High CPU when playing Minecraft

My MacBook Pro Retina Core i5 8GB RAM has abou 100% and more usage when playing and my cooling is loud, what to do?

I have searched all over the web too to find any solutions regarding the unavoidable problem of Macs with Adobe's Flash Player. There are little improvements of reducing the high CPU during Flash use on a Mac through changing your main browser to Opera, Camino ... BUT it is still a problem which cannot be solved for now. The following URL is from Adobe's Bug Website and explains exactly what is wrong with Flash on a Mac:
Very High CPU usage and thus High Fan speed.
https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-890
Here's another link to a similar problem in the Apple Discussions:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8920577
And finally the comparison of CPU usage between Mac and Windows which shows very clear that there's obviously something MAJOR not working and Adobe has to fix it!
http://arstechnica.com/software/news/2008/10/benchmarking-flash-player-10.ars
It is a shame that this problem is out for years and Adobe is NOT trying to fix it, or at least not as intense as they should. So this is the reason why many people all over the world have to live with their Mac running high fan and a hot CPU when just browsing the internet.

  • Firefox uses high cpu when playing online flash games like farmville in facebook

Whenever i open games in facebook, firefox uses up high CPU. I tried to install older version of firefox, new version everything has the same problem. There could be some compatibility issue with the adobe flash and firefox.
I am sure that some version works well, because i never had this problem before. Yesterday i had to re-install my XP and after re-install suddenly this issue started, which means this can be solved with proper versions of firefox and flash which i used before.
    Please help!!!!!!!

After I made sure I was running latest FireFox and Flash, I started disabling add-ons. It appears right now that Flashblock is the culprit, at least for me. If you have that, try disabling it.
Also, most of those Facebook flash games have some serious problems with memory leaks and bad programming. Is your problem specific to Facebook games or all flash games?

  • CPU 100% When Playing Minecraft iMac

    Hi There!
As the title says, "CPU 100% When Playing Minecraft". Every time I boot up Minecraft the Fan becomes loud. I have another iMac (Late 2013) Model and it runs Minecraft fine with all the same settings. So I don't really no what to do. But if you could help me try to get the CPU usage down or maybe turn the fan down? Or something like that that would be great!!
    My iMac Specs.
    Mac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014)
Processor: 4 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4096 MB
So Yeah, if you could give me a hand, I would be so much appreciated!
    Thanks!

Firefox 3.6.6 Windows XP - often goes to 80-100% CPU even with only one tab open (in this case the one I'm writing this message on). When this happens the only cure is to kill it with task manager and start again.

  • My macbook pro i7 (2011 version) has a loud fan and high cpu % when I have Skype on or when I am on Safari. Help please!

My macbook pro i7 (2011 version) has a loud fan and a high cpu % when I have Skype on or when I am on Safari. My laptop would sometimes freeze for a while and it is usually hot. Has anyone else encounter this problem and know how to fix it? Thanks!

Skype is a very resource intensive activity...it has been reported on here users are seeing cpu temperatures on the order of 80-85 °C, within the limits of the cpu, but still hot to the touch.
Make sure nothing else is running so you keep the thermal load down.

  • V Nitro VN7-791 screen is flashing when playing Minecraft

Hello,I just got brand new Acer Aspire V Nitro VN7-791. I bought it for playing differnet games. I.m very disappointed when I tried to play Minecraft. The screen is constantly flashing in an irritating way. I tired to update display drivers and fix the video options, but the problems doesn't end. The strange thing is that other games run smoothly, f ex GTA V. Do you have same problems? Can you play Minecraft with your Acers? Any ideas to solve the problem? If I won't find a solution, I want my money back.

    YamoZ,
Make sure that the discreet graphics are set to run the game instead of the onboard Intel graphics chipset (CPU) to see if that makes a difference. It sounds like it is driver related, if you have not performed all your Windows updates. Be sure to check optional updates, there might be some there that could address this.

  • Why does Lightroom 4.3 use very high cpu when waiting for user to click OK?

I saved metadata for 52 photos.
Lightroom 4.3 couldn't save metadata for 2 of the photos and opened a window to tell me so. (It had no problem saving metadata on second attempt.)

    I don't think so.
I have enough experience with LR to know what to expect for various activities.
Previews for all photos had been rendered long before I initiated the Save Metadata.
Metadata for 50 of the 52 files had already been written.
The high cpu had gone on for at least 5 minutes.   I switched to another app imediately after initiating the Save Metadata for the 52 files and only went back to LR when I heard my CPU fan running for a long time.
When I got back to LR, I saw the "Could not save metadata" window.  I clicked "Show in Library" and OK.  As soon as I did that, CPU usage went back to normal.
I've experienced the exact same scenario, where LR can't save metadata for all photos and I've never had LR get stuck consuming a very large amount of CPU.
As a test, I selected 118 other photos, changed metadata for all of them and then selected all and saved metadata.  LR took about 20 seconds to save metadata for all 118 and LR CPU usage never went above 17%.  The difference is that LR did not show the "Could not save metadata" window.

  • High CPU when Inactive?

    Hi,
I am happy with my Mac Air but have noticed a problem  & would welcome any ideas on how I diagnose this?
I normally use Safari, Email & a number of other open apps - and CPU jumps between 4-20%; this to me seems normal.
However, if I leave the Mac Air unattended; the screen saver comes on as it should - however, I notice after a few more minutes the fan comes on & if I then tab a key to bring out of screensaver - I see the CPU at 93-98%. Within a few seconds it reverst to normal (4-20%) and fan stops.
I have left the laptop for 30mins+ but can hear the fan continuous - only stops when I touch a key.
Ps, the screensaver is just the default & screen turns off after 15mins - yet high cpu seems to kick in whenever the laptop is inactive)
    Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    T

OK - I know this is an old topic, but I finally figured out what was causing my CPU spikes.  It turns out the offending process was "mscorsvw.exe", which compiles .NET assemblies in the background while my computer is idle:  http://blogs.msdn.com/b/davidnotario/archive/2005/04/27/412838.aspx
Running the command "ngen.exe executequeueditems" cleared up the problem.

  • High cpu when change "mls cef maximum-route ip" to more than 512K

    Dear All
From cisco document 6500-sup720 and 7600-rsp720 are support IPv4 unicast and MPLS—512,000 routes by default. On my network we have route more than 400K which nearly reach to the limit then I tried to change from 512K to 1007K as below.
    Router#sh mls cef maximum-routes
    FIB TCAM maximum routes :
    =======================
    Current :-
    IPv4                - 1007k
    MPLS                - 1k
    IPv6 + IP Multicast - 8k (default)
After rebooted I got high cpu issue on both 6500-sup720 and 7600-rsp720 then I tried to tuning to other value such as 600K , 700K and so on but doesn't help.
    Summary
       - I have no cpu issue with default value for mls cef maximum-route
       - I have cpu issue when tuning to other value such as 600K , 700K
    Please advise.

  • X high CPU when using Java applications

Only recently, my Freemind program has become extremely sluggish and unresponsive (big lag) when moving my mind map around. Freemind is made with Java. If I move the mind map around, the X process shoots to 20% CPU, doesn't seem a lot but something between X and Java programs are really bringing their performance down.
I can barely use Freemind now. Freeplane is also affected.
I noticed if I keep the Freemind window really small, it's responsive. If I maximise it, everything slows down within the application. Adding new notes, or move the map around, shoots X to a high CPU and there is a 5+ second lag in anything I do in the app.
Is there anything I can do to improve performance? It's only started recently, everything is up-to-date.

    Hi
Try to use -Xloggc parameter with the jvm in order to see if problem comes on garbage colector. May be the mem usage is little and the gc thread is in active state. Try, also modify the mem usage with -Xms and -Xmx parameters and see the gc efects.
You can use the -Xprof to output cpu profiling data.
Also, find if there is a bug on servlet container / hard /SO you are using.
    Hope this helps

  • Droid Razr crashes when playing Minecraft

My Droid Razr froze up (crashed) twice when my son was playing Minecraft on my Android Razr. Any ideas why? It had been working fine for a month or more until this happened. I downloaded Minecraft Pocket Edition from Google Play (paid version), and everything was fine until recently.

The following will help you find and use it.
Try running the extended version of your Apple Hardware Test . It's not perfect, but may flag something.

  • Macbook Pro Heat... (when playing minecraft)

Hi. I got a MBP, and the only pc game I play is Minecraft. I have been playing it, and I get about 45-65 or more FPS with normal/far render distance and fancy high graphics. It runs very well, and the fan makes no noise.
The top of my laptop (in between the function keys and the screen) gets pretty darn hot. Like, I can put my finger there for as long as I want, but it's definetly very warm. My Dad says that 'They are supposed to run hot' and I completely trust him, I just am slightly concerned and would like other opinions.
I tried downloading the widget iStat, but the website iSlayer.com is down so the download from Apple does not work. So, I have no idea how hot my laptop is running.
    1. Is my Dad completely right? Is it supposed to run hot, but can that shorten it's lifespan?
    2. Is there an alternative free widget I can get?
    3. What is the best cooling device I should get that actually works?
    4. AND: biggest question: Is Minecraft supposed to run hot.
Extra Info: I opened Activity Monitor while I was playing and it said that only like 1 percent of the system's CPU was being used and only about 13-22 percent of my user CPU.

    1.  If you use CPU/GPU intensive applications, the MBP will heat up.  If that is all that you do with your MBP, the life span will be shortened.  Heat is the enemy to all electrical devices.  Its a question of degree.
    2. Try Temperature Monitor.
    3.  I don't use one, but a cooling pad would be good when you are stressing the CPU/GPU.  I have used Aluminum plates as an auxiliary heat sink when performing video work.  Poor mans cooler, but it works.
    4. Yes. That is normal for computer games.
    Ciao.

  • ITunes 8.2 (23) uses 95% of CPU when playing music

Was hoping someone could share insight as to why iTunes is averaging 95% of a CPU's power while playing music.. the load is generally 75-100%. Per support doc recommendations i have disabled plug-ins (growlTunes) to no avail. Library Sharing off does not make a difference either.
This is something i've been troubleshooting for some time.. at times there were delays between tracks playing, and that called my attention to the CPU usage. I would unplug the iphone which was charging, and the CPU dropped back to 2-3%, and thought i'd won. But then i check back later in the day and the usage is up. Disable growltunes, CPU dropped down, now it is back up again and i've nothing more to disable. Such performance return could have been coincidence however.
    questions:
I don't want to find i'm being robbed of performance in a crunch just because i'm playing music. Could this be because i have four processors, and iTunes is using idle processing power? at 95% i see 25% load on each processor. Does the processing power free up when i put more load on the machine?
Watching the usage through a track right now, the usage began at 5%, then rockets up to 95% for the majority of the song. But it is not always up for the whole song, it varies but mostly is in the 90's. Is this due to the complexity of the track it is decoding?
I'm using Uno to make my tiger interface consistent, but i don't believe that has any bearing on iTunes - it did not skin iTunes as it was a newer version than Uno supported.
quad g5- 8gig ram, os x 10.4.11 thanks for any input

  • Port Replicator III+ very high cpu when moving usb mouse only in W2k

    Tecra M2 with a port replicator III+
It's set to dual boot into XP and Win2000 (yes I know it's getting on a bit, but I've got a lot of stuff installed in win2k that is difficult to get hold of these days).
XP is 100% fine, but with win 2000 if I use my *USB mouse* on the *port replicator* ports and waggle the mouse around - the *CPU* jumps from 0 to *70+%* usage (the system process which I think indicatates as IRQ problem). If I plug the mouse into the laptop ports (when the laptop is docked) - it's fine, at most 5% cpu usage. It's a basic microsoft mouse. I definately think it's a usb problem of some kind, because the cpu even jumps a bit if I type quickly on my usb keyboard (only a couple of %). It happens with all the replicator's usb ports.
Any ideas? I don't really want to plug in my mouse in the morning because it kinda defeats the point of having a docking station in the first place! I've got the mobile extensions installed. All the other aspects of the replicator are fine
    Martin

Huh it will not be easy to find good explanation for this.
At this time when Tecra M2 was offered on the market as compatible port replicator Toshiba has offered Toshiba Advanced Port Replicator III (not +) and at this time both supported operating system was tested with it.
Later Toshiba has designed Toshiba Advanced Port Replicator III+ and confirmed compatibility with Tecra M2 but obviously with newer (at this time) WXP.
So now you have follow situation: you use newer port replicator but with much older operating system so I presume there is maybe some compatibility problem with W2K.
I cannot imagine you use it so often with W2K and if yes it cannot be so problematic to connect mouse directly on notebooks USB port.
Sorry but I dont think there is anything you can do about it.

  • Word 2013 - Publish as PDF or XPS button causes excessive registry queries / high CPU when added to quick access toolbar

After installing Office 2013 Pro Plus on our XenApp 6.5 environment we noticed a drop in performance. Using taskmanager we could see winword.exe hit 20+% CPU usage when filling just 1 line with the same letter.
Some investigating lead us to the "Publish as PDF or XPS button", when it is added to the quick access toolbar the cpu usage doubles during keystrokes. Using procmon I noticed excessive registry reading, up to 150,000 lines in 10 seconds.
It seems to be a constant loop of the same queries to approx. 100 components in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Components\
I reproduced this in 3 different setups:
    Win2008R2 + Office2013 Pro Plus 32-bit + Office 2013 updates until 12-nov 2014
    Win 8.1 Laptop + Office2013 Pro Plus 32-bit + Office 2013 updates until 05-jan 2015
    Win 8.1 Desktop + Office2013 Pro Plus 64-bit + Office 2013 updates until 17-dec 2014
Can anyone verify this behaviour? For now we've removed the shortcut from the quick access toolbar in our environment.

I'll do that, I'm however still interested if somebody can confirm the excessive registry queries.
    As a brief test, I captured winword.exe (2013) registry-reads on my Win8.1 pc (64bit Windows), with ProcMon.
this is over a capture period of less than one second
2092 of 2352 contain "component" in the reg path
this is when I have winword open and whilst "File, Export" is displayed (this is what offers the export-to-PDF option)
vs.  168 registry operations in an interval of 10 seconds, by winword.exe, if word is simply "running in background with an open blank document"
I'm not sure if that is useful, but it seems an awful lot of registry reads/writes from an application which isn't apparently doing anything at the time..
EDIT: similar registry read/write rate, when save-as-pdf is added to QAT (again sitting idle on a blank document). the registry read/write rate drops back down to 160 if the save-as-pdf feature is then removed from QAT.
    Don

  • High CPU when using zoom fonction - Reader 11.0.03

    Hello,
I've noticed the following problem on a 2008 R2 remote desktop server.
When an user make a zoom in a pdf document, the CPU usage reach 100% usage et stay at this level for about 10 secondes and the screen freezes.
All the users are impacted by CPU's peak and are blocked, they can't work for 10 secondes.
Did anyone have encounter this problem and solve it ?
Excuse my english , it's not my native  language.

    C>Programs>Adobe>Reader 11>Reader...
Look for a file named eula.exe (or just eula)
    Double click it.
