High Definition trailers to be converted for dvd

Hi, how if possible can i put a High Definition quictime trailer onto a dvd, at dvd quality. I have quick time 7 pro and just wondred if this is possible.

There are very few High Definition DVD players available.
But you could encode them using the older (MPEG-2) formats using current software.
Since you're not working with the "source" files the quality will be degraded and the size reduced to fit the current DVD formats (about 720X480).
You'll need some software (easy on a Mac with iMovie or iDVD) to convert the downloads to .dv format to use in your PC DVD authoring app. QuickTime Pro can also export to DV Stream (.dv) for use in your PC software (Movie Maker?) that you can burn to DVD.

You want to 'reverse engineer' the compressed mpeg2 DVD file back to something iMovie can use?
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:

Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.

The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

Unsuccessful at taking wma file and converting for DVD playback

So my wife made a slideshow using Microsoft Movie maker. This program only will save the project for playback on your computer or emailing. So we ended up with a wma file. I took this into Premier Pro then exported to the encoder. I picked NTSC high quality and MPG2-DVD format. I picked dvd for multriplexing although I don't know what that does, I took the mpg quality slider from 4 to 5, and finally changed the audio to dolby digital. I end up with 4 files one is an m2v which I try and burn to dvd using the window burn dvd window but it will only play via my computer DVD drive.

It sounds like Windows Movie Maker Live was used. The regular WMM will Export to DV-AVI Type I, which will Import into PrPro much better.
I would recommend converting the WMA/WMV to DV-AVI, and Importing that into a DV NTSC (if you are in NTSC-land) Project.
Then, you would use Encore to do the DVD authoring. There are several ways to get the material on your Sequence into Encore. ADL (Adobe Dynamic Link) is probably the easiest way to do this.
What is your exact workflow from PrPro, into Encore?
What brand of blank media are you burning the DVD to?

PS - Multiplexing is the function of combining the Audio and the Video into one file. There are usually two choices, "None" and then often "DVD." For None, you will get two separate files - one for the Audio and one for the Video. With "DVD" you should get a muxed (combined) file. Actually, the separate Audio and Video is the preferred way, if one is doing an Export from PrPro, and then an Import to Encore. One would Import the Video into Encore as a Timeline, and the Audio as an Asset. In Encore, just drag the Audio file from the Project Panel to the appropriate Timeline, where it will snap into place.

Analog to digital video converter for DVD

Cheapest ways:
1. Do you have a DV camera? If you do and it has "digital in" then you can take the output from your VHS player, route it through the camera and into your PC. The manual would explain if it is a feature.
2. Secondly, search ebay for Dazzle Hollywood DV Bridge. This is a hardware converter that takes the analogue and does the conversion for you.

Is a high definition DVD burner available for Mac's?

I have a HD camcorder (Canon XHA1) and am using Final Cut express HD. I have been very disappointed in the results I have obtained when burning my Final Cut projects to a standard DVD.(After finishing my FCE project, I use IDVD to produce a disc image, then burn to a standard 4.7 GB Sony or Verbatim DVD-R) Many of my clients now have blu ray players and high def TV's and want their videos in high definition. Is a high definition burner available for a mac pro so that I can burn high definition discs?

However, I noticed when reading through the info about this blu-ray drive that it made no mention of being compatible with Final Cut Express HD or IDVD which is what I am currently using. I had considered upgrading to Final Cut Studio but it sounds like this drive is only compatible when used with Adobe Premiere Pro and Encore CS4. I am no techie, so pardon my ignorance about all this. Is Toast a "replacement" for IDVD? Could I use FCExpress (or FC studio if I upgrade) then burn the DVD using toast? Does Toast have menu templates like IDVD?
If anyone has any experience using this blu-ray drive on their Mac with Final Cut and IDVD or Toast I would appreciate some input on what the exact workflow is and if the whole process has been a positive experience.

High Definition Screensaver Art for AppleTV

I'm looking for high definition images/artwork ready formatted for AppleTV.
Essentially, I'm looking to use the AppleTV screensaver to transform my HDTV into a rotating gallery of great images - great background for my next party.
No sound required.
There used to be a company that did exactly this for Windows PCs and certain TVs (www.galleryplayer.com) but they went out of business a few months ago.
Anybody got any ideas?
I'm prepared to pay for the high quality images - not expecting them for free.

High Def shot material burning as normal dvd?

Hi all,
I'm thinking of buying a new camcorder. Now i was wondering...
When i shoot my movie in high definition and use FCE 4 for the montage, can i burn the final movie than as a normal dvd? This i want to do cause i make copies for friends who do not have a blu ray player.

Only "normal" DVDs will play in DVD players. Since DVD is standard definition only, it is "normal" that any HD footage be downconverted to SD.

IMovie and Importing video AVCHD from the Canon High-Definition HG10

iMovie 08 does not let me import high definition video (AVCHD) from the Canon HG10 camcorder. Could you let me know how I can do this or what program can do it? iMovie 08 and the Mac do not recognize the high definition video (AVCHD). Thanks for your assistance. Best, Joe

Your camera is on the supported list, and if you will search these forums, you will see that many people are using it.
iMovie recognizes AVCHD, but only from a supported and connected camcorder.
If you prefer not to import from your camcorder, you can buy a program called Voltaic. It takes about 12x realtime to convert AVCHD to an editable format. You can import directly from your camera much quicker.

1080/30P Footage: Version for DVD - Nest sequence in a NTSC Sequence or....

I am working on a project I shot at 1080/30P and I want to make some copies of video for DVD. Would you nest your sequence in a Uncompressed 8-bit NTSC sequence and then export and then open in Compressor and convert for DVD? Or just export the 1080/30P (DVCPRO 1080p30)and open that in Compressor and convert for DVD?

DVD High Definition?

I noticed that there is now an option in the preferences tab in the Apple DVD player software for high defintion. Does this mean that macbook pros will be capable of playing the upcoming HD DVDs? If not, can I still play some form of HD Video (besides quicktime trailers) on my mac book pro? Is there a way to convert standard definition video, such as that form a DV camcorder to high definition? Thanks

I disagree...there are line "doubler" and even "quadruplers" that increase a video source's resolution, and there is a large market for upconverting DVD players. Obviously, thanks to the GIGO principle (garbage in garbage out) the result is nowhere near true HD quality, but there is no question that these upconverting devices have a huge impact on video quality.
It seems logical to me that these high-powered cpu's we now have could be capable of performing some level of upconversion of SD material on the fly. They certainly can certainly deinterlace video in realtime. Am I wrong? Perhaps some other software can do this, like VLC?

Why isn't my high definition video converting to standard definition?

What I'm describing here, I've successfully accomplished many, many times using Premiere Pro CS5 and now Premiere Pro CS6. Now, for the first time ever, it's not working and I'm completely baffled. (This is a high-end Windows 7 64-Bit machine with 16GB RAM running Premiere Pro CS6.)
Here's a basic summary of my workflow. Nothing out of the ordinary here.
1. I shoot my video using a high definition camcorder (the same one I've been working with for the past year or two.
2. I import my high definition video into a 1920x1080 sequence in Premiere Pro CS6.
3. I edit my sequence until I'm happy.
4. I enter and name my Encore chapter markers in the sequence.
5. I create my Encore project and import the sequence as a timeline and set up my menus and such.
6. I build my Encore project, first into a standard definition DVD image file (so I can later burn SD-DVDs) and then build it again into a high definition Blu-ray image file (so I can later burn Blu-rays).
The Blu-ray burn is turning out just fine.
But the video in the DVD burn is all black. I can jump around from chapter to chapter and I can hear the sound, but the video doesn't show up!
I tried this a couple times thinking that maybe Encore just messed up the SD-DVD creation process but I got the same result each time. When I preview the project in Encore, it all looks just right.
So I figured, okay, something's not working when I import the sequence.
I went back to Premiere Pro thinking I'd just export my 1920x1080 sequence into a widescreen standard definition AVI and create a new sequence just for the standard definition DVD.
The exported AVI is black as well!!
I don't get it. Why on earth won't my high definition video convert properly to standard definition?
The high definition sequence looks completely normal in Premiere Pro. What could I possibly be overlooking??
One final note. Just as another test, I copied and pasted the sequence in Premier Pro, truncated it to a couple minutes (the full sequence is 90 minutes long), and exported to a widescreen AVI again.
It just finished, I tried playing it back in Windows, and it, too, is all black, sound but no video.
Like I said, this is nothing new for me. I've done it countless times with other projects. I could really use some assistance with this one.

So I exported my completed high definition sequence to an MP4 and re-imported back into Premiere Pro. Right-clicked it and created a sequence from the clip. Then I imported my chapters from the old sequence into the new one.
I returned to Encore, modified my project to work off the newly created sequence (what a pain having to recreate all the scene links) and voila, it had no trouble making a DVD this time.
So I guess I'll get out of the bad habit of my old routine and create a sequence the "right" way from now on. Funny how we get used to doing something one way and stop thinking outside the box after a while.
Jim, I don't see how that's necessary. As long as I create an Encore project based on a good high definition sequence, I have never had to do anything other than have Encore build a standard definition DVD based on the high definition sequences. It has always done the conversion for me and produced really good DVDs. Once I create a DVD image that I'm satisfied with, I simply have Encore build a Blu-ray image using the exact same project, and that works perfectly as well. I suppose I may be missing something here but it all works and works well, so I don't see a reason to create two projects when one works well.
On a separate note, is it just me or doesn't everybody think it's high time that Adobe offer a feature to import markers from one sequence into another. I can do it automatically but I have to use a macro that I created separate and apart from Premiere Pro. For that matter, I think Encore should also offer a feature to remap all scene links to a new sequence instead of forcing me to fix them one by one myself.
Anyway, thanks to all of you for pointing me in the right direction!
