process called "airport" was running and utilizing high CPU times causing the heating up and fans running. Once I stopped this process, the laptop went back to operating at normal levels.
Unfortunately this issue began to come back several times....the "airport" process starting at any time and utilizing high CPU utilization....again only by killing this process fixed this issue.
After seeing this behavior over several days, I decised to wipe the drive and install a clean copy of Mavericks in the computer. Thought here was that possibly something did not carry over correctly from the upgrade from Mountain Lion to Mavericks. Unfortunely this did not correct the issue with the "airport" process as it still is continiung to launch at any time and spike the processor until I manually kill the process.
I do not recall this issue occuring while running Mountain Lion so it seems to be specific to Mavericks at this point.
I was hoping to hear if any other have experienced this type of issues while running Mavericks. You should be able to find the information you are looking for from the default Total CPU Utilization Percentage monitor. This monitor has a built in diagnostic task that will kick off when an alert is triggered to list the top cpu consuming processes.
To find which processes were causing CPU to spike, simply review the State Change Events history in health explorer for the machine that was affected, for the Total CPU Utilization Percentage monitor. I have modified my second screen shot
to remove machine names, but you should get the idea. If a cpu monitor went from green to red, it will run the diagnostic task and list the process information and cpu usage at the time of the alert under state change events. -
I have no idea whether there is a causal relationship but since moving to Lion and iCloud, my iMac has become so unresponsive that I wind up having to crash and restart most of the time. This is true regardless of the app I am using at the time.
The specs of this iMac are:
iMac 27 inch, late 2009 model with a 3.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 Gig 1067 Mhz DDR3, using OSX Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
I have Mackeeper installed and according to the scans I have run, everything is fine. No virus, no junk files . . . no problems at all . . .
Except that for all practical purposes, my computer isn't working.
I am nearly totally deaf and live in an isolated, rural area of NW Missouri and this computer is what I mainly rely on to contact friends, relatives and business associtates!
Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated!First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive may be failing.
If you have more than ten or so files or folders on your Desktop, move them, temporarily at least, somewhere else in your home folder.
If iCloud is enabled, disable it.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, and monitor, if applicable. Launch the usual set of applications you use when you notice the problem.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Step 2
You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way as above. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Post the 50 or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out before posting. -
My icloud emails arent arriving most of the time and a few days ago my iphone and ipad started showing "Can't Get Mail" box. This has not happened before since I set up the iclud email address with the purchase of my ipad about a month ago.
That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it... -

1. Here is the query to get the pollerwise managed MIBObjects:
"select count (*), PollerName from Poller_Details_Table a,Poller_Definition_Table b where a.PollerId = b.PollerId and b.Poller_State NOT IN (1) Group by b.PollerName;"
2. Here is the query to get the total mibobject count for the active pollers
“select count (*) from Poller_Details_Table a,Poller_Definition_Table b where a.PollerId =

On the occasions when the windows fail to restore, I usually see a blank start page with something to the effect of "about:restore" or "about:restore session" in the URL line. I've tried pressing enter, but it didn't help. Other times, I've immediately tried going to the History menu, but the "Restore Previous Session" menu pick is faded out. I followed the help posted here to activate the restore windows feature, but the windows still fail to restore most of the time. I'm not a techie, so I'd really appreciate some easy to understand help.
The DMP file is inconclusive. You could run driver verifier to find the underlying issue but WPR is often easier.
In order to diagnose your problem you will need to download and install the below
Install the WPT (windows Performance Toolkit)
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30652
Help with installation (if needed) is here
When you have, open an elevated command prompt and type the following
WPRUI.exe (which is the windows performance recorder) and check off the boxes for the following:
First level triage, CPU usage, Disk IO.
If you problem is not CPU or HD then check off the relevant box/s as well (for example networking or registry) Please configure your as per the below snip
Click Start
It will reboot 3 t imes and record the data to a file and tell you its name and location.
Zip the file and upload to us on Onedrive (or any file sharing service) and give us a link to it in your next post.
These crashes were related to memory corruption (probably caused by a driver).
Please run these tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.
If you are overclocking (pushing the components beyond their design) you should revert to default at least until the crashing is solved. If you don't
know what it is you probably are not overclocking.
Since it is more likely to be a driver please run verifier first.
1-Driver verifier (for complete directions see our wiki here)
If verifier does not find the issue we can move on to this.
2-Memtest. (You can read more about running memtest here)

Yosemite slow boot .... most of the time
I use EtreCheck to see what's running on my system.
One such check showed this:
A little research showed that Warmd 'controls caches used during startup and login. It is a launch daemon started by launchd during boot and is not mean to be invoked directly.'
Besides this single occurrence, I have not been able to see warmd creating a problem since. (and I run EntreCheck after any slow startup)
Additionally, my 'slow startup' happens irregularly. About 95% of the time. Isn't that weird?!
Most of the time my system (defined below) just hangs at the progress bar for about 1.25 minutes. Then starts.
Apple, what is your take on this?

NSAPI plugin has high CPU utilization on Sunone web server 6.0 SP5
Hi,
I am running WL 6.1 SP3 with pluginProxy SP03 on Sunone web server 6.0SP5 on Solaris.
Seeing very high CPU utilization with 3 threads running wl_proxy (about 33% each).
Any latest NSAPI pluginproxy patch I can use to fix this?
WalterI'm having the same problems as all the above posts. I run a colloborative tool which uses IPlanet as a directory server and I receive the Event ID:25 Source: WebServer 6.0 error as well as Event ID:0 Source:https-admnserv6.0 which gives "the local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer". I have 3 servers built and all exhibit the same errors.
