High CPU when generating report

I'm running Zen 6.5 sp2 on Netware 6.5 sp7, and have C1 locally installed to my XP sp3 workstation. I have set up ODBC and successfully tested my connection.
I can get results from an inventory query with no problem, but when I try to generate one of the canned software reports and search for 1 piece of software, my C1 starts using a ton of memory and the CPU on my server jumps to 97-100% and stays there. After about 4 minutes, no results in my report, so I killed C1 and everything went back to normal. We only have about 300 workstations in inventory. Aside from the reporting problem, inventory seems to be running just fine. Any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks.

  • My macbook pro i7 (2011 version) has a loud fan and high cpu % when I have Skype on or when I am on Safari. Help please!

My macbook pro i7 (2011 version) has a loud fan and a high cpu % when I have Skype on or when I am on Safari. My laptop would sometimes freeze for a while and it is usually hot. Has anyone else encounter this problem and know how to fix it? Thanks!

Skype is a very resource intensive activity...it has been reported on here users are seeing cpu temperatures on the order of 80-85 °C, within the limits of the cpu, but still hot to the touch.
Make sure nothing else is running so you keep the thermal load down.

  • FileNotFoundException, IOException when generating reports

    Dear all,
My project is about basic CRUD operations and generate reports. When running on the Intergrated Weblogic Server (JDeveloper 11.1.1.2 version), everything's fine. But when deployed to the standalone Weblogic server, I get this error when generate the reports:
    * java.io.FileNotFoundException: null\ImportExportBillTmp.rtf ( The system can not find the path specified)
IOException when generating report java.io.FileNotFoundException: null\ImportExportBillTmp.rtf ( The system can not find the path specified).
I think this error has some relate to the weblogic configuration but do not have any clue where to start. Please share any suggestion you have.
    =============================================================
    I find the problems:
    * session.getServletContext().getRealPath("/reporttemplates") return null ; when it expected to return the real path of reporttemplates folder.
But the solution is still not found.
    Thanks.

Found the solution, it's not in the code. It's in the config of my web server.
For me it's Weblogic 10.3, you go to Home - <your domain> - Configuration - Web Application, set Archived Real Path Enabled to true. Restart server and everything works fine.
Hope this help anyone has the same problems like me.

  • Core switches experience High CPU while generating syslog report from LMS

    Hi Everyone,
Are there anyone who experience that the CPU utilization of some devices went up while generating a report from RME. Basing from other monitoring tool SNMP is taking up a huge cpu process. Any idea why this happened considering that the report is generated daily but only on one instance it caused the core switches to be paralyze due to high cpu. Changing the SNMP community string is the immediate action that resolve the issue to disconnect it from LMS.
    BTW, this is LMS 2.6.
    Thank you.

The problem did not reoccurred any more. When I checked on the Syslogcollector.log it appeared that it is unable to subscribe. I assumed that the reason why snmp packets were flooded during the time that it they experience high cpu is because the client is generating syslog report for all devices while the syslog collector is not subscribe. Is this possible?
    Thanks

  • Why does Lightroom 4.3 use very high cpu when waiting for user to click OK?

I saved metadata for 52 photos.
Lightroom 4.3 couldn't save metadata for 2 of the photos and opened a window to tell me so. (It had no problem saving metadata on second attempt.)

    I don't think so.
I have enough experience with LR to know what to expect for various activities.
Previews for all photos had been rendered long before I initiated the Save Metadata.
Metadata for 50 of the 52 files had already been written.
The high cpu had gone on for at least 5 minutes.   I switched to another app imediately after initiating the Save Metadata for the 52 files and only went back to LR when I heard my CPU fan running for a long time.
When I got back to LR, I saw the "Could not save metadata" window.  I clicked "Show in Library" and OK.  As soon as I did that, CPU usage went back to normal.
I've experienced the exact same scenario, where LR can't save metadata for all photos and I've never had LR get stuck consuming a very large amount of CPU.
As a test, I selected 118 other photos, changed metadata for all of them and then selected all and saved metadata.  LR took about 20 seconds to save metadata for all 118 and LR CPU usage never went above 17%.  The difference is that LR did not show the "Could not save metadata" window.

  • Ordering messed up when generating Report as Delimited on Server

    Hi folks,
Not sure if anyone else might have observed or faced this issue but thought I'd give it a try. I have an Oracle Report (Version 6i) and the output generated should be a tab delimited text file so the user can view the output in Excel. The Report output is sorted by Name. When I run the Report locally (Client) by doing File -> Generate to File -> Delimited (Delimiter Option: Tab), the Report works fine. The ordering is correct. However, when I am running it off the server (Using the option DELIMITED for the DESFORMAT), the ordering seems messed up. The ordering is maintained for quite a few rows and then a Name (out of order appears). Note that this record also appears in the correct place as well as above the place where its expected to be ... Here is an example:
    Name                     ID     BIRTH DATE
    ==========================================
    ALLAN, BRIAN             1001   1970/12/31
    ALLAN, SUSAN             2001   1968/01/01
    FRANCIS, JOHN            5001   1965/02/01
    BROWN, EDWARD            3001   1978/01/02
    BROWN, JENNY             4001   1976/04/01
    FRANCIS, JOHN            5001   1965/02/01
GRAHAM, DALE             6001   1980/10/10As you can see that FRANCIS, JOHN is appearing out of order and in order (Twice). This is not happening when I run it on the Client. Any ideas what may be causing this? I realize I don't have much information out here as I myself am at my wits end.
    Thanks

Is there any facility to assign physical page no. to an other variable?
    regards,

    Hi Kishore,
I have a report (D2K) of 10 pages. Normally for getting page no.s on report, we will have a field and we will assign source as physical page no. But if give like this, i am not getting page no.s when i am generating report format as XML.

  • High CPU when playing Minecraft

My MacBook Pro Retina Core i5 8GB RAM has abou 100% and more usage when playing and my cooling is loud, what to do?

I have searched all over the web too to find any solutions regarding the unavoidable problem of Macs with Adobe's Flash Player. There are little improvements of reducing the high CPU during Flash use on a Mac through changing your main browser to Opera, Camino ... BUT it is still a problem which cannot be solved for now. The following URL is from Adobe's Bug Website and explains exactly what is wrong with Flash on a Mac:
Very High CPU usage and thus High Fan speed.
    https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-890
Here's another link to a similar problem in the Apple Discussions:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8920577
And finally the comparison of CPU usage between Mac and Windows which shows very clear that there's obviously something MAJOR not working and Adobe has to fix it!
    http://arstechnica.com/software/news/2008/10/benchmarking-flash-player-10.ars
It is a shame that this problem is out for years and Adobe is NOT trying to fix it, or at least not as intense as they should. So this is the reason why many people all over the world have to live with their Mac running high fan and a hot CPU when just browsing the internet.

  • High CPU when Inactive?

    Hi,
I am happy with my Mac Air but have noticed a problem  & would welcome any ideas on how I diagnose this?
I normally use Safari, Email & a number of other open apps - and CPU jumps between 4-20%; this to me seems normal.
However, if I leave the Mac Air unattended; the screen saver comes on as it should - however, I notice after a few more minutes the fan comes on & if I then tab a key to bring out of screensaver - I see the CPU at 93-98%. Within a few seconds it reverst to normal (4-20%) and fan stops.
I have left the laptop for 30mins+ but can hear the fan continuous - only stops when I touch a key.
Ps, the screensaver is just the default & screen turns off after 15mins - yet high cpu seems to kick in whenever the laptop is inactive)
    Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    T

OK - I know this is an old topic, but I finally figured out what was causing my CPU spikes.  It turns out the offending process was "mscorsvw.exe", which compiles .NET assemblies in the background while my computer is idle:  http://blogs.msdn.com/b/davidnotario/archive/2005/04/27/412838.aspx
Running the command "ngen.exe executequeueditems" cleared up the problem.

  • X high CPU when using Java applications

Only recently, my Freemind program has become extremely sluggish and unresponsive (big lag) when moving my mind map around. Freemind is made with Java. If I move the mind map around, the X process shoots to 20% CPU, doesn't seem a lot but something between X and Java programs are really bringing their performance down.
I can barely use Freemind now. Freeplane is also affected.
I noticed if I keep the Freemind window really small, it's responsive. If I maximise it, everything slows down within the application. Adding new notes, or move the map around, shoots X to a high CPU and there is a 5+ second lag in anything I do in the app.
Is there anything I can do to improve performance? It's only started recently, everything is up-to-date.

    Hi
Try to use -Xloggc parameter with the jvm in order to see if problem comes on garbage colector. May be the mem usage is little and the gc thread is in active state. Try, also modify the mem usage with -Xms and -Xmx parameters and see the gc efects.
You can use the -Xprof to output cpu profiling data.
Also, find if there is a bug on servlet container / hard /SO you are using.
    Hope this helps

  • Firefox uses high cpu when playing online flash games like farmville in facebook

Whenever i open games in facebook, firefox uses up high CPU. I tried to install older version of firefox, new version everything has the same problem. There could be some compatibility issue with the adobe flash and firefox.
I am sure that some version works well, because i never had this problem before. Yesterday i had to re-install my XP and after re-install suddenly this issue started, which means this can be solved with proper versions of firefox and flash which i used before.
    Please help!!!!!!!

After I made sure I was running latest FireFox and Flash, I started disabling add-ons. It appears right now that Flashblock is the culprit, at least for me. If you have that, try disabling it.
Also, most of those Facebook flash games have some serious problems with memory leaks and bad programming. Is your problem specific to Facebook games or all flash games?

  • Parameter values getting lost when generating report to .pdf

    Report Builder 6.0.8.26.0
    I have a report which accepts 3 parameter, :v_id, :a, :b, :v_id is numeric, other char.
I display them on the report and use them in the query. When I run the report, everything is ok in the previewer and when I print a hard copy.
When I select generate -> pdf, the :a & :b parameters do not display on the report and the queries run the same as if I set :a & :b to a null value.
Anybody seen this and have anykind of fix. I know I can generate the script for the query and then use and external query & might have to, but I was trying to find something else.

    Hi Chris
I suggest you apply Reports and Forms Integrated patch on your setup. You can download the patch from metalink site.

  • Crashed when generating report to a file.

    I'm using Oracle 9i/Oracle Form 6i/Oracle Reports 6i.
When I run my report from my forms, I can preview it and print it fine. However, when I try to select anything from "generate to file" menu, the report will crash. My form and report works as the following:
The form stores some account number as a string of values. Then, the report read the strings and using a function to seperate it and store in the user parameters in the report. The sql will then read each account number and search for the records in the database.
I don't have problems to generate the pdf when I have less than 60 records. However, if the selected records is more than that, the report will crash when I use the option to "generate to file". Does anyone know why is this happening? Is there a limit on setting how much parameter on the reports?

Hello, Does the report looks ok when you run it in the Previewer?
