High input errors on NPE-G2 gigabit ports

Ever since replacing an NPE-G1 with an NPE-G2 in our 7206, the two main interfaces used are showing alarming amounts of input errors. In addition, we have a gut feel that overall throughput rates is not what it used to be.
Both interfaces connect to a c3750 switch and are carrying multiple vlans.
The attached file has the 'show interface' output for each interface, with highlights at the data that has us worried.
Is it something simple like not enough buffer space? Something default differently than the NPE-G1 did?
Any help appreciated.

Definetly not right . How do you have the interfaces setup . Normally with gig we just let the interfaces autonegotiate and everything works correctly , myself I would not hardcode gig on either side just set as auto . If you can maybe you can post configs for the ports on both sides . Anything posted in the log ? Is it possible you have overloaded the bus ? If so then you would see something about too many bandwidth points on a bus . On the 7206's you have to figure out bandwidth points for the installed interfaces and cannot just fill the slots up with whatever you want , just something to check .

with such high input errors and increasing crc values, this suggest a physical layer problem. you can also see that you recieve a lot of runts .this could be due to number of factors, faulty cable,Network noise due to near by electronics/Grounding,Fautly Transciever or adapter, fault at the TX side of line, etc bottom line check for physical layer issues.Network analyzer may help to pin down the problem source.

When there are more than two members in a cluster (stack), the Gigabit interface operates at half-duplex. Since collisions can result at half-duplex, some CRCs errors are normal.

    Hi,
Check out the below explanation for CRC error and farme error and few useful links to trouble shoot these type of problems
The CRC error rate is 1.75915% (greater than 1 in a million packets),
and the collision rate is less than 0.1%.
This can indicate excessive noise or transmission problems on the LAN or the LAN
bus itself. A high number of CRCs is usually the result of collisions or a station
      transmitting bad data.
TRY THIS: Check cables to determine whether any are damaged. If 100BaseTX is being
used, ensure Category 5 cabling is being used and not another type, such as Category
      3.
There have been 1599 'frame errors' reported.
This indicates the number of packets received incorrectly, having a CRC error
and a non-integer number of octets. On a LAN, this is usually the result of collisions
      or a malfunctioning Ethernet device.
TRY THIS: Monitor the level of frame errors over time. If they are increasing,
try swapping interfaces and or ports to identify the problem.

  • HH3-b Gigabit port

Hi, hope somebody can shed some light on this problem?
I have just had Infinity Installed and everything is fine apart from the gigabit port 4 on the home hub3 - it's a type B
The other 3 ports are all working and all the devices are correctly given IP addresses - however when I connect to the Gigabit port 4 - then I lose all connection. I have connected several other devices and they lose connection as well (port 4 is dead..)
I am not having any speed issues connecting to any of the other ports - but I would like to know if there is a setting needed to turn port 4 on or if there is an issue with the Home Hub3 and it needs replacing.
The hub has firmware Version V100R001C01B031SP09_L_B
    Thanks
    Paul
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The "A" version of the HH3 was known for having this issue, which was supposed to have been fixed with the "B" version. (Anyone who reports this problem can get a swap-out on request). Unfortunately there are still issues with the "B" version and new firmware to resolve it hasn't yet been made available. After a process of trial and error I have identified that on my "B" version:
    - If the HH3 auto-detects a Gigabit Connection, it also enables Jumbo frames
    - If your device does not support Jumbo frames you'll suffer a very high packet loss and a virtually unusable connection
    - Enabling Jumbo frames on the connected device (if supported) stabilises the connection but you'll still see high latency and sub-optimal performance.
    The only reliable solutions are
    a) Fix the speed of the connected device to 100Mb/s Full Duplex, which negates the value of having a Gigabit connection.
    b) Replace the HH3 with an alternative, such as the Netgear 3500L which has gigabit support on all ports.
I'm liaising with the mods to ascertain if this is specific to certain network chipsets (mine are Broadcom) and in the meantime am trying another replacement HH3.

  • Input Error!!!

    Hi Guys,
I am not completely clear if this is a problem in PC-UI or BSP, so am posting it here.
On the Webpage that shows up of our PC-UI application, if I input, characters into a numeric field on a list view and if the row is empty.
The row is lost, but the error remains, if there is another row below, the highlighted box is shown on top of that.
Now we have another system as well that runs on SP44. Now in this system if I do the same, I get a popup
"The argument ##### cannot be interpreted as a number" Can someone throw light on this, as to what needs to be done to replicate teh same in the other system.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pavan

    Hi,
It’s basically a Layer 1 issue, wherein the probable cause for Input Errors on Interface could be Faulty Port or Cabling.
Try changing the Cable and check for any Hardware issue on switch Port.
Please refer the thread for understanding and troubleshooting.

  • Netstat not reporting input errors with packets that have bad checksums ?

    Greetings,
Is netstat not reporting any checksum errors ? I have a number of Macs reporting checksum errors when sniffing the local net. I would think that these should be reported by netstat as input errors, or collisions right ?
But it doesn't currently. See below for sample, its occurring across protocols, tcp, and udp. Usually this error is a bad ethernet port or cabling, and sometimes a sw issue. Working on eliminating the switches, router, and dsl modem by doing more testing.
But is netstat broke ? I havent seen any errors from netstat since @ 3yrs ago.
    length 64, bad cksum 0 (->f9fe)!)
One other question, can one monitor firewire 400/800 ports or usb with netstat ? Its not listed with man pages or netstat -h
    Thanks in advance

    Im am using two commands to view the data;
    netstat -I en0 2;
    (no errors in or out)
and tcpdump with the verbose -v argument
( reports the cksum ( these are CRC's right, not IP header checksum ? )
At the very bottom is the netstat -s output, otherwise a snippet of tcpdump ; replaced the IP's with xxxx's to protect the innocent
    Thanks for your help.....

  • ASR9K Interface Input Errors?

    All,
I got a ticket today and it was in regard to the error count on one of the TenG interfaces on one of our ASR9K's. In looking at the interface I noticed quite a few Input Errors on the port. I cleared the counters and monitored. In checking the port again I saw the Input Errors again incrementing. On the smaller Cisco switches you can ususally run the show interface gig 1/1/1 counters error command. With the ASRs you can not. I am wondering if someone could explain what the Input Errors could mean. Media issue? Incorrect Setting? Not sure what I need to be looking at being I have little time on the ASR's at this point. Thanks.

  • CP-7910 Phones Logging Input Errors on my 3524PWR

I have been seeing many input errors on the fastethernet interfaces of my WS-C3524PWR-XL-EN switches that have a CP-7910 IP phone connected to them. The 3524PWR switches are running the following IOS revision: c3500XL-c3h2s-mz.120-5.WC17.bin
This problem is only occurring with the 7910 series phones. The 7940 & 7960 IP phones on theses switches are not logging any input errors.
Has anybody seen this occur in their network? Is there a solution for the problem?

    Hi Ryan,
I'm pretty sure we used to get alot of errors with the 7910 as well. If I remember correctly we had to hard code the port for 10/half.
    Hope this helps!
    Rob

  • Error while executing SSIS package - Error: 4014, Severity:20, State: 11. A fatal error occurred while reading the input stream from the network. The session will be terminated (input error: 109, output error: 0)

    Hi,
We are getting the following error when running our SSIS packages on Microsoft SQL Server 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1:
Error: 4014, Severity:20, State: 11.   A fatal error occurred while reading the input stream from the network. The session will be terminated (input error: 109, output error: 0)
SQL Server Data Tools and SQL Server Database Engine reside on the same server.
    We tried the following:
    Disabling TCP Chimney Offload
    Installed Windows Server 2008 SP1
Splitting our SSIS code into multiple steps so it is not all one large continuous operation
The error occurs during a BulkDataLoad task.
Other options we are investigating with the engineering team (out-sourced, so delayed responses):
Firewall configurations (everything is local, so this should not make a difference)
    Disabling the anti-virus scanner
Are there other things we can try?
    Any insight is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi HenryKwan,
Based on the current information, the issue can be caused by many reasons. Please refer to the following tips:
Install the latest hotfix based on your SQL Server version. Ps: there is no SQL Server 2012 R2 version.
Change the MaxConcurrentExecutables property from -1 to another one based on the MAXDOP. For example, 8.
Set "RetainSameConnection" Property to FALSE on the all the connection managers.
    Reference:
    https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/774370/ssis-packages-abort-with-unexpected-termination-message
If the issue is still existed, as Jakub suggested, please provide us more information about this issue.
    Thanks,

Are you using a Microsoft or Apache web server? If so, you can submit to a server-side script, which will bypass web mail and client-side email software such as OUTLOOK.
